Hey guys! Today we introduce our first video from our new Tokyo Series! Asakusa has always been one of my favorite places in Tokyo. Sure it's touristy and crowded, but it's a place full of history and charm. Plus there's a plethora of delicious street food that shouldn't be missed! We really hope you enjoy this video! One more thing. If you're interested in beautiful abstract art, don't forget to visit Vinn's website at www.vinnwong.com/ Hope you are all having a fantastic day!!!
+Tania LoNero I also needed to add that umm, can you send me to all the places. lol I know I'm gonna get lost lol. or you could be our tour guide?😋 was Satoshi not feeling well? oh I'm gonna get the stuff to make Melon Pan here at home.
Actually the first four places are all located on that street. The rest are located around the area and are pretty easy to find. If you are planning on going soon, just let me know and I'll help out as much as I can.
They all look so yummy. I was born on Okinawa (32 years ago) and still remember the street food. I love that you guys aren't afraid to share and swap food.
nothing wrong with sharing! In fact, that's the way to try different varieties! :) How long did you live in Okinawa? It's one of my favorites places to visit in Japan. I might be visiting this November!
I just love your videos! I live in Seattle and work at a very busy local barbershop. I look forward to your videos to wind down with in the evening.. also because of you I'm dying to visit Japan !
Guys, thanks for the fabulous tour of the Japan's street foods! I love that you listed the foods (complete with English translations) and their locations in the description! As an Italian American might say, I could mangia on monja the entire day! Thanks for the great show!
Love the video. The Cicada sounds in the back AWESOME!. It makes you feel like we were there with you! Ice Monaka looks soooo yummy!!! All your videos make me hungry LOL Please keep it up.
Excellent vlog to assist us who will be travelling there to know the names and exactly what they are...thanks for that. Hubby and I are really excited to try many of these new and wonderful snacks!! Cheers from YYC 🇨🇦✌🏼️
Okay, this looks like my dream foodie excursion! I love all the food artisans in Japan. I've never had hot senbei before. That's definitely going on my bucket list! Glad that you had kakigori too; it looked like a swelteringly hot day.
Domo, this was very fun to watch all the wonderful stuffed breads and soft treats! I am very impressed with the unique ice cream sandwich, it is a reasonable size and keeps the fingers clean! I will be scouring our Japanese store soon for more delightful treats. “Itadaki-masu”. いただきます。
That was such a fun video with Vinn! Oh my goodness - every single food you tried looked positively amazing! I want them all! I was trying to think which one I would want to try first, and amazingly, I think it is the senbei. I love senbei, but I have never had them when they were just freshly made. I'd love to see what they taste like, hot off the grill. In fact, I just bought senbei at the store today! Thanks for another great video. Take care!
This video is something I've wanted to make for awhile now. But every time there was some kind of problem. Rain, stores were closed, sound was funny, ran out or batteries, got sick. haha. It was almost as if I it wasn't meant to be. I finally sat down and made a storyboard of how I wanted the video to be. It took lots of planning to get this video right, so I am happy that you enjoyed this one my friend. I am in love with senbei too. I can eat it everyday, which is NOT a good thing for my waistline. haha. The fresh ones are really good. I hope you get a chance to try it one of these days.
Shinichi, thank you so much for sticking with it, even when so many things seemed to be making it hard to follow through with your goal this time. It's a marvelous video! It makes me wish I could magically travel to Japan, walk down that street, and eat all of the same delicious treats, too! It's fun to know that you enjoy senbei so much. They really are an amazing snack, and there is such a variety of them. At the local Asian market, our choice is somewhat limited, but when I go to San Francisco and I can visit the Japanese supermarkets there, I am lucky because they have quite a good variety! I come home with a senbei collection to last me for awhile. Ha ha ha! :-) Thanks again to you and Satoshi for your videos. I really look forward to them so much. Thanks to Vinn, too, for being on this video! It really was great. Take care, be well, and say hi to Justin!
We love watch in your videos! We travel to Tokyo every year and a half and we are always looking for new things to do a d new foods to try. Thanks for posting such great videos!
I love this series! Please do more. I'm planning on traveling to Japan sometime in the future. And this video has helped me a lot with food choices. Thank you!
Great guide guys! Thank you for putting the addresses and other important info on this! I tried the age manju when I was in Tokyo and I loved it! I wanna go around on a food trip in Asakusa the next time I go there *u*
So glad you enjoyed this! I am making it my mission to look for great street food around Tokyo. That way you guys will have a huge list when you visit! Cheers!
Great video! Love food tours like this. Maybe you can make this a series in different neighbourhoods?? You've given loads of spots to try on my trip, thanks!
one of my favorite places in Tokyo, next to a Yoshinoya. Thank you for the tour of the snacks, I'll have to try some next trip, I was partial to a soft cream Matcha/Vanilla swirl cone or fresh yakitori.
Ive never tried dAngo but ive seen it so much in videos and in anime that i think that if i ever go to japan it will be the first thing i eat!!! Also, you guys are both very handsome!
Nice video! :) I visited Asakusa this summer and the freshly baked Melon Pan was very good! Next time I go to Tokyo again, I will definitely go to these places to try all the street food!! :D
I have to try the "ice monaka"! At my last trip, I has bought monaka filled with chestnuts and red been paste in a shop, called "Morihachi Hompo" in Skytree Town. Maybe even you know this shop. The building looks like a small castle. It looks very cute. And the monaka was very tasty. I regret, that I just bought two pieses of them.
Hi Guys, I've been watching you guys for a while. I just wanted to say that thanks to video I knew what to eat when my tour visited the shrine today. I had Deep fried Manju and Melon pan and both were delicious.
Thank you, some day I hope to be able to go to see some of the wonderful places you show in your videos. I also look forward to trying the street foods there.
Wow, all of that Street Food looks so tasty... i need to get over to Japan quickly and try them all^^ Thank you for your Vids, i enjoy to watch them. Greets from Germany
I really enjoyed this video! There are so many types of Japanese foods that I have been dying to make, and about 4 of them appeared on this! I honestly hope I get a chance to visit the country one day, it is on my list of things that I really want to do! When I am able to go, I'll keep this video in mind! That way I can hit up all of these awesome places! Thank you so much for this!
From this list I really want to try making Dango! From some of your other videos, I can't wait to try out y'all's mochi ice cream and the Okonomiyaki recipes!
The first time I tried anko, it was love at first bite. I love both tsubu-an and koshi-an. I even make it in my house whenever I can get a hold of azuki.
I want you to try Nure-ama-natto if you haven't yet. It's basically same as anko (as in azuki beans boiled with sugar), but the beans keep their shapes.
I have to stop watching your videos! I am not coming to Tokyo till next April and already, thanks to you, my list of things to do is soooo long! First I made a note of all the ice-creams, Now I have all these new things to add! I am staying in Asakusa so I already know what I will be eating! My last visit I only had the melon pan! And I love Vinn's work! I want an iphone case! Just one problem! I don't know which one to choose, they are all so lovely! Maybe I should wait till I come. Does he have a studio where you can see all his beautiful works or is it only through the web site?
RUclips recommended me your video. And I watched it. It is such an interesting video. Thank you so much for sharing. I look forward to visiting Japan one day. - Flor from Singapore:)
@TabiEats 😊You are welcome! All your food, travel and cooking videos are wonderful to watch. Am very happy to have found your channel:) Keep up the good work!!🌸🌸☘☘
Having Matcha readily available pretty much everywhere must be one of the best things about lining in Japan…if I want to have some Matcha I have to order it online and prepare it myself…such a hassle xD
TabiEats Germany. Almost no Matcha to be had here, and even if there is something called "Matcha" on the menu it usually means "low quality Matcha Latte mix, mostly consisting of sugar and milk powder and maybe a bit of ground up green tea that most likely wasn't produced anywhere near Japan", it's atrocious. I hate coffee, too, so green tea and Matcha are my go-to caffeine source :D
so glad you found this interesting. There are so many great food items in Asakusa but we decided to narrow it down to only street food. I just took a look at your channel and I remember watching a few of your videos a year ago!
TabiEats +TabiEats Aww...Really? Thank you for checking out my little channel and for watching a year ago! 😉 I'm thinking I need to start up again. It's fun, and I love the creative outlet. And, your videos are inspiring! Thank you.
No fair you get so many delicious treats in one day! In the background I was sure that din was cicadas, am I wrong? They are such a noisey insect and the shells litter trees for weeks. I think we are due a big brood here next year in Tennessee. I can't remember but have you been to a "Matcha Fest"? Is that a thing, you found 3 things matcha on this day I think and we always keep matcha in our pantry. I think the matcha shave ice looks wonderful and so pretty. Speaking of transcendent beauty I checked out Vinn's art, it is stunning and so exciting. I shared with my wife and a friend, I just couldn't get over the beauty of his work.
You are right. Cicadas for days!!! I originally became interested in getting to know Vinn because of his artwork. We worked on a project couple years back using his artwork and since then, we've become good friends.
Also, Vinn's art is awesome. I'm an artist myself. I do mostly cartoon stuff, knitting/sewing/costuming, and writing. I'm actually a published author :).
I've always wanted to try real hanami dango (came to think of it because of the thumbnail). They were one of the first Japanese food things I ever saw as a child, in an old video game. Over 25 years ago! Still haven't tried it, and ingredients to make my own are really difficult (or impossible?) to find here.
Will be flying to Japan for the first time tomorrow night and staying 2 weeks there. Your videos make me want to spend 1 month instead. Btw hello from Kuala Lumpur!
It is in these kind of videos where I can truly know about Japanese gastronomic culture, great job! Besides, your friend looks like the Japanese version of Brad Pitt hahaha
I was sad taiyaki didn't make the list. That was by far our favourite when we were over in Japan last. The poor vendor in rural kansai was sold out every evening as the kids wanted two or three. One for the trip home and the others for dessert after we ate at the local Joyfull - because man did they love the food at Joyfull haha
We almost ate taiyaki (the shaved ice stand actually is famous for taiyaki) but it was so hot we ended up eating shaved ice. We promise to show you my favorite taiyaki stand in TOkyo!
Thanks guys. I am a Japanese teacher from America and will be taking 9 high school students to Japan next week. We are going to Asakusa and will be trying the street food. We have a better idea on what to get now.
Hey guys! Today we introduce our first video from our new Tokyo Series! Asakusa has always been one of my favorite places in Tokyo. Sure it's touristy and crowded, but it's a place full of history and charm. Plus there's a plethora of delicious street food that shouldn't be missed!

Liked the video. Are all of these shops located between the Lightning gate and the temple? Google maps have a hard time recognizing the address.
omg, so jelly of you both. 😱😱 we see Shinichi's chest?!?!? lol
Thanks to you both for this wonderful video.
+Tania LoNero I also needed to add that umm, can you send me to all the places. lol
I know I'm gonna get lost lol. or you could be our tour guide?😋 was Satoshi not feeling well?

The cooks in Japan are not just chefs, but artisans. So meticulous and searching for perfection. The Japanese way.

WORMGERM me too.. I'm doing a marathon on it now
Don't watch them... you'll have to go everywhere if you do!
I love how you're exchanging your food...such great friendship
I just love your videos! I live in Seattle and work at a very busy local barbershop. I look forward to your videos to wind down with in the evening.. also because of you I'm dying to visit Japan !

I've seen Vinn's artwork before he is incredibly talented!
Thank you! ☺️

Kinda makes me want to visit Japan again to enjoy the foods!
Hi Guys, I've been watching you guys for a while. I just wanted to say that thanks to video I knew what to eat when my tour visited the shrine today. I had Deep fried Manju and Melon pan and both were delicious.

Oh we love nure ama natto. My mother's favorite!
That's so great to hear. And although there is sugar in it, it's way healthier than other types of sweets.
+YEBISU38 I'd love to try that, along with many other authentic wagashi.
+TabiEats Azuki beans are a super food after all. ^^ And when I make anko at home the amount of sugar I use is very controlled.
I have to stop watching your videos! I am not coming to Tokyo till next April and already, thanks to you, my list of things to do is soooo long! First I made a note of all the ice-creams, Now I have all these new things to add!

oh yeah. Matcha can be found pretty much anywhere here. It's really good because I don't drink coffee (Shinichi). Where do you live if I may ask?
TabiEats Germany.
YES!!! #1 is my favorite!!! I always have 2 buy 2 bags of kibi dango for myself. 👍🏼👌🏼☺️
haha! You are like me! Love that stuff!
you two are special
All the food looks so delicious! And what’s that face at the beginning, Vinn? 😮 Haha
Thanks guys. I am a Japanese teacher from America and will be taking 9 high school students to Japan next week. We are going to Asakusa and will be trying the street food. We have a better idea on what to get now.
+Gregory Kreiner hope you guys have a great time here!
