I picked up the 7 1/4 in Hart miter saw this morning for 54.00 f I was surprised to find one because when the bear first announced it I check Walmart’s and they had none. Went this morning and seen the only one one the shelf so I grabbed it. Thanks Bear!!!
I’m a master plumber in CT. I use the steal demon blade on my Milwaukee rear handle circular saw to cut black iron pipe. Iv cut up to 2” and I’m sure it will cut bigger. Faster, cleaner cut than a tubing cutter.
We have run those Metabo (Hitachi) 10 inch miter saws for several years, professionally, 40 hours a week. They run forever and stay true. Hitachi is about all we use now.
I tried a Diablo Steel Demon on my Hart. Cut 10 pieces of 2x2x0.125 square tubing before it dulled. Throws lots of sparks. Replaced the blade and now running a speed control provides a better cut with no sparks. Time will tell how long it lasts, but it seems much improved.
Yup, after watching enough project farm comparisons I've set my mental default to Diablo for blades, they might not always be THE best, but they're always in the top tier and cheaper than the absolute best by a significant margin. It also helps that they're sold like everywhere so no matter what kind of hardware store I'm in there's a good chance they'll have Diablo.
The Diablo steel demon is one of my most coveted circular saw blades. I hold it in the highest regard and keep it in a lock box separate from the other pish posh.
I just bought this Warrior miter saw and saw exactly what you talked about. I also bought a Bauer 7 1/4 24T saw blade for the saw and it was a bit too thick to safely hold the blade on. Then when I tried the saw out it was as if it wasn't plugged in, no power at all. I took it back and exchanged it for another one and that one worked but with the same blade thickness problem. The manager of the HFT store I go to is a friend of mine and I told him about the blade thickness issue. He told me to go ahead and grind down the ring and if I had any problems just let him know and he would replace it. Thank you for this video very much as well as all the videos you put out!
I've been using the steel/aluminum Demon blades on my 7¼" black and decker ($65 Wal-Mart special) for over a year now. Great for the home enthusiast that doesn't have the room, or need for a giant 14" cold cut saw. (Not to mention $30 blades vs $90+ 14" blades) Yes, the blade is why it works.... And yes, as you mentioned, the only reason you normally don't use steel cold cutting blades on other saws is rotational speed parameters, but the 7¼" Steel Demon blade is designed to be used at standard 7¼" saw speeds. It's made to use in a regular 7¼" circular saw, not just metal cutting saws.
Quite impressive. I wouldn't have expected the Diablo to be able to handle that thickness of steel. I thought those blades were designed for things like metal 2x4 studs. A close-up on the blade's teeth after this would be interesting. I'm surprised it didn't lose any at that surface speed. 5,000 RPM by 7-1/4 in works out to over 9,000 surface feet per minute, which is astonishingly high. Cutting steel with carbide. I usually run in the 300 to 500 SFPM range. Certainly a faster cut than what I get from my horizontal band saw! What color were the chips? You can get a good idea of how hot they maxed out at from the color. The deep blue color works out to be about 600°F IIRC.
I have the Ryobi cordless 7.25 miter saw and it is a great compliment to my 12 inch chicago electric. With the 9Ah battery my little one is great for the kind of stuff I do, mostly pallet wood. I got it refurbished and cost me a little over $100…
Just bought this little beast, with the wife's approval. Glad I did. Extremely portable little trim saw. The only thing that scares me about this saw is that the wife wants to use it and use it solo! I have already modified the front of it with a handle from a ryobi battery opperated hammer drill, which caught on fire while using. Now turning the table seems normal.
15 years ago my wife bought me a $99 10” Delta compound miter saw as a birthday present when we could barely scrape 2 pennies together. It met all my needs until I was finally really ready to upgrade last year. Know your equipment and you can produce quality.
Ha Michael! I think my Wife bought me the same Delta Miter Saw about 20 years ago. It’s a light gray color. I still have that saw. Last year my Wife upgraded me...I’m doing a lot of trim work, so for my birthday she got me a Milwaukee M18 Fuel 7 1/4” Dual Bevel Miter Saw. What a nice saw! It can actually cut larger boards than the Delta 10”!
I got the Hart because it is lighter and more portable than my dinosaur 10”. I’m actually going to use the combo of the Hart saw & table with a 2 gallon shop bag for a quick repair at my son’s house this weekend.
I have been running the 7 1/4 Diablo Steel Demon 48 carbide tooth blade on my 10” Craftsman Miter saw with a washer to shim the blade out and raised the work surface with a piece of 2x6 to account for the smaller blade size and it works great. The RPM’s would be to high to run the 10” Steel Demon blade with this saw. I contacted Harbor Freight about selling a saw similar to the Evolution that would have the correct rpm’s, arbor size and torque for the bigger blades. GET THE DEEP FREIGHT ON IT!
You know, last week I saw a commercial for HFT, and having never seen a commercial from them before, I began to worry they were trying to break into a higher class of tool store and stop being themselves. Glad to see they are still selling shit, haha.
Thank you! I've been debating one of those Diablo blades. Great demo ! ah hem, I mean, I would never do the dangerous thing that you did... but just in case. :)
Look at those fancy speed holes in the Bauer blades. Fancy! Man, I do wish they had those little Hart saws near me. My workshop is dirty and all the way at the back of the yard, would be nice to have a little saw to sling around up by the house and garage. Well, will just have to watch for the next deal.
Jeff, when you first mentioned the Hart 7 1/4" Miter Saw was on clearance for $54 I took your advice and went to my local Walmart even though the website stated that it was out of stock. Around the corner from the Hart power tools I found two. They were not marked as clearance so scooped one up and the $54 came up at the self check out. The next day I went to see if the other one was there but it was gone. At least I have one and I'm happy as a cub! Thanks so much!
Next the craftsman 7 1/4 sliding battery saw please! Like seriously tho cause I’m trying to decide if it would be a good saw to buy to sacrifice to the laminate flooring gods so I don’t have to destroy my Milwaukee
That 10 inch Metabo around Christmas was $80 to $89 at Lowes, picked one up :) Love it. Another steal if you can find it (good luck) is the 9amp 7 1/4 inch Kobalt for $47, they went to a 10 amp version and closed it out but have not seen one in a store since Christmas before they went down to $47. I picked up the Hart for $54 for a family member (I already had the Kobalt 7 1/4) nice looking little saw but only a few Walmarts still have them at that price.
I was cutting a piece of wood on my Jawhorse and accidentally cut into the slide and frame before I realized what was going on. I had a DeWalt carbide blade on my saw and it didn't seem to dull the blade. Good thing I noticed a few sparks before I cut too far into it.
I've got my eye on a Delta 10" Shopmaster single bevel compound miter saw on Amazon for around $135. It's got a laser too, but mainly because I have the folding stand that came with my 2005 model 10" Shopmaster.
Funny this came up now as I have wanted a cold cut saw for months now. The Evolution is too expensive and I had thought of getting a cheap miter saw to do as you did but did not think the rpm was compatible. This has me re-thinking and regretting not getting the Hart to do it with. Safety 3rd!
I saw this bad boy in hf last night and omg I couldn't believe how small and cute it is lmao. I love it. The wife and I always joke about our kitten (Molly) being my helper in the shop and I said to her it's "Molly sized" lol
Amazing.. I have repurposed an old 'Workforce' brand 10" miter saw for my metal fabrication. I originally bought a 7 1/4" Diablo Steel demon as that's all they had, but I did see a 10" exists. The only problem I have run in to.. clamping. I once tried to nip a small piece of tubing without clamping, will NEVER do that again. I am lucky to be alive, the piece went out the back and straight thru my fan. My question to others out there: When cutting metal on a miter, do I need to clamp both sides of the work down? I have always been clamping the waste side and work side, but of course this causes some issues with small pieces. I don't dare trim or cut small stuff, which is wasting pieces now. However I see people not clamping the waste side. I don't see a reason to clamp the waste side anymore, but obviously the work side is well clamped. Edit - After seeing you hold down the metal with your hand.. OH MAN CAUTION!!!! I find creative ways to clamp it down.. obviously you were just testing things, but when the saw blade kicked my piece out, the blade caught the work and BOOM, just GONE.
I've heard great things about the Diablo steel cutting blades. A cost effective alternative is of course the metal cutting band saw, e.g., Ryobi, Bauer etc for a few sheckles more
Metal bandsaw is actually more expensive. The Bauer is $125 and a metal blade will run you about $15. This setup is $90 for the saw and $25 for the blade. And it's easier to cut a solid 90 degrees with the miter saw. I have the Bauer and it's a fantastic saw, I just wish there was a cost effective stand to convert it to a horizontal saw.
Do you dread getting your chop saw out, moving it, or putting it away? I have had my Lowes Kobalt 7-1/4" sliding miter saw for a few years now and really like it. The sliding feature allows it to cut a 2x8 with ease. I used to have a large 10 1/2" chop saw that was a pain to use. It was big, heavy and very awkward to carry and store so I dreaded getting it out and using it. After a friend abused it, I replaced it with the smaller saw. The blade/motor can lock in the down position so it fits nicely on a 2' x 2' x 1' tall shelf and is not too heavy. Easy enough to pull out and setup that I will bring it out to cut two or three boards. Unless you are cutting a lot of really big lumber, I would strongly recommend this smaller saw. Compact, easy to setup, easy to put away. And it was inexpensive. $120 or so. Lowes also has a 24v version at twice the price.
Most people who try cutting steel on a chop saw use a fan speed controller. Mine is a 15 a unit - just enough, and it slows the speed probably close to whats needed.
I put a Diablo Steel Demon on my ryobi 7-1/4" miter saw and didn't have any problems with it fitting. Not sure what is going on with the harbor freight. If harbor freight would take a clue and make a dedicated 7-1/4" metal cutting saw specifically designed to use a carbide blade, they could be onto something.
I really wish somebody would come out with a 7 1/⁴ table saw, a trim carpenter I worked with about 25 years ago had this little Craftsman 7 1/4 table saw it was great for ripping jambs and interior work. There was nothing fancy about it but man it was handy.
@@timan206 yeah we had two of those, they were the first real job site table saw I can remember. We would go thru brushes and a switch every once in a while but those little Makitas would rip through treated lumber like it was no body's business.
@@timan206 yeah I was gonna pick up one of those too, they looked well built but dainty at the same time.Well by the time I got around to it they disappeared.
I'm fairly certain that the reasons you're not supposed to use this type of saw for cutting steel are... 1) The sparks might cause the plastic guards to melt. 2) The plastic guards can't contain the "shrapnel" if the blade was to shatter. 3) They're afraid that people won't take the dust bag off and the sparks will cause a fire. Years ago, I used to use a cheap (all plastic) Black and Decker 7 1/4" circular saw with an abrasive blade to cut steel all the time. I never had any issues but it wasn't the smartest thing I ever did either!
Hey Bear!; Thank you for all you do. Can you do a video RE: "How good (or bad) are the Walmart & Hart tools"? I need a vise so I'm thinking, maybe an Olympia 38-604 4" Vise at Walmart? Does Hart have a vise? If they do, I don't know if they're any good. But I don't trust Walmart, ya' know? I looked at the Harbor Freight Central Forge 3" but the Olympia is cheaper. The best price may be the Olympia 38-603 3" Clamp-on vise for $17. I'm on disability so I have to pinch Abe & company pretty hard. I have a couple of projects that I'm trying to finish before I get too sick. [I'm 65, & have COPD & asbestosis so it is just a matter of time.] I have a angle grinder, cordless drill, jig saw, sabre saw, & skill saw. I'm asking because I trust you to tell it like it is, Bear. Have a GREAT day, Neighbor!
I remember Kobalt and Ryobi had 7 1/4 sliding miter saws last year for $100. Wish i woulda jumped on it.. Ive seen demos of the diablo steel demon and that blade is a beast
I think people don't realize metabo is what used to be hitachi after it was sold. Oddly enough they kept the name in some countries and didn't in others.
Can you cut steel with the HB ten inch miter saw? I bought the two inch cutter but don't like it and hoped I could use my miter saw for the job of cutting steel
Do you guys in USA have Evolution saws? We got a Evolution mitre saw , their m.o is their blades are Japanese steel. And they cut steel ,alloy ,wood , all rounder . Their middle range quality. But it's new and the small retaining shafts that lock the mitre movements have fallen out and got lost now. 1st day of use it stunk of burning carbon. And the table which turns to 45' got stuck. Pooh
I'm cutting 1 inch corner trim andi can't lock it down when I switch side/angles. Attachment obstructs blade guard on left and motor on right. If it was a deeper width I could pull attachment towards me and at that angle its fine but not always possible. I tried holding it and so did a carpenter friend and it works most of the time but the occasionally a piece will just shred and blow up. I'm not confident with saw and I want to clamp and not use my hands. Is there something I'm missing? Thanks.
Got a craftsman 7.25 Its cut more metal than anything LOL. Its so trashed though. It will no longer rotate due to all the metal bits down in it. Plus that plastic insert in the middle is melted gone LOL
@@timan206 that saw was one of the finest saws ever made,I keep my eyes out for a used one on eBay,but I just can't come across one in good shape and the new ones are just a shadow of what the old ones were
@@timan206 I don't know if we are talking about the same saw,but I worked with a guy and his was a slider. My god the bearings floated on the rail, the numbers matched the angles exactly and the blade had zero chatter at all.And if I remember right it cut thicker and wider than any other saw in it's class. It was just a pleasure to use.I was just a kid and didn't have the skills or the money to buy one,and it seems as my skills and money got right they stop making them,at least like that and I have up that professionan years ago,but I still dabble and I still love tools.
They're just a different class, the Evolution are just the most popular or something. Commonly called a "dry cut" saw (or maybe a cold saw?). Usually they're geared down for more torque and lower rpm.

Hey Bear!;
Thank you for all you do.
[I'm 65, & have COPD & asbestosis so it is just a matter of time.]
I have a angle grinder, cordless drill, jig saw, sabre saw, & skill saw.
I'm asking because I trust you to tell it like it is, Bear.
Have a GREAT day, Neighbor!
Tool bear!!! Best way to use to you under $20 harbor freight 30% members only coupon?
I remember Kobalt and Ryobi had 7 1/4 sliding miter saws last year for $100. Wish i woulda jumped on it..
Ive seen demos of the diablo steel demon and that blade is a beast
The only thing I have notice with my Hart saw, with it clamped to the table as shown, it won't swivel to 45° , it hits the clamp.
The metal chips contain most of the heat generated using these blades.
would have been a cool test with the 40 teefesses bauer blade and the angle irons
Jeff: if you do this you’re an idiot.
Idiots: hold my white claw
I see my people are here 😂
@@denoftools 🤣🤣🤣
Nice😂🥃
How come the bear doesn't have fur on his paws when he's running the saw?
Great video. Thanks
That looked like it cut pretty good! The new carbide steel cutting blades are pretty amazing.
So how many cuts did that Diablo blade get on that saw?
Too small. Like the Diablo blade! Of course, I would NEVER use it on such a saw. 😱
Three blades, impressive. At this price I'd expect "blade not included" or the blade to be really bad.
Cut a nail once with no issues in a 2x4.
Um, no. Blades are NOT included. They sent me those blades for testing. Sorry for the confusion.
I will most certainly NEVER 🙄 try this at home 😜
Good idea! See you at the Emergency Room! 👋
How do you change the warrior from 45 degrees to 90 degrees?
Red fantastic thank you appreciate the content
I think people don't realize metabo is what used to be hitachi after it was sold. Oddly enough they kept the name in some countries and didn't in others.
Can you cut steel with the HB ten inch miter saw? I bought the two inch cutter but don't like it and hoped I could use my miter saw for the job of cutting steel
Can this cut through a 5 1/4 inch crown molding??
Would that blade last cutting metal bed frames?
Do you guys in USA have Evolution saws?
We got a Evolution mitre saw , their m.o is their blades are Japanese steel. And they cut steel ,alloy ,wood , all rounder .
Their middle range quality. But it's new and the small retaining shafts that lock the mitre movements have fallen out and got lost now.
1st day of use it stunk of burning carbon.
And the table which turns to 45' got stuck.
Pooh
I cut a lot of quick angle iron. I would never try this. I just bought one. Very convenient.
Thanks.
Over time i hear that the saw arm will twist to the right from use compared to the pistol grip type
Void the warranty? Wait 91 days.
That is awesome!
Here i am, listening to the wise words of a talking bear! something is wrong with me .... people!!! LOL
Got a craftsman 7.25 Its cut more metal than anything LOL. Its so trashed though. It will no longer rotate due to all the metal bits down in it. Plus that plastic insert in the middle is melted gone LOL
I've seen that metabo on sale at lowes for 79-89 bucks
can you test the wen 2 speed miter saw
I'll stick with my Worx battery miter saw, even though it cost a lot more, I got it with a discount, tool only for $179
The evolution blade would be better for that saw, and could be used without the flange modification
I would like a small double bevel for molding work but the smaller saws all appear to be single bevel.
Now those DO NOT BUY BLADES and saws are probably sold out. LOL
Seriously that's a great little rig with that blade.
Is this not allowed ?
Still got mine, cost $35 about 16 years ago
Is the Evolution the only toothed saw that is recommended for metal? If not, which saws are recommended?
They're just a different class, the Evolution are just the most popular or something. Commonly called a "dry cut" saw (or maybe a cold saw?). Usually they're geared down for more torque and lower rpm.
@@rpavlik1 Thanks, any recommended brands?
69.99 on inside track now
What blade for general home use?
Yarghh I was gonna post a review, you beat me to it! :)
Post it and send me a link. I'll post it on the community page!
@@denoftools Will do! I'm ramping up my new RUclips channel. I want to have a bunch of videos tee'd up in the queue. Will be home projects but some tool reviews, as well.
The Kobalt 7 1/4" Dual Bevel Sliding Compound Cordless Miter Saw PLEASE.
I have it that Kobalt, although it has fallen apart in areas its still working. What I dislike about the Kobalt is it has an oversized platform. It is very hard to get in and out of my side truck cap door. The previous small one Kobalt had was awesome. Just got this one.today. $79
I think I'll pass on that one. Thanks for the review!
Hi
Thanks for this! I'm definitely not going to try it 😉😉😉
Terrifying and impressive
bear you scared me cutting iron angle on a wood saw, very stupid to even try get a portaband. Shine on bear.
I've been told for a long time that I'm a moron... How did you become certified?
That was a 10"for $134?
I am so glad you told me what not to do so that nobody would do that.
👍🤣👍😂👍🤪👍😆👍 !!
Wow the motor is louder than the steel being cut ...I like my hearing better than spending 89🤑
If you're not wearing hearing protection with any power tools you're asking to go deaf. always use hearing and eye protection.
@@pt4242 obviously, but my point was the motor wine was louder than the pitch of the steel being cut and I personally have cut angle iron working at a sign shop it's terrible 🤣
😂😂😂😂😂 love it! Entertainment purposes only!!! 😉
😂😂 I love it!
Still like my 10 ryobi
