She also appeared in the Highlander TV series in the "An Eye for an Eye" episode where she played an IRA resistance fighter. And yes, she was HOT and pulled off some pretty good acting. The series had episodes starring many singers. Including Roger Daltrey (multiple episodes), Joan Jett, Roland Gift, Vanity (Denise Matthews, another hottie and all around amazing woman! RIP), Dee Dee Bridgewater, Jim Byrnes (he was a regular on the show) and others. It was really cool to see popular singers cutting their acting teeth. And Roger Daltrey could have easily been an actor and played a perfect role as the comic relief old best friend. The series loosely followed the movies but in a lot of ways it was better.

Sheena did a story arc on Miami Vice around this time as Don Johnson's love interest. It was a Bodyguard type story, and as always she was adorable and charming. You should go back to the beginning of her musical journey with Morning Train, For Your Eyes Only, Modern Girl, Telefone, You Could Have Been With Me, and Almost Over You. You jumped straight to her raunchy Prince era (U Got The Look, her duet with Prince is a MUST!). Yes! The sweet Scottish lass who sang Morning Train did a full 180 once she met Prince, who seems to have had that effect on many of the women he collaborated with (except maybe Sinead O’Connor).
What kills me is that y’all young people don’t think we weren’t haven’t the same sexual conversations in our music in the 70s and 80s. I guess it was just not as overt as WAP cuz I’m sure mom and dad never figured out what Sugar Walls meant. I think most people reacted like you- they heard the lyrics a few times and then the light bulb 💡went off. And we were like “Whoa, Sheena Easton went there? Ok, dang girl you did that.” 💯

FYI, here’s the complete Filthy 15: Judas Priest, Motley Crue, Prince, Sheena Easton (Sugar Walls), W.A.S.P., Mercyful Fate, Vanity (Prince protege), Def Leppard, Twisted Sister, Madonna (Dress You Up), Cyndi Lauper (She Bop), AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Venom and Mary Jane Girls (In My House).
Looking back, it was a misstep for Tipper Gore to lend her name to the effort. She came off as preachy and it seemed like a faux clutch my pearls moment. She was ridiculed for it. And these artists only benefited with higher street cred and increased sales.

When I was Growing Up, I had no clue what "Sugar Walls" were. I was just Jamming and Enjoying the Tune. But it was Only when I got Older that I realized what Sugar Walls was and what the Song was talking about lol. That's how Music was Back Then. You'd be Singing a Song You had Knew anything about. @ Ron Leo I wouldn’t say Tipper Gore was an old lady then. Her concern came when she heard her 11 year old listening to Darling Nikki. I was 12 listening to that song. Honestly I didn’t really get it UNTIL it was on the news and they explained it. Then my mom told me not to listen anymore, but I did anyway. Being a parent now I can appreciate that you want to be given a warning that what your kids are listening to maybe inappropriate in some way. That being said Sugar Walls is suggestive but went over a lot of heads, especially kids. A lot of music was like that. Now it just slaps you in the face. You can’t watch an awards show or performance on TV now without so much of it being sensored.

Sheena was seen as such a sweet, almost innocent girl until this song and her work with Prince came along LOL! My first language is French and I learned English by watching all the great 80's sitcoms, so paying attention to the meaning of the lyrics was never my thing. Everything they played on the radio was jam after jam so I just got lost in the music and sang along to the hooks. This song obviously has Prince's fingerprints all over it, no wonder it's so raunchy.

So happy you got to this song. Sheena Easton was huge in the 80's. When the 90's rolled around, her priorities changed and she wanted a family. Can't blame her for being on the endless rollercoaster. First first US single went straight to #1 and then it just one after another from there.
This is definitely an artist you should take a very close look at. Yes, she had a few Prince colabs, but she is SO MUCH more than that. The wat she handles ballads will blow you away! 'Almost Over You', 'You Could Have Been with Me' and of course the theme to the James Bond film 'For Your Eyes Only' (she is only artist to be in the opening credits of a James Bond film by the way..). She won 2 Grammy's and one of them is for a, get ready for it, a Mexican-American Album
'Todo Me Recuerda A Ti'. She re-recorded a bunch of her hits up until then in Spanish! I really look forward to more of her songs popping up with your reactions.
