He's still a work in progress, he's very young and full of energy and his competitiveness got the best of him a couple times, but it's good to know he's working on it because it will ensure his domination for years to come.

Around 8.29 million people practice mediation in the UK. The mental/ psychology side of things will increase during this decade, just like working out and running seems to have exploded, (covid restrictions definitely factor in the increase).

Everyone always focuses on the physical pary for sports like being fit, even though that part is very very important the mental side of it is just as important. If you have a bad mental state while playing sports you will fail a good example of this is dele alli. Great video

Hi Sam, in 10+ years of working with elite athletes, as you’d expect, I’ve encountered many sport psychs. As with anything, there are some better than others. ‘Range’ of experience is normally what separates them. Similarly, athletes who can afford psychs with that range are a significant minority. Most athletes don’t have that luxury, therefore the psychs they encounter are themselves sometimes “cognitively entrenched” by existent theory. So it’s akin to that vicious circle when they leave university, knowledge v experience. It’s the latter which will separate them from their peers.
Indeed most modern professional sports coaches have a very good grasp of the key psych principles. Therefore the ‘gap’ previously filled by sport psychs is narrowing.
So I have one piece of advice, if seeking to engage a psych, look for one with a range of experience and preferably, not just within sport.
Thanks for offering your take Jeffrey - spot on as ever. Really interesting you mention "range" in terms of experience. I think that's something often overlooked where sometimes athletes want the 'go-to' guy or girl who works with athletes in (insert whatever sport). The problem is, you can often just get someone who confirms your existing biases / tells you what you 'want' to hear rather than 'need' to hear. Great book in/around this space is "Rebel Ideas" by Matthew Syed in case you've not read it.

Alcaraz's a godzilla grunting doper . His physical transformation is super sus in 2021. No 19 year old played 3 five setters in a row and played the final looking that fit at that age .
