Ben White didn't turn down England, he turned down Southgate and Steve Holland. Even if he did play for England, Southgate would never start him over Walker. Walker's legs are gone, it was so obvious in the Euros. Rory is not making sense as always.

This is for Rory... is he aware of what happened with the French and Spanish women's teams last year? A lot of the French players didnt get along with Corinne Diacre and refused to play for the national team if she was in charge. She was fired, Herve Renard (Saudi men's team coach in Qatar WC) took over and those who were revolting promptly returned. Same with the Spanish women under Jorge Vilda.. there were like 15 players who refused to play. Now that he is no longer the coach, they are back in the team.
If a player isnt comfortable in the environment under a particular coach, you cannot just ignore that just for the sake of playing for your country. Mentally the player will just not be in the right headspace and their performance will suffer massively. At least they are allowing someone else the chance in the interim till things change for them to reconsider.

Also, why would anyone want to be in an environment with someone (Holland) who has disrespected them, or a Manager who sided with his assistant and then threw said player under the bus? Rory (my fellow Chelsea boy) needs to pipe down. Ben White had an issue with the previous management. The feelings were apparently mutual from Steve Holland, but the media buried the story for England. They would most likely not have given him many minutes anyway.

So why should White go when he knows he won’t be picked or get any minutes no matter how bad Walker plays. Southgate was never going to play Ben White. Holland didn’t like White. He completely disapproved of him and how he doesn’t watch football. He completely ignored what he’s actual capable of. Im not an England fan and Arsenal is my favorite english team, but I absolutely agree with Rory here. Ben White is on record saying he doesnt care about football. For him its a job, so he fulfills his role for the club since they pay him, but he cant be bothered to represent his country for free. That type of character should never be selected for national side, I dont care which country you play for...

White was a complete professional at Brighton under many managers and as I told someone else, last season white played months on a broken leg for Arsenal when we did not have anyone on his level to replace him at RB. White gracefully stepped out of his CB role to allow Saliba to start when saliba first arrived at Arsenal. We did not hear any stories about white acting up and white responded by turning into a top fullback bc we needed a fullback more than a Centerback.

The players usually come back disappointed or broken; they usually either lose or they get unfairly criticized. Hard to find a player whose confidence or career improved after going to a tournament for England.
