I've had several hamsters in my childhood. And my first hamster, Hammy, was the just like the one in the video, and the only one like that. He was a long-haired teddy bear hamster.
They probably all would cuddle up to people. But everyone puts them in cages & forget about them. Bless You 😊.

Woth proper handling and attention, hamsters are amazingly affectionate pets
Frequent handling, affection, lots of enrichment and a varied diet that isn't just the dried food from stores and you end up with a perfect temperament. Also it's probably purely coincidental/my experience but getting male hamsters helps a lot. 3 of mine were boys and the only one that was bitey and harder to handle was the girl

I've noticed females are kore bitey over time. Males are more bitey when you first get them than girls but come round much much more quickly.
@damenwhelan3236 our girl we could never tame regardless of how much we did to calm her from day 1. (we tried everything we possibly could) we never once had any issues with our boys they were as sweet as can be from day 1. I really am not sure why girls are so high strung tbh

Weird, maybe it's the instinct to care for their young while being prey animals so they have to be on alert all the time? Don't know but it's certainly interesting.

Something I heard from a pet owner (influencer) once was "They may only be a part of your life, but you are their entire life." I'm sure your hamster absolutely loved you, too, maybe even more than you could possibly imagine. I'm sure that hamster of yours was one of the luckiest hamsters alive to have you be their world 💕

The sad thing with Hammies is they just don’t live very long and it’s always so heartbreaking when they go, because you do become very attached to their sweetness and softness and specialness

I agree. I had mine for about 2 years (she had some previous owners). She was as sweet as this one in the video. She was super loving and loved cuddles too. When she passed, it broke my heart. I still miss her 😢

She'll snuggle his cheek and go to sleep wrapped around him. When I hold her she's just deals for a few minutes then is ready to go back in her enclosure. But him? That's HER HUMAN. Her Pet.

I wish I knew his secret! My gerbils will climb on my hands at ground level, eat out of my hands, come up and sniff my face, but they won't let me pick them up at all, and if I move even slightly too fast or unexpectedly, they zoom away and do a round of their little danger thump. After a year and a half, I wish they would trust me more, but love them anyway, the silly li'l anxious pom-poms. ❤️

I had a Hamster who was so Calm like this Hamster, he would literally want to climb on the top of my head and Just curl up, hamsters are really good pets, also depending on their personalities, it’s a shame they don’t live very long, I bet my Hamster is in Heaven right know nomming on some Banana Chips, those were his fave :)
Your little hamster is definitely in heaven. I am not personally religious, but if anybody were to get to go to heaven it would be pets. They bring so much joy and love to all of us. I home he is able to eat all the banana chips he wants while curled up all day ❤️

We used to call it "animal heaven"
my theory is that rodents have thier own field of flowers, ground to dig in and they play with one another. Genji, Geralt, Raphti, unnamed boy belonging to good for nothing kid, and all loved hammies of the world, are gathered there to continue spiritual existance.
Lady never was taught "the lift", seemingly she learned it herself? Raphti is responsible for this move. mind you, i got Lady 6 months after his passing.

My hamster babe was just like this one. She Would come when called. Chilled watching films with my son when he was little and even liked to get in the sink for a wash. Sooooo stinking cute. I miss this ❤
Mine wasn't so chill, but she would come when you called her name. Handy when she went wandering in her hamster ball or escaped her cage. I only remember her escaping once and she made herself a little nest in the tumble dryer on the clean, dry clothes. I only knew because she made a little food stash there. Whenever she was out of her cage, she'd have the zoomies. Wouldn't sit still. Just wanting to explore the world.
Just like how I fell in absolute love with my guinea pigs. Rodents are overlooked, they have such huge personalities, and are beautiful animals inside and out! 🐹❤️
They’re so incredible. Very affectionate and aware and completely capable of bonding with a person. I’ve had so many and I’ve loved every single one.

I have experienced both sides. I've had really lovely hamsters that just adore being with their humans, and I had one who, in spite of being handled alot, and treated well, just f*cking hated me and wanted nothing to do with me. 😂 they're as individual as humans. ✌️🤷♀️

Yes my dwarf had 80cm long on 50cm wide /Alaska cage and for Syrians it's recomended they have 100cm on 50/60cm wide unfortunately most people and shops will buy/sell the smallest possible ones same with really dangerous cotton fluffy bedding and hamster balls which are absolutely harmful to them same goes with scisor effect wheels and them being to small which hurt their backs and can cause bumblefeet which is very painfull and scissor effect wheels especially with the mesh platform can actually kill rodents because their nail will get trapped and rip it out and those metals on top can trap their heads and brake their necks or suffocate them. So there is a lot to know when considering any rodent ❤ Thanks to Facebook educational rodent groups more people are more aware of dangers and know the basics.

Honey bear hampsters are the best pets. We all loved our nieces so much, Hoodini was apart of our family.
P.S. for anyone reading, Syrian Hamsters have many aliases; Common or Golden, Bear, Fancy Bear, Teddy Bear, Panda Bear, and Honey Bear Hamster as well as the scientific name...

@@dawnvega383 If you're not on top of cleaning the bin, and doing bi-weekly deep cleans/replacing the _large_ amount of bedding they need, it might smell. Also, don't use woodchips. They use a kind of wood that's actually very bad for their health.
They're as intelligent as many dogs & cats I've had, and very context sensitive. As long as they see you're not a threat, or you help them when they're in distress, they'll warm to your presence. They say you're supposed to leave them be for three weeks, but I was able to tame mine in three days, by keeping an eye on his needs. Like when his wheel tipped over, and he was anxious to get back on it.
I don't really have many more tips beyond that. I kept mine near my computer, where I work, so he was with me daily. They may be solitary creatures but they _do_ need that companionship from us.
@@dawnvega383You just have to keep their cage clean. Hamster pee is stinky, but they only pee in one corner of the cage, so just take out the pee liter litter frequently.
My cat caught a chipmunk, brought it in my house and I was able to catch her with a small animal cage. She was clinging to life, on her back, cold and barely breathing. I nursed her back to life and after about 5 days she was back to normal. My cat caught a couple other chipmunks, one i caught in a sheet and released and one I took to wildlife rescue and he died. This one I said I’ll take care of it, even though it is illegal without a license (oh well!) She was such a sweet thing! I would give her water from a syringe for small animals, fed her peanut butter, black sunflower seeds that go in my bird feeder, apples, tomatoes, grapes, peanuts, etc. I would hold her and lie with her. I fell asleep with her one time for 3 hours and she was still by my side! Comfy and cozy! I had to make a choice whether I should keep her and get her a cage or release her. I decided to release her, even after two weeks of my boyfriend and I cuddling her, feeding her, loving her and caring for her. It was a miracle that she survived! I thought maybe if I kept her, she would live a longer life because it’s so dangerous outside in the wild.
:::sigh::: We released her together and she was so happy. It’s all about her, not about my boyfriend and my feelings. This was a week or two ago. I still sit on the front porch and think of her, talk to her, whistle for her and sing for her like I did when I had her. I wish she would visit… but I’m doubtful.

I ended up raising various species of wasps and bees indoors as pets, because that's what true nerds tend to do, and subconsciously trained through pain not to roll over in my sleep. Wasps and bees like body heat, and I'd inevitably always end up with one or two under the blankets by morning and had to be very slow about moving right away. Got some good videos of my favorite bald face wasp, she would always be right next to my face on the pillow when I'd wake up. Would let me hold her and everything. Reminded me of a very proud and independent cat, that yet still liked to be spoiled and praised. So many species are capable of so much more than common perception will ever give them credit for.

I had a Teddy Hamster just like that. His name was Henry and he was awesome.
I’d let him out his cage to roam free and call him back in after a couple hours, and he’d just run and hop back in.
He had a huge personality and really left an impression on everyone he met.

Yep, I’ve had several different rodents as pets rats,hamsters, mice, gerbils and more they all have been so sweet and connected to me. Not a rodent but even my turtle loved me
@@Screwshrew I wish my two gerbils would cuddle up to me like this, even after a year and a half they're still so skittish. But I can at least pet them briefly if I bribe them with treats, and they might come up and sniff my face with tiny little squeaky sniffs. Love my gorgeous paranoid pom-poms lol. ❤️

@@Screwshrew They really are fun to watch, always being such cute goofy little guys, zooming about, wrestling, having little slap fights over the water bottle, trying so persistently to dig through solid glass, and investigating everything new in their tank. ^_^ It's like having a miniature zoo/circus in my room!

That's an animal who feels so much comfort within you. My cat has got so used to me (even when she grooms herself all day, but when i get back from running, ill take my hoodie off and not a second later, shes right on it, pawing at it and purring like nothing on earth. Just too cute. ❤❤
