Hey, been playing monk since the end of last expansion and I have to say very great video, specially the tracking of the Hero Talent has helped me a lot in my M+ runs for the shadow dmg buff windows. Thank you so much for putting in all the effort and providing a very helpful guide! :) What is your stance towards transcendence? Do you prefer to use it or do you rather neglect it? Even though it is a must-spec-talent, I rarely see people talking about it in their windwalker vids or any monk vids for that matter.
I think it can be quite niche in what you are capable of doing with it, where it shines is preplanned repositioning. I do use on mythic Silken Court for one of the mechanics and I also make use of it on Mythic Queen Ansurek to avoid one of the mechanics all together. I’ll go over their usages in the respective commentary videos. Overall I think it’s a great tech ability for the right situations but for the majority of the time it’s not really worth using.
Using a two handed weapon at the moment is a DPS loss overall if we assume all weapons are the same ilv. Dual wielding tends to be slightly better than 2H weapons in early contents of each expansion predominantly because you get to apply 2 weapon enhancements (Algari Mana Oil) instead of 1. But for this tier specifically there is a really strong 1H from the raid called Void Reaper's Blade that is our BIS (it has a 2 set with a trinket) and you ideally want to pair that with a crafted 1H weapon with the embellishment Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension.
Great video man, this was worth the wait! I have a question about Storm Earth and Fire. Do i hold one charge of SEF for xuen or do i just use the charge when its off cooldown?
Always hold a charge for Xuen as when you activate him that’s your big damage window! The only time you wouldn’t is if you are at the very end of a boss fight and you know you won’t have Xuen up for the whole 20 seconds then use SEF earlier otherwise you’ll have lost damage :)
Amazing guide! Not sure if you went over this in the video but when is the best time to use your second charge of SEF in a purely single target situation?
It can be fairly encounter-specific (granted there are only 2 real ST fights). But generally, I tend to use my second SEF around the 1 minute mark, predominantly because that is when your 3rd SoTW will be back up but I also play Void Elf so I get a damage buff every minute that I try to take advantage of. If you check out this commentary video that I did for Mythic Sikran I do discuss when and why I pop SEF specifically on that fight based on the raid mechanics to get the most out of SEF windows: ruclips.net/video/mXOwUtum0X4/видео.html
@@WindwalkerPOV ah ok that actually makes a lot of sense - I had just been sending my second SEF almost immediately after the first ended but it definitely makes more sense to save it for when SOTW is back up. Thanks for the response :)
what WW WA and Plater profile are you using in your video? And thanks for your guide, I’ve been following for a while and enjoying your videos :D I’ve been playing monk since Dragonflight, and have enjoyed it so much I basically haven’t played anything else since xD mostly been playing MW, but I really enjoy WW too. I’ve been practicing with BM as well, but that isn’t as fun as MW or WW
So I don't actually use Plater (I get this question a lot!) I use an addon called Tidyplates and I've never messed around with any settings, it's all baseline - I really like the minimalist style of it. In terms of weakaura's I use quite a lot, I'm going to make a video on them in the future. However, for now, I'll list out some of the main UI addon's and weakauras I do use below in the meantime :) 1) I use the addon Bartender for all of my bars www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/bartender4 2) I use the Luthox - Monk Weakaura for my main ability/resource section in the middle of the screen (highly recommend) wago.io/LuxthosMonkWarWithin/93 3) I use an enemy ability timeline to clearly visually track what bosses are casting wago.io/RaidAbilityTimeline/75 4) I use the addon Tidyplates for a clean and minimalistic style enemy health bar www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/tidy-plates 5) I have an interrupt tracker weakaura so I can see my groups 'kick' interrupts and when they are on cooldown wago.io/MInterruptTracker/87
Hey! Appreciate the guide, amazing work and extremely helpful! Do you happen to have a link for the Flurry Strikes and Wisdom of the Wall WA? Cheers in advance😊
Of course, sorry the wait! You can get the weakaura that I use for flurry strikes here: wago.io/2ihaxwQAw and the one of Wisdom of the Wall you can get here: wago.io/JBUzJ11mf
is it correct to think that the "never hold ur RSK, FOF, WDP and SOTWL" comes from the amount of haste we have this xpac? somestimes i think holding SOTWL for FOF is a dps increase (just a thought) like holding for 6s max ( totally a made up number). or clipping your last tick of FOF to get another RSK in the opener with BL (to get another stack of RSK debuff and dont waste energy since its spending is a huge dps increase in this xpac too, also FOF only has 2 stacks)
I think it’s a bit of a haste thing but more or a priority thing in that you want to cast those abilities asap so they go on cool-down so you get them back up again for the next cast. The only one of those abilities that could be held is SoTW and that’s only if you know that a lot of adds are about to pop up in the next 5i/10 ish seconds or so to get huge value. Try not to overthink the RSK bonus damage - I was doing that a lot at the start of the expansion but if you have a higher prio ability available it’s always that first. Also you never want to clip, if you played in dragonflight that can be a hard habit to break (I run macros that don’t allow me to clip anymore, I’ll post them as a reply tomorrow when on my pc). The reason you don’t clip anymore is because your biggest tick of fists of fury damage comes from the last tick so by clipping you steal that from yourself in a way. Hopefully that makes sense and somewhat answered your question 😅
To add to this in your opener that’s when you’re actually going to have tons of energy regen compared to mid fight (especially when bloodlust is involved) so try not to worry too much about where your energy is at until you’re out of your opener. You mainly want to get your big cool-downs out of the way and set yourself up for your standard priority rotation. I try to explain this in the single target raid encounter opener video (about 39 minutes in) so check out that bit as it might make what I’m waffling about right now make more sense :)
I just made a monk I haven’t played monk since WoD and it feels so good to play a fun class again but every tier list always says we’re doing bad hopefully with this guide it won’t matter at all and I can still be relevant in M+ content
Love the guide, very well made! Got a question. On single target is it worth casting a full fist of fury, if you dont have cooldowns or hero active? (Damage compared channel cast time seems low.)
Thank you! It's always worth casting a full fist of fury if it is your highest priority ability available, you never want to cancel FoF mid-channel as the largest tick of it's damage comes from the very last one.
Yes it does, if you cast an ability during Spinning Crane Kick it will cancel the Spinning Crane Kick and you won’t get the full damage (the same goes for Fists of Fury)
Hi there! You can get the weakaura that I use for flurry strikes here: wago.io/2ihaxwQAw and the one of Wisdom of the Wall you can get here: wago.io/JBUzJ11mf
49:00 but is it worth to lose the buff (i dont remember the name) which you lose it if you use the same spell 2 times consecutively?? i'd say if you are below 4 chi is better to palm-rising sun kick-palm instead of losing the buff right?
This would be in the setting of an AoE opener when you wouldn’t have any hit combo stacks to begin with so there wouldn’t be a downside to the double tiger palm as you’re not dropping from 5 stacks, you’d be starting for 0. If you are chain pulling and you open on a second set of adds with hit combos still stacked on 5 then yes it wouldn’t be worth breaking them with a double :)
i am ret paladin main for almost 8 years and not a singel expansion i played expect by leveling my ww as alt , its fun spec and i feel if ret pala not in the game i will be maining ww monk
Would High Impact be good on Broodtwister for the parasites? 53:00 How can double tiger palm at the start mean you don't have enough chi? It means you started with 6 instead of 4..?
You'd have to guarantee that you hit every parasite from every set with a flurry strike, which is insanely hard on its own. Even then, it still likely wouldn't be on par with Pride of Pandaria! Basically, it changed my opener order from: Tiger Palm > SEF > Xuen > SoTW > Tiger Palm > FoF > RSK > WDP to Tiger Palm > Tiger Palm > SEF > Xuen > SOTW > FoF > Tiger Palm > RSK > WDP It seems like a really minute difference, but the key change is that FoF will only be buffed by 4 hit combos instead of 5 (Xuen doesn't provide a stack), so it is a slight DPS loss when there didn't need to be one because I started combat with 2 Chi. The clip itself is more of a demonstration of how variance in the opener and priority, when there doesn't need to be, can lead to situations where you output less dps.
The plan is to make a video that goes through my addons and weakauras but I have no set date yet for when this will be released, its definitely on the agenda though :)
Glad you liked the video, I have been asked that loads! The plan is to make a video that goes through my addons and weakauras but I have no set date yet for when this will be released - it is in the works though :)

What do you mean by craftable tier set? Is that a piece of gear that you have put in the catalyst and converted into a tier set or is it something else? (Just so I understand the question!)
@ sorry i guess calling it a „tier set“ is wrong, im quite new to wow so my terminology is a bit lackluster😅 it has a set bonus so i called it that way
That's alright I just wanted to make sure I knew what you were talking about! So that set is good if it is your highest item level gear in that slot but because they only go up to as far as item level 606 you are better off swapping them out for another piece with a higher item level when you get it, even if you lose the set bonus, as getting gear with more Agility tends to always be better early on. However, if you get a tier set piece (Any piece that has "Gatecrasher's" at the start of its name AND a set bonus) you will not want to replace that as that gives you a really good Windwalker-specific buff. You would only really replace that with the same item but at a higher level :) I hope that makes sense!
What are the chi ji stack on Spinning crane kick ? is it the number showed on the spell who up the damage of the spell the more you hitted different ennemy with tiger palm ? Or the Stack of the enhanced version of Spinning Crane Kick ? 51:41
@@tailsoffantasy4977 A chi ji stack is the enhanced version of Spinning Crane Kick - visually you can tell it is enhanced when the ability glows white. The number on the spell is how many mark of the crane stacks you have which is a tally that caps at 5 based on how many targets you or your clones have recently directly hit. You usually want to empowered crane kick with 5 stacks for the most possible spinning crane kick damage :)
Realistically not at the moment. No talent set up with JFS is competitive with the current best talents as you’d be having to trade out some of our best talents for it. However, if you enjoy the play style and aren’t fussed on BIS builds run what you like, it’s not always about best best best. Sometimes it can be about fun :)
@WindwalkerPOV oh I am :-) I traded out Communion, Fury of Xuen, and Transfer of Power, for JFF, Jadefire Harmony, and then switching between Path of Jade and Singularly Focused Jade for AoE/Single target. I haven't had much free time to see if it changes much for me. Since I'm not a high-end player, I don't normally get hit up on meters regardless, lol. Just wandering if there was a better way to use it.
im hunting for both the contracts and the void reaper weapon :( didn't get any luck. never dropped them, even in normal mode (i'm also using the detachable fang like you haha)

What Nameplate Addon is that? Also, i always thought I should be priotizing fist of fury and using rising sun kick to reset the cd and using blackout kick to stack transfer the power stacks to power up fof?
Its an addon called Tidyplates and I haven't done any modifications to it so its all baseline :) In AOE, you would prioritise fists over rising sunkick and then use it to reset the CD, as fists do more damage in AOE, so you want to get that ability out more often. In ST, you actually want to get more rising sun kicks out. One reason for this is because it does excellent damage in ST, but also because RSK gives us a damage amp that stacks, so doing it before FoF will increase the damage of the spell slightly, making it better to cast them in that order.
@@WindwalkerPOV Thank you! I actually used TidyPlates when I played WoW Classic, but I forgot what it was called. Appreciate it. Do you use Omni CC along with it or threatplates or does it not need it?
Not currently, I have been asked that quite a few times actually. It might be something I do in the future but I'm kind of struggling to think of how I can make wiping on a progress boss for 3 hours straight entertaining 😅
You are right, I'm a fool and spliced that talent tree image incorrectly. Hardened soles (3rd row, second from the left) should be blanked out and Brawler's Intensity (fourth row, 1st on the right) should also be blanked out as they are single target talents, not AOE. None of the information changes and that puts you on 30 talents with those two talents blanked out. I'll make a pinned comment about this - thank you for pointing it out.
So it’s all to do with the talent we take at the very bottom left of the Windwalker Tree - it is the choice node and you take a different option based on AoE or ST. For ST you choose knowledge of the broken temple which allows your monastery stacks to reach a total of 8 and you gain 4 stacks instantly after you whirling dragon punch (this is good for ST compared to the other one). The other one is called revolving whirl which gives you a free Spinning Crane Kick Chi Ji proc after you whirling dragon punch (this is good for AoE). So for AoE you are capped at 4 and ST you get a raised cap of 8 because of the choice talent node :)
The only macro that I use attached to my opener is a /use tempered potion for my Storm, Earth, and Fire but if you have a separate button you like using for your pot keep using that as it’s a bit of a bad habit I have 😅 otherwise no real macro for the opener as pretty much all opener abilities are on a GCD. Once you’ve practiced it a few times it will become muscle memory :)
I wonder, isnt it worth to spend 8 stacks of teachings of the monastery before pressing whirling dragon punch? Otherwise you waste free 4 stacks if you use whirling while capped on teachings. I mean it on single target with knowledge of the broken temple talented.
I think you make a valid point and I'd agree that in that situation you are losing resources by WDP first. I think what you'd want to be doing though is trying to avoid getting into a situation where you have an 8 stack BoK and WDP up in the first place - just by playing the priority rotation I find that you usually expend BoK's often enough that reaching 8 stacks tends to only happen after a WDP and not before.
I'm not too sure, that doesn't sound right though! Do you have a raidbots sim profile I could look at or let me know your character name/server and I can look into it for you? :)
Ive done 2 tiger palms then strike of wind lord to rising sun kick to fists if fury then whirling dragon then tiger then sun kick? Is that a bad rotation?
So in AOE there’s two reasons you fists first before rising sun kick. 1) Fists does way more damage so you want to use it first so you get the cool-down rolling asap to have it back up so you can cast it as much as possible 2) A talent we run in all situations called Xuens Battlegear makes your rising sun kick reduce the cool-down of fists of fury by 4 seconds if it crits. So if you fists then rising sun kick there’s a high chance you will get to use fists of fury 4 seconds earlier than if you do it the other way around which is overall a much bigger damage increase because fists hits so hard in AOE.
**At **45:28** - **48:23** I made a slight mistake with the talent tree diagram that I put together.
Nice video! - Some links for those specific dps addons would be awesome too
Chi burst in dungeons is really op! Then there is big pulls, and aswell when you hit a dry spot, you have chi burst. 💪
what WW WA and Plater profile are you using in your video?
However, for now, I'll list out some of the main UI addon's and weakauras I do use below in the meantime :)
1) I use the addon Bartender for all of my bars www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/bartender4
2) I use the Luthox - Monk Weakaura for my main ability/resource section in the middle of the screen (highly recommend) wago.io/LuxthosMonkWarWithin/93
3) I use an enemy ability timeline to clearly visually track what bosses are casting wago.io/RaidAbilityTimeline/75
4) I use the addon Tidyplates for a clean and minimalistic style enemy health bar www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/tidy-plates
5) I have an interrupt tracker weakaura so I can see my groups 'kick' interrupts and when they are on cooldown wago.io/MInterruptTracker/87
Hey!
Appreciate the guide, amazing work and extremely helpful!
Do you happen to have a link for the Flurry Strikes and Wisdom of the Wall WA?
Cheers in advance😊
Of course, sorry the wait! You can get the weakaura that I use for flurry strikes here: wago.io/2ihaxwQAw
and the one of Wisdom of the Wall you can get here: wago.io/JBUzJ11mf
This is it. Every windwalker monk's wet dream. Subscribe guys, he deserves it.
is it correct to think that the "never hold ur RSK, FOF, WDP and SOTWL" comes from the amount of haste we have this xpac? somestimes i think holding SOTWL for FOF is a dps increase (just a thought) like holding for 6s max ( totally a made up number). or clipping your last tick of FOF to get another RSK in the opener with BL (to get another stack of RSK debuff and dont waste energy since its spending is a huge dps increase in this xpac too, also FOF only has 2 stacks)

Thank you! It's always worth casting a full fist of fury if it is your highest priority ability available, you never want to cancel FoF mid-channel as the largest tick of it's damage comes from the very last one.
hell yeah
Bis guide tyvm
Do you know if using abilities in later half of the spinning cranekick makes me loose ticks of dmg?
Yes it does, if you cast an ability during Spinning Crane Kick it will cancel the Spinning Crane Kick and you won’t get the full damage (the same goes for Fists of Fury)
Could you share your talents import strings ? Thanks!
Hey man, nice vid, where did you get the auras for flurry strikes/wotw?
Hi there! You can get the weakaura that I use for flurry strikes here: wago.io/2ihaxwQAw
and the one of Wisdom of the Wall you can get here: wago.io/JBUzJ11mf
@WindwalkerPOV Thank you!
53:00
How can double tiger palm at the start mean you don't have enough chi? It means you started with 6 instead of 4..?
You'd have to guarantee that you hit every parasite from every set with a flurry strike, which is insanely hard on its own. Even then, it still likely wouldn't be on par with Pride of Pandaria!
Basically, it changed my opener order from:
Tiger Palm > SEF > Xuen > SoTW > Tiger Palm > FoF > RSK > WDP to
Tiger Palm > Tiger Palm > SEF > Xuen > SOTW > FoF > Tiger Palm > RSK > WDP
It seems like a really minute difference, but the key change is that FoF will only be buffed by 4 hit combos instead of 5 (Xuen doesn't provide a stack), so it is a slight DPS loss when there didn't need to be one because I started combat with 2 Chi.
The clip itself is more of a demonstration of how variance in the opener and priority, when there doesn't need to be, can lead to situations where you output less dps.
Would you mind linking your weak auras for your UI, because they lock quite nice
The plan is to make a video that goes through my addons and weakauras but I have no set date yet for when this will be released, its definitely on the agenda though :)
@WindwalkerPOV thank you :)
Super job..thank you very much..maybe you have already been asked...but could you also share your UI Wa addon?
Glad you liked the video, I have been asked that loads! The plan is to make a video that goes through my addons and weakauras but I have no set date yet for when this will be released - it is in the works though :)
Do you have the link for the weak auras ? I've been looking for that but there are many options, not sure which one is the best to reproduce the wall buff tracker & flurry strikes tracker
I do indeed, sorry for a delay in getting back to you! You can get the weakaura that I use for flurry strikes here: wago.io/2ihaxwQAw
and the one of Wisdom of the Wall you can get here: wago.io/JBUzJ11mf
Where can I find what weakaura you are using?
Is the craftable tier set worth it. I got it already but should i try hard to keep it equipped or just go with whatever drops thats higher gear ?
What do you mean by craftable tier set? Is that a piece of gear that you have put in the catalyst and converted into a tier set or is it something else? (Just so I understand the question!)
@ i mean the set from leatherworking. I got the Rook feather wrists and the chestpiece, so no normal tier set chest piece but instead the helmet
You would only really replace that with the same item but at a higher level :)
I hope that makes sense!
@@WindwalkerPOV Alright thank you, than i look out for higher rated gear!
@@WindwalkerPOV Thank you kindly , amazing work btw
The time has come!
if only there was such good and in depth guides for every single spec in the game
You’re the man brother 🫡
Thank you! I'm glad you liked the video!
Is there a way to make the Jadefire talents viable? Any combination of the talents, but just making it work in some area?
Detachable Fang gang rise up!😂 This week for sure bro, good luck on the hunt!

and the one of Wisdom of the Wall you can get here: wago.io/JBUzJ11mf
@WindwalkerPOV thank you!
with the recent changes, is RSK still higher prio than BOK? Where does the Teachings of the Monastery play into this? You don't really talk about it
What Nameplate Addon is that?
Also, i always thought I should be priotizing fist of fury and using rising sun kick to reset the cd and using blackout kick to stack transfer the power stacks to power up fof?
Its an addon called Tidyplates and I haven't done any modifications to it so its all baseline :)
In AOE, you would prioritise fists over rising sunkick and then use it to reset the CD, as fists do more damage in AOE, so you want to get that ability out more often.
No I don’t, I think I used those two in classic as well but you shouldn’t have to have those to replicate my nameplate frames.
do you stream mate @Windwalker POV
Not currently, I have been asked that quite a few times actually. It might be something I do in the future but I'm kind of struggling to think of how I can make wiping on a progress boss for 3 hours straight entertaining 😅
I believe you have 32 talent points in your Spec tree at 48:15. Am I missing something?
You are right, I'm a fool and spliced that talent tree image incorrectly. Hardened soles (3rd row, second from the left) should be blanked out and Brawler's Intensity (fourth row, 1st on the right) should also be blanked out as they are single target talents, not AOE. None of the information changes and that puts you on 30 talents with those two talents blanked out. I'll make a pinned comment about this - thank you for pointing it out.
I've blurred those nodes out now so once RUclips updates the video they won't be visibly selected. : )
why are my teachings of the monastery capped at 4 or 6 depending of my AOE vs ST spec versus the 8s he talks about in the video?
Do I need to drop mastery and spam tiger palm only to get shadow out?
No don’t drop mastery, just make sure to try and use it in between each ability instead of pressing multiple chi spenders in a row
I friggin love you
Any Macro recommended to use for openers ?
Why am getting more dps with twohand staff 619, than one hand sword 636 and fist weapon 619?
I'm not too sure, that doesn't sound right though! Do you have a raidbots sim profile I could look at or let me know your character name/server and I can look into it for you? :)
What is the name af your addons :)
Next week we get big WW buffs.
Yeah I know, exciting stuff! hopefully going to have a video about it out tomorrow :)
But why rising sun kick after fists of fury? Why not rising sun kick before fists of fury
@@WindwalkerPOV oh ok, but what about single target is it better to use rising first or still fist of fury
oh they took flying serpent kick off the hit combo list?!
It use to do damage but they removed the damage from it this expansion so it no longer gives you a proc!
