For anyone wondering, there is a cat version of OCD. It's called Pica, and it's mostly associated with cats wanting to eat unusual things. Other behaviors of "cat OCD" are hoarding, repeating behaviors (my friend's cat will lick one spot on the floor for hours if they don't intervene, and she has trouble getting comfortable when she tries to lie down), and being particular about certain things (my cat refuses to use any other cat litter besides Arm and Hammer, and she needs her box VERY clean because she doesn't like to touch the feces and urine in it, and she also spends about ten minutes or more covering her stuff up when she's done using the bathroom). So, yes, it does exist. In Arin's case, it actually sounds more like Mochi has anxiety rather than OCD.
Really? That is fascinating to learn. I also learned the other day that apparently dogs can have cataracts on their eyes I think. But then again dogs and cats can suffer from diseases and such just like humans do 🤷. The dog in question who had the cataracts belongs to an insurance agent my mom saw when paying her insurance bill.
@@TheMeloettaful Yeah, PTSD in abused animals is common, and a lot of anxiety disorders are also very abundant in domestic animals, especially those of the attachment variety. My dog actually is prescribed medication for his anxiety disorder (we think he has some sort of mix of GAD and PTSD from the symptoms he shows; we got him from a pet store that is notorious for using puppy mills and he was traumatized- he was 8 months old and about to be put down if he wasn't adopted soon) and still gets nervous about feet and being bothered when he is sleeping.
@@BlackRosesBloom-Emily_Rose dogs can have phobias too I guess. My old dog Sandy (rip) used to have anxiety really bad. But in particular, she was super scared of the rain and thunder. Trying to run away from the sound one time, she got stuck inside the wall through the fireplace in the middle of the night, and I think they had to call firemen to help her out. She also never wanted to take pills, so we had to sneak her anxiety meds in her favorite treat. Peanut butter dental cookies.

She tends to like men way more and be skittish around women. Luckily the brother kittens we adopted have helped her become friendly and more confident.

1:30 I know exactly what this is like, and it wasn't even something I wanted- though it ended up being something I needed. I moved out, away from my family, to live with my now ex-girlfriend. At the time she had two cats, Gir and Gobi. Gir was a bit aloof, very stoic but still friendly, never afraid of groups. But Gobi... when I moved in, she decided in the first three days "this is my human." She would come when I called her, always wanted affection, would snuggle up to me while I slept, and would never take food from _anyone_ except me (when I treated her). When I broke up with my ex, it was in a circumstance where she'd left both cats behind; so they ended up becoming mine. Gir was the family cat, but Gobi as my baby girl. ... I had to give her up two years ago, after a losing battle with small-cell lymphoma. To date, having to say goodbye to her is one of the most damaging things I've ever experienced emotionally- and I wouldn't god damn _dare_ give up that grief for _anything_ in the world. I got to have her for so many years, to be her best friend in the whole world, and the person who held her in her final moments. Every second with her was a blessing. ... Even if I was slightly allergic. ^_^;
i know what you mean, and it makes sense, i totally get it!! i have ADHD like arin and my cat helps me soooo much with managing it, slowing down, and keeping up with myself. i love dogs with all my heart too, but their energy and behaviour kinda mimic my ADHD and anxiety so it just gets harder to manage. i've learned a lot from my cat 🐈⬛️🖤

Im with dan. My dogs are a little smart but they still watch me walk out the door and get excited five minutes later when i come back as if im back from war.
We used to say my Nana’s late cat had kitty ocd because every day at the same time she would do a certain amount of laps around the dining tables and then switch to doing a certain amount of laps around the kitchen island than she’d lay in her bed.
I just got a kitten and I’m really allergic to him, it’s nice to know that others have grown immunity to their cats, it makes me hopeful that one day I will too!
My friend is allergic to dogs but would come over and at first he couldn’t even stay the day without having breathing problems. And eventually he ended up being totally fine around the dogs, so much so that (long story) he stayed at our house for a full month and had no problems whatsoever.
I soooooo get Mochi and the ass petting while he eats thing. My cat is what her vet calls “a social eater”, so she gets nervous while eating if I’m not there. I suspect it’s because when i was taming her (she was a stray before i adopted her), i would sit with her and watch her to make sure she’d eat it all and be safe while doing it. That eventually turned into me petting her when she eats, and now she’s a permanent social eater.
I love this so much, mochi is a wonderful cat and I love him despite never meeting him. Loving cats is wonderful, your cat looks similar to mine and she is the most important lil fur baby to me, as with mochi to you ^_^ Heave ho was one of the funniest series you played. Allow me to tell you the story of the time my neighbour's cat sat for us. So we just came back from holiday and it was late at night but when we opened the door we could hear voices, at first we thought someone had broken into our house (because there were no lights on) but it was the radio that had been left on. It was only when we went over to the neighbour's house we found out that they left the radio on so our cat wouldn't feel lonely, they also had made a makeshift cardboard house for him in their own home, had cooked him fresh fish and had read him stories at night...I'm still to this day unsure if that cute or slightly creepy 🤷♀️
I love hearing them talk about their pets, like they're living beings but they're so quirky and weird X'D reminds me of when my Dad would go to work and he had a dufflebag with his stuff. he would keep the cat treats with him, the cat opened a dufflebag with a zipper and ate the entire bag of cAT TREATS

My cat craves ass pats in the same way. He'll get somewhere in the house and make the saddest, most pitiful "maow" as if he's in pain, and he just wants ass pats while he eats. He's actually one of those cats that like being spanked, so you can stand there and smack him while he eats, and he'll just purr while going at that bowl like a velociraptor. I will never fully understand cats. He also likes getting in the sink so you can run the faucet on him, so you get the idea.

I used to be so allergic to cats when i was a child that just with a simple brush against the leg the whites of my eyes would swell and i would sneeze non stop. I wanted a cat so bad though, I love them so much. So to maybe distract me from real cats my parents got me an orange tabby build a bear. I still have him but when i was a kid i carried him everywhere. He was my best buddy. But then out of nowhere we went to visit my grandma when i was like 10 and she had a cat that had kittens and ... nothing happened. So finally after a whole life so far being deprived of the wonder of cats i was finally able to get my own. Now I have a rescue that my mom fished out of the trash. His name is Teddy, and just like my childhood kitty bff, he is an orange tabby.

I remember when I had to go to my father's house (because he and my mom were not married, and he strait up left me and my mom in the dirt just to father another family and stick with them.) and he had a LOT of flea ridden dogs, and they didn't think the dogs had fleas, even though I always had extensive flea-bites every night to prove it. God how I hate him still.

Somewhere along 28:16 Is the Mochi flea part. I honestly lost my shit at this, because I am an invasive, blood-sucking insect magnet. I remember when I had to go to my father's house (because he and my mom were not married, and he strait up left me and my mom in the dirt just to father another family and stick with them.) and he had a LOT of flea ridden dogs, and they didn't think the dogs had fleas, even though I always had extensive flea-bites every night to prove it. God how I hate him still.
Im so sorry for this man, I used to live in house where I'd have maybe 10-15 fleas on me every night I grieve and mourn for any child that has to live in those kinds of conditions.
