Got one yesterday and love it. Today I’m getting some digital sheet music I want to learn on mandolin but haha can play instantly on the melodica. I think this fun easy-playing and unusual little instrument got me hooked on my greatest passion again. Thanks for your review!
oh my gosh I love melodicas! We have one from Hohner at home and my older kids who take piano lessons are obsessed. They were playing Christmas carols 24/7 last year, haha!
Nice !!! I loved your comparison to the harmonium and the harmonica. Great way to describe it. My younger son is a musician too and he got one so long ago that I actually knew what this was. Lol. You did really well. I like that reverby sound towards the end! Looks well made. Congrats and enjoy !!
Glad you liked it. Ironically, I've wanted a melodica for a long time so it made me really happy. This Eastrock company seems pretty cool. I have one of their snare drum kits on the way. My wife is gonna love that. LOL.
@@MariaCalfaDePaul I've got A LOT of stuff in queue. There's a couple fun DIY projects plus another uke review, some songs, and more. Holy cow I feel overwhelmed. LOL. Good thing I love doing it.
rotate the mouthpiece 180 but actually just use the hose so it's easier for beginners and it's a solo instrument so not meant for chords although they can be played on this with more experience. Sound is pretty good for the price thanks for the video.
Thanks for checking out the video. I've noticed the exact same melodicas, kazoos, lyres, bongos, ukuleles, etc. are often sold with different nameplates. Often they're literally the exact same instrument with a different logo on it. I think the Eastrock/Easttop thing is probably just a coincidence, but I don't doubt these units come from the same supplier.

Awesome! I hope you have a lot of fun with it. They're a lot of fun.

It's a very neat instrument if you can figure out the breathing pattern. I end up getting light headed. LOL.
@@musicalmiscellany that's definitely a danger! 😅

You should get a camping mattress air pump and see it that can work to push air through the instrument.
That's a really good idea! It would be like a simplified fan organ.
Sounds great! Super fun sounding. Wow a spit valve! Glad you got it okay. I always worry about getting packages left in the rain. Ugh.
Yeah. I got lucky. Thanks for watching.
I’m a fellow Texan Melodica player as well!
It's always good to meet a kindred spirit.

Thanks for the tips and also for checking out the video.
Actually it is meant for chords as well. Just same as chromatic harmonica (which this sounds exactly like) you won't need to do chords too much.
Kind of ironic in a way to see this -- the last instrument I bought for my mother was a melodica - she was a good keyboard player. Be back soon
Hi Bob. I hope things are going well for you and your family.
That's interesting!
I’ve actually wanted one for a long time. They’re kinda neat.
You can tell he doesn't play wind instruments especially when he said most clarinets have spit valves when most woodwinds don't have spit valves.
You are correct. I know very little about wind instruments. I'm primarily a string player.
I got the EastTop one instead since they're harmonicas are pretty good and eastrock just seems like a dubious copycat.
