How GOOD Was Mike Miller Actually?

  • I normally make these videos about former all-stars, not role players. However, Mike Miller had quite the interesting career and at one point, he certainly looked like he could be a star. But nowadays, he's more remembered for his role on the Miami Heat when he played with LeBron.
I make all kinds of NBA videos which include analysis, player stories, countdowns, and mysteries. Make sure to leave a like and subscribe if you enjoyed this video!

    Great episode!
Most all-stars had MUCH smaller careers than Miller. 17-year career, 6th man, ROY, 2 time champ + 4 time conference champ, and 10 playoff appearances, with record for 3s off the bench in the finals.
One of the best careers of the first 20 years of the century.

My grandparents have a business that worked with the grizzlies. All of the grizzlies players were always nice to my family when we conducted services for the team. Mike actually helped me with a school project when I was in the 8th grade. It was a video assignment on how to market products, and I asked my grandparents if any of the players would be interested in helping me, they only asked a few players they had somewhat of a personal connection with, and Mike was one of the deep connections. Mikes uncle set up for Mike to be in my little commercial video, it was Nike socks. Mike was so nice to me and my friend who I did the assignment with. Mikes uncle did ask that I not share the video with anyone as Mike had no Nike deal at the time. Mikes uncle really took a liking to me and he took the time to remember my name, as when he’d see me at the games and in that little lounge the fedex forum had, he would come to me and shake my hand. His uncle also always made sure that when he would see me, to get Mike to come over and sign something for me or take a photo. Mike and his uncle were really cool to me and my family. I wish this new Memphis team was as humble as guys like Mike Miller, Marc Gasol, and Zbo.

My favourite NBA hypothetical is where Vancouver Grizzlies did not end up trading for Otis Thorpe for a lottery protected 2003 pick which would have turned into LeBron James. And he ends up playing with Mike Miller, Shane Battier, and Pau Gasol as his teammates in Memphis Grizzlies, instead of Zydrunas Ilgauskus. No hate to Big Z tho. But those pre Grit and Grind era Grizzlies could have used a superstar like LeBron. That is one insanely nasty team with Pau and Bron leading the paint and Shane Battier and Mike Miller on the perimeter for shooting. Shane Battier was the ideal 3 and D guy with an incredible perspective on analytics and studying the game could have been wild if you think about it.

Mike Miller was just a beast. He wasn't an all star but he could be the best 3rd or 4th option or 6th man from the bench on any team. He was like an all round player that could fit any team. Tall, average defense at worst, great shot from anywhere, could play inside or outside and I think he could play some SG and both forwards position if needed (at the time PF were still mostly low post players but he could fill the role for a limited time, think Rasheed Wallace like player but his best position was small forward). I thought the Magic would keep him before he was traded. When he went to the Heat I always thought the league was over because he and Battier could fill many holes on the court for the Heatles to shine.

The poor Magic are always in a transitional period😂. Then they get a phenomenal player from the draft, develop him & then he leaves for greener pastures. But Mike Miller was nice! I remember watching him on the Magic & he also carried the 2000 Florida Gators to the Natty before losing to Michigan State.

I'm from the Shaq and Penny Era. Always been a Magic fan, always will be. Mike Miller was MY GUY when it was just him and T-Mac in Orlando. Him, Mac, Pat Garrity and Steven Hunter used to hold it down on 2K2. I think Jameer Nelson was running the point, or was it Jarel Sassier or some shit?? Am I making that name up??

Somebody should do a career sim of Mike Miller as a consistent starter. This video tells me that he could've been so much more than he was allowed to show. I still remember Mike Breen saying, "Bang!" for every 3 Miller made in Game 5 in 2012.
