Im the complete opposite of mount mutombo I got barred from a dollar general for shopping and talking to the employees I never stole anything or did anything wrong to the store. but the employees had negative things to say about me and I didn't even try to be toxic towards them I was just looking for friends and a place to chill.

He gave generously, both his love and financial support, to his hometown, building schools, creating opportunities for young people to play basketball, and establishing hospitals in a region where 7.5 million live in poverty. It's heartbreaking that life is so uncertain and unfair-good people like him are taken too soon, often by illnesses like cancer. Cameroonian American here. Been a fan of the NBA for decades. And you gotta realize that although I LOVED (still do) the NBA, I could never really imagine that an African could play in the League. (Olajuwon of course being the exception). Then Dikembe came along. And jeez, he looked like us, sounded like us, jeez even acted like us. (For those who don't know, the finger wag is very well known in Africa. It of course means NO but it can also mean "I am warning you for the last time and then there are gonna be serious consequences"). Add to that the fact that Dikembe Mutombo was a really nice guy, beloved by everyone and you can begin to understand why we are so heartbroken today. I can't even watch the video above or I know I am going to start crying. (And I am not particularly sensitive). Man this really hurts......

As a teenager, I was walking down the streets of Kinshasa one day. Back then, Reebok had just released the white and black Shaq attack shoes. I saw a group of tall guys walking around and they were all wearing those... I would say about a dozen in total. I was blown away because those shoes were new and trendy! Then, I found out those guys played for the national basketball team. Mutombo personally gifted them those shoes and my friend knew the coach. Yes, he was bigger than life! Rest in peace

As far as I can remember, Mutombo was always working for Africa and especially his people. He was raising money, working with govts etc. etc. always. He's never been in trouble, he was never hated, he was never in headlines. He understood his platform was bigger than basketball and could be used to do some good. RIP Giant!

À travers son travail humanitaire, Dikembe a incarné ce que cela signifie réellement de redonner. En tant que premier athlète africain à construire un hôpital et une école dans son pays, il a ouvert la voie à l'espoir, à la santé et à l'éducation pour tant de personnes dans le besoin.
Il était un don qui n'a jamais cessé de donner-un symbole de fierté pour tous les Congolais. Son éthique de travail, son amour désintéressé et son esprit généreux nous ont profondément touchés et nous ont tous inspirés. Truly an incredible person. Many times people exaggerate when people pass, but this is the truth!
As far as I can remember, Mutombo was always working for Africa and especially his people. He was raising money, working with govts etc. etc. always. He's never been in trouble, he was never hated, he was never in headlines. He understood his platform was bigger than basketball and could be used to do some good. RIP Giant!
