I don't tank at all, but in terms of a guide that actually shows you the "how and why" of a class in an operational setting, this video is spot on. Great job on this
Let me clear up some (mis)information - Ok after watching this a few times there are errors I should of caught: When I say stacks of Purifying Brew - I mean stacks of Purifying Chi - different name but does the same - more stack gives more absorb shield from Celestial Brew @3:37 - Shuffle doesn't give 100% more stagger - it makes your stagger 100% more effective - very different but still ultra beneficial @3:55 - Purifying Brew right after a Blackout Kick "Pauses stagger damage for 3 seconds" @4:32 - Again - Purifying Brew after Blackout Kick doesn't build 3 stacks - it pauses stagger dmg for 3 seconds -
Tysm for the brew content. Just subscribed after watching this content. Keep doing it. Question: Are you using WA to track all your stacks bottom-right corner?
Monk Tank here running 9's so far 622 gs and 2248 myth rating i gotta say blackout combo into purifying is the absolute GOAT and i love that we as tanks get an instant vivify every set 10 seconds, saved many a healer and dps by throwin em an instant heal after BoK purifying combo
Small nitpick, but for anyone looking for extra damage on Brew the ordering shown in this video is off. You should cast Exploding Keg after getting stacks from Weapons of Order on all the mobs (ideally 4 stacks), then use 2 Spinning Crane Kicks after Exploding Keg to proc the extra damage as often as possible in the 3 second window. Obviously, if you have to use Exploding Keg to ensure threat that takes priority over this damage optimization. Also, it's generally agreed upon that using Blackout Combo on purifying brew is one of the worst options available. All it does is pause your stagger damage for a few seconds, basically useless outside of very niche scenarios. You almost always want to use blackout combo on Tiger Palm or Breath of Fire. Keg Smash is also a totally fine option if you need brew uptime.
It is different now cause of the threat you need to keep from dps, and chi burst is actually kinda insane now to use after exploding keg, plus the max damage is always blackout kick into tiger palm now.
I’m blown away your healing is so high. I’m scrambling to get my free vivifies and expel harms in off cd. Am I doing that wrong?? Great video by the way, definitely following to catch more brew content. Thank you!
Its pretty impossible to get high healing numbers in lower level keys, 12+ will always make your monk do more healing. I've always found lower keys to be harder to sustain yourself and have to get more heals, it is just the way brew works with more damage you take the more you heal from clearing stagger.
Great guide. I started tanking a month ago on brew as felt more fun. I use to much breath though so will cut that down to the 8 seconds when it may drop off etc.
I keg'd the small pack to 'get aggro' - when the mobs are all grouped up I am "keg smashing' on CD so in that entire time i've Keg Smashed them all at least 4 times with constant Breaths of Fire going out so - yes DMG reduction on every single one of them occured
I played a little bit of brew at the start of TWW, but never got super into it. I have a question, is expel harm/vivify (with vivacious vivification) not worth pressing in your average pull?
Yea sure (kinda ?) I have a macro that is: /castsequence Expel Harm, Vivify, Tiger Palm I use it (very) sparinginly though - when I am ~ < 30% health Talents that make you go from near death to full health: Expel Harm w/ : Strength of Spirit Vivify w/ Vivacious Vivification, Protect and Serve Bonus Healing Talents: Flow of Chi, Chi Proficiency, Grace of the Crane Realisticaly though that is a one shot per pull though - if your having to 'heal' yourself in a pull alot then your doing something wrong or the healer aint doing their job due to our damage intake stagger (dot) Of course there are outliers like the mini-giants in Grim Batol where they 'tank buster' you every 18 or so seconds .. so you should have a big fat heal after every hit .. Now here is the flip-side of that statement: Expel Harm when used will 'expel' your healing orbs healing you for (in my case the tooltip reads) 100k per sphere . and doing 10% of that to enemies .. Meanwhile just running though or using spinning crane kick to draw in the orbs (which I used often) the healing orbs heal me for 250k per sphere .. so in a fight I use spin kick every so often when there is about 4-5 healing spheres on the ground scoop them up and self heal during a regular rotation of about 1 million .. without really doing anything Maybe I should do a video on that
@@russbakr That video would be usefull. I use expel harm and vivacious on CD in my 13's, and seeing you do none of that is quite interesting. I don't understand how your healing is so high.
Also, keep in mind that while it’s good to have stacks, celestial brews potency is dependent on the amount of stagger that is cleared with purifying brew

Thanks ! Glad it helped !

Thank you so much for your brew content. Just got your channel recommended to me by RUclips on my homepage

Hey man! What addon did you use bring the raid frames to the bottom middle of the screen?
Wow I had no clue you had to keep up stacks of purifying brew. I thought you just use it when stagger gets to red. Great video !
Glad to help!
Hey im a new BM Tank, can you tell me how do you have so much selfheal during the pull?

Also I think I use expel harm too much
You keg smash the little guys but not the big pack so breath of fire didn't apply the DMG reduction like you mention.

@3:45 look at the debuffs, you didn't hit a single enemy with fire breath and with this build that is a huge mistake

its russel james the look at the numbers guy i finally found you
Found me ? Been here for the past 5-6 years lol

yeah like your most recent clear will determine that strength right
