2024 Ford Everest Wildtrak review (V6 4x4 - 4WD seven-seater off-road test)

  • Ford has applied the Wildtrak treatment to the Ranger-based Everest SUV for the first time.
    This V6-powered 4WD seven-seater has all the styling elements we have come to expect from the Ranger Wildtrak, and that means a revamped interior finish and new design for the outside of the car.
    It gets the same top-spec 184kW/600Nm turbo diesel with 10-speed auto and 4x4, so I tested it on-road and off-road for this detailed review of the big 7 seater.
    Is it better than an Isuzu MU-X? Should you buy it over one of the other Everest models? Or should you wait for the new Toyota Prado?
    You'll find out by watching this review. Oh, and it's also called Endeavour in other markets.

    I picked up my Everest Trend with touring pack, upgraded seats and all terrain tyres in April. So far it’s been 17 thousand trouble free kms. I did road test the v6 but decided the bi-turbo was enough for everything I will throw at the car…including towing a 2.5 tonne caravan. Biggest trip so far has been out to Orange, Oberon, Dubbo, Tamworth, Newcastle and home to the ACT. We also did the great Ocean road recently where it handled the twisty roads better than I expected. I’ve even done a a few days of 4 wheel driving in the Brindabella national park. No buyers remorse from me!

    Bought my Everst back in 2017. I know have over 150k on the OD. It's taken the family with a caravan in tow all over Australia. It just keeps on ticking. The only changes have been the wheels to 16in rims with nice big meaty KO2's. The only thing I'd replace this with would be the new Bronco when it arrives :)

      @@robfowler3824 awesome mate, thanks for the update. I got a call from theh dealer that my requested 18" AT is not available, and someone has cancelled 20" Wildtrack edition - they are offering it to me. I am not sure to take it or wait for my model - the downside is - I am not sure if I will be allocated or not in future ? what do you reckon ? I am confused. I requested 18 and they said Ford has already built it, they cannot change.

    Nice review Matt, I have been on that same tack with my (former) Escape ST-Line which has AWD and 19" alloys with P235/45/ M+S tyres, yes it was a big rough but got to where you ended the review.
    As for the Wildtrack Everest, nice, buy the Sport with the bi-turbo to save and then upgrade with the tyre package, that said I cant afford it :( Ford have nothing I need i their range right now.
    Might take the X-Trail through that same track to test it out.

    Why is it that the Everest gets more interior tech than the Ranger? The cooled seats with 3 memory buttons can't even be optioned in Wildtrak Ranger, and they'd make life a lot easier and more comfortable.

    The only thing that worries me about the Ranger / Everest V6 diesel is that is based on the old Ford Territory V6 2.7l diesel. And the Territory diesel was shared with a variety of Jags, Land Rovers, Range Rovers and Citroens 😱and the reliability of this engine was average at best. So yep not filling me with a lot of confidence. Anyway, time will tell how this engine fares over the long term. Can only hope Ford have learnt from the mistakes of the past and improved the reliability on the current 3L V6 diesel.

    • @therightcar
      @therightcar  7 месяцев назад +1

    Sadly, this review is almost pointless, considering that Ford only released enough of these vehicles for one per dealership in the entire country, and they were all pre-sold, so you can’t get your hands on a new one. You might be lucky if someone sells theirs as a secondhand one in a few years.
