Two beautiful areas of good vibes: The Temple and the nearby Market Place!!! Are those lovely blooming branches over the buildings cherry and/or plum?!!!
I've watched so many of your videos and am so glad you made an updated Asakusa video. I've been wondering about recommendations since Japan is now open to tourism. My husband and I will be going to Japan in June! I'm so excited. Thank you for all your hard work, please keep making this amazing content!
OMGEEE! What an amazing showcase of street foods at Asakusa! I have many fond memories of Asakusa. Of course, the menchikatsu with that awesome cheese pull would be my first choice! Every single thing that you both chose, looked amazing. For brother Shinichi to say that that karaage was one of THE best he’s ever eaten……WOW! Definitely going onto my very long bucket list! Thank you both so much!!
_So_ many great treats! I think my favorites would have been the Cheese Menchi Katsu and the Onigirazu. Yum! Thank you for this updated Asakusa street food video--it was informative and fun! Love to you both. ❤❤
You just made my day when you compared age manju to pirozhki at 10:36, as a Slavic person it instantly convinced me to try these when I go to Japan in April!! Good job, love your stuff, interesting to watch and useful for planning the trip, keep it up
Great video! Reminds us when we stayed in Asakusa last month. Tokyo has so much to offer! On our next Japan trip; we will explore places we didn’t get to see in Tokyo and explore wherever our tour itinerary takes us. No matter where you go in Japan, there’s always something for everybody.
I've only seen white strawberries at a grocery store here once. They called them Rosé strawberries and they were so good. Very sweet which I was not expecting. Hope I can find them again here, they were yummy.😋
I love Asakusa! Got to see the Yabusame festival last time i visited, absolutely amazing! Ofc i dressed up in an Ichiban Happi (Bought from the old couple that sells loads of happi, Kimono and Yukata, aparently the old man has owned it his entire life) and sweated my face off, but 100% worth it! Me and my wife spent about 6 days in Asakusa this time and its always just as much fun. I really miss it and always will. Thanks for making these videos and letting us watch you enjoy the best country in the world!
Thank you for this!! I am in the midst of planning my Tokyo trip in May, and this is absolutely useful and me and my friend will definitely hit up some of the places you guys have tried! :)
Its great! Ive been there many times and i just keep falling deeper and deeper in love with it. Its full of amazing things to see, eat, do and experience. As long as you're polite and try to communicate you cant go wrong with a visit. Id suggest being a bit of a mimic and try to act as the japanese do, some see it as dishonest i just see it as a way to honour their culture, has worked out great for me and my wife :)
@@zipp4everyone263 as long as youre honest and kind you dont need to mimic or do what japanese do. speak a little of their Language can help for them and yourself. and many american has actually moved there and have a good life so being a turist is probabley not gonna be difficult

Aloha from Hawaii!! 🌺 Thank you for this amazing tour of Asakusa! I'm finally going to Japan in June, so I'm watching ALL your videos to prepare for this trip 😊
You cant forget the small-ish dango shop right down the shopping street between Kaminarimon and Sensoji temple, they cover the dango in a salty kinako... Absolutely amazing stuff.
Here in Australia, I have a co-worker from Asakusa, and her family runs a restaurant there. It's called lisbon, I visited on my last trip to Japan (nov 22). The restaurant has been in the family for 90 years!
Nice tour! Everything did look delicious. Having the names shown on screen in English is very helpful to me. Glad I ate before watching or I'd have jumped into the screen. Ha, ha. Hello from Willamette Valley Oregon, US.
Thank you for the insights. I’ll be taking my in-laws from Aichi to Tokyo for their first time. We’ll definitely go to Asakusa and try all these foods. Take care Aloha
Really enjoyed this Guys. Going to Japan in October (from Australia ) for our 8th trip. On previous visits we haven't been very adventurous with food but after watching your video I'm excited to try some of the things you showcased (or maybe all of them) and hopefully a lot more too. 😁
I wonder if the green tea shop on the right side of the temple if you walk along the shrine is still open, they had good ice green and such. And the ice cream shop in nakamise dori, Saya loved that one because they had so many flavours. Would love to try the dango, as I love dango :) That menchi katsu looks like a bitterbal on the outside. Salted butter on yaki imo! Never thought of that but sounds like a good combination.
Asaksua been there since 1700s?! Danm, that's a long history and unbelievable it lasted though all that times. BTW, did you get a new camera? The video looks so vivid. Of course food looks amazing!
I'm based in NZ. The Japanese place in the local SC food court does onigiri but in the same form as a normal sandwhich. That meaning that it has the same dimensions as a sandwich, but the "bread" is rice with an outer layer of seaweed. The filling varies but I prefer the chicken katsu filling (I'm allergic to seafood). Generally Japanese food disappoints overseas as its primarily sushi with the occasional donburi. I'd like to see more of the esoteric dishes such as omraisu.
Hi you guys, fyi just watched Japanese Garden TV, Pro 55. A nice looking place that had a Sake Tasting evening there. Out in the country and you guys like Sake? 😊😊. Laurie NZ.
There are lots of non touristy places to visit in Tokyo. For example you can visit the many shotengais (shopping areas) like the one in Nakano or Koenji. Nihonbashi is another nice place.
That is the headquarters building of Asahi Breweries. The golden structure at the top is the "Asahi Flame", which represents both the 'burning heart of Asahi beer' and a frothy head of beer foam.
Ooh, that onigirazu looks really good and I love ichigo daifuku. I'll try to stop by Tanagocoro when I'm in Asakusa but they don't list their hours. Shinichi, you have said you pronounce some Japanese words differently when speaking English. Is the way you said Asakusa in the video the way Japanese people say it or was that Anglified? It seems some people whisper the u and I don't know which is correct.
My husband got the skewered strawberries, with marshmallows I think, from ginkado when we visited Asakusa, he said they were delicious. (I don't like strawberries myself) He also got from Lawson the most 'life changing' (his words) strawberry diafuku while we were in Tokyo lol.
Hi guys. I always enjoy your videos. I was just watching Mark Weins eating noodles in Fukuoka. It would be great if you guys could meet.😃 Thanks for sharing. Love from Tennessee 🤗💕
Ooh! Ooh! I know Imoyokan! That's what the bad guys used in Gekisou Sentai Carranger to make their monsters giant-sized! But only the good stuff, like you ate! (God, I'm a nerd. 🤓)
I will be in five days the first time in my life in Tokyo and Asakusa. Sorry, but the last thing I want to try is Dango and Mochi. I will try it once but I think that I will not like the chewy and sweet whatever...
As a lactose intolerant person, I'm curious. I was always under the impression that Asian foods typically didn't have dairy in them, but the more food videos I watch, the more dairy based items I see. I'm wondering if this is western culture influencing Japanese/Asian food?
Taylor there are certain areas of Japan that are famous for the quality of their milk, same with areas for strawberries, beef, chicken etc. Japan has an old culture with many areas of specialty.
@Sara Seifert Thank you! Chinese, Japanese and Vietnamese food are always my safe foods because typically they don't have lots or any dairy! Thank you for the information! :)
