- I thank you for checking out this video, Im just your average guy having Fun with tools. I test tools out to see what these tools can do, and what they can't do. Please Subscribe to the channel and get that tool fix here. Have a great day!
Your bias towards the fuel is too obvious towards the FUEL. you handle the brushless very differently. Less serious. No fair comparison
Thank you for saying that about Amp hour I get people that try to argue with me constantly. “Well they both put out 18 V so how is it different”. the best way I can put it is under no strain or resistance they will test they same but once variables like resistance is Introduced the smaller Ah will not sustain power like the higher amp hour will. It’s not that the higher amp hour puts out more than 18v it’s that it can sustain its output under load or stress.
As someone who has held a job repairing power tools, one of the biggest killers of a drill is improper use. Anytime you are drilling a large hole, 3/4 and up, you should be using speed 1. Speed 2 is really for drilling thru metal. It will cause failure in the gearbox if you are using speed 2 to drill big holes. Nowadays, with the electronics, the tool stops when it's over torqued. Back in the day, the gears would crack and snap. It doesn't matter if..."well the Fuel can do it on speed 2"... It's still improper use!
that is what these tests are for though. I put these tools through a lot to see if they break. so people know what to expect
Second gear on drills is not there for metal drilling. That's a good way to murder bits, and in thicker metal, to break your wrist.
Yeah I always use speed one just for battery saving consumption unless I need to bump it up.
As an electrician, thanks for this info.
I like how you always support other tool guys out there
I only have the Brushless Impact and it has never let me down.
as long as it works for you, there is nothing wrong with that :)
Man Caver Tools I use my M12 fuel most of the time.
When I’m screwing 6 3/4” lags into lvls, I can tell the difference between my brushless impact, and the companies fuel impacts for sure.
@@Megadeadpeople I bought myself the fuel impact for Christmas. Hopefully the collet works without a hitch.
@@DamionJR4923 I haven’t had one issue with mine in the last 3 months. We’ll see.
The 6.0 battery actually has higher output than the 8.0 because the lower capacity cells in the 6.0 have higher output than the cells used in the 8.0
I do thank you so much for viewing :)
What about the 3? That alone can't account for the difference.
The 8ah high output actually has weaker cells than the 6ah version. Not that either drill can really take advantage of the extra juice from the 6.0 vs the 8.0 anyway though.
After the fact that we see in your video, the same tool to screw a 6-inch screw (13:03) faster than a 4-inch screw (12:10)...
...I don't think you believe that there is someone in this universe who takes your measurements and results seriously...
I have the Milwaukee M12s fuel and they are small and kick ass too, well made
The m12 system is the best 12v system out there. I have no complaints and I thank you Robert
The brushless impact is a beast..
The #1 ever made
Although I knew that the fuel would outclass the brushless, you definitely proved it. I don't think that the difference in battery amperage was necessary. Would've liked an even comparison because I'd wanna see just how much the better the fuel in an even test.
if I made the batteries equal the brushless would have lost even more
@@ManCaverTools I've seen the 6ah give more power than the 8 though
Yes, Torque test showed 6AH gives more power than 8AH. They explored the reason and it has to do with different cells being used. For high draw tools, the 8AH would win though (battery vs battery). I have fuel myself though. I'm sure it's more powerful.
@@ManCaverTools i'm sure the fuel is more powerful but the variables such as the amount of force and weight being used weren't the same. Like when the second test with the circular hole saw.
Look at you supporting the VCG crew
I love VCG construction
TIM from Canada don’t start now by giving me the feedback did not work the first time I love the show.
something to keep in mind, the brushless non fuel tools dont utilize the upwards pf 30% more power output on the HO batteries, the chip in the fuel tools recognizes the 21700 cells and uses that extra juice for output, the brushless versions only have a longer run time but not a power increase
Thank you for this add.
That fuel is an undoubteldy awesome tool but I find my BL too powerful in my day to day use doing studwork and boarding, I can only think how many more screws I'd send straight through timber out the other side with the fuel
It’s just trigger discipline
I have the gen 3 fuel impact driver and hammer drill. I also own the M18 brushless non fuel set. To be honest they both work great. I found a sale on the brushless non fuel and bought for batteries.
Thanks for this. I have both the brushless and fuel versions of the drill and same with the impacts though the brushless impact I have is the variable speed version. The fuel drill is definitely more powerful, but I do prefer the form factor of the brushless a bit more. It's just more comfortable to hold and use. The impacts I prefer the fuel version though.
You are welcome NW. and I thank you
I'm so glad this was here. I saw the promo impact at home depot yesterday. I'm not too proud to admit I thought the onlyt difference between Milwaukee tools was fuel meant brushless and anything else was brushed.... That kit spun my gears and now I know.
Right, I'm just catching all this as well after purchasing the $500 combo. I thought they all were brushless. Returning it to go with fuel. Will be $500 extra but 2 more batteries and 2 less tools I won't use.
I have the brushless combo. I use them at home for DIY type stuff and repairing fences etc. Since I enjoy doing that kind of stuff, I don’t care how long it takes. If it was for work, that would be different. I bought Milwaukee for its quality.
I didn’t know what the difference was between the versions until I saw this video. That’s amazing.
Life is nothing more than comparing how quickly lag bolts can be driven in a rounder.
exactly
Love how you always rep my boys vcg, thanks for the vid man!
Love VCG and I thank you Levi
Thanks !!! honestly didnt expect that much of a difference, good to know that I have the best drill & impact for the truly demanding jobs.
I know I’m late to the party on this but I can confirm the trouble the brushless drill driver has when boring holes I use it daily to cut holes in metal traffic signal poles and it works better in speed one. Now as for the impact I use it to drive lags into wood poles and it works but it’s an impact driver not a impact wrench so I normally use my 2454 3/8 impact wrench for those. These are good tools but the fuel are obviously build better. Thanks for the video.
I thank you Bac
Ok Dave, we know you in love ♥️♥️♥️ with the drill fuel set . It's weird the relationship you have with those tools , i am shocked !!!😂😱😂👍🇫🇷
lol. I love tools bro lol
@@ManCaverTools I get the same criticism from Family for having them up in my bedroom walls lol not a job site. I got another set for work though they would never understand
Ok only 9 minutes in and I already see what I needed to see. The fuel is far superior. Why do I have to be poor I really need that fuel set driver and impact. Thanks for doing these you really help people out. It lets us know what tools will do what we need or not before wasting money on them.
That is exactly why I do these videos. :)
You can find them used for a lot less
This makes me want to return the brushless now. Right now with the promo it’s $100 more for the fuel with the promo right now after I return the extra batteries. @man caver tools. Do I need to worry about the collet issue?
Ebay sells milwaukee tools for a pretty good price, if you already have a decent amount of batterys and a charger, you can slowly start getting getting fuel tools🤙🤙
Good video hoss.....even though the regular brushless had is ass handed to it on a silver platter that certainly does not mean that the regular brushless is junk by no means and I'm gonna tell ya why. I have both sets of these drills that get used hard every day.....never had a problem with the regular brushless units however the fuels haven't given me the reliable every day performance as the regular brushless has......I bleed Milwaukee but I am telling you why myself and my crew has experienced. Also just had my 6 1/2" fuel circular saw motor lock up tighter than a nuns zipper ( if they wore pants that is )
snap. im sorry about that motor. there is nothing wrong with the regular brushless tools. they still get the job done and I thanky you Donny
@@ManCaverTools 😂😂😂
@@ManCaverTools did it die ?
Our milwaukee fuel drills & impact drivers have 3 issues, chucks cant hold drill, power button works when it wants and Electronic torq limitter on speed 2 is so over protective no big hole saws or drills cant be used on wood and even less with Iron.... And yes i know the speed is To high on Iron, but there is no use To drive it on full speed. It causes tools To melt even using cut oil. But its easier To find the right cut speed.
I chose Milwaukee's M18 brushless line because in my research, other people came up with similar observations as yours. If I worked at a job where my tools were my livelihood, I would choose the Fuel line.
You should be ashamed of yourself, you featured a VCG hat and didn't call the spade bits spaddle bits
lol
Dang and i just bought the brushless kit for sale from home depot wish i saw this... i mean ima beginner wpuld you say the brushless is still good compared to standerd drills from other brands ?
The brushless is a good start, still very powerful tools
The regular brushless are still really strong, you could even break your wrist from the torque if you’re not careful. The fuel are just another class. I’d say for just a regular homeowner who’s doing beginner stuff, the brushless will be more than enough
I own both impacts, i prefer the regular brushless because the fuel doesn't seem to work well with the 5.0 packs, it makes the trigger stop working
Which Milwaukee tool is best then? The fuel or the brushless to buy?
I think Torque Test Channel (TTC) did a comparison test of all the Milwaukee M18 batteries and they found the 6.0 HO battery outperformed the 8.0 HO. This might play a bigger factor on tools that are more "Direct Drive" like a drill vs an impact driver.
Kinda funny how you did the test with the fuel and kept it wide open the whole time and kept messing with trigger on the brushless..atleast make a fair test bro
Just use the same battery in both. What a silly idea using different batteries.
Because it would be too much of a landslide, but it would be a fair comparison
the regular brushless still got destroyed
Would you choose fuel combo kit/system over any other systems? Several of their tools just seem to be tops overall. There yard tools look pretty competitive, as far as I know? Wish they did legit top handle chainsaw!
I love all brands, Right now my favorite impact driver isThe new Dewalt Atomic
I'm wondering if the results would be different with non high-output batteries. I dont think the standard brushless stuff can take advantage of the high output can it?
the 21700 cells will work for all tools. but I dont recommend you use the with the brushed tools that often
@@ManCaverTools a brushed motor is going to take whatever u give it. Most brushed motors can handle twice the voltage they are rated for, it's the current that kills them. They just take it. Fuel and brushless has electronics that can limit the output!
I think a home tool this brushless kit is actually good. A daily worker needs fuel though.
Can you compare m12 fuel to milwaukee brushless (non-fuel)?
yes I can and that is a good suggestion
Fuel line is darn impressive. I got a battery adaptor just so I can get into Milwaukee stuff without havi g to totally switch platforms.
I think that is a good idea and I thank you for viewing Browse
Hmmm, I didn't know there is such a thing as a battery adapter. Tell me more! Have Ryobi mainly now, but was thinking about switching to Milwaukee for a 7 1/4 circular saw.
In the ten inch test it was obvious you predrilled the fuel hole. Come on man.
You had the brushless on torque setting 1 most the video while the fuel were on the drill setting. Videos not accurate
Really hurting my feelings on this one. Should have gotten the fuel! Oh well it's just for little projects haven't met anything they won't handle personally
Don’t feel bad, you’ll just save a few seconds here and there, the brushless is still really powerful
When I look at Home Depot is says they are booth brushless but the fuel is stronger and the other one they call the surge
You obviously don't know how to use power tools I have both and there isn't any difference and the bigger battery doesn't give more power it just last longer
Ma y different channels in many different videos including mine. Already proven that different ah batteries provide the tool with more power for a task. It’s not a debate anymore and hasn’t been for years. You gotta keep up with the times.
Didn’t know there was such a big difference between the two.
Thanks for another great video!
that is why I do these test, so people know without spending there Money and finding out
I agree I didn't know the difference would be this shocking
Saw the new Milwaukee preview for the NEW impact wrenches...it looks like the future “Gen 4 impact” might have the tri-lights???
I am excited to see what the Gen 4 will look like
i like to see brushless proved wrong. glad im still old school and prefer brushed tools
@mancavertools hey what is that little blower thing that you use?
thanks for the video! how do the non-fuel compare to the XR line of Delwalts? (I am confident the fuel version beats them...but not sure about the brushless M18 non-fuel)
Hi, could you compare Impact driver Milwaukee M18FID2 226Nm vs Dewalt DCF887 205Nm?
yes I can and I thank you for the suggestion
I spent the extra for the fuel and was wondering if I wasted my money. Appreciate the video!
you did not waist your money. the Fuel is so much better and will last you longer as well and I thank you for viewing Truly
Waste not waist
its like 2x the price and like 2 times better, makes sense 😂
The 6amp gives more power than 8amp and 12amp batteries
I will love to put that to the test
Would be really interesting to see the m12 fuel compared to that m18 brushless
I own both of these tools and quite frankly I prefer the regular brushless impact over the fuel 9 out of 10 times. The fuel on the third setting has a lot of power but when driving screws it is quick to cam out and strip screws. You have to really put a lot of pressure down on the tool. I love the brushless pack it is faster than heaters and dewalts but does not cam out as fast as the fuel
Hi I’ve literally had the exact same problem with my fuel I know your probably not gonna see this but does your brushless impact almost stick to the screw if you get me?
Fuel is a bit too much power sometimes, it keeps breaking screw heads and its frustrating at times , just my thoughts
I have an M12 Fuel impact and I can say that sometimes it is too powerful yes. Fortunately there are mode selections that aren't the insanity that is mode 3, but cheap zinc screws that are usually included with vinyl deck railing can be easily stripped because the tool is driving them so fast even on speed 2.
You should do a vs video with the fuel impact driver and the Makita top of the line one because if you put the Makita one in auto mode it will smash the fuel one
I plan to. more versus videos coming soon
The New 40v Makita impact driver Lost Against the Milwaukee Fuel 18v impact driver. I seen a Video of it. An the guy doing the video was a Makita Fan..
8:00 that's embarrassing, dewalt gets stuck like that in 3rd gear,so I put it into 2nd it goes perfectly with decent speed, milwaukee you gotta put it in 1st gear and that's slow and too torquee
Today were going to fond out the ttt ttttt lol
I already thought it was pointless to buy Milwaukee if you don't buy a fuel, but I didn't expect that margin. That's crazy! You'd be better off buying a good Ryobi, Kobalt, Craftsman, etc. If you're going to buy from expensive tool brands make sure you buy their nice tools or you're kinda wasting your money for the name.
its either go big or go home situation
Man the fuel is a beast
I agree with you on that
You sir, just sold a drill today
When you tightened the chuck you then backed off one click. I've seen other people on here debunking this "feature" Where did you get that from and how can we know for sure if it really is a thing or not?
I tired it out a long time ago and people were telling me it doesnt work but it does. but there is a problem with locking it. when its locked and you to something that requires the max amount of torque, you risk braking the chuck or the bit. its not worth locking it. ive broken a couple of chucks doing that
So just to clarify, are we saying not to do the one click back?
Correct it’s not worth doing. Just tighten the chuck normally is good
Checks out. Milwaukee Fuel are epic tools. Non-Fuel are average at best. Only worth buying if you already have Fuel tools and want one specific tool for a job that doesn't have to be heavy grade. Mechanic probably doesn't need a Fuel drill, etc. Milwaukee non-Fuel don't make a lot of sense otherwise, there are better mid-range tool lines out there usually for less money. Rigid, Ryobi, Kobalt etc.
Kobalt for example, yeah they are made to a lower price point than Milwaukee Fuel. But each tool is aiming to be the best possible for that money, some of those Kobalt tools are really very good. Meanwhile non-Fuel are clearly intended to be a step below Fuel and that shows in performance.
What about 2nd speed!? All testing was in 1st gear.
because the brushless "NON FUEL" versions can't do it on speed 2
You should’ve used the same batteries. The 6AH uses higher discharge cells than the 8. You didn’t give Brushless “home field advantage” you think you gave them. Quite the opposite actually.
I'll just have to save and spend the extra money for the fuel impact driver.....
its worth it.
@@ManCaverTools Yes, that was an awesome demonstration. I'm in the process of purchasing the brushless fuel combo kit now from Home Depot.
Can you do a review on the Ryobi table saw?
yes I can and I thank you for the suggestion Eva
@@ManCaverTools No problem!
All these tools are brushless. This is Non Fuel vs Fuel i guess.
Why test these at the lowest torque/speed? Why not the max for both?
when it comes to the drills, some tasks can only be done on speed 1. speed 2 cant do some tasks
I have the little M12 Fuel with the tri light LED. Power is about the same as the M18 Brushless (non fuel) despite it's miniature size. Considering an M18 Fuel drill and impact driver as well.
Anything that isn't fuel is millwaukees version of harbor freight. Please test the non fuel against harbor freight to prove what I have known all along! Lol
I will be getting Harbor freight tools soon :)
Aaand... time! Thank you for this comparison. Im stuck in the Dewalt Microverse because of batteries but you make me want to defect, Comrade. Heh
Despite my smart ass comment, this was a helpful video. I’ve used the Brushless combo non fuel duo for a year. This was a year of drywalling two houses and other daily uses as a tradesmen. Next pay, I’m gonna buy myself the latest Fuel impact (tool only) to add to my arsenal. I’m not gonna get the Fuel Hammer drill, but I am gonna add a Fuel Grinder to my Milwaukee collection. I have a mix of Milwaukee Brushless and a Brushed sawzall and M12 Hackzall and I have the Brushless non fuel circular saw. I’ve been around home building and remodeling all my life, but started doing it full time as a career last year. I could start my own company, but I enjoy working for a couple investors that flip and turn homes into rentals. I’m happy with a fair daily rate.
Here’s a tip I’ve been doing to keep my tools clean. They get dirty and scuffed up, but nothings worse IMO than a grimy tool. I mix a little hot water with Gojo and oxy powder and after blowing them off with the compressor, I get a rag and dip into my solution and wring out thoroughly, then wipe the exterior down. I’ll then use the shop vac to get anything left behind. Tools are an investment and I’m a minimalist, so I take good care of everything I own. Again, great video!
If only we could get a good honest tool review now and then. It’s pretty obvious he’s making the brushless perform worse than fuel. Although I have all the fuel tools my self, can definitely say my brushless impact driver is better than my fuel. Way less vibration, never stops
You have to use the tools right lol
You just summed my next purchase.. nice job great video. You the man!!!
They are the older one I have just the brushless ones to mine are different looking the drill is 2902.20 and drill driver is 2850.20
very good and I thank you Roger
Brushless 2902 Milwaukee Drill Driver vs. Fuel? The Fuel outperformed the 2801 series BL handily, but the compact size of the 2801 (only 2.45lbs) makes it pretty attractive as a day to day drill. What are your thoughts on the 2902 BL, with 50% more torque but only slightly less heavy than the Fuel. Is the Fuel still the hands down winner?
3:10 damn I should used this one over my mid torque wrench with the drill having 1200 lbs of torque. I'm sold. Though I'd be scared of broken fingers, wrists, arms, and backs (maybe). I know it should be in inch pounds. but it sure looks like LBS.
I have both M18 and M12 and the 12 is no slouch either.
I agree with you on that. I love 12v tools and I thank you for viewing David
Boss, compare that Milwaukee fuel and Metabo brand which is the best and beast.Tnx
once I get Metabo I will
From a tradesman's point of view . I dont care how fast a tool cuts, bores or drives. Its the finished product. I also prefer variable speed triggers and muscle memory to bothering to push buttons on the fuel Of course Ill get a fuel when I can but in reality I need it for the Skill saw and grinder, nothing else. I honestly don't see a huge difference in the other tools . Ill always still use a corded tool where it makes sense
I gotcha bro. This is a very old video. but tools these days have some might and portability
That settles it then..I have both brushless models, but will definitely be making the upgrade to fuel..I suppose I wait for Gen 4 to be available in my area
the Fuel is so much more better and I thank you for viewing Kevin
Hey put a 5" or 8" long drill bit in that m18 fuel hammer driver drill and show everyone how crooked the chuck is in that drill...😡
Can you please do the fuel M18 impact vs the fuel surge impact? I'd love to see the difference and nobody does that
once I get an m18 surge I will
if you arent a professional contractor there is no reason to spend the money on the fuel. not to mention you were full of s**t from the first "test", you purposly took forever between holes on the brushless to run the time up however we can all clearly see they were exactly the same speed going through the wood. I stopped watching and flagged for misinformation right there.
I dont care about the fuel. Its for carpentry and mechanical work. I use tools for work but definitely not abusive work.
It is true, that model of Milwakee the impact screwdriver there is nothing to give it with, here in Argentina the tool with two batteries and a charger are uss 900, crazy, like the hilti, all very expensive.
the video is very good
I am not too sure of that one, but ill look into it
I Wonder if you could compare 2 impact drivers with 1/4 & 1/2 and about Same torgue using BIG bolts, beacause i have a feeling that even with less power on paper 1/2 would still win.
I have a new test ill be doing soon when it comes to impact drivers and impact wrenches
You didn’t even stop the timer right on the brushless none fuel model…
there is no comparison bro. this is a very old video
Gotcha haha
How you like that ryobi air blower? Need something to blow out dust in my backhoe , looks strong and perfect! Bought a stupid "power" duster that is pretty weak for what I need. Don't have any ryobi, but it would just stay in my backhoe and use it once a week. Recommend?
TIM from Canada my question is on all impacts... why do they put the Quick release on impacts the studies have shown that quick release do not work. There is a fail safe in this... I would like to go to a store and buy an impact it has the chuck on it do not want to be forced to buy impact with quick release this is garbage.. in Canada you were spending at least $ 199. Canadian four starter impact on Milwaukee.. sometimes you get this on sale.. if you want to go to another brand of impact... ranges anywhere from $79.. to $199 and up I have seen the impacts in Canada go as high as $450.. Canadian.. this is still too much money.. but that is another show.. (my problem is with impacts and quick release) they need to fix this or give people the option of buying keyless chuck on impacts...
This was sloppy dude
The 6.0HO has a higher peak watt output over the 8.0ho.
Compare samsung 30t v 40t cells. This is a massive advantage for the Fuel drill.
Nice video bro. Have you made a comparison between this brushless (not fuel) combo and the cheap DeWalt xr combo (DCD796 and DCF887 w/ 2ah bats)?
more versus videos will be coming up
