HI Stephan, great video. Strangely this is exactly what we drilled in class today.

I was just thinking about this last night. This is the best teaching on a proper stand-up, even better than Rener and Riron Gracie's, which only covered the basics.

Very nice 👍🏼 instructional. I use that knee shield a lot, very effective. I know it’s incorrect, but I tend to slide both feet back simultaneously for the technical standup; probably a habit from soccer ⚽️.

Richard Fishbein If there is still some distance to your opponent and you're reaching far back, then I think that should be fine, too

Hey Stephan could you make a video on your training schedule.
Eg: list of exercises, drills etc...
I want to make a schedule of my own.
    Please help

Reverse hair transplant? Where are you moving it to?

Stephan that was a good concept but I feel it's not good. If you already established that you could push off with both your legs away from the attacker. Why would you get right back up and reposition yourself in front of him to place your hand on his trap and use forearm as lever. You're still gonna get punched in the face. It was good that you pushed away with your legs to create distance. Use that to get up and combat ready.

As Elliott mentioned in the video this is to learn the body mechanics of the standup. That has to be perfect first, and then you learn the more combative application afterwards. Also simply kicking your opponent away and trying to then quickly stand up often doesn’t work if he’s putting pressure on you - your standup technique needs to be able to handle his body weight driving forwards against you!

Run away from a fight? And miss a chance to test all that training??? BJJ was based on proving you are the best around and that no one was ever gonna keep you down.

You got to know when to hold em, know when to fold em, know when to walk away, know when to run...

      Fight ‘til the end
      Cause your life will depend
On the strength that you have inside you
      Ah you gotta be proud
      Starin’ out in the cloud
When the odds in the game defy you
Try your best to win them all
And one day time will tell
When you’re the one that’s standing there
      You’ll reach the final bell!

Quite possibly the dumbest RUclips comment I’ve ever read. Have fun getting your skull kicked in by your opponent’s buddies while you “test your training”
