I wish i had this guide 5+ years ago when I was new to guitar. But still very useful even today because i forget a lot of these techniques and just write Ramones songs over and over.
@themeaningsoflivesasacat the only reason I can pull them off is because when I started learning I was obsessed with The Misfits so I forced myself to learn all the misfits songs I could using just downstrokes. But It takes me a while to warm up and if I don't play regularly i get pretty rusty 😂 it's frustrating when I'm feeling lazy and just want to record a riff idea quick but my hand won't work. And it can be kind of limiting too for riff writing
cool video, man! I'm playing in a hardcore punk band myself and was glad to find some useful staff here. special thanks for adding the harmonies part, hope it will help to defeat my struggle to find the right scale to the song 😅
Thanks for sharing the information about all of this stuff man, keep doing this great job 👍 And sorry for my bad english, it's only in progress. I would like to ask you a few questions if u dont mind. Im just a regular non-musician guy with a cheap acoustic guitar from my friend and zero knowledge about it. And 1-st of all, is it make a sense to do my first steps on acoustic? Like a trainer for the beggining. All I can do for now just a few types of powerchords. I think I have some improvment in speed and sound a little bit cleaner, but it's still pretty dirty and slow. For example Agnostic front - victims in pain, I think I can handle it almost at the same speed as the original song but it's sounds like a shit and this annoing "whip-whip" noise 😅. So is it just a normal way of things for acoustic guitar and unskilled player like me and I need just keep practicing ( sure I need), or it's just a waste of time and I need to get electric? Thanks you again.
Video on that coming super soon! Basically I use two plugins: Amplitube + Amped by Stevie T (It's pretty decent actually!). ml-sound-lab.com/products/amped-stevie-t-free
It’s almost like it’s a musical genre… also he’s teaching techniques not how to play- would say use your brain but it’s probably already been rotted by drugs
@@jamesrowland2002 you can be original and do your own thing with these techniques like what- these techniques are tools you can use when making your own music a tool like a hammer. Yk how much you can do with a hammer? A lot more then just making furniture like Oml use your head

Nothing wrong with ramones riffs though (downstrokes are my mortal enemies haha). :)

Nothing more punk than playing the same way as everyone else 🙄

Punk is kind. Spreading knowledge and teaching people is kind.
Literally a video called “the absolute basics” meaning… this is just a starting point to capture the general tone/feel of hardcore music.
Grow up.
