Thank you for your honesty. More and more trans people(male and female) have been speaking out about the problems they've had with bottom surgery and their doctors post-op. I am starting to think that we are pushing these surgeries before we really have perfected them. These doctors should be more honest about the side effects and limitations.
I’m not trans, but it seems these docs want the money and hang the patients out to dry when they get it. This is seen at all levels/types of healthcare, but I imagine is particularly devastating in this scenario, where the patient may need a higher level of support both physically and emotionally. Doctors who do this to patients should be held criminally liable.
People shouldn’t even want these surgeries to begin with being so naive in thinking it’s safe no surgery is technically safe especially altering one’s like this.
@@bobbiross272 3yrs post and mine is literally as if I was born with it. People just need to do their research and not jump the gun, I think the thought of getting rid of dysphoria gets to people strong enough that they try and get whatever they can as fast as they can.
Or maybe just stop what you was intended to be at birth at this rate more little kids are getting pushed into changing gender before they even decide what they want for tea how can they decide at that

I'm an old geezer with a wife & 3 kids, and I am not entirely sure why youtube put one of your vid's in my recommended list, but one thing I can say after watching several of them is:
*You Are Tough As Nails!* Your descriptions of the medical issues you've gone thru make me want to curl into a ball & whimper and cry. Oh my God.. I cannot imagine going thru this. I stubbed my toe this morning, and I will probably complain & whine about it until 2028.
My only suggestion for these great videos: Don't address trolls, f|_|ck those f|_|ckers..

I have respect for you. Some people glamourize the surgery and don't receive enough info. Your channel, your words, your honesty.
It is your life and your choises.
It is such a shame that RUclips punishes people like her, who would be more honest about what it actually means to transition if they were allowed to do so. Mostly we see only the positive, but the negative side of these surgeries is actually more important for someone considering undergoing penile inversion to hear and understand! Not to try to prevent them from transitioning, but to save them so much physical and mental pain that could have been prevented if they just knew how difficult it was going to be!
I am going to get minimal depth vaginoplasty to avoid as many complications as possible and requires minimal care.
I am tired of tucking and having parts I don't want. It's a very strong feeling and always has been.
Your authenticity is literally the most attractive thing about you. It is hard to find people who are prepared to be so vulnerable. Thank you for your honesty and openness. It is valued and I know that you will keep living your truth and I for one will be happy to see your videos on food , fun and travel as you roll along thru this crazy life.

This is the first video I’ve seen of yours. I think your approach to this very complicated subject feels genuine and caring. You look super classy not over the top with tons of makeup, the off one shoulder top, and gigantic boobs. You look like a regular classy lady. Very pretty and put together.
I think a lot of the detransitioners have expressed how the medical system drops them after surgery. It’s so common and I’m glad you brought that up. Doctors know the high risk and they bounce after cashing in. A lot of people have to remember that you are now a life long patient so finding a doctor who is invested long term is key.
Doctors know it's a con act. It's not cool to unnecessarily turn perfectly healthy people into lifetime medical patients.
Technically everyone is a “life long patient” everyone I know is on some form of medication.
@@tula1433 that’s beyond untrue. If seeing a doctor for a checkup once a year means a life long patient to you then your idea of patient is skewed. I rarely know anyone under 50 who needs medication regularly. My own mother is as healthy as an ox and she’s almost 60.

I watched a Blair White video with a detransitioner because I wanted to hear what they had to say. It was a new take for me as a trans ally. It took me down a rabbit hole of Blair videos until I really was so scared for every trans person ever. Thank you for sharing a story with both ups and downs instead of just one side of the story. I think your stance on not recommending the surgery makes the most sense of anything Ive heard. You are gorgeous and I wish you all the best!
Channels like Blaire's address the lies and propaganda spread by the activists of the community, that's why her channel exists and that's what she uses her platform for. But she, herself, is trans and is very happy with herself. It's about watching more than one channel and perspective. Buck Angela and Marcus Dib are fantastic trans content creators. I like Blaire but prefer their channels.
Her channel is a right wing one and she featured Alex Jones who just lost a lawsuit because of defamation. He said a mass shooting in an elementary school didn't happen and harrased grieving families. So she was fine talking to him.

Retired MD here. I've seen lots of complications with these surgeries. It all depends on the surgeon you had. Lots of incompetent doctors out there. You look nice and seem sensible and a good person. Just go and live your best life.

I had a surgery in Quebec just before the pandemic (not a gender reassignment) and to this day I was never able to have a follow up with my doctor and went through a rough recovery with no help from the system. @Simon Marcotte Most men pretending to be women select their wardrobe with great care. They are far less apt to dress casual or carelessly, as a REAL woman often does. You also rarely see them without a full makeup job too.

Funny thing is, the ones that don’t make a big circus act about being trans, are actually the most believable. Like they pass as cis women/men and if they didn’t say anything, most of society wouldn’t even know that they were trans. I think personally that if most trans were like her, our society would be a much safer and kinder place for the trans community in general. (I’m not at all condoning mistreating others who are doing their trans journey differently, I just think that this is the case unfortunately in the world we live in).

I am an Israeli trans woman who had her SRS four years ago at 71😲! I whole heartily agree with everything you have spoken here, I see you as a very gifted and courageous woman who is an incredible asset to the world. I myself need a surgical revision that was finally done two years later. I can say with you that for me too this was entirely the right decision and I am delighted that I did it. I’m only seeing your video till now. If I walk past you I wouldn’t have known you have transitioned, WOW this is definitely your destiny. Apart from all the pain you go through, physically and mentally to transition is the downsize, but through it all it was worth it in the end. As a woman I can tell you that we don't spend any time at all either looking at our vulva or thinking about our vulva AT ALL.
Why would we?
We just get on with life.
It's part of our body, always has been. We don't think about them, compare them to anyone else's.
Unless women watch porn they'll never see another woman's vulva. We have no interest in seeing anyone else's. Or in porn.
No secure, well adjusted woman spends any time, thought it energy in thinking about their own vulva or anyone else's.
Maybe insecure women or girls do, especially given a certain section of society's obsession with them. (An unhealthy obsession in my opinion)
But average, regular women?
Zero time. Zero thought. We have lives to live, things to do.
We spend no more time thinking/obsessing about them than we do about our little toe or any other body part!!! 🤦🏻♀️

I really worry about a lot of folks who are transitioning but I think you are an example of how taking your time before making a huge surgery and passing before hand is the right way to go about it. I fully resonated with everything you said. I also had issues with hyper granulation in the first 2-3 years of my recovery, yet in my country we don’t even have gynecologists that know how to use silver nitrate (or care about trans women)🤡 I related so much to your story, becoming your own doctor.

Gynecologists are not competent to care for a trans women's neo vagina. It should be your surgeon or an after care consultant specific to trans women. It's a completely different anatomy than a biological female and that's not a gynecologist's fault.
@@kezzokav5905 it’s literally the same anatomy. The same materials in the same positions. The difference would be that there’s no cervix, uterus etc which is all the way inside. In addition, there are biological women who had their own reproductive organs removed, so it’s not even an exclusive-trans thing.

Seems like a hole or a wound that if not taken care of could be bad or allow to close up and heal…😮hormones can be dangerous for natural women I couldn’t imagine being on opposite harmones especially for long periods of time….no a natural born woman does not have such struggles…

Thank you for some of your insights on this part of your transition process. Surgery is such a personal decision to make. Also I have followed you for a couple of years already prior to coming out myself. You are truly inspiring to me.
The surgery will one day be seen as the lunacy it is. Doctors who do this are criminals. They want money and they don't care. They dropped him as soon as they got paid. If I wanted my leg amputated they'd tell me no, yet they'll cut off sex organs. That's deranged.
I'm just a crossdresser who, as I've grown older, become much more active in my dressing. Over my many years around the CD/TG community, I've met, become friends with, and have been intimate with a number of women who have had no real choice in their lives but to physically change their "wrong", or male, bodies to become their true selves. Maya couldn't be more correct in not recommending GRS surgery except in extraordinary circumstances. And changing one's body and mental state from one gender is truly extraordinary! None of my many friends who have taken this radical step to become their true selves have had it "easy". This entire process is lengthy, grueling, and painful. Is/was it worth the effort to my friends? All of them have told me, "Yes", but they were exhausted, mentally more than physically. It took a while after the "final" surgery for them to fully realize their true selves. They all "needed" to become their true selves, but they all told me the journey was more difficult by orders of magnitude than they thought it would be. Would they do it again? They still said, "Yes". Maya, in addition to being a complete and beautiful woman, is one strong and tough woman!
Yes time the trans community starts separating agp transvestites and crossdressers who transition due to transvestic fetishism. Actual HSTS like Maya need to transition.

My friend Shay died as a result of GRS complications. She was loved by many. This surgery, like any other, has risks. In death her family buried her under her male name. It was so sad. I hope that no one else goes through that so please don’t anyone take this lightly.
Sad fact: the online community is deliberately heavily targeting young lesbians, claiming there's no such thing-that if a woman is attracted to women she's transsexual. So then you and your friends don't either-you aren't queens, you need to get sugery. Much respect. I've never had a problem with all kinds of people, but this new multiple sexual "identity" stuff and especially what is being done to our children.💔😭

Maya, I've literally been verbally attacked in the past when being so honest on transgender issues. I was "an idiot ", a "trouble starter", etc according to those few young transwomen. As if they knew diddly damn on the subject. My years meant nothing to them. They didnt want my wisdom. I was "busting their bubble", so to speak. So, THANK YOU for posting your HONEST experience and advice. Maybe, just maybe they'll listen to you. You're amazing and beautiful Maya ❤
I think one of the most important things you said here is that people who choose to go through this surgery is that you are saddling yourself with a lifetime of continued and constant medical care necessity. A lifetime is a very long time to be reliant on any healthcare system. It can be exhausting.

Advocating for your own healthcare is an absolute must in all cases. If you feel like you aren't getting the treatment you need, advocate! Thank you for sharing your experience even though you know you'll have negative responses. What you're doing is important

OMG giving up on doctors and just finally learning how to treat yourself: the hallmark of Canadian healthcare. By the way, Maya Henry, I love your style.
It's amazing to me that people were getting cancer appointments cancelled during covid and yet the medical establishment prioritised your surgery when there was nothing physically wrong with you at the time.
I took a very long time to have surgery, about seven years into HRT, and definitely after fully understanding myself as a woman socially and feeling out whether I could function/be comfortable in the world in the way I want to without it or not.
Today I am, as of tomorrow, one week post-op and so far it has been absolutely brutal. I had a complication very shortly after surgery which resulted in a very traumatic night of bleeding etc and a revision surgery the very day after the initial procedure. I can't bring myself to describe it more thoroughly. It's funny I was scared of completely different things, it's like God tried to trump by biggest fear.
The following days I was absolutely wrecked and depressed and am just now starting to become more positive again (as things have been very stable since), though it is still scary. Luckily, I'm in another country where this procedure is part of socialised health-care, and my entire transition they have been quite reliable. Hoping they'll stay that way now that I need it most.
I love your sharing your experiences, as it did help me set some realistic expectations pre-surgery, though nothing could really prepare me for what went down in the end (what will go down I'm sure). In the aftermath of being traumatised and in pain, and unable to move, I did have to face my choice to commit to surgery in a way I wasn't prepared to. I'd never been through something so scary or physically taxing, and the trauma I was going over all the time made me feel like it would last forever. It was like I was in purgatory. It's a lot better now - the longest week of my life.
Agree with all your advice! I'm so glad I've had reliable medical staff this past week, and friends and family surrounding me through it. And at this point, when I'm not actively scared of dying or just of being in hospital in general (where I still am), I'm really happy about my choice and looking forward to recovering in the best way possible. Will also be in touch with my therapist soon to set up some help with all that mental anguish.

Finding what is right, sifting through what is difficult, and learning that the eternal flame of our spirit burns brighter than the physical form. I obsessed over recovery and what it would mean for my life, but now I am much more at peace, level-headed, and grounded in my own personal resilience and love for my energy beyond what is physical!

And definitely everyone needs to be their own medical advocate and personal “nurse” to survive w/how the government is controlling what a doctor can and can’t do these days, like w/controlling a doctor’s care of one’s physical, not mental, pain from injuries & surgeries.

Like all of us (almost) I always wanted to be a girl. I hid it from everyone. In 1969, age 26, I began my transition. In the mid 1970’s I made a huge mistake and had a thyroid cartilage shave by a doctor who told me he was experienced in doing ‘those’. He wasn’t. He took off too much and it ruined me. I could not talk for years, I was in constant pain, and I couldn’t swallow anything without contorting my neck. About 18 months later when I realized it would never get better, I attempted suicide. I missed. I went back to being a man.
About 25 years later, the cartilage began to grow and everything started getting better. I began contemplating transitioning again. My voice was improving, still low and gruff, though. I didn’t have to contort my neck quite as much to swallow. But it was getting better and I had hope,
I transitioned 2008, had GRS 2009. And my life has never been as good.
I questioned myself about getting the surgery right up to the point where they put the IV in my arm and I went out. I tried to tell them that I didn’t want it, but I couldn’t. I hated myself for six months after. Then I began loving myself… I still do. Again, my life has reached it apex. I’m very happy. By the way, I’ll be 80 next month.
I was fortunate that I passed effortlessly. It made all the difference in passing and getting through life smoothly.
My advice to anyone who plans to transition is: 1) get a good job and trade you can do as woman and get paid well for. 2) For God’s, get your beard removed.

Please listen to some videos from 'Isle of Ex' before getting surgery. She talks about the ever so likely complications of SRS surgery for both men and women and she has a medical background. Be prepared for the high possibility of life long issues with UTI's, kidney infections, kidney stones, inability to urinate, cathaters, fistulas, sespis, loss of sexual function, lose of libido, etc etc. You will regret it. Everyone does.

Good video, we need more honest and nuanced conversations about this. I think it gets so overly glamorized and pushed as the “norm” that a lot of people think they have to have this major surgery to be validated and that’s a harmful idea. I think the reason some people become so depressed after this surgery is that they thought it would be the final piece and all their problems would end, and realizing afterwards that it hasn’t is rough. Or even worse, the people who have bad outcomes or complications that seriously affect their health. It’s not all sunshine and rainbows and people need realistic expectations before making a decision like this.
Just a quick tidbit, the gland that lubricates females doesn't just "lubricate upon pleasure". It also just lubricates to protect, to minimize pain, tearing and other painful things. Also just because depending on your age. That is all.
For sure but we have an analogous gland that is left intact that does the same, cowpers! That’s why I didn’t address this as a focal point of difference.
I am not a proponent of trans surgery--or surgery in general-but I see you here as a beautiful woman, and I like the way you talk, and the way your voice sounds.
As a Christian I honestly believe that God doesn't make mistakes, but I respect your feelings and experiences and honesty.

Maya is beautiful cannot take that away from her but, choosing to have various surgeries is not brave, fireman, solders that fight to protect and loosing limbs and trying to adjust is brave, doctors that help to save lives on the front line is brave.

When a person chooses to have various surgeries it is not classed as brave, the meaning is: ready to face and endure danger pain via lose of limbs, showing courage firemen, soldiers, doctors that help in a war zone and so forth.
Let me tell you. You are a beautiful woman. I am happy that you feel better after you surgery. I heard so many horror stories about bottom surgeries that is a relief when it goes well.

It's interesting that here in Australia it has become law that adults either in school or parents cannot interfere with any child choosing to gender reassign. What is now happening is that some transgendering too young are realising they've made a mistake but it's to late. I think it's important to educate that transgendering is not necessarily the answer to all your problems & whatever issues you may have had before might still be there later
