My stepdaughter had a breast reduction because her breasts were so large they were giving her back issues. Her insurance would not cover it. She had to pay 9k to have her breasts reduced to a C cup. Her insurance does however, cover gender transition. So if she wanted her breasts completely removed, they would've covered it. We are living in 🤡 world!

As an aside it is frustrating to me to hear that 18 year old girls are getting testosterone after a single phone consult. As a born natural man who needs testosterone to be healthy, I had to go through months of labs and appts and hoops to get medicine I needed (testosterone) for low T. First they even made me (again I am and always have been male and have never questioned that for even a moment) take a medicine that elderly women take first. It gave me hot flashes and sensitive nipples. After that and a half dozen lab tests I finally did get it. But how are they getting it so easily?
I'm 70. I never felt comfortable with my body growing up or with the girlie-girl things. I was a tomboy. I enjoyed sports. I'm so glad I wasn't exposed to the mass media as it is today. I started having fun as a woman in my late 20s when I was buying clothes, working, and building my confidence. Maturing into one's body takes time. The rush to make such a drastic change to one's body that will carry a lifetime effect on a person seems criminal to me. I'm thankful that Katie and Chloe are speaking up about this. It seems the focus in today's world is to feel good by getting a rush or high, which is usually just a temporary fix. I wish you both a good and happy life.
After watching numerous detransitioning videos it appears to me that the medical community: 1) is fearful of being called transphobic and 2) these young people to the medical and pharmacy industry are cash cows; clients for life. So truly sad.

In 1995 I almost died during my pregnancy. Doctors couldn't promise that it wouldn't happen again. I wanted to have my tubes tied, but they wouldn't clear me for surgery due to being so young. It amazes me how they would allow such young children to be completely mutilated.
That's actually STILL the case. It's quite hard for a young childless woman to get their tubes tied. Doctors just won't do it. "Oh you'll change your mind about not having kids one day." Shit like that. But if that some woman said, "Remove my uterus and mangle my genitalia into a freakish penis-like mass." (Which would render them unable to have children of course.) They wouldn't even be questioned and the doctors would be happy to do it. Things are just getting INSANE. (Although I'm surprised they gave you so much trouble if you already had a kid and you almost died having one...)
This is something I've been thinking about alot. They'll make you go through hell if you want to get your tubes tied because you don't want kids for example, but if your trans all of this is a no brainer. I'm so confused
I'm a mental health professional. I have worked with people who have eating disorders, schizophrenia, and severe depression just to name a few. In eating disorders, it is common for them to believe they are overweight when they weigh around 100 pounds or less. If an eating disorder went seeking a weight loss surgery because they believe they are fat, would a doctor do it? In one client with schizophrenia, he was absolutely convinced that he had a machine in his head and he traveled all over the state looking for a surgeon to remove the device from his brain because well, if you believe you have a device in your brain then obviously, you have a device in your brain, right? Needless to say, he never found a surgeon willing to do it. Severe depression, they believe they are worthless and unlovable. Should I affirm them because of their beliefs that they are worthless? Excellent work Katie and Chloe. My hearts aches for those who truly feel uncomfortable in their bodies but surgery is not the answer. Also, I worry my career is at stake for speaking out against transitioning.
You are so right, and I have used this analogy of the eating disorders before. Just because someone believes something about themselves doesn't mean it is true.
Many years ago, before transitioning was such a thing, I saw a programme about the mental health problems of people who hated one of their limbs “this arm isn’t mine! I want it removed!” Of course, no surgeon even considered it for a moment.
In Belgium, if you are severely depressed and believe you are worthless they will allow you to euthanize yourself, so yes, m sure with American health care it will one day get to that point over here too 🙃

I am recovering from a myomectomy right now due to fibroids. An acquaintance of mine just had a double mastectomy due to breast cancer. These are very serious surgeries with real possible complications and life long ramifications. It’s wild that they are being done on healthy young people.
Exactly. I had uterine cancer and that is why I had to have the hysterectomy. Doctors used to refuse to do that to young women who had not had children yet.
I'm 73. I was a tomboy. I loved playing with my dog, riding my bike, playing baseball with my grandpa and catching bugs. I was a science nerd - still am. I'd rather read and watch thrillers than rom-coms and I still do. But I'm a woman and I am so happy to have grown up back when people were sensible.

Transitioning with hormones and surgery is madness.

My sister (80) and myself (77) were talking about this nonsense that’s going on today. We were both tomboys and wished we were boys. But back then boys had so much more freedom than girls and we wanted that freedom and to have adventures too! I read boys books and adult books, I certainly wasn’t a girly girl. As we grew up we realised that we didn’t really want to be boys but we worked to get the important things for girls and women - equal pay for equal work, equal opportunities, sexual freedom (up to a point), the ability to travel the world without a man at your side (unless you wanted him there). We, and our sisters of the world, achieved that and so much more but there are still barriers to overcome. So I look at young people like this young woman and my heart bleeds for her. She will never know the joy of carrying a child to term and holding her baby in her arms. And before any of you Trans people start shouting about the fact that not all women can have babies - this young woman probably would have been able to like the majority of women. You and your sick and twisted ideology have taken that away from her! And, let’s get one thing straight, I am NOT a CIS person, an ovary bearing person or any of those other demeaning terms you wish to use about me and my sisters. WE ARE WOMEN! These girls would not know the words trans, cis, body mismorphia, gender fluid, etc.if not for SM. I have a 15 yr old granddaughter going through - talk about "getting her boobs cut off." Many of the kids in her school seem to be the same way. My granddaughter is very curvy. Tiny waist, hips and quite developed. Nothing she can do will make her look like a boy. But it is the psychological damage I fear the most.
I was a tomboy too, and I used to tell my parents I "should" have been born a boy. "Well, you NOT" wasn't the answer I wanted to hear, but it's the truth. But if I would've been born a few years later, society would've "diagnosed" me as a trans boy. As an adult, the vast majority of my coworkers have always been male, and my work clothes have always been Carhartts, a hard hat, and steel toe boots. But I can still enjoy being feminine, like at the family reunion where my profile pic was taken (my Facebook profile pic, in contrast, is my hard hat, lol). It's scary what's being done to kids now, and I'm so grateful for courageous women like these, who are speaking out about the dangers. It's fine to be a tomboy! It's fine to be a feminine boy! We don't need to alter our bodies to align with some stereotype.

Robot was my favourite toy, not Barbie, and Mutant Ninja Turtles was my favourite cartoon. So what? I actually thought every girl was a tomboy because I had no image of girls my age doing tea parties - many played football with boys. So what? Being tomboy means nothing, absolutely nothing. Perfectly natural. If anyone asks me as a child if I want to be a boy - I would have answered: "of course, who wouldn't?" It would have sounded cool to me because my brother was cool. I grew up to become a 100% heterosexual woman who loves girly things, too. What's being a tomboy in childhood got to do with anything? In fact, wearing shorts, T-Shirt and jeans as a girl child is very practical and comfortable, and what girl child won't want to play a football for fun once in a while. What a joke.
A nurse is not in any way shape or form qualified to diagnose gender dysphoria. Both things can be true here. There are just tomboys and feminine men that are happy as their assigned gender and there are actual transgender people.
Agreed. I was somewhat of a tomboy as well. All of the our neighborhood kids, boys AND girls, played baseball/softball, street & ice hockey, etc. It was a normal part of life. I totally agree. My daughter is a long-boarder, isn't "girly-girly" as she says, her best friends are guys. She's even one of the first female boy scouts in an all female troop. She's an Eagle Scout who has camped when it was 23 degrees and hiked when it was over 100. Her straight black hair is below her waist. At 18, she's never cared about make-up, but she is all girl all the time. I'm saddened to see that this young woman thought she fit into the "lesbian-category" because she was into sports. The horror of the mutilations she was encouraged to do is heart-breaking. These women have lost so much that they will never be able to get back that I think we as a society should start pressing for criminal charges against physicians who do this.

When I was 27 (29 years ago) I was told in no uncertain terms that I was too young to have my tubes tied. Afterall, I only had 1 kid. When I was 30, I had to "convince" the doctor that my husband would not want more kids, in order to receive a tubal ligation. I can not even wrap my mind around how flippantly these surgeries are being done.
Oh come on, you know exactly why they say you're too young ... they want to make sure you really don't want to pop a few more out. If they deny a woman in her twenties the surgery because of the risks, that means she has more chances of conforming to society as a mother of 1-4 children. At 35 and with 3 kids in tow, my husband and I both needed to meet with a surgeon 3 times to "confirm" we really wanted a surgical contraceptive approach before he would even consider operating...

I’m a woman. I usually wear men’s clothes because they are warmer, they have more pockets, and they are easier to wash. But I am very heterosexual and certainly have never had any dysphoria. Someone should be telling young women that they can wear whatever they want to!
Levi jeans fit better than women's jeans. I don't have the hourglass waist. Small breasted. Never attracted to women. Split wood, learned construction. Kept very fit. Changed my oil, could put on a set of tire chains, change a tire. I had to learn to do everything. Worked at everything from wood shop to hair salon. Never once did I wish to be male or lesbian.
I realized this early; women can enjoy the benefits of being a tomboy and of being a woman! I got to train horses, milk cows, climb trees & play sports as well as wear dresses and be treated special as a woman! Later enjoy being pregnant and being a mother!! WOMEN CAN HAVE IT ALL! @joce11 I used to hear about the occasional person getting what was then called a sex-change operation and didn't bat an eyelash except to say "oh, okay - I wondered what happened to him" I don't know who's makimg money from this or who has what kind of stake in the issue - the more people they can talk into becoming non-binary or making a transition, the more SOME sort of purpose is being served. I was too busy being a tomb boy spending time outdoors and on horseback. No time or interest in boys at that age but still, I am a happily married mom now.
I was still playing with dolls at 13. I got into horses, drill team and tennis. My parents kept my sister and distracted with activity, chores, school and I got a work permit at 15 to work part-time at a steak house. I had a hand full of friends and acquaintances we went canoeing, camping and we fished with my brothers, Then at 16 my body bloomed, breasts, curves, and I was tall. I was by 18, looking 21 and could go to discos to dance. That’s when the “men” vs high school boys were much more aggressive in pursuing girls, all those guys wanted was sex. What a turn off. Didn’t help being called Prudence Pig, Prude, frigid, etc. I matured physically fast, but still a girl. Other girls were on the pill. I was terrified of guys.
I am 63. When I was a girl, I was an absolute tomboy. I had no interest in dolls, played football with the boys, climbed trees, and looked for frogs in the creek. I liked the freedom that boys had and claimed it as my own. I often said I wished I was a boy. My mother tried to shame me into wearing dresses but I didn’t care and only complied when we had to go to church each Sunday. thank God I wasn’t born during these times because I probably would have wanted to “transition“. It wasn’t until I was in college that I settled in to being comfortable and thankful to be a woman. I raised a wonderful daughter of my own who happens to have always been very feminine and loved dolls, dress up , makeup and her “girly girl“ things. She still loves her make up and matching outfits and has a corporate job where everyone appreciates her style and pulled together appearance. I am still a tomboy, I just purchased my dream farm and love getting dirty in the mud, milking goats and working my land in my overalls. To each her own!

My main take away from this is that social media is damaging to developing minds and bodies. It seemingly has the power to convince our youth to do many dangerous things. I don’t know what can be done about it, but things need to change if we care about future generations.
If society would just permit the more masculine girls and feminine boys to have a seat at the table without being ridiculed, bullied, threatened, shunned, etc. then a lot of this could be avoided.
The worrying thing is even a short time ago this was happening. A lot of people (myself included) are talking about growing up as "tomboys" and it was largely just shrugged off and not something that had to be "fixed". They just decided to let kids be kids and find their own identity instead of putting gender labels on everything.

Some boys have more sensitive, artistic, emotional personalities, but that doesn't make them feminine. Feminine describes female, which is something that no boy can be.

This makes me so angry because actual trans people know this. Their goal is not to become the other sex. Their goal is to minimize their condition. I am almost 40. It takes years to feel confident in our bodies. Maternity helps A LOT. We see how wonderful our bodies can be and experience unconditional love. We start seeing ourselves how our children see us. To them we are beautiful no matter what. Cross culturally women experience discomfort and ackwardness in our adolescence. It gets better with time as we mature. Young girls need to hear this more often... it is normal to feel that way... and eventually you'll get over it. Womanhood is not a feeling , it is a physical reality we all experience. Wearing pants and liking sports does not make you a man. I never thought in this era we would have such regressive and stereotipycal thinking.
I can not love your comment enough! The only thing that helped my body dysmorphia was pregnancy and giving birth! It actually breaks my heart thinking about the way I used to see my body.. but after a very smooth pregnancy, a fast and easy labour and recovery and the fact that I bounced right back after pregnancy, made me love and admire my body for what it is capable of, and I feel terrible for not being proud of it during its whole development.. I honestly don't know a single woman who wasn't uncomfortable with her body at some stage during puberty - telling these girls that what they're actually experiencing is "gender dysphoria" is criminal.
@@loosilu that was me. it was hard to accept that I am an incubator, and a dairy farm. then i had this idea to free women from this burden. I started to research artificial wombs, how to invent one. And what I learned - it is very complicated and also not safe for babies and just no way it could be affordable. And then I thought: "My body is an incubator and a dairy farm. This is so amazing!" in a way female bodies do not completely belong to them, they have parts to connect to other people, they have parts to form and grow new people. we are not lonely, we are part of the society, we are important.
So sad to hear how harmful drugs and surgeries were given to this dear young woman. It’s good to hear the healthy and positive ways that she is now experiencing life. It just seems to me that our society is incredibly lost. We are all chasing 'euphoria', when in reality, most of life is just plodding along. It convinces me more and more that the old Princess Bride quote "Life is pain. Anyone who tells you different is selling something" is true. This girl is showing how this really is trendy. It is called social contagion and social media can certainly make it travel intensely and quickly. People have been influenced for centuries. Females are generally more likely to be influenced due to hormones and emotions/being more agreeable.
Wonderful description of our culture! There is definitely a push from the media which is working well, unfortunately. It's being pushed into every avenue of our lives, not just the media, and kids get the message that everyone wants to see them transition.
I think big pharma and China are likely the guys really pushing the agenda. Trans people are on hormones for life.. and its a great distraction for the ever growing threat of economic takeover China has been enacting for decades now. By China I mean the CCP.

Most us actually think deep and hard about those decisions prior to making them. Additionally, if i decide i am going to study history and later find i ought to have chosen English i am not now suddenly unable to study history. Similarly, if i choose the wrong lifetime mate there is always an off ramp if it doesn’t work out. Those are massive differences. If it is going to make you more comfortable in your body- the right body for you-I think it is okay to do these things. What I think is important if you feel like you are in the wrong body at a very young age take hormones to delay puberty so you have time to be sure you want to go through this transformation.

I'm always baffled by the stories where people say they thought they were a transgender person because they didn't fit the common stereotypes. When I was a kid it was perfectly normal that there were girly boys and boyish girls. And majority of kids were in fact neutral. There was nothing striking in their outward expression that would suggest they are feminine or masculine. I wonder if it's a cultural thing but as someone growing up in Central Europe, I don't feel that gender was emphasized as much as it appears in stories of these people coming from the USA or Canada. One can't put gender on interests. One can't say that a boy who likes to play with dolls or paint his nails is a girl or a girl that is only interested in sports is a boy. That's insane. I believe that society should rather stop catering to stupid stereotypes and create healthy role models for kids who deviate from "the norm" instead of suggesting them hormonal therapy and SRS. Tell me what kind of world is this if universal health care insurance in some countries can cover the treatment for transgender people but refuses to cover birth control pills for biological women who have hormonal issues that severely reduce quality of their life? How come anyone isn't questioning why it's still so hard for many girls to get proper information on how to fight hormonal imbalances, PMS and abnormal periods? I find it absurd how I hear from everywhere how fragile and sensitive hormonal systems are and how hard it is to figure out what's wrong, yet when it comes to transition they don't seem to think twice about how will individuals respond to hormones of the opposite sex.

Thank you for speaking out. I remember telling my father at age 13 that i didn't want to be a girl or a boy. I just wanted to be a human. I was a late bloomer when it came to dating but im soon celebrating 47 years of marriage and grateful for my life and my family. I found more satisfaction in being a mom than any other part of my life. I am educated and had a career but my children are still my greatest joy.
I couldn’t get my tubes tied after my third child. My doc refused. Later I was glad as I went to have two more babies. And this doc took all her reproductive system out just like that! That’s evil! Is pure evil! God help us! Thank you for your courage and speaking out. We have to stop this madness!
I wanted to have my tubes tied at 19. Every doctor refused on the grounds that I was too young to know I didn't want kids. I finally got my tubes tied at 29 after psychological assessment to rule out I made that decision based on traumatic experiences. I'm very happy that I finally got the surgery. The point is it took 10 years for them to be sure I wouldn't regret it but they don't hesitate to remove whole reproductive systems and breasts from 18 year olds if they think they should have been born a different sex. Mind blowing.

I bled out the same way after my csection. It was horrific and I woke from a coma. The soft landing was that my little baby boy was there when I awoke. I can’t imagine the pain and horror this poor woman went through and hope she finds peace

Hi Chloe. I am a 25 yr old female. Growing up, I was similar to your guest speaker. I was very much so a tom boy. I even thought I was lesbian at one point simply because of how I carried myself and how different I was from other girls. Thankfully, when I was a teen, transgenderism was fairly taboo. I understand now that I would’ve easily fallen into this trap if somebody allowed me to. I was a depressed kid. Many bad childhood experiences. And have Asperger’s syndrome. I am much happier now. I have an incredible relationship, great job, and thankfully… my health. We need to protect our fellow girls who may not be completely gender conforming. I love you all. Keep up the good work. This woman would have been saved this trauma if people had just replied …well you are a girl, like it or lump it. A young girl at my daughters school was acting the same for years, she was a tomboy, wore the boys school uniform etc. She’s now living happily as a gay woman. This was thirty years ago, so before the trend luckily for her.
The first time I saw you smile was when you talked about your pastor and using your birth name. It sounds like you began fighting back to the dysphoria all on your own at first. Your own personal warrior arose within you. What an inspiration you are! Great interview really.

An interview between two intelligent, experienced, informed people on any topic is rare. I'm not a transitionist, I was a tomboy who grew up to be a dyke in a dress. I've been mistaken for a man all my life, being tall and skinny, never had a need for a bra, I cut my hair short and a lot of people when they find out I'm a woman offer to beat me up. At 66 I need this like I need a hole in the head. Whatever it is of me, one of the greatest joys of my life is having loved a man and a woman. I can say: gender is real, whichever it is. I knew a woman who told me she didn't know what male privilege was until she didn't have it anymore, and a man who, and Katie Anderson touched on this, was frightened by the aggression he developed with testosterone. The issue is that most 18 yr olds in the past WERE adults. I don't say this to disparage younger people but because it's true; few modern 18 yr olds think like adults. Instead of getting jobs, doing chores or taking care of younger siblings, they play video games or stay on social media. Instead of actually talking to one another, they text. These devices are stunting their mental & emotional growth.

As a girly girl, I HATED puberty. It was mortifying, and I wasn't ready. I just wanted to stay as I was before thirteen. Periods and boobs disrupted my whole life and the way people looked at me, so I would have done anything to put it on pause. Thank goodness that option was not available then.

Katie is one impressive person. Her final words were so perfect. Shame is a powerful emotion but such an amazing individual to go through such trauma, come out the other side, and then not look for sympathy but rather express the regret for the pain and suffering that she feels hers actions caused onto others. That is character of the hightest level!
My grandchild is working towards F2M transition and I have fears that he will regret that in the future as his story started the same as Katie's. While I have no intention of quashing his plans, I'd suggest he view and really pay attention to Katie. TY both so much for your honesty in this interview.
Katie herself explained that being affirmed by people in her life helped embolden her and keep her on the wrong track. Stepping in and being real can be the most loving thing to do when someone is heading down a dark path.

First of all stop looking online to find your identity. Your body parts are all you need to confirm who you are. Who doesn’t feel awkward at puberty!!! Good grief people!! It’s all good you’ve come out of that confusion, but what a price to pay. I was a tomboy, I wore my brothers clothes, I hated the changes, but never in my life did I consider lopping off body parts, believing I’m not who I was born to be. What a messed up world we live in. 😢
What if you had been told your interests and discomfort with your bodily changes during puberty meant you were actually a male, and that you required medications and surgeries in order to resolve your "birth defect"?
I really think social media is a big motivator for young people to change their gender. They tell you that you are probably someone else than who you are. It’s like those stupid tests you take where if you answer yes to so many questions on the list then you’re depressed. Or you’re gender dysphoric.

My wife was a tomboy. She wasn’t always comfortable with her femininity, and as a tall girl, and later a very tall woman it was even tougher. She wore boys clothes quite often. Her mom was a single parent who worked nights, so she didn’t have a lot of help with feminine things like makeup, hair, clothing etc. She eventually ended up becoming friends with women who helped her with all that stuff. I can only imagine how many tomboys will never get that sort of a chance to blossom into the beautiful, amazing women that they could have been, after falling into the gender cult and being exploited by all the insane teachers, clinicians and social workers who’ve also been captured by it.
What if someone don't want "make up, hair and dress"? You behave like it is something essential in life. I am 26 years old women and I hate all of this stereotypical female stuff. It is for me pure vanity and conumptionism. I like my natural face, hair and body. We need to develop in more important things as humans.

You aren’t trans. You were a “Tomboy”. Big difference. The majority of trans people wish that they had been able to be themselves as kids. 99% of trans people do not regret their transition. While I’m sorry that Chloe’s experience was bad, she represents 1% of trans people. While she blames doctors, it’s her parents that are to blame.
@@mitch103178 That 1% regret rate is quite outdated. I think it's from 2003 (?) (Someone help me out with the date of that study, please.) That was back when there was rigorous gatekeeping regarding making these cosmetic changes. Since then, cross-sex identity activists have "successfully" demanded that almost all the gatekeeping be removed. As a result, the main cohort is very different - adolescent or teen girls - who don't receive the safeguarding that the 2003 generation did. That is one of the key reasons attributed to why regret and/or detransition is far more common nowadays. S E GM do t o r g says the regret or detrans rate may be as high as 30% today

I want to thank you for sharing your story. Mine is In 1982 I wore women's tops and carried a purse in my junior year in high school (i was just trying to figure me out). Today I'm a happy married gay man with a wonderful husband. Today they would have most likely encouraged me to transition to female and totally mess me up. Our current environment scares the hell out of me and I worry about the younger generation. DO NOT LET THEM SILENCE YOU!

Katie, Your decision to challenge yourself to allow emotions but put your emotions in context and overcome them when you decide that is best is badass. This is what we all need to learn to do, and you have nailed it. You are a true inspiration! Also, we have ALL made poor decisions. Every one of us. When we walk out the consequences of those mistakes, we learn and grow, and it is those very lessons that make us strong and solid. Not surprised when she said that doctors thought she was high functioning autistic. I’m also on the spectrum, and could of totally seen myself going down this road if I’d been born 20 years later. So glad I didn’t. This needs to be looked into further.
It's been looked into. A lot of children and teenagers presenting in gender clinics are on the spectrum. And others are gay. Autistic and gay children are being sterilised and mutilated in the name of gender ideology, and it breaks my heart.

Given that we’ve known for years that ND folk are more likely to be GNC, this isn’t wholly surprising - although we seemed to do ok without transitioning in the past. About 30% of kids transitioning are thought be autistic, but when, as a psychologist, I’ve asked why a disproportionate number of autistic kids were transitioning of a gender therapist,I’ve been told that I can’t ask that question. Seriously. I can’t think of another medical domain where this would happen. It’s profoundly unethical.
Me too. I'm a fifty year old Aspergian and most of these stories sounds so familiar in their description of the feelings that first set them up on this path to be 'affirmed' by wildly speculating so called professionals.

I had a brain tumor that ended up growing around my ocular artery causing me to nearly go blind in my left eye. My yearly MRI's were put on hold because of the hell of 2020-2022 years. I just had it removed 6 months ago because of the backlog from those years...... yet, they allowed this surgery to happen. It is beyond backwards.

My stepdaughter had a breast reduction because her breasts were so large they were giving her back issues. Her insurance would not cover it. She had to pay 9k to have her breasts reduced to a C cup. Her insurance does however, cover gender transition. So if she wanted her breasts completely removed, they would've covered it. We are living in 🤡 world!

As an aside it is frustrating to me to hear that 18 year old girls are getting testosterone after a single phone consult. As a born natural man who needs testosterone to be healthy, I had to go through months of labs and appts and hoops to get medicine I needed (testosterone) for low T. First they even made me (again I am and always have been male and have never questioned that for even a moment) take a medicine that elderly women take first. It gave me hot flashes and sensitive nipples. After that and a half dozen lab tests I finally did get it. But how are they getting it so easily?
I'm 70. I never felt comfortable with my body growing up or with the girlie-girl things. I was a tomboy. I enjoyed sports. I'm so glad I wasn't exposed to the mass media as it is today. I started having fun as a woman in my late 20s when I was buying clothes, working, and building my confidence. Maturing into one's body takes time. The rush to make such a drastic change to one's body that will carry a lifetime effect on a person seems criminal to me. I'm thankful that Katie and Chloe are speaking up about this. It seems the focus in today's world is to feel good by getting a rush or high, which is usually just a temporary fix. I wish you both a good and happy life.
After watching numerous detransitioning videos it appears to me that the medical community: 1) is fearful of being called transphobic and 2) these young people to the medical and pharmacy industry are cash cows; clients for life. So truly sad.

In 1995 I almost died during my pregnancy. Doctors couldn't promise that it wouldn't happen again. I wanted to have my tubes tied, but they wouldn't clear me for surgery due to being so young. It amazes me how they would allow such young children to be completely mutilated.

That's actually STILL the case. It's quite hard for a young childless woman to get their tubes tied. Doctors just won't do it. "Oh you'll change your mind about not having kids one day." Shit like that. But if that some woman said, "Remove my uterus and mangle my genitalia into a freakish penis-like mass." (Which would render them unable to have children of course.) They wouldn't even be questioned and the doctors would be happy to do it. Things are just getting INSANE.
(Although I'm surprised they gave you so much trouble if you already had a kid and you almost died having one...)
This is something I've been thinking about alot. They'll make you go through hell if you want to get your tubes tied because you don't want kids for example, but if your trans all of this is a no brainer. I'm so confused
I'm a mental health professional. I have worked with people who have eating disorders, schizophrenia, and severe depression just to name a few. In eating disorders, it is common for them to believe they are overweight when they weigh around 100 pounds or less. If an eating disorder went seeking a weight loss surgery because they believe they are fat, would a doctor do it? In one client with schizophrenia, he was absolutely convinced that he had a machine in his head and he traveled all over the state looking for a surgeon to remove the device from his brain because well, if you believe you have a device in your brain then obviously, you have a device in your brain, right? Needless to say, he never found a surgeon willing to do it. Severe depression, they believe they are worthless and unlovable. Should I affirm them because of their beliefs that they are worthless?
Excellent work Katie and Chloe. My hearts aches for those who truly feel uncomfortable in their bodies but surgery is not the answer. Also, I worry my career is at stake for speaking out against transitioning.

Many years ago, before transitioning was such a thing, I saw a programme about the mental health problems of people who hated one of their limbs “this arm isn’t mine! I want it removed!” Of course, no surgeon even considered it for a moment.
In Belgium, if you are severely depressed and believe you are worthless they will allow you to euthanize yourself, so yes, m sure with American health care it will one day get to that point over here too 🙃

I am recovering from a myomectomy right now due to fibroids. An acquaintance of mine just had a double mastectomy due to breast cancer. These are very serious surgeries with real possible complications and life long ramifications. It’s wild that they are being done on healthy young people.
Exactly. I had uterine cancer and that is why I had to have the hysterectomy. Doctors used to refuse to do that to young women who had not had children yet.

I'm 73. I was a tomboy. I loved playing with my dog, riding my bike, playing baseball with my grandpa and catching bugs. I was a science nerd - still am. I'd rather read and watch thrillers than rom-coms and I still do. But I'm a woman and I am so happy to have grown up back when people were sensible.

Loved sports, Lionel trains and Matchbox cars. I didn’t want to follow the traditional gender stereotypes. I was lucky. My parents let me be myself. Transitioning with hormones and surgery is madness.

My sister (80) and myself (77) were talking about this nonsense that’s going on today. We were both tomboys and wished we were boys. But back then boys had so much more freedom than girls and we wanted that freedom and to have adventures too! I read boys books and adult books, I certainly wasn’t a girly girl. As we grew up we realised that we didn’t really want to be boys but we worked to get the important things for girls and women - equal pay for equal work, equal opportunities, sexual freedom (up to a point), the ability to travel the world without a man at your side (unless you wanted him there). We, and our sisters of the world, achieved that and so much more but there are still barriers to overcome. So I look at young people like this young woman and my heart bleeds for her. She will never know the joy of carrying a child to term and holding her baby in her arms. And before any of you Trans people start shouting about the fact that not all women can have babies - this young woman probably would have been able to like the majority of women. You and your sick and twisted ideology have taken that away from her! And, let’s get one thing straight, I am NOT a CIS person, an ovary bearing person or any of those other demeaning terms you wish to use about me and my sisters. WE ARE WOMEN! A mature female with NO DANGLY PARTS!

These girls would not know the words trans, cis, body mismorphia, gender fluid, etc.if not for SM. I have a 15 yr old granddaughter going through - talk about "getting her boobs cut off." Many of the kids in her school seem to be the same way. My granddaughter is very curvy. Tiny waist, hips and quite developed. Nothing she can do will make her look like a boy. But it is the psychological damage I fear the most.

I was a tomboy too, and I used to tell my parents I "should" have been born a boy.
"Well, you NOT" wasn't the answer I wanted to hear, but it's the truth. But if I would've been born a few years later, society would've "diagnosed" me as a trans boy.
As an adult, the vast majority of my coworkers have always been male, and my work clothes have always been Carhartts, a hard hat, and steel toe boots. But I can still enjoy being feminine, like at the family reunion where my profile pic was taken (my Facebook profile pic, in contrast, is my hard hat, lol).
It's scary what's being done to kids now, and I'm so grateful for courageous women like these, who are speaking out about the dangers.

Robot was my favourite toy, not Barbie, and Mutant Ninja Turtles was my favourite cartoon. So what? I actually thought every girl was a tomboy because I had no image of girls my age doing tea parties - many played football with boys. So what? Being tomboy means nothing, absolutely nothing. Perfectly natural. If anyone asks me as a child if I want to be a boy - I would have answered: "of course, who wouldn't?" It would have sounded cool to me because my brother was cool. I grew up to become a 100% heterosexual woman who loves girly things, too. What's being a tomboy in childhood got to do with anything? In fact, wearing shorts, T-Shirt and jeans as a girl child is very practical and comfortable, and what girl child won't want to play a football for fun once in a while. What a joke.

Agreed. I was somewhat of a tomboy as well. All of the our neighborhood kids, boys AND girls, played baseball/softball, street & ice hockey, etc. It was a normal part of life. I totally agree. My daughter is a long-boarder, isn't "girly-girly" as she says, her best friends are guys. She's even one of the first female boy scouts in an all female troop. She's an Eagle Scout who has camped when it was 23 degrees and hiked when it was over 100. Her straight black hair is below her waist. At 18, she's never cared about make-up, but she is all girl all the time. I'm saddened to see that this young woman thought she fit into the "lesbian-category" because she was into sports. The horror of the mutilations she was encouraged to do is heart-breaking. These women have lost so much that they will never be able to get back that I think we as a society should start pressing for criminal charges against physicians who do this.

When I was 27 (29 years ago) I was told in no uncertain terms that I was too young to have my tubes tied. Afterall, I only had 1 kid. When I was 30, I had to "convince" the doctor that my husband would not want more kids, in order to receive a tubal ligation. I can not even wrap my mind around how flippantly these surgeries are being done.
Oh come on, you know exactly why they say you're too young ... they want to make sure you really don't want to pop a few more out. If they deny a woman in her twenties the surgery because of the risks, that means she has more chances of conforming to society as a mother of 1-4 children. It's fine if you don't believe in getting tubes tied but then don't deny people abortion healthcare either. They want it all.

I’m a woman. I usually wear men’s clothes because they are warmer, they have more pockets, and they are easier to wash.
But I am very heterosexual and certainly have never had any dysphoria.

It made me so unconfortable when people would sexualize me when I was 11-13. I am black and so I developed early. It's gross.
I was too busy being a tomb boy spending time outdoors and on horseback. No time or interest in boys at that age but still, I am a happily married mom now.
I was still playing with dolls at 13. I got into horses, drill team and tennis. My parents kept my sister and distracted with activity, chores, school and I got a work permit at 15 to work part-time at a steak house. I had a hand full of friends and acquaintances we went canoeing, camping and we fished with my brothers, Then at 16 my body bloomed, breasts, curves, and I was tall. I was by 18, looking 21 and could go to discos to dance. That’s when the “men” vs high school boys were much more aggressive in pursuing girls, all those guys wanted was sex. What a turn off. Didn’t help being called Prudence Pig, Prude, frigid, etc. I matured physically fast, but still a girl. Other girls were on the pill. I was terrified of guys.
I am 63. When I was a girl, I was an absolute tomboy. I had no interest in dolls, played football with the boys, climbed trees, and looked for frogs in the creek. I liked the freedom that boys had and claimed it as my own. I often said I wished I was a boy. My mother tried to shame me into wearing dresses but I didn’t care and only complied when we had to go to church each Sunday. thank God I wasn’t born during these times because I probably would have wanted to “transition“. It wasn’t until I was in college that I settled in to being comfortable and thankful to be a woman. I raised a wonderful daughter of my own who happens to have always been very feminine and loved dolls, dress up , makeup and her “girly girl“ things. She still loves her make up and matching outfits and has a corporate job where everyone appreciates her style and pulled together appearance. I am still a tomboy, I just purchased my dream farm and love getting dirty in the mud, milking goats and working my land in my overalls. To each her own!

The worrying thing is even a short time ago this was happening. A lot of people (myself included) are talking about growing up as "tomboys" and it was largely just shrugged off and not something that had to be "fixed". I am almost 40. It takes years to feel confident in our bodies. Maternity helps A LOT. We see how wonderful our bodies can be and experience unconditional love. We start seeing ourselves how our children see us. To them we are beautiful no matter what. Cross culturally women experience discomfort and ackwardness in our adolescence. It gets better with time as we mature. Young girls need to hear this more often... it is normal to feel that way... and eventually you'll get over it. Womanhood is not a feeling , it is a physical reality we all experience. Wearing pants and liking sports does not make you a man. I never thought in this era we would have such regressive and stereotipycal thinking.

The only thing that helped my body dysmorphia was pregnancy and giving birth! It actually breaks my heart thinking about the way I used to see my body.. but after a very smooth pregnancy, a fast and easy labour and recovery and the fact that I bounced right back after pregnancy, made me love and admire my body for what it is capable of, and I feel terrible for not being proud of it during its whole development..
I honestly don't know a single woman who wasn't uncomfortable with her body at some stage during puberty - telling these girls that what they're actually experiencing is "gender dysphoria" is criminal.

@@loosilu that was me. it was hard to accept that I am an incubator, and a dairy farm. then i had this idea to free women from this burden. I started to research artificial wombs, how to invent one. And what I learned - it is very complicated and also not safe for babies and just no way it could be affordable. And then I thought: "My body is an incubator and a dairy farm. This is so amazing!" in a way female bodies do not completely belong to them, they have parts to connect to other people, they have parts to form and grow new people. we are not lonely, we are part of the society, we are important.

It just seems to me that our society is incredibly lost. We are all chasing 'euphoria', when in reality, most of life is just plodding along. It is called social contagion and social media can certainly make it travel intensely and quickly. People have been influenced for centuries. Females are generally more likely to be influenced due to hormones and emotions/being more agreeable.

I'm always baffled by the stories where people say they thought they were a transgender person because they didn't fit the common stereotypes. When I was a kid it was perfectly normal that there were girly boys and boyish girls. And majority of kids were in fact neutral. There was nothing striking in their outward expression that would suggest they are feminine or masculine. I wonder if it's a cultural thing but as someone growing up in Central Europe, I don't feel that gender was emphasized as much as it appears in stories of these people coming from the USA or Canada. One can't put gender on interests. One can't say that a boy who likes to play with dolls or paint his nails is a girl or a girl that is only interested in sports is a boy. That's insane. I believe that society should rather stop catering to stupid stereotypes and create healthy role models for kids who deviate from "the norm" instead of suggesting them hormonal therapy and SRS.
Tell me what kind of world is this if universal health care insurance in some countries can cover the treatment for transgender people but refuses to cover birth control pills for biological women who have hormonal issues that severely reduce quality of their life? How come anyone isn't questioning why it's still so hard for many girls to get proper information on how to fight hormonal imbalances, PMS and abnormal periods? I find it absurd how I hear from everywhere how fragile and sensitive hormonal systems are and how hard it is to figure out what's wrong, yet when it comes to transition they don't seem to think twice about how will individuals respond to hormones of the opposite sex.

Thank you for speaking out. I remember telling my father at age 13 that i didn't want to be a girl or a boy. I just wanted to be a human. I was a late bloomer when it came to dating but im soon celebrating 47 years of marriage and grateful for my life and my family. I found more satisfaction in being a mom than any other part of my life. I am educated and had a career but my children are still my greatest joy.
I couldn’t get my tubes tied after my third child. My doc refused. Later I was glad as I went to have two more babies. And this doc took all her reproductive system out just like that! That’s evil! Is pure evil! God help us! Thank you for your courage and speaking out. We have to stop this madness!

I wanted to have my tubes tied at 19. Every doctor refused on the grounds that I was too young to know I didn't want kids. I finally got my tubes tied at 29 after psychological assessment to rule out I made that decision based on traumatic experiences. I'm very happy that I finally got the surgery. The point is it took 10 years for them to be sure I wouldn't regret it but they don't hesitate to remove whole reproductive systems and breasts from 18 year olds if they think they should have been born a different sex. Mind blowing.

Hi Chloe. I am a 25 yr old female. Growing up, I was similar to your guest speaker. I was very much so a tom boy. I even thought I was lesbian at one point simply because of how I carried myself and how different I was from other girls. Thankfully, when I was a teen, transgenderism was fairly taboo. I understand now that I would’ve easily fallen into this trap if somebody allowed me to. I was a depressed kid. Many bad childhood experiences. And have Asperger’s syndrome. I am much happier now. I have an incredible relationship, great job, and thankfully… my health. We need to protect our fellow girls who may not be completely gender conforming. I love you all. Keep up the good work. This woman would have been saved this trauma if people had just replied …well you are a girl, like it or lump it. A young girl at my daughters school was acting the same for years, she was a tomboy, wore the boys school uniform etc. She’s now living happily as a gay woman. This was thirty years ago, so before the trend luckily for her.
The first time I saw you smile was when you talked about your pastor and using your birth name. It sounds like you began fighting back to the dysphoria all on your own at first. Your own personal warrior arose within you. What an inspiration you are! Great interview really.

An interview between two intelligent, experienced, informed people on any topic is rare. I'm not a transitionist, I was a tomboy who grew up to be a dyke in a dress. I've been mistaken for a man all my life, being tall and skinny, never had a need for a bra, I cut my hair short and a lot of people when they find out I'm a woman offer to beat me up. At 66 I need this like I need a hole in the head. Whatever it is of me, one of the greatest joys of my life is having loved a man and a woman. I can say: gender is real, whichever it is. I knew a woman who told me she didn't know what male privilege was until she didn't have it anymore, and a man who, and Katie Anderson touched on this, was frightened by the aggression he developed with testosterone. As a girly girl, I HATED puberty. It was mortifying, and I wasn't ready. I just wanted to stay as I was before thirteen. Periods and boobs disrupted my whole life and the way people looked at me, so I would have done anything to put it on pause. Thank goodness that option was not available then.
Same as me. But I'm 38 and I still know that I'm not a woman. I wasn't given any chances to avoid suffering in wrong body

Katie is one impressive person. Her final words were so perfect. Shame is a powerful emotion but such an amazing individual to go through such trauma, come out the other side, and then not look for sympathy but rather express the regret for the pain and suffering that she feels hers actions caused onto others. That is character of the hightest level!
My grandchild is working towards F2M transition and I have fears that he will regret that in the future as his story started the same as Katie's. While I have no intention of quashing his plans, I'd suggest he view and really pay attention to Katie. TY both so much for your honesty in this interview.
In my opinion NO young person should be allowed to transition. They can make their decision when legally adults.
The first issue is the affirmation from family especially parental figures. Shame is indeed useful and I speak with first hand insight.
Katie herself explained that being affirmed by people in her life helped embolden her and keep her on the wrong track. Stepping in and being real can be the most loving thing to do when someone is heading down a dark path.
Referring to her as a “he” is not going to encourage detransitioning in my view.

First of all stop looking online to find your identity. Your body parts are all you need to confirm who you are. Who doesn’t feel awkward at puberty!!! Good grief people!! It’s all good you’ve come out of that confusion, but what a price to pay. I was a tomboy, I wore my brothers clothes, I hated the changes, but never in my life did I consider lopping off body parts, believing I’m not who I was born to be. What a messed up world we live in. 😢

I really think social media is a big motivator for young people to change their gender. They tell you that you are probably someone else than who you are. My wife was a tomboy. She wasn’t always comfortable with her femininity, and as a tall girl, and later a very tall woman it was even tougher. She wore boys clothes quite often. Her mom was a single parent who worked nights, so she didn’t have a lot of help with feminine things like makeup, hair, clothing etc. She eventually ended up becoming friends with women who helped her with all that stuff.
I can only imagine how many tomboys will never get that sort of a chance to blossom into the beautiful, amazing women that they could have been, after falling into the gender cult and being exploited by all the insane teachers, clinicians and social workers who’ve also been captured by it.
What if someone don't want "make up, hair and dress"? You behave like it is something essential in life. I am 26 years old women and I hate all of this stereotypical female stuff. It is for me pure vanity and conumptionism. I like my natural face, hair and body. We need to develop in more important things as humans.

You aren’t trans. You were a “Tomboy”. Big difference. The majority of trans people wish that they had been able to be themselves as kids. 99% of trans people do not regret their transition. While I’m sorry that Chloe’s experience was bad, she represents 1% of trans people. While she blames doctors, it’s her parents that are to blame.

That was back when there was rigorous gatekeeping regarding making these cosmetic changes. Since then, cross-sex identity activists have "successfully" demanded that almost all the gatekeeping be removed. As a result, the main cohort is very different - adolescent or teen girls - who don't receive the safeguarding that the 2003 generation did. That is one of the key reasons attributed to why regret and/or detransition is far more common nowadays. S E GM do t o r g says the regret or detrans rate may be as high as 30% today

I want to thank you for sharing your story. Mine is In 1982 I wore women's tops and carried a purse in my junior year in high school (i was just trying to figure me out). Today I'm a happy married gay man with a wonderful husband. Today they would have most likely encouraged me to transition to female and totally mess me up. Our current environment scares the hell out of me and I worry about the younger generation. DO NOT LET THEM SILENCE YOU!

Not surprised when she said that doctors thought she was high functioning autistic. I’m also on the spectrum, and could of totally seen myself going down this road if I’d been born 20 years later. So glad I didn’t. This needs to be looked into further.
There have been studies that kids on the spectrum have a higher amount of gender dysmorphia.
It's been looked into. A lot of children and teenagers presenting in gender clinics are on the spectrum. And others are gay.
Autistic and gay children are being sterilised and mutilated in the name of gender ideology, and it breaks my heart.
ND too and me too…and so many other people in our tribe. Given that we’ve known for years that ND folk are more likely to be GNC, this isn’t wholly surprising - although we seemed to do ok without transitioning in the past.
About 30% of kids transitioning are thought be autistic, but when, as a psychologist, I’ve asked why a disproportionate number of autistic kids were transitioning of a gender therapist,I’ve been told that I can’t ask that question.
Seriously. I can’t think of another medical domain where this would happen. It’s profoundly unethical.

I had a brain tumor that ended up growing around my ocular artery causing me to nearly go blind in my left eye. My yearly MRI's were put on hold because of the hell of 2020-2022 years. I just had it removed 6 months ago because of the backlog from those years...... yet, they allowed this surgery to happen. It is beyond backwards.
