Thank you for the review. Very informative. Nice work.
Thanks for watching! I am glad you enjoyed it.
This video is excellent ! I threw my instructions out with the box and I’m so happy I found this! Looking forward to checking out your other videos !😊
Thank you so much for clarifying how to change the blade! You just saved our weekend and our project! The instructions weren’t nearly as clear at your video! Love it!
Glad I could help! I appreciate you taking the time to leave this comment and I am glad your project was back on track. Cheers!
I purchased this saw a couple of years back and it is still unopened
but that is about to change. It will be perfect for the deck rebuild that
I will start in just over a week. I purchased an Evolution Power Tools
Miter Saw Stand Plus and look forward to setting everything up
this coming weekend.
I caught it on sale at Lowes for some where around $80 likely due
to the fact that it was scheduled to be discontinued.
Thank you for a wonderful demo. It is done so professionally that this video should come with the Owner's manual as "how to" DVD. Cheers!
Glad it was helpful! thanks for the positive feedback and thanks for watching.
Good editing and simple to follow while you followed the actual manual, step by step.
Something to consider re the depth adjustment feature. Completely removed the threaded piece and wrap it with plumbers tape and add a locking if nut. I know it’s not a Festool super perfect precision miter saw but there no reason it can’t be.
Got the same one for Xmas with the stand from my wife and daughter. Finally going to put it to use next weekend, too much damn snow in Chicago and I hate saw dust in the basement.
Congrats on the new saw and good luck surviving the snow.
Was on the fence regarding this saw and saw your review on the Lowe's site. After your walkthrough I am heading to get this today.
Oh yeah ....great vid man, I am subscribing.
For the money and for my needs, it has been a great saw. I hope you enjoy it as well. Thanks for watching, commenting, and subscribing. I am working on some new videos I hope you will like.
Thanks I just bought this saw I'm trying to cut a stair handrail to match an existing handrail in our house for my wife's father who is ADA. You're giving me confidence as I've never cut anything but my grandfather was a skilled woodworker so I know it's in my blood.
That's awesome Joey. I hope you enjoy the saw, the process, and the final result of your project. Good luck!!!
you're method for determining square requires a board that is square to begin with, i just noticed you didn't point that out, so i did, ,,it drove me nuts butting 2X4 framers that weren't square , and it took a carpenter friend of mine a few secconds to point out that my lumber was kinda twisted and almost all of my framing 2X4 's were like that, now when i do my set up , i use a nice piece of nery square everywhere PVC 5/8 X 3 " trim , it just removes 1 variable in the set up if something does happen to be off a tad
Great and informative video my friend, thanks for letting me know about this one.
Of course. And thank you for watching and taking the time to watch the video. This saw is really serving me well. I attached it to the Ridgid mobile stand and it gets rolled out every time I get to do some woodworking.
Killer beard brother, just got this saw and enjoyed your video walkthrough, thanks posting this!
Saw your review of this saw on the Lowes page. Figured I'd check out your channel. Great job on the review.
Thank you for checking out the video and leaving this comment. I hope it helped.
Thanks for the informative video.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment.
Very good video
I am a first time diy and chose this model bc it is not to big for me. I was worried how it would perform. Thank you for the review and show how to set it up ❤
You’re welcome 😊 I hope the saw performs as well for you as it has for me. I really appreciate you leaving a nice comment.
Awesome video! I've had this saw for years and didn't even know about some of these features! Thank you-- ...also, how many times are you told your voice sounds like Kenny Rogers? haa... Which, to me, is a compliment!
I’ll take that compliment. I have enjoyed my saw and it meets my needs. Blades are cheaper than bigger saws and I don’t have a huge shop to store larger tools. I try to make nice things with the tools I have. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Awesome video Bro
Thanks. I really appreciate it,
Can you show me the adjustments you made to make it square
God bless you.
I was wondering how to unlock the downward handle
Man a few years ago HD and Lowes had these for like $109 (ryobi and kobalt).. now only see em for $189 but saw this Kobalt one marked to $129 for black friday and this seems as good as its gona get. I have tons of different circ saw blades for this just raring to go but my 60t diablo ultra finish blade I got for. A flooring project that never happened is brand new and will pair well with this for some smooth cross cuts
I just bought a 60t blade last week for this saw and it worked great cutting oak for a project. It is a good saw for the money - especially at the price you found. Congrats on your new purchase. I hope you enjoy the saw as much as I have. It meets my needs and my budget. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@@MarriedManWoodworking thanks, I actually have a regular 10" old makita miter saw that was my grandpas but I need just a little more cut capacity and something more mobile.
Commonly $50 used.
Thanks for the solid review and instructions.
Question. Why do you do a quick cut across before going through entirely?
The cutting across without cutting all the way through has two benefits that I am aware. First, it has less chance to tear-out on the top part of the board. Second, and more important, the scoring of the wood on multiple passes prevents almost any chance of the board binding on the blade. WIthout doing this, some boards may try to close on the blade (because of tension in the board).
@@MarriedManWoodworking Makes sense.. I will follow your lead. Appreciate ya.
I am going to get this and change the blade to a type that can cut soft metals.
I hope to cut Aluminum 6061 with it.
Wish me luck - I'm a newbie.
What are you making with the aluminum? Good luck with your project.
@@MarriedManWoodworking
I am building scientific instruments with it or hope to anyways after I've CNC the parts and assembeled it into a machine with electronics.
this is probably not a recomended method ,,,,,,,LOL, that's awesome, you weren't expecting a call from lowes to do advertising rite? lol, i do that too and scarrier, lol
Donde se puede comprar una
I have one. The Lower Blade Guard is broken. If anyone has a source for the replacement, new or used, please reply. I found 2 Model numbers on the Lowes site for the 7-1/4 in Sliding Miter Saw the 9 Amp SM1850LW, and the 10 Amp SM1816LW
im thinking getting this one or the ryobi
I have no personal experience with the Ryobi. This saw has done well for me for the projects I make. If I had a larger budget then I would have bought a larger miter saw but I really have not needed it.
Thank you for the demonstration on how to adjust the saw to cut square! Could not figure it out.
Glad I could help!
Hello. I have a question, please, what size is the Allen key to remove the cutting disc?
I will need to check, but I can't tonight
👏🏽👏🏽👍🏽
This is one good saw. The reason I bought this miter saw was because of its WEIGHT only 26 pounds. I'm too old to carry a 100 lb. miter. Also, this saw works very well.
Definitely a good saw. Thanks
Do you have a video that shows how to replace the blade. I just bought a used one but can't figure out how to change the blade
Why not read the owners manual?
I cover how to change the blade in this video. Watch the entire video and you will find it.
@@wldmike223 it didn't come with a owners manual and the person I bought it from didn't know how to change it for some reason so they couldn't show me
@@MarriedManWoodworking thanks I'll watch through the whole video
I am writing a fictional work which will involve a full day's use of such a saw. There is no need even to be cutting miters -- just cross cuts.
The material will be green oak and pine, fresh from a saw mill, but only one inch thick and nothing wider than 6 inches. This appears to be the saw to write into the story.
Can the trigger be over ridden (taped or wired shut) so that it runs continuously like old-time radial arm saws? All of the cuts will be from patterns, so jigs can be set up.
Any suggestions? I really only mean it to make the work of a handheld skill saw easier and more accurate.
Thanks. Well done.
I don't know of a way to override the trigger. I looked but could not figure out how to accomplish. Good luck with your writing.
@@MarriedManWoodworking Thanks! I imagine that I could simply have the character use some electrician's tape but that would be slow to take off when she wanted it to actually stop. The point I will be wanting to make is that the electric draw of the capacitor every time there is a start, and then, again the power taken up by a brake is not environmentally "sound". I don't own one of these (yet), but could you tell me it one has a brake or does the saw simply wind down?
I very much appreciate your expertise on this saw.
What does writing fictional work have to do with a saw?
Are you cutting up multiple copies of your book to size or something? i.e book making?
The main event is the building of a "pergola pump" in a backyard in the center of Richmond, VA. I describe the building of it in great detail -- how inexpensive it is. MANY more of them are then built. If you would like to get a better idea of what is being built in the fictional work, see ruclips.net/p/PLuJbg6eLC7Y0pDQHd6003eSBEHeEVVudv
@@mrbisse1
You seem to be building some kind of off-the-grid hut in your videos.
I still don't understand what writing fictional work has to do with a saw or a hut for that matter but oh well.
Good luck with your hut, sir.
Great review. Do u still recommend saw
I have been using it on a regular basis and it has served me well. Of course I would like a bigger more expensive saw but I recommend this one. I would also like a dedicated work shop filled with $100,000 worth of tools, but budget keeps me humble. For the money, this saw has served me well. It has stayed in alignment and does what I expected. Thanks for watching and for commenting.
@@MarriedManWoodworking
What kind of budget did you put aside for your workshop and eat do you typically work on?
Btw I manage to get this saw for 120 CAD + tax after some intense online window shopping. That's about 110 US or thereabouts. I found some place where the saw was not selling well because the item's description was Mitre instead of Miter. Lots of customers were missing it in their search at the store's website apparently and it went on sale. Plus I used a $10 coupon which brought the price down some.
@@mth469 I set aside some budget every paycheck for supplies and saving up for tools. I work out of my garage (shared with cars) making a variety of smaller items for family and friends. I like making wooden flags and lazy susans on a regular basis but I have also made french cleet closet systems, solar pool heater, end table dog kennels, countdown calendars, and a variety of other items. I enjoy the challenge of making quality items with limited space, tools, and time. I hope the saw serves you well.
@@MarriedManWoodworking
Sounds like you are quite a wood craftsman.
I'm jumping into metal side of things also on a budget and knowing not too much. I'm powering ahead anyway picking up skills here and there from RUclips videos.
@@mth469 That's awesome. When I can build a shop I would like to learn some welding so I could build my own leg stands for custom tables. Good luck. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy working with wood.
Somebody forgot the pdf link and manual pages.
The pdf link is in the video Description. Here it is pdf.lowes.com/useandcareguides/000999309023_use.pdf
I hope it helps.
