Thanks Luke, I have the Leaper on my bench for logic/cmos chip testing. I have a Boardmaster 4000 that does alot of other stuff (expensive) ABI do some decent handheld chip testers. Or if you got a good Elnec EPROM programmer they also can test a very good range of logic chips and ram chips
I always got a kick out of that misspelled "Packman" factory sticker. Also pretty rare to see the original custom chips! I've only run into those a couple times. One of them was a cocktail Ms. Pac with all the additional ROMS on the main PCB, and no daughter board. What are you using to test the 2114? Do you have one of the better ROM programmers that can also test various IC's? Looks really handy!
I have an older model Elnec Labprog+ Excellent quality and can test various logic and ram chips too. Yep It seems rare too see the custom chips, but don't forget they were leaving the factory with the daughterboards as well! Not sure if the custom chip came first and the daugherboard was a replacement for it, or if the daughterboards came first and the custom chip was to save money?
arcadeuk From what I can remember, the daughterboards came later due to supply shortage for the custom ships. I don't think they expected Pac/Ms. Pac to be so popular, and had to find a way to keep up with demand. I'm hoping to upgrade my programmer soon, so I'll definitely look into something that doubles as an IC tester. Right now I have an EEtools ChipMax, and it's not quite powerful enough for me anymore. A lot of our newer games have larger ROMS than it can support, and it also needs Windows XP to work.
Check out Elnec (don't buy from ebay - beware of fakes) I highly recommend them. While you programmer is under its support period (several years usually) you can send them sample devices of anything you want them to add support for, that's why they now support a bunch of old arcade rams :)
G'day I have a pcb for a Electrolux dryer that is not working it won't spin the drum when you press start can you repair it? It may be very well the main micro switch on board
Hello, I am just beginning the process of working on a MSPacMan cocktail machine. (never did this before but have some electrical and technical background) Would you be so kind as to tell me how you connected this PCB to a separate monitor like this to test it? Thank you so much. Cheers.
So not to be a dick but whats the point of this video is it suppose to be a tutorial? or what because I have fixed equipment like this for years with an oscilloscope and a lot of tracing wires and I would love to see what program you used to show a chip failing like that that would actually be useful instead of just videos of "Well I fixed it" is there a video with the tools and steps that can actually help? or do I just continue fixing them by checking for stuck outputs?
Why is that? Because I would like to see something helpful instead of just a waste of my time? Come on man Im just honest and saying Im sure what others are thinking so grow up dude. Go troll someone else.

Would be great to see how you tested the faulty rom. I have a Ms. Pac board I am working on soon. Just curious since I have a GQ-4X programmer.
Thanks for the repair Luke! million thumbs up.
Man I'd love to get a Boardmaster but I just can't justify the outlay these days.
Top job anyway!

It is just him showing off a broken board and he fixed it. Not gonna lie but you did sound like a dick in that comment.
