Smaller wheels for EVs also provide better range so a 21 inch wheel is unproductive. Which more reason why this entire car is obscene. The environmental aspect of this morbidly obese vehicle is a joke.

Just bought an EV9 Land in iceberg green, it's beautiful and drives incredibly. If you are even remotely on the fence, definitely go for it. I'm getting over 300 miles of range and that's in 40-50F temps, it should be like 330 in the summer. A lot of people in here poo-pooing EVs, and the pricing from Kia. All I can say is this vehicle feels like a 70k product, and is built like a bank vault. Also, if you haven't driven EVs you cant really understand--basically if there are chargers, you're fine. I have a route that is 500 miles that I do regularly. Charging once or twice for 15-20 minutes, combined with a bathroom and food break. I have driven this route so many times and I've literally never worried about charging. In 2-3 years of driving almost exclusively electric vehicles, I've never been stranded. Never worried about charging. I've been road-tripping all around for thousands of miles. I keep on waiting for a major failure or problem...still hasn't happened. they priced it so wrong for the USA. in Canada its 82k for top trim. (61k USD) and there's a 3 year waitlist. but in the USA they're sitting on the lot
Nothings selling not even ice vehicles. Part of it may be all ev's in the US are insanely priced and some of us who would consider one can't afford a $1000+ a month car payment on top of our mortgage, utilities and groceries. Our local ford dealer as of 3 wks ago still had 4 2023 mach e's and still at msrp and several 2023 ice vehicles as well.

The channel Out of Spec Reviews was showing that the dealer in Fort Collins CO was selling the EV9 with just doc fees and they can ship then anywhere in the US. The channel was given a base model EV9 as a long term loaner.
Dealerships are gonna dealership. I'd hope that only those with more money than sense would buy those markups, then everyone else wait until they drop (or get gud at haggling)
Meeee toooo! If I sold my cherry low mileage Z4, and my daily Chevy Bolt, and cashed a bunch of T bills, I’d still need about a 25k loan to get a mid range EV9. At today’s rates? No thanks!
It’s the same price as the 5 seater Tesla Model X or 6k less for the 6 seater. Once Kia Dealers get their hands on it they will be marked up over the Model X. If the EV9 was less expensive I would love to buy it. It’s hard sell buying a Value brand when you can get a Luxury car first the same price.
Man no kidding. A couple years ago we were shopping for a midsize SUV, we looked at various brands. Kia was still marking up the Telluride 10k, essentially the same price as a BMW X5.
I’ve had mine for more than a month. Same spec except interior is brown. Every time I charge it’s giving me a 375 miles range. I’ve tested it and yes I’m getting that full range. Sometimes off by 14 miles.
A Chrysler Pacifica is $40k for its base. The hybrid base is nearly $53k. No, stow and go, which is problematic, the towing is 5k, and the vehicle does not have the 7-passenger capacity, and rear doors rather than the sliding rear doors. They added sunroofs for no good reason.
You have to push hard on the charging flap to open it because you're actually pushing through to activate the close flap button. It's quite ingenious dual use of the close button. Like a CD player, it's an open and close button. 😂 check out the design on the inside of the flap, there is a rubber plunger to hit the button.
Will be a game changer once the US infrastructure supports vehicles like it. I’ll give it 24 months and see how things are before deciding if an EV is right for me.
I laugh every time I see these 'Smart Parking' demos from any car. That's just what I would want to do with my new car: park it so tight to another car that they slam their door into my car by accident or out of frustration 'cause I parked so close!
Absolutely agree. That said, I had experienced twice already where I parked far away and had two cars park uncomfortably close to me. So close that I used the smart park to pull the car out of the space (and check for dents!) with my EV6 GT.
I doubt you would ever use it to park the car, much more likely you would use it to move your car out of a parking spot where someone had parked too close to you while you were away.
These things are already heavily discounted. Definitely agree on the popout door handles and charge door. Ice and snow builds up and blocks it. As for interior, they should have stayed with Kia EV6 drive and start button placement. There is no point in doing the steering wheel stalk unless you are planning a front row bench seat.
4 things that need improvement 1. Price 2. Needs physical buttons 3. Bigger frunk. Improve the packaging of the components like lucid did. 4. Bring back the light feature in the grill area that was on the concept
@angryGTS barely any physical buttons. At minimum, it should have all HVAC controls and volume, lights and wipers. It definitely doesn't have all HVAC controls. Even with the RWD model it's on the small side. Look at how big the lucid frunk is!
@angryGTS that it controls the humidity is kind of cool. I didn't know it did that. Lack of buttons is probably my top complaint on almost every EV. Frunk space is definitely nice to have as it's the only safe space to store something valuable. Price is the biggest reason EV sales have slowed (and even regular vehicle sales). The light feature in the grill area is just cool. It's absolutely not a deal breaker. And as someone else commented, it's still there with a certain trim package.
I think they should have hold off the GT line until next the second gen, I really think people would choose the Rivian R1S around that $78k price or the upcoming Polestar 3 or the Volvo EX90. I don't seeing many buying any trim beyond the Land AWD.
I've seen many reviews and walk arounds of this car both by Australian (where I live) reviewers and overseas reviewers. I've no doubt it is a well made car with a luxurious feel to it and a lot of tech (including the "digital" wing mirrors on the top line model). It is a pretty hefty vehicle at 2500kgs and 5 metres in length. The top of the line model will be close to $140K (AUD) by the time dealer delivery is factored in, on road costs and comprehensive insurance. That is a lot of money for a Korean car from a manufacturer whose bread and butter was affordable, well made cars that people could and would buy. In Australia the average household (according to a 2021 figures) is 2.59 people. Let's be generous and call it three people. That being the case who needs a 7-seater and why? This vehicle is not a substitute for a Land Cruiser because it has less than half the range and when a towed vehicle is added to the load on the battery the range is going to be further reduced. I'm in favour of EVs as a solution to air quality problems in our larger cities but that can only be the case if the vehicle is affordable and would be bought in large numbers. This is not such a vehicle and will do nothing to aid in reducing the carbon footprint of cars. Whilst the job of a reviewer is to tell the potential buyers about the vehicle's features it might also be to ask questions as to the reason a vehicle exists. From all the reviews I have seen no one has asked the question why does this vehicle exist? Those are my thoughts on the Kia EV9
I like it. However, I still think the VW ID Buzz is a better option for 3 row seating, low lift over height, and esthetics. Considering both won't be eligible for the new EV tax credit, they will probably directly compete.
There's so many small electronic components. I wonder about their longevity; forward back/switches on front seats, that overly complicated key fob, all the buttons on the doors, those door handles that don't have a fallback option like Rivian/Tesla. Seems like it'll be a nightmare in ~4/5yrs

I think the Rivian r1s is a better comparison than they give it credit for. We own a duel motor R1S and it is not much more expensive than this EV9. Seems pretty similar amount of passenger space as well. FWIW, I really like the EV9 and would absolutely consider it if we did not already have an R1S. But It is not very clear to me which would get the best bang for your buck…
The Rivian Dual Motor 533hp w/ stand battery (270 mi) starts at 75k. I would rather have that 1000% over the Kia GT Line at 379hp and can't really go off-road for 74k. It's priced about 15k from being competitive.
I have a EV with front charge port and front park daily. No issue when charging. Charger comes with a 20ft cable so I can easily charge while in the garage or parked outside.
@@frankdiaz4913 it's not always easy to get to the front of the car in many garages - because garages tend to be rather small. The front of my car is literally 2-3 inches from the wall. I squeeze two vehicles in the garage, so there is almost no space left. And bicycles are hanging over the fronts of parked vehicles. This is not unusual - a typical situation for many people. Getting to the front of a car to plug in a charger would be extremely hard, if not impossible
Nathan with the creepy baby jokes, just review the cars guys. I like how they're using the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe body style (windows, sloped roof, wheel wells, etc), for this EV6. Good work.
Nathan, thanks for mentioning egress. This should be a prominent part of every review. All the other features of a vehicle are COMPLETELY irrelevant if getting in and out of the vehicle are difficult for the many folks that are bigger, smaller, dealing with arthritis or other mobility issues.
You say it’s a lot more usable storage than the Tesla Model X, but I don’t see it. The X has a pretty large frunk, this barely has a frunk. The X gets criticized for not having enough space behind the third row but the EV9 seems the same or worse. Where is the advantage?
There is something nefarious going on, none of them have the trailer hitch and the dealers don’t have the hitch available. Kia really does not want the influencers to demonstrate towing!
Nice review, looks like a very nice vehicle. I am sure he's not alone, but Nathan really seems hung up on the brand image and saying that nearly $80k isn't acceptable because it's wearing a Kia badge. I can understand mentioning it, but making such a big deal about that, I don't agree with. If it's a great vehicle, it's a great vehicle, whether it has a fancy badge or not.
These guys will be saying the same thing 20 years from now. On my way home Friday night, I noticed I was in a line of SEVEN Kias/Hyundais in a row on the highway, including the one I was in. From a Rio all the way through a Telluride. They are popular cars now. I saw my first EV9 in the wild last week too. Exact match to the one in this video and it was gorgeous. Looked every bit of a $70K+ vehicle.
Wow that’s a lot of cash. Too much. I hope you can manually put the middle seat up as most people wanting to get into the back and out aren’t going to want to wait a minute for the seat to open. That’s nuts. Plus it’s a Kia for nearly 80. Let’s be real, the Kia dealer will try to sell these at markups but won’t be able to. Wait until they realize this and bring prices down. I wonder if this has the added bonus of being able to steal them easily. lol.
This is no there quite. Next Gen battery tech maybe makes these big cars sensible. Also hope they make more rugged EVs. This is just a big city car. Like a minivan.
A BASE 3-row RWD wagon for $61K (large battery; small battery ->under 250 miles EPA, doesn’t count) is pricey. Even in Kia models, that’s beyond a top-trim Prestige X-Pro ($53K) or Prestige X-Line ($54K) Telluride. So Kia may not make many EV converts with the EV9 unless customer started shopping more XPNSV crossover EVs. How m😅ny will sell?? We’ll see. My local dealer has a Light short range ($57K), 2 Land AWDs ($74K) and 3 GT-Line AWDs ($78K). Let the spending begin ….
Nothing against the Kia, this goes for all the electric vehicles, specifically the pricing. Lipstick on a pig or Curtains in an outhouse, you pick. For the charging infrastructure we have, and the percentages that are not even working, For the charging speeds, or lack thereof. And this totally insane concept of I will jump from charger to charger only adding 80 miles at a time crap. These things are STUPID MONEY!
People need to understand that with these heavy EV's, you'll be going through tires in a hurry. You probably go through 3 sets of tires in 100,000 miles.

Outnumbers the Merc in towing capacity by several hundred kilos and offers a class leading warranty. EV9 fully specced at £75400 MSRP, in U.S. configurator equally specced EQS SUV at $121.100. Just to put it into a perspective. You get a GLC, High spec C-class or EQB SUV Elecric Mercedes with the price difference between these two.
What's the miles per kilowatt is it the same as the Ford lightning ?
For what it is, whoever wants the top of the line won't give a poop about pricing. And it looks better than it's competition, at leaset for now.
Seems like the 74,900 Rivian AWD is a better value. More power, bigger Frunk, tax credit eligible…
How much is the long range rwd model?
maybe look it up on the Kia website...
almost $60K
Near me in ATL the lr rwd ev9 is 53-56k currently, with quite a few in stock near 30067.
Nathan with the creepy baby jokes, just review the cars guys. I like how they're using the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe body style (windows, sloped roof, wheel wells, etc), for this EV6. Good work.
Name brand is one thing like sneakers "Nike" vs "Reebok" the both are shoes, the use is the same....
What is the real world range?
Nathan, thanks for mentioning egress. This should be a prominent part of every review. All the other features of a vehicle are COMPLETELY irrelevant if getting in and out of the vehicle are difficult for the many folks that are bigger, smaller, dealing with arthritis or other mobility issues.
No way!
You say it’s a lot more usable storage than the Tesla Model X, but I don’t see it. The X has a pretty large frunk, this barely has a frunk. The X gets criticized for not having enough space behind the third row but the EV9 seems the same or worse. Where is the advantage?
I must be getting old... Is nice though but up to $80k is a hard no!!!
Morning guys thats a cracking car van bus
Rivian R1S or this?
R1S for $1,000 you get better an addition 150hp. On the Dual Motor Standard battery.. R1S Everytime.
Definitely the R1S, also the Tesla Model X 7 seater which has more cargo space, far more range, more power and far more features than the Hyundai.
There is something nefarious going on, none of them have the trailer hitch and the dealers don’t have the hitch available. Kia really does not want the influencers to demonstrate towing!
$80k🤣🤣🤣🤣
How about a similarly equipped Telluride for much less?
At about 5:00, Nathan forgot the word for cladding.
I wonder if this has the added bonus of being able to steal them easily. lol.
Outside of Utah, who has enough kids that warrant this many seats.
The front seat headrests look like ET
Yeah it’s 70 grand I would hope it would be good. They wonder why Tesla is out selling everybody. Because it’s somewhat affordable.
That's a fine looking key fob. Hyundai, take notes!
Much much better than the Model X! Much better!
More than double the tork from bottom to top.
I cant wait to get my wifes boyfriend 1 of these in 2 years for half the price, the depreciation on Kia EV's is almost as bad as a Range Rover 😂
Can we get 4K, please?
This is no there quite. Next Gen battery tech maybe makes these big cars sensible. Also hope they make more rugged EVs. This is just a big city car. Like a minivan.
Andre was gonna "ike it" if it had a hitch 😆
There should be something to gauge the body sturdiness. Especially for a car promising to carry 6-7.. it shows alongside a R1S
Yeah a family car with a white trimmed interior. Auto manufacturers just stop with the white interior.
Seen plenty of Tesla videos showing the white seats are quite easy to keep clean.
If you need it, 80 grand will work
I thought I was looking at the Fisker Ocean
I saw fiskar ocean today and it seemed smaller than ev9
This definitely looks like a kia soul and not in a good way
78k and you say “ look what your getting for the money”…are you high? A gas powered comp is about 40k.
People need to understand that with these heavy EV's, you'll be going through tires in a hurry. You probably go through 3 sets of tires in 100,000 miles.
Not really. They make EV specific tires. I get fifty to 75k on a set of tires. And I don’t baby them.
nathan makes a joke... Andre realizes the comment breaks the line for what should be filtered and confirms against it. nathan takes a pause and realizes the scruttiny probable from his comment and concurs.😂
Good family hauler
LOL - HVAC buttons for the rear but not the front. What BS.
Why is scaling so weird? In beginning of video it looks like it's shorter than talls shoulders.
Still not even close to the utility of a minivan. Why is it taking so long for a true electric minivan?
80 Grand for any car is ludicrous much less a Kia.
So 80 grand is alot for a car which is some of the leading tech in the segment, offers largest practical space in the segment is packed with same tech as a fully loaded Mercedes EQS SUV, basicaly pars the Merc in terms of cabine silence, comfort and power.
Note that EV9 is a larger car in practice and offers also quicker charging and unique V2L, V2H, V1G two-way charging options that the Mercedes cant even offer. Not an option.
And with a unmatched warranty.
@2:22 🤣🤣🤣
Game is not changing - infrastructure is still woefully behind and costs still prohibitive for average, middle class
80k? Wow. No federal tax credit either...
Wow pricey
I don’t care if it mows your lawn, $78K is past ridiculous!!!!
Only in America will you see a 7 seater SUV for a family that’s can’t afford it because the only people having that many kids are on government assistance programs.
Ik it. Get the hitch
Biggest PILE of JUNK you can get
Another EV review? In case you hadn't noticed people are not all that excited about EV's.
Almost 80 gs and in a yr want be worth 50 gs make it make sense
Hmm, at this price it directly competes with a Chevy Tahoe. Think I'd still take the Tahoe with a V8, with easy 5 min 'recharges' on road trips.
I’m on my second EV looking for my third. Just drove a Tahoe in rain and snow with three people and all the gear from Jackson Hole to Sun Valley and back in winter. Even at the surprisingly good 19 mpg we got in the Tahoe it’s gonna cost you a lot more, including refueling and purchase price over the life of the vehicle.
It WOULD have been a game changer, until somebody stole it.
Where are the batteries mined from ? Doesn’t the materials used to make the batteries cause far more environmental harm than beneficial factors
I would go buy S/X before I would buy a Kia for 80k 😂. This is going to give Tesla more sales.
Especially with Tesla charging infrastructure, it’s a no-brainer IMO
