Vans RV 10 - Rudder Fairings and Backing Plate

Vans RV 10 build update - Rudder Fairings and Backing Plate. This is another section I originally skipped this when doing the tail section but now that my finishing kit was coming I wanted to get it completed and start developing my fiberglass / epoxy skills. This one is adding the fairings to the rudder and also putting an aluminum backing plate on the inside of the fairings to ensure that the rivets would not pull through. Not sure if it was really necessary but it was piece of mind for me. I initially tried to attach the aluminum with epoxy but ultimately that failed so i switched to JBweld which worked great.

Vic Syracuse just posted a video on his channel about using thin washers instead of a metal strip. Go check that out, it looked pretty good.

Yep I had seen that as well, frankly i did the strips because it did not require me to align the washers to the holes :-)
