    Good practical video. That dock is luxurious compared to the usual spider and fly ridden polytunnels. Thanks John.

    John, your videos are an invaluable resource and leave me all green-eyed!! I've probably left it too late in the year to get my roof done but if I do it do you have any videos or advice that re. heavy pitting? Do you use a filler over them? Many thanks and nice work.

    Hi there John, great video! Having watched all your videos i'm feelin far more prepared for the looming paint job on Tyke. Hunting for a scabbler at the moment but cant find one with as many wheels as yours has (for the right price) - what make is your machine? Cheers!

    Hi John, is there any reason you wouldn't use a etch primer?

    I’d like to use vactan on my van roof, just wondered, can I use normal vehicle primer on top of Vactan ?
    Very informative video 👍

    Hi John - this is a great video! Going to attempt to repaint my boat this summer so your tutorials are massively appreciated. Quick question, having looked a bit more into scabblers, they seem like very effective machines for taking down to steel but also large and presumably heavy. You obviously focus on the roof in this video. Have you ever used a scabbler on the sides or would you only use it on flat surfaces such as the roof?

      hi Tommy - yes i use the scabbler for all the boat sides included

    How long did that take you? Is it possible to do that outside if you cover the top when the weather is poor?

      hi Kate about 2 weeks including stripping back and all the drying times,
      it can be done out doors but make sure if you cover your work so the damp does not get in if you feel that it may have done then get the air to it and do not paint until you are happy it has dried out

    Are there any long term tests of this Vactan stuff? Does it really stop rust spreading/appearing again??

    • @JohnbarnardBiz
      @JohnbarnardBiz  5 лет назад

      hi Steve the boat shown is still not showing any signs of rust so thats about three years, it is important to make sure that all the next coatings are the right thickness

      @@JohnbarnardBiz I'm thinking of using this stuff on a pickup truck actually, items like the axles, diff and suspension arms have surface rust. I'll be keeping this truck for many many years so trying to do what I can to preserve it.

    • @JohnbarnardBiz
      @JohnbarnardBiz  5 лет назад +1

      the vactan converts the rust and puts down a barrier but you still need to carry out good painting to keep the surface protected
