    If it doesn't matter, why do they ask on the application? Plus, several videos on this channel focus on women owned buisness so it must be important to win contracts?

    Hi, I'm in the process of biding on four-difference city contracts, the thing is I've never bid on contracts before. The required clarification dates are coming up very soon. could you suggest some specific questions I should ask? Two bids are for specific products, the other two are for Lead in homes.

    • @FedAccess

      Many people ask, Is there an incumbent? For federal service employees, one would ask, are there service employees who will transfer over to the new contractor. I don't know whether your city contracts involve workers transferring over from the incumbent contractor.

    I am curious, is there a way to become self certified? As a wosm, mosb, etc? I’ve been approached by so many 3rd party companies that are offering certifications for upwards of $3,000. This is a lot of money for a
    business just starting out! What would recommend?
    Thanks 😊

    I saw an open bid in my city, they were asking for insurance and a few more things. Is this common practice? Insurance here is so expensive, it hard to keep it active

    • @FedAccess
      @FedAccess  2 года назад +1

      Yes, it is common for contracts to require that your business has insurance. Do they require that you have insurance on the day you submit your bid, or can the insurance go into effect once you are awarded the contract? You might want to discuss this with an insurance broker.

      I actually did a video on this topic, because it is a question that has come up before. Remember, the certification only helps you if the contract is set-aside for that certification. So take a look at contracts in your field, and see whether they are set aside for veterans or women. Also, remember that 8a is the best of the programs -- so think about whether you qualify for 8a

    I've been working hard and have begun a relationship with a prime contractor to collaborate on future work. Could you discuss how to move forward in that case? When to get the NDA? Once you get it, how do you progress to the subcontract? Do you still need to keep some things close until the Subcontract agreement?

    • @FedAccess
      @FedAccess  2 года назад

      There are many different ways to do this, depending on the contract, the work, etc. Are you teaming with the company on the bid (helping them prepare the proposal, providing your cost info for them to include in the proposal, etc) or do they already have the contract and you are seeking a subcontract from them? Do you have some proprietary technology that you are trying to protect? I have seen cases where the subcontractor provides proprietary info directly to the government (bypassing the prime) but this is unusual.

    hi, to bid, do we email the contracting officer with the required docs? I don't see a bid button

    • @FedAccess
      @FedAccess  Год назад +1

      The solicitation will spell out exactly how to submit the bid. Search the solicitation for the submission instructions. Often, they will ask you to email your submission, and they'll give you the email address to send it to.

    How do I become the "middle man" for other businesses?

    • @FedAccess
      @FedAccess  2 года назад

      I think you're referring to becoming a government contracting consultant. I've known many people who do well doing this. In every case, the people I know started off working for a company. That's how they learned the ropes, proved themselves, and built the relationships they needed. Can you get a job with a company that is a government contractor?

      @@FedAccess I have been doing research on this and from what I have seen there is a way for me to start a consulting business that gets a percent of the contracts that I get for other businesses? (I hope I said it right) Either way ... that's the role I'm looking to play. I do not want fulfill the entire contract, just assign it with minimal work on my part (which is still quite a bit from what I understand 😆).

      The consultants I know get paid by the hour, or get paid a daily rate. Getting paid a percentage of the contracts is .... problematic. For example, how exactly would that work? What if the company told you they made 0 profit on a job and so didn't want to pay you anything?

    Again I love the background that you have created in your videos!!! However, my question is, do contracting officers and specialists look at (PAST PERFORMANCE) as a key indicator? Also, as a side note, we took your advice and we have partnered with a prime contractor and we are bidding on an NSA/NGA contract.

    • @FedAccess
      @FedAccess  2 года назад

      That's great that you found a teaming partner for a bid! With respect to your past performance question, the evaluation criteria are spelled out in the solicitation. For each solicitation, the government follows the evaluation criteria written in that particular solicitation. In my experience, you usually have to submit past performance information as part of the proposal, but how important it is varies widely from solicitation to solicitation.
