I have always LOVED this song! Sheena has serious vocal chops. She's a tiny powerhouse, and like ONJ, she started off as a fresh faced girl next door, and by the mid 80s she was a sexy siren. Prince loved her, and they collaborated on U Got The Look, and he wrote Sugar Walls for her. Watch some of her interviews. She is Scottish, and absolutely charming with her Scottish brogue. She lives just outside of Vegas, and unlike ONJ, she has almost completely lost her accent. She is very worthy of a deep dive into her catalogue :)
Oh wow! I never thought about as this my first time seeing her, but still I wouldn't have guessed she's Scottish😂interesting that her and ONJ had similar transformations. Her voice is pretty 🔥 i think i just might listen to more.
Yaaaaas! Now we loved this song in the hood and that song she made with Prince. Now come to think of it Sheena had some other good song Jimmy Mack and Do It For Love. She was cool!
I think Sheena Easton is so underrated. I'm glad you have finally discovered her. She has so many great songs, Empress! One of my favorites is a ballad called "I Wouldn't Beg for Water."
Finally!!! Lol Talk about underrated.. there’s oodles of songs from her and this was one of her biggest... next check out Sugar Walls.. written by Prince
Love Sheena Easton,.. check out her LaReid/babyface single The lover in me. It has the most handsome pool player in the world in the video. At least I used to think so when I was a 16 year old closeted gay boy. Ha ha
Thanks for reacting to Miss Sheena!! Hardly anyone is doing reactions to her. She was one of the real popular acts back in the day. I love her! She had a string of hits too! Another cute video of hers is Telefone and Morning Train. One of my favorite ballads from her is Almost Over You.
Sheena Easton came in on THE MORNING TRAIN, Let us in her SUGAR WALLS then she got with Prince and really blew up. Duets with Prince & Kenny Rodgers. A couple of ballads ALMOST OVER YOU & FOR YOUR EYES ONLY. Empress I call her ONJ jr.
Hey, Empress! Thank you for reacting to Sheena Easton. There aren't a lot of reactions to her music, which is a shame. She's one of my favorite artists and she had quite a string of hits back in the 80s. Like Olivia Newton-John (whom I know is your favorite artist #3), she started her career with a good girl goody two shoes image and then she transformed herself into a sexier image and sexier music, like Strut. Also, she's quite funny in interviews. She's one of those people that even pokes fun at herself. There's a lot to react from her: Morning Train (her only #1 U.S. hit), Modern Girl, For Your Eyes Only, You Could Have Been with Me, When He Shines, Just Another Broken Heart, Machinery, I Wouldn't Beg for Water, Wind Beneath My Wings (yes, the same song Bette Midler turned into a smash hit in the late 80's), We've Got Tonight (her duet with Kenny Rogers), Telefone, Almost Over You, the much-talked about Sugar Walls, Do It for Love, So Far So Good (my personal #1 song from her and quite underrated), Eternity, U Got the Look (one of two duets with Prince), The Lover in Me, Days Like This, Follow My Rainbow, etc.
Wow another great reaction Empress...Haven't heard this jam for many many years. Awesome. Check out "We've got tonight" a duet with Kenny Rogers live version...her voice is Beautiful. 💯🔥
I bought four tickets to go see Sheena when this tour came out. They were front row, after the pit seats and two of my buddies, backed out last minute. So I'm the passenger, and my best friend who just got married a few weeks prior was driving. We weren't sure where the venue in Maryland was, so I told him, next light, we'll ask someone. Pull up to a beautiful women, a redhead and a blonde. They said follow us, and I asked them if they had tickets yet? They said no. We got to the parking area, they gave me money for the tickets, and I proceeded to drink two bottles of wine with them before the show. My friend was very nervous, and pissed at the same time. He didn't drink, had just gotten married, and told me why couldn't this happen to him, before he got married. I explained to him, that this was not happening to him. The show started in this open air venue, and even though the girls had their own seats, they took turns sitting in my lap, making out with me, and bouncing up and down in my lap. It was a beautiful and fun night. I would take each of the girls up separately, to spend some alone time with each of them, under the full moon, checking out the show from further up. It was definitely good to be alive as a young man. The show was very good. A week or two later I was going to where the blonde worked to ask her out on a real date. Well, I had just started working with a woman, who was friends with a woman I knew. I told her I was going to go over and ask her out. This new woman who I was not attracted to knew I had just bought a brand new motorcycle, and knew I needed to pick it up from the shop, but I didn't have anyone to help me drive my car back. She said to forget the other woman, and she would drive me to the dealership to pick up my bike. What a mistake! Became fatal attraction with her. I didn't do anything but be nice to her. One time she showed up with her friend at the race track, just before I was going to race one of my other bikes, and she bought me a pair of $800 racing leathers, which was a lot of money back then. Had the hardest time getting rid of this certifiable crazy-lady. I blame it all on Sheena Easton. ;-)
Strut was my favorite from her! Try blasting that song in your headphone up loud while walking up and down the street in nyc. You can’t help but feel like strutting down the street like a supermodel 🤣
Sheena had 10 years of hits in the 80s to early 90's. Morning Train, Modern GIrl, For Your Eyes Only, We've Got Tonight, Telefone, Almost Over You, You Could've Been With Me, When He Shines, Strut, Sugar Walls, Do it for Love, U Got the Look, The Lover in Me, What Comes Naturally. Lot of good songs.
@@EmpressReacts Another ONJ parallel : As with Olivia's first single 'If Not For You', and Sheena's 'Morning Train', neither of them were rather fond of their song.
Fierce is the perfect description for Sheena! “A Private Heaven” album sizzles with this track and “Sugar Walls!” She is at her hottest with the title track to her 1989 album “The Lover In Me!” Looking forward to your reaction to it💕
@@EmpressReacts I did not catch you making a mistake. It's just that; about 9 of 10 non-Latino people, mistakenly call Congas, Bongos. These, however, happen to be Bongos.
The album this came from - "A Private Heaven" was her turning point that mirrored Olivia's Physical album, they were both previously thought of as very much the girls next door, the next single from this album is "Sugar Walls" written by Prince: ruclips.net/video/CqH7LlWwIww/видео.html - This is a rather naughty song, like Physical, with it's double entendres. I saw Sheena live twice here in Australia a couple of years ago, and like ONJ, she still has an amazing voice, we met her after her show and she was so lovely and posed for photos with my partner and I - She has a WICKED sense of humour. Your voice is amazing too, you have a great knack of picking up a tune easily. xo
Sheena Easton was the shiznits for a few years. She had about seven huge hits. You should check out the song "Sugar Walls" which was written by Prince. Very controversial and seem to be the beginning of the end of her career
@@EmpressReacts On the contrary Empress, "Sugar Walls" and the evolution toward a sexier, more aggressive sound and image signaled the beginning of a very successful second half of the 8Os for Ms. Easton. In the early 80s Sheena was considered somewhat of an adult contemporary artist who was known largely for ballads. In part, because of her association with Prince, she was able to shed the good girl image who used to sing duets with Kermit the Frog on Bob Hope Christmas specials and became one of pop music's biggest sex symbols. She was kind of the Scottish ONJ. And like ONJ is VERY underrated as a gifted vocalist IMO. I think a few of the reasons she never reached megastar status is because for a while she would have a string of hits and then for a couple of years she wouldn't chart. Also , despite her gorgeous looks she never really had any great music videos until fairly late in her career with "The Lover in Me and "What Comes Naturally"', which are FIRE!
👑 Hello Empress, from your fanboy in Texas! Was great to see you reacting to this song. Sheena Easton was and is still a great performer. You wouldn’t know it from any of her songs, but she was born and raised in Scotland and has a pretty strong accent when she’s just speaking. She holds dual citizenship so she’s both American and Scottish. Can you even believe that this banger came out 36 years ago! She has recorded 16 studio albums, released 45 singles total worldwide, and had 20 consecutive US singles, including 15 US Top 40 singles, 7 US Top tens and one US No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 between 1981 and 1991. She also had 25 top 40 hits in international territories around the world. She has sold over 20 million records and albums worldwide. Easton became the first recording artist in history to have a Top 5 hit on each of Billboard's primary singles charts, with "Morning Train (Nine to Five)" (both pop and adult contemporary charts), "We've Got Tonight" with Kenny Rogers (country chart) and "Sugar Walls" (both R&B and dance charts). Back in the day, on a trip with my best friend to NYC, we caught a brief glimpse of her driving through the village in a limo. We tried to holler at her but it was moving too fast ha! You described Sheena and the video as Fierce, which they absolutely are! Whenever I hear the word Fierce, I immediately think of my favorite Fierce song/video, “Free Your Mind” from the girl group En Vogue. The song is Fierce, the ladies are Fierce and the video is Fierce and is also way before it’s time! Also, after you watch it, you won’t be able to believe that it was done 28 years ago! Steve mentioned that Sheena had top 5 hits on each of Billboard's primary singles charts. I'd also like to add that Sheena won a Grammy in 1984 for her duet with Latin pop sensation Luis Miguel. The song was "Me Gustas Tal Como Eres," and Sheena sings in Spanish. The woman is definitely diverse!
Grammy award winning artist, such a great talent. Amazing singer with range. Always so sexy, that face...gorgeous. I love her with Prince.."You Got The Look" one of my favorites!!!
When are we getting the SUGAR WALLS reaction! I just know you are going to love this one!. Sheena has some pipes too. Need to check her ballads out as well!
Sheena, beautiful woman. she had an amazing voice (She still performs) she had a ton of hits in the 80's. her ballads really showcase her vocals. "Almost over you" was super nice
@@EmpressReacts Sheena Easton had many hits, but check out another track shed killed it on called The lover in me from if I remember correctly 87 or 88; it was tight.
You have no idea this was a turning point in her career. From here almost every song was sexually sensual and R&B bangers. She reached billboards top ten almost each time. Big hits. She’s still with us
This song was so popular in mid 80-s and Sheena Easton was discovering her sexiness (similar to ONJ after Grease). She was signed to promote health clubs and commercials ran for several years. Here is one of the first: ruclips.net/video/kqe0OAoezK4/видео.html
Yes, Sheena Easton was very big in the 1980s… Strut was a powerful song but… Sugar Walls was something totally different. Empress, I’ll let you listen to that song on your own……😉💖
This is my favorite Sheena song. Another off this album you should check out is Sugar Walls. Other songs worth listening to: U Got the Look (she's the featured vocalist on Prince's song), Telefone, or the ballad Almost Over You.
OMG, I remember ditching 4th period in high school to go to the record store to buy this Sheena Easton cassette tape that had just dropped😂I spent 5th & 6th period listening🎧😎Like Olivia Newton, Sheena Easton had a squeaky clean Pop image. Between mid to late 80s, ONJ cut her hair and had everyone getting "Physical" and Sheena Easton was talking about "Strut" and "Sugar Walls"😮🔥By the way, I still my Sheena Easton cassette and remnants of my Sony Walkman!!❤
Just taking a stroll through childhood with you. I was in the single digits when this song came out, so I can only say that my reaction to it was me making my own dance moves to it.
Ohh damn someone beats me to recommend her she was good and a looker! She has quite a bit of hits! Few stand outs is. Well this one. Strut! Morning train,,for your eyes only. And the beautiful ballad. Almost over you! it’s a Tear jerker!!! Sugar walls. I’ve always heard that’s a naughty song. Lol 😉😉🤭😁
@@EmpressReacts yes!! Wait till you hear it 😉😉😉😆. She came out kind of around the time like Pat Benatar may be late 70s early 80s,, she had some hits until I would say the early 90s then she kind of faded away😞. Like most do unfortunately.
Love Sheena but she had similar career aspects like Onj going from good girl to good girl gone bad. case in point check out morning train and the fantastic duet with Kenny Rogers We've got tonight then check out sugarwalls. All equally Great.
So, EVERYONE seems to be suggesting Sugar Walls.. Interesting tid-bit re: Sugar Walls.. You know those Parental Advisory stickers that we see on music now? Well, back in 1985, when Sugar Walls was released as a single )as the follow-up to Strut), it caused quite a reaction. Around the same time, the Parents Music Resource Center formed, and they came out with their 'Filthy Fifteen' list. Sugar Walls was #2 on the list. Eventually, those stickers began to appear on CD's etc. because of that group. So, talk about parallels with ONJ, that would be like her 'Physical' moment I suppose. As you know ONJ is my #1 fav forever, well, Sheena Easton is my #2. You'll have fun with her stuff. You'll notice that she changes her look dramatically, often! LOL
Does this song remind you of an ONJ type song? This is her semi sex kitten look. She was very good-girl image at the beginning of her career. Then Prince got her in his gang. Like I mentioned on an earlier post, she went full on sexiness with "The Lover In Me" produced by Babyface and L.A. Reid.
Empress - Haha, it would be ONJ reinvented. Sheena rode the tide with the shift in music direction when songs written and produced Babyface and LA Reid dominated music was huge.: Karyn White, Pebbles, TLC, Madonna, Whitney, Bobby Brown, Toni a very long list of artists from around mid 80s to mid 90s.
You must check out Prince’s “U Got the Look” featuring duet w/ Sheena Easton and Sheila E on drums! Great dance song ... those drums & guitar... Swag Power extravaganza! ruclips.net/video/_jCuroTbqBI/видео.html
There used to be so many strong women in music. Sheena Easton, Cher, Madonna, Joni MItchell, Aretha Franklin, Ella Fitzgerald, Chrissie Hynde, Pat Benatar, Marian Anderson, Debbie Harry, Joan Jett, Tina Turner...the list goes on and on. ...... And these days the music industry gives us Nicki Minaj, Lil Kim, Miley Cyrus...FML. There are still many admirable women in music (Beyonce, Rihanna, Sia, etc), but there are far too many skanks.
You got a ear on you, this is the jam ‼️
Thanks!
For your eyes only. Sheena Easton. I was in love with her eyes.

Sheena, beautiful woman. she had an amazing voice (She still performs) she had a ton of hits in the 80's. her ballads really showcase her vocals. "Almost over you" was super nice
oh that's cool! i'll add that song to the list.
I would have liked to hear ONJ SANG THIS SONG.
oooo she would have killed it and it wold have been even more sexier 💯
@@EmpressReacts Yes ONJ would have made it more sexier.
@@braxtonoertwig9191 💯💯
@@EmpressReacts Sheena Easton had many hits, but check out another track shed killed it on called The lover in me from if I remember correctly 87 or 88; it was tight.
I loved all her 80s hits. I don't remember the first time I heard this. Just heard it on the pop stations when it was a hit.
glad to know this song was a hit because its 🔥🔥
So funny how she went from "My Baby Takes the Morning Train" to this.
Don't forget "Telephone" Long Distance Love Affair.
oh so, this was risque for her?
@@EmpressReacts
I would say she "evolved".
It tended to happen to women who came under the influence of Prince.
You have no idea this was a turning point in her career. From here almost every song was sexually sensual and R&B bangers. She reached billboards top ten almost each time. Big hits. She’s still with us
Nice girl you must look on C.C. Catch and Sandra ... natural fire as our beloved Sheena.
I love this song!!! Thanks for playing it!! I think you’re the first person to play this tune. Been waiting for someone to play this song! 🙌👍❤️
No way! This song is too 🔥🔥🔥 not to be discovered by others
Sugar Walls (that's the song review request) Or the song she did for James Bond movie. 'For Your Eyes Only'😊
noted✅
This song was so popular in mid 80-s and Sheena Easton was discovering her sexiness (similar to ONJ after Grease). She was signed to promote health clubs and commercials ran for several years. Here is one of the first: ruclips.net/video/kqe0OAoezK4/видео.html
Love your review you're do right she had a lot of swag 😛 love to see some more of your reactions to her 101 or days like these would be good
😍😍thanx! i'm definitely thinking of adding her to the list💯
Yes, Sheena Easton was very big in the 1980s… Strut was a powerful song but… Sugar Walls was something totally different. Empress, I’ll let you listen to that song on your own……😉💖
everybody keeps mentioning this song...guess i'll add it to the list 😂
This is my favorite Sheena song. Another off this album you should check out is Sugar Walls. Other songs worth listening to: U Got the Look (she's the featured vocalist on Prince's song), Telefone, or the ballad Almost Over You.
cool! a collab with prince😍i'm down for a listen
😂so this song was a strong bop💯 had u skippin class and everything😂so cool you still own those items 😍 and this ONJ parallel is interesting
Just taking a stroll through childhood with you. I was in the single digits when this song came out, so I can only say that my reaction to it was me making my own dance moves to it.
😍aw cute! this song def makes u wanna dance
Next up, Laura Branigan - Self Control, Solitaire, Gloria
never heard of het, but will consider😍
Prince dated her. She originally was a country singer
Oh wow
Ohh damn someone beats me to recommend her she was good and a looker! She has quite a bit of hits! Few stand outs is. Well this one. Strut! Morning train,,for your eyes only. And the beautiful ballad. Almost over you! it’s a Tear jerker!!! Sugar walls. I’ve always heard that’s a naughty song. Lol 😉😉🤭😁
did you say naughty👀👀😂adding it to the list✅agree she def was servin looks in this video. interesting i've never heard of this woman😂
@@EmpressReacts yes!! Wait till you hear it 😉😉😉😆. She came out kind of around the time like Pat Benatar may be late 70s early 80s,, she had some hits until I would say the early 90s then she kind of faded away😞. Like most do unfortunately.
@@JoeyGarcia. dang, sounds so sad 🤣
@@EmpressReacts yup. Indeed🙂
Check out Kate Bush's Rubberband Girl...she's one of a kind, each song an experience, that's probably her tamest song haha
never heard of her, will add her to the list
Love Sheena but she had similar career aspects like Onj going from good girl to good girl gone bad. case in point check out morning train and the fantastic duet with Kenny Rogers We've got tonight then check out sugarwalls. All equally Great.
interesting! thanx for the recommendation. i'll consider listening to more😍
So, EVERYONE seems to be suggesting Sugar Walls.. LOL
Interesting! So THIS lady causing controversy!😂😂 would've never imagined. I def gotta hear this song👀👀
@@EmpressReacts It’s def not about a candy store! I think today the song is tame compared to what’s out there now.
@@michaeldubin8965 hmm interesting 🤔 👀
I love Sheena Easton, too; definitely looking forward to more reactions to her music by Empress!
1984
Sugar walls
this song had to be a smash hit...everyone keeps recommending it 😂
I love your review ❤you’re good.
Thank you so much!
Sheena is a killer, do not look in her eyes!
Reid.
now that you mention it i can totally see/hear ONJ singing this and sounding super sexy. interesting sounds like she later went full R&B.

😂😂dang i never thought about that...but um you're right💯
The song is a rejection of being a mere vessel of a man’s seed.
