The Warrior 7-1/4" miter saw comes in below the Bauer and Hercules lines at Harbor Freight in their "Good, Better, Best" product hierarchy. (Not sure where the Admiral fits in.) Only time will tell if the Warrior line of budget power tools will replace the Chicago Electric line, which has long been the favorite for cheap miter saws. Is this saw worth the savings versus Ryobi, Wen, Delta Shopmaster, Kobalt and other entry-level brands?

Great review but I noticed a significant lack of those of ursine decent!
Well, getting that blade guard plate off was a real bear, does that count? ;)
@@PhillyFixed I had the same issue on mine so I gave them some "feedback" on that part and apparently it's a known issue and they are already working on a fix.
Just got the saw, issue still exists.
@@PhillyFixedAnyone have any idea how the spring is supposed to be assembled for the blade guard assembly. My father-in-law took it apart on accident and I can only get it to spring load the opposite direction of where it should be going. It doesn't spring down to cover the blade, it goes the other way.
I purchased the Warrior miter saw and found you with instructions for putting it together. Thank you for going through the demonstration. I learned that the 7 1/4" was not going to do the work I needed. I took the Warrior back and bought the Metabo 10". Just got it put together, so tomorrow is the trial to see if the saw will make my project easier and faster. Someone on youtube mentioned women were getting involved in wood projects; I am one of those. I'm the queen of DIYers in almost everything, so I'm hoping my new saw will enlarge my creativity. I'm 75 years old.
I think you'll find the Metabo HPT is a much better saw! Thanks for watching.
I've had one for two years now, and I have to say, it's worked for me. I'm a homeowner, not a contractor. I put in all the molding, and find a bunch of other projects. I learned to always true my blade, but, hey, it's ok.
Thanks for taking the time to do this video. Your review helped me to decide to pass up on this miter saw and look for something else. Thanks again! 👍
Thanks Philly Fixed. I purchased the compound miter saw #57174 this year, 2023. I like the weight, like J. Johnson and several others, I too came to you for clarification with the directions. I think the manufacturer must use the same basic directions for several of their products. I think that might be normal for several tool manufacturers. No problem, now that I understand that this might be the case with a few hiccups. On page 15, there's The Cleaning, Maintenance and Lubrication instructions, I still haven't located whether I need to lubricate and where too, however This is a good little 7 1/4 compound single bevel miter saw. You might need clarification when you get to the part where you must unscrew the bolt holding the instructions to get the blade on. As Philly mentioned there is a small trick. We normally do, "Righty to tighten," however, the bolt was not moving or loosening. So, I called in my adult grandson, and he figured it out, it is "righty to unloosen," and "lefty to tighten the bolt." Also, when you install the saw blade, the blade side with the writing will face away from you or face the right. It seems you want to blade's teeth to cut the wood, smile. As I mentioned, I did not know a few things. This is my first compound bevel miter saw purchase. Once my grandson finished, "Thank you son!" He put the new blade on and left. I did the miter measurements as Philly Fixed suggested to make sure the blade was square etc.; All was good to go! Then I did the test wood cut! It cut with zero issues, so this was good to Go! I recommend this single bevel compound miter saw with a suggestion that folks watch this video or a Warrior Video, [tech help was very nice, however they had a few issues with a few of the directions. I'm a Hobby wood worker, trying to also complete some of my decease husbands wood work, [I gave away all of his saws during my grieving stage], but I did not need a larger 10 or 12 miter saw, I will get my sea legs first using this one, and remember for this miter saw when it comes to the blade installation use the tools but "turn right to loosen the bolt and left to tighten the bolt. Now off to make a set of steps for my Chihuahua's new bunk bed. 😉
Good review 😃👌🏻
I liked that you gave us alternatives at the end, much appreciated!
I appreciate your support of the new channel!
Thank you so much for your instructions. I'm a beginner with power tools so this miter saw will allow me to do some basic decorative trim work. Once i built my confidence level, I'm sure I'll graduate to an intermediate miter saw & beyond. Seriously glad i found your video! Thank you!
I just bought one of these. THANK YOU SO MUCH for this video!!!!!
Thanks, I needed to put the blade on and the tutorial was very good. It works for me because I just need it for crafts. Thanks
Thanks for the review on the saw!
Just bought one.. I came here to make sure I did the setup correct..emm.. I had no set up issues you had..65 yr old woman here.
Hi there! 74 yr. old woman here. Hello there "Wood warrior!" I purchased in 2023 the Warrior 7 1/4 for the size and weight for the small projects I can and will get done around the house. The instructions are pretty basic and could use a little more clarity in the areas that were pointed out by Philly Fixed, however, Philly Fixed aided me in those areas for unlocking the "scale to zero." The techs on the Harbor Freight Help line were pretty nice in the areas I called for assistance on. My husband who introduced me to Harbor Freight Tools, had two compound miter saws and in my grief stage, I gave them both away not knowing that I would later need them to complete work around the house and his cabinets. Anyway, I think the 7 1/4 is a good size for me to begin with. I will return later to update you on its work wear and tear, not expecting any issues, worth the cost.
Great Video! I’ll be Returning my Warrior tomorrow! I’m cutting baseboards, Thought this saw would do the job! After watching your video I now know I better get a 10”! Thanks for Posting.
Great review on the warrior miter saw
I was considering the purchase of this saw and found your review as I was researching it. Truly enjoyed your review and the sarcastic comments which I laughed along with. After seeing your take on it along with some of the comments here, that's not the saw I need, but agree that it would be fine for small trim work. Thanks for the unbiased review!
Thanks for this video; it's a huge help! The manual that came with the saw leaves a lot to be desired. I'm glad I found your video.
Very very helpful for us newbies!!
Thanks
This saw is perfect for jobs with very limited room. We used it for sawing 2x4's for framing, tongue and groove flooring, and molding for an apartment we're building in a very cramped attic space. The footprint is very small and moving it around from one corner to another was easy.
Female here. I have same saw. I had NO Problems getting flange off with a "cheap Harbor Freight" screw driver. Hmmmmmm
Guess the dude at the factory used an impact driver to put it on for mine!
Great tool review
I have the Hitachi 10" and it's a great saw. Great review on the Warrior, glad you found that "Bolt" 😂
Im happy that you did a similar price comparison! Hitachi it is for me!!!
Love your videos man. They’re funny, informative and very entertaining! I guess I got a new channel to binge 👍
Edit: Never mind, I just finished all your videos lol
The channel is only 2 weeks old, I'm working on it! ;)
Made another one for you! ruclips.net/video/CsZmrkUtuRU/видео.html
Thank for the video, nice. Do you think this would be ok to use as a metal cutting chop saw?
Probably not a great choice for metal, but check out the video over on The Den of Tools - ruclips.net/video/S2IjbmrF47U/видео.html
It's the 1960s bossanova intro music for me!!! Love it! :o)
New tool in shop. 7.5" miter saw. With 160 sq ft shop, I get tired of trying to figure out how to crosscut long boards, using my table saw, or by dragging out my 12" miter saw. So, I went to HF and bought the little warrior saw, so I can cut 17 to 24 inch long 2x4 or smaller stock. Test cut a 2" piece of ash, went right thru it. I know HF tools, but I bought the 2 year warranty, so I'm good to go if it breaks.
I like the m12 fuel impact driver in the background
Had to use it to get that damn "bolt" off!
I use mine just to cut small peeler core into firewood. For that it works fine.
Bro youre fuckin hilarious 😭😭😂 subbed .. youre the new source for my cheap tool reviews
Terminology in the manual was misleading, but this video made blade installation so much easier and actually entertaining. Very thorough explanation and assessment of the product. Harbor Fright” should hire you to rewrite their manuals.
Hi, I really appreciate your review on this miter saw. I can't afford very much and I was excited to see how good this one worked. Thank God I got to see it. It was very bad. I won't buy anything until I see reviews.
Thank you.
I believe the Metabo HPT I showed in this vid is on sale for $99 at Lowe's, I would grab that one! Thanks for watching.
Cool video. How about doing one on the Warrior 10" Table Saw?
I'll see what I can do!
Thanks we didn't have any clue using this...and the instructions are very bad. You help a lots
Anyone have any idea how the spring is supposed to be assembled for the blade guard assembly. My father-in-law took it apart on accident and I can only get it to spring load the opposite direction of where it should be going. It doesn't spring down to cover the blade, it goes the other way.
After watching this, I just can’t see using a non-sliding miter saw smaller that 10” unless you’re planning to use it exclusively for small trim work. But even then, it’s iffy.
Cheap tool Tuesday? Why haven't I already subscribed to you?!
Lol and it wasn't even posted on a Tuesday... and I didn't do one yesterday. So I'm off to a great start!!
you didn't like this before you even opened the box, did Harbor Freight do something to you, haha
I just got this saw, I had the same issues as you did, I find installing the blade to be a very sketchy process with the flimsy tools, and there’s no depth stop that I can find
Great review I have the harbor freight and use it for framing it being lightweight Easy to move around is a plus for myself being a woman but angles yeah thats an issue but it’s been going like a champ for 1+ years
I just bought one and trying to put it together now ps I'm putting it in box taking it back
Well I got it as a Christmas gift ...I want to get into diying....and so far it's not easy even for simple projects
This was the perfect demo I needed to see if this was worth purchasing and after watching you definitely helped me make my decision not to! Thank you sir!
What I'm wondering is if I buy good blades does the saw matter that much... I buy Diablo blades, and therefore I feel I would get good cuts whether that blade is on a warrior brand saw or a Dewalt. AM I WRONG?? Seriously, please answer?
Blades do make a huge difference. And, even good saws require calibration out of the box in most cases to get them square and get the miters accurate. The difference between a cheap saw and an expensive saw is precision (after adjusting as best you can, does it stay locked in, have wobble in the mechanism, etc), and of course durability. This saw would be fine for occasional or light duty use, and would do well with a Diablo or Spyder blade, or anything of decent quality.
could have never done it without you
Sorry for the dumb question, but what does the 7 1/4 mean on a miter saw? Thanks
Hi, 7-1/4 refers to the size of the blade in inches.
I know this comment it 10 months after you posted this video but I just bought this saw and I'm a novice when it comes to the type of blade I would need for this saw. Could anyone please leave a link to a blade that would work for this saw. I've done so much research and I'm so confused.
Hi, for general use I would recommend a 40-tooth blade. You can make clean cuts for trim and finish work, but still cut 2x4's for framing type stuff if you want. More teeth = slower, but cleaner cuts. Fewer teeth = faster, but rougher cuts. A 7-1/4" framing blade has 24 teeth, for example. Thanks for watching!
Well I got a saw the other day like that an it said 24t why u using different
A small saw like this is good for trim work and you'd want a fine finish blade for that.
Thanks. You just saved me some disappointment. I now know I have to get a 10 inch saw. Not 7 1/4". For those who scoff, you really don't know what it's like to be at the bottom. It really is hard to climb out of a financial hole. Cheap is better than none.
Check out the Metabo HPT C10FCGS for sure!
Great review, You helped me decide against buying this saw.
Having such a hard time setting our saw up right now. It’s almost like the black bolt where you’re suppose to put that two tong object in is slightly off center so it’s blocking the hole ever so slightly…. Help! Lol
Yup, that sounds about right. It's not great 🫤
@@PhillyFixedfunny enough we were able to make it work lol, just had to use a needle nose and some power strength. Your video helped a lot! It’s a cheapo but gets the job of cutting some laminate done.
😂 love the bolt 😊
Should have used an impact driver on that screw from the start
Check out 6:31 ;)
Sir just found your channel and wanted to say you've definetly got my sub. Keep up the great reviews been binging them through the night at work! Sidenote: please keep reviewing "cheaper" tools. Awesome to see when I can not have to go big name brand
Welcome, thanks for watching!
Just bought it and you making me take it back lol
Haha, it's fine for small projects. I was being intentionally snarky here, but for occasional DIY use I wouldn't rush to return it. On the other hand, you can typically find the Metabo HPT C10FCGS 10" miter saw for just a bit more on Amazon or at Lowes for around $120.
Great review. Good way to point out how much better good tools are. Expecting to see some videos on the Milwaukee tools you have floating around.
Keep it up.
I have some M12 stuff, I'll do my take on them soon! I just bought some used M18 for the Flex comparisons, but I feel like M18 has been reviewed to death. Thoughts?
@@PhillyFixed
Yes and no. Milwaukee is constantly coming out with new stuff and it really depends who is doing the reviews. I personally can’t stand VCG. Someone like ManCaver Tools is so Non-technical that I find the reviews useless. On the other hand I find Shop Tool Reviews to be to technical. So far you seem to have found that sweet spot that ppl enjoy. If you do your take on Milwaukee ppl will watch.
@@derekbross6958 This is great feedback, Derek. Thanks for taking the time to comment!
buys $60 saw
requires $200 fuel impact driver to install blade.
You should have used a HF impact on it.
Interesting how it can't cut a 45 straight up and down with a 2x4 when it's at 0 it cuts the 2x4 fine in the straight up and down. Position
That's the same with all non-slider 7-1/4" miter saws, as far as I know.
@@PhillyFixed you would think it would cut the same no matter what the blade up and down motion doesn't change whether it is 45 or 0 degree but I could nit be thinking of everything I love my 12 inch so I normally don't buy smaller saws
That was very funny. And that considering that I don't speak English.
I had it for approximately six months, barely used it and the guard shattered. Used for just simple 'around the house jobs'. I have regrets. I'll attempt to contact the manufacturer however, I don't expect a satisfying resolution based on the comments below regarding the safety blade. Thanks for the feedback below everyone.
15% off at checkout right now on the Metabo HPT, brings it down to $102: amzn.to/3V5E5Jf
A. Very helpful video! Especially the consideration of not being able to do a 45d angle. As a noob, I probably wouldn't have considered that.
B. Am I the only one that RUclips is blurring the logo for? It blurs "It's always busted in" but then leaves "Philadelphia" un-blurred...
I always wondered if my Milwaukee 7 inch was overpriced. After watching this, not so much
Anviti blade is a pretty good blade
The guard plate screw wouldn't come off for me either so i wacked the guard plate with a chisel and WD-40'd it until the plate slid away from the screw.😁
Gump ! You are a goddam genius 👏
Wow at the spanner wrench is this a angle grinder and not a miter saw lol
I’m only watching this video right now because I can’t remember how to put it back in the box 😭😂😂
Turns out it was left 45° not right 45° 😂
Hahaha you're lucky I included an unboxing!
@@PhillyFixed yessirrr thank you 🙏
Thanks. You just saved me $99
What happened with the name change?
Someone with more experience than me gave me some hard-earned advice on toying with big media comapanies... haha. I assume you know the show I was referring to with my channel name.
@@PhillyFixed yeah, you probably would have won in court, but they could cost you a small fortune first.
Every tool for the right job. A 7.25 mitre is going to have more torque for a given motor power rating, and spin slower for more control. A lack of a slide is giving up utility for more precise control. This one has low power and slop, so that kinda makes it junk even for its narrow focus.
Its v nice to have lots of disposable fash to buy expensive tools to use once in a blue moon. But if you are scrappingby and got a miter saw fr Harbor Frieght, maybe the video review will sound ALOT diffrnt.
Metabo HPT is a much better saw for $10-20 more.
I tried to cut a 2x4 and my whole garage was smoking
Imagine charlie trying to read the manual lol
"The guard saw is blade stuck installation hard..." - Charlie
@@PhillyFixed lol!! Sounds about right
Hey, no offense, but that scene of you not understanding the picture of the bolt, just two inches away, says more about you than the tool. By the way, both bolts and screws can have phillips head. This is a bolt, not a screw, because it holds in metal thread.
I've always known them as machine screws.
Bolts can have a Phillips head lol, bolt has more to do with the thread than the head.
Right, this would be a "machine screw" where I'm from...
Lmfao upper crust shopper
LOL these HF so called brands are funny, i mean really what diff does it make? LOL as if they're competitors against each other
Lmfao so much tape like there compensating for the quality of the tool surprised there wasn't more foam
Well, this is $100.00 now and I thought it seemed like a solid deal. Glad I looked up a video review first. Made my decision to NOT buy this POS within the first few minutes lol.
Get that Metabo HPT saw instead!
you would have been better off going Walmart and buying Hart Miter Saw , cheaper and easy to change blades...good luck
Yeah, the Hart didn't go on promo until a couple months after this came out. I didn't end up keeping this saw though. Thanks for watching!
Why would anyone own a miter saw that small. Maybe if your just cutting 2x4s
Great video, but a don’t buy that thing hahaha
Cheap tools that will be lost in a day or so
The Hitachi saw is a great deal at that price. I paid $169 for the same model, but with a laser two years ago. It’s powerful, well made and accurate. Anyone dead set on a 7” miter saw should look for a slider to compensate for thick work pieces and 45 degree cuts, as mentioned in the review. Nice job!
You guys complaining way too much for a $99 saw 😂. Then go buy a Dewalt or makita problem solved
The biggest issue I see is your lack of ability to read instructions, and listed limits of the saw before purchase
Bought this yesterday returned it today. Complete garbage, it burnt the wood then proceeded to burn the motor. DO NOT BUY, Ryobi is $110 and it comes with the blade.
Just out of curiosity, what blade were you using? This saw isn't great but I'd expect more out of it than that unless you got a dud 🤷♂️
Sorry dude, I already knew how to operate that saw just by looking at it when you pulled it out of the box. Seriously, you were looking for a knob to change the angle?? You could not see the circular platform to change the angle?? You don't have a mechanical mind, therefore you will have problems. Sorry
1. There's literally a knob.
2. Sarcasm is lost on you, therefore you will have problems, sorry.
I’m really glad I’m not you.
Cool story
That thing is junk my friend get yourself a 10 inch
Harbor Freight no habla Inglés. No es bueno
