Lili Yurch actually she seems fine to me. It's an Asian thing. Asian parents are quite formal with the partners of their children. At least that's the case here in south Asia.
Koh C H......Japanese parents are definitely more on the formal side. I grew up in America with my father, who was American of Japanese descent like me, and my mom who was from Japan. There wasn't a lot of hugging or my parents saying "I love you" when we were growing up. Don't get me wrong....we always knew, it just wasn't expressed. Until......my 2 year old nephew was killed in a tragic accident many years ago. That's when my parents realized that life was too short. Pretty much, from that point forward, it was daily hugs and lots of "I love you's." If you look at the previous cooking videos with Shinichi's mom and Satoshi, you can see how loving and sweet she is with him. ❤️
Mindy's Mom What a very sad way to discover how important expressing and showing (not just feeling) your love is. Seems your nephew's tragic death brought something good to your family - so that is his legacy. My mother was not Japanese but she certainly never showed love. She thought it would "spoil" us! I had to learn to SAY it out loud when I was much older. Now I do it all the time especially with my grandchildren but also with my kids and I can tell you it makes everybody feel good ... and when they say it back to you, there isn't a better feeling in the world! 💓💓 💓💓
Pamela J Levene......I agree! That definitely was Dakota's legacy for my parents. My sister (Dakota's mom), and I, when we would hug our parents--as young children, we always had to instigate that hug....they never did. I make sure and tell my family that I love them throughout the day, on a daily basis. There are many hugs as well. You just never know, and I would feel horrible if something were to happen to a family member, and the last words or actions, were not positive or happy. Especially, as my boys leave the house, and maneuver their car and motorcycle throughout the freeways of Los Angeles. You're so right, in that, there's no better feeling when your loved ones hug you and love you back. ❤️ I'm so sorry that your mom didn't want to "spoil" you with love. You learned to express love to your family. That's THE most important!!
There's something about you both that is so calming and lovely. You're both so sweet and adorable. Your mama makes me laugh, she is so honest and down to business, I love it. Wonderful video.
5:38 OMG ❤️ the way Shinichi looked at Satoshi.... 😍😍 And I will be adding this on my list to visit! Thank you for showing us this place! It’s perfect!
Your mother is so sweet and adorable! Love the bond between mother and son. I lost my mom 3 years ago. What id give just to spend another minute with her. It warms my heart seeing how much you love and cherish moments with her. Subscribed! :)
I know, right? I lost mine in 2002. You never get over them, but it does get better as time goes on. Sometimes, even if I could hear her nagging, it would be like listening to the most beautiful music. I love how kind they are with Shinichi's mom, and she's so cute. :)

Thank you @TabiEats! We spent a day in Jindaiji during a recent Tokyo trip after seeing this video :) It was such a lovely peaceful place and the manju was delicious especially on a chilly day. I wish we could've gone twice! Thank you for the recommendation :D
Tran Lily They're British. We get Street food in certain areas, usually cities, but not in most places. Fast food or restaurants are what we have instead.
I discovered your videos not too long ago. I was having a very stressful day at work, and when I came home I was in a very poor mood. I was like that for most of the night until my fiance pulled me aside and wanted to show me this video. We plan on travelling to Japan relatively soon, and it's what motivates me to push through these tough days. After only a few minutes of watching this video, I was smiling and happy again. You two are just so wholesome. All of your videos put a smile on my face. It's what I watch now to de-stress. Thank you both for these amazing videos.
Anko, anko, anko!!!!! Hooray! So many delicious anko treats! I would love everything you tried on this trip to Jindaiji temple, the savory treats as well as the delicious anko treats. Very nice video. Jindaiji looks absolutely gorgeous. It's hot here, so I wish I could be there in the middle of lush greenery. I loved every bit of this video, your skits in the beginning, your mom's review of the foods you tasted, actually, everything was great, LOL. You guys are phenomenal at what you do and you only get better and better! Great job!
Whoo! Looks like summer is right around the corner!! Japanese summer is the best! Except for the wasps...they are monstrous! Thanks for taking us along this dango and manju feast :D
The snack at 6:43 to 7:04 looks like a meal we have in my country. It is called callaloo bread. It is a loaf stuffed with callaloo and sealed. Sometimes not sealed though. Also our national fruit is stuffed and sealed in a loaf as well . Plus different types of patties. Generally is beef, curried chicken and beef with cheese. They are also lobster and shrimp. But you have to be warned if you have a seafood allegry. Plus some vegeterian restaurants sell pumpkin and callalloo patties too. Definitely anyone who come should at least try one of these. Depends on your tastebuds though .
that is why I want to go to Japan to see all the beautiful landscape and the beautiful trees that you guys have out there especially cherry blossoms and of course your food if you guys have up there that would be amazing I live in the United States I have never been out of the United States and if someday I would like to go to your country I have a friend at his hearing United States that he's front always not really from Japan but he's half Japan and half polish and he's a very good friend and I told him I said if you ever go to Japan take me along with you as I will try I want to see that place I want to see Tokyo and yes you have a very active mama

Thank you so much for this video ! I had kind of forgotten how much I loved Japan, and somehow, you guys reminded me.
that is why I want to go to Japan to see all the beautiful landscape and the beautiful trees that you guys have out there especially cherry blossoms and of course your food if you guys have up there that would be amazing I live in the United States I have never been out of the United States and if someday I would like to go to your country I have a friend at his hearing United States that he's front always not really from Japan but he's half Japan and half polish and he's a very good friend and I told him I said if you ever go to Japan take me along with you as I will try I want to see that place I want to see Tokyo and yes you have a very active mama
