WWthe3rd needs a Symbiote to bond with permanently! same for Kaine Parker, the best clone in fiction, & he needs a Symbiote to bond with permanently. Then Archangel & Kaine can become Tag Team Champs of Da Worldo! Next, form a SuperVillain Squad w/Sabretooth & Juggernaut, led by Mr. Sinister!
Mirage is actually potentially an Omega level mutant back from her New Mutants days way she could actually partially manipulate reality to reflect a person's worst fears. The challenge is she had very little control over her powers so they were suppressed and most writers just didn't know what to do with her unique version of psionics. So now they just reduce her powers to bow and arrows and a psionic rapport with Wolvesbane, but Mirage's powers are so much more than that. I suspected Doug would be the chosen one, because he was perceived as the "weakest" one but I remember how truly dangerous he was when he was resurrected by Selene along with a bunch of other deceased mutants and he took on the entire New Mutants squad by himself, using his ability to read body language and react accordingly - kind of like how Cassandra Cain/Batgirl reads the body language of her opponents and uses martial arts to counteract them. I have to chuckle at how Bei his wife is so proud of seeing Doug "ascended" while Warlock is concerned at his best friend's transformation.
Been a New Mutants Fan since the Asgard Xmen Cross over and i have always been a Cypher fan but since he was in the Mix then you can see he was the all out Favorite. Go Doug

Amazing issue, knowing Cypher history and meaning of Apocalypse, (Ragnorrok, Christian end of world - the Last Judgment, Sam/nsara) and stuff... it fits so well with each other. Also that tease that each of these 4 were facing their Apocalypse's Children's "alter egos", a nice conclusion to this mini-series. I cannot wait what awaits the Revelation. That pic with Bei and Warlock is wholesome. My speculation is that Doug's reins might lead to Phalanx Invason... or prevent it, another is that he can merge his new form with Warlock. I wonder what awaits Bei and 'lock, thanks Bryan
I started off being really skeptical about this mini-series. It felt a little too gimmicky and I was worried it wouldn't have any real impact on post-Krakoa mutants. But I was pleasantly surprised with this one. The winner of Apocalypse Squid Game that we got felt like an unexpected twist that will have actual consequences for the other From The Ashes plotlines. I'm satisfied & looking fwd to seeing what badassery follows from this...

The lineup should have had more mutants that Apocalypse had dealings and/or connections. I knew a lot of them did in some way, but I had hoped to see some more lesser involved mutants. I think Chamber would have been a good contestant to have! Apocalypse is an ancestor of his, and after Chamber was depowered after M-Day, they revealed his connection to Apocalypse! Wasted potential, though!

Especially given that much of the Fall can be traced back to Doug’s deciding to free Nature Girl and more importantly, stopping Mystique and Destiny from just killing Moira before she ran off the Orchis and Nimrod with all mutankind’s secrets and inner workings. And it was Doug’s motion/vote to disband the Quiet Council altogether so… yeah. He can be relied upon to defy and betray as it suits him. With no consequences to him. Frankly, he’s already the villain, in my mind.
In a way, I'm cool with this decision. Doug being chosen allows the other characters to be used in many other stories and series, and can keep Doug off the board and build up a crossover 3 to 4 years down the line.

I don't think he's going to be a villain - maybe more of an antagonist. He'll nudge the X-Men in certain directions as a corrective. Less survival of the fittest more survival of the best fit.
