I just absolutely adore your reactions to Star Wars. The two of you represent exactly what watching Star Wars is supposed to be!!! It’s supposed to be FUN! Sometimes we forget as long time or lifelong Star Wars fans that the purpose has always been to have fun! Not worry about every detail and plot point etc. it’s fine to discuss those things but sometimes we miss the forest for the trees. Thank you so much for these reactions and may the force be with you!!!

Yeah also Obi Wan was sure he killed Anakin for years until he found out now that he survived. And he is now more connected to the force than he ever was during the clone wars and does the opposite and follows the Jedi teachings instead. Vader was already beaten and Jedi do not kill prisoners or already beaten foes. So he stayed true to the ways of the Jedi and shows that he now is an even greater Jedi than ever before. Also his plan was to lure Vader away from the resistance and did succeed in that.
Also Reva knew she had fucked up her chance at killing Vader and would likely never get another so the only revenge she could think of was to kill his offsprings and get some kind of revenge that way until she realised she was about to do exactly the same thing Vader did to all her friends at the temple and the reason she wanted him dead in the first place

Anakin returns for just long enough to give Obi-Wan peace of mind. "I am not your failure, Obi-Wan". He tells him that Vader was his choice and not because of any failure on Obi-Wans part. That exchange between them was amazing and brought tears to my eyes.

I don't think it was to make obi wan feel better, I think it was a taunt, telling obi wan he wasn't strong enough to kill Anakin, only he himself was. Darth Vader isn't really in the business of giving people solace.

@@StillbornGravity I don’t think it was solace or a taunt. I think Vader was honestly angered and a bit annoyed that Obi-Wan saw him as the result of failure and therefore a failure himself. I took it as him cracking and just instinctively making Obi-Wan feel better too.
I know Vader is a scumbag and _pretends_ to not be Anakin Skywalker... But that's bullshit nonsense. He IS and ALWAYS will be... Them being separate is just something he and Palpatine say. For Anakin, so he can justify all of the horror he caused in Episode III(I'm guessing killing Younglings and Padme MOSTLY).... And then for Palpatine, as a form of control over Anakin/Vader.
I think he slipped, said that to Obi-Wan, then tried to recover his facade with the rest, like smiling when he said HE killed Anakin.
But I mean.... It doesn't matter. _Head Canon_ is like... At least a fourth of the fun of Star Wars.

I think Obi left Vader because he knew he was beaten, just as he did on Mustafar. After speaking with Anakin/Vader, he realizes that he has done what he needed to do. Vader was defeated, shown that Obi is still the master. I also believe that Obi was not fully prepared to kill Vader. As evil as he is, obi still sees anakin. He apologized, accepted anakin is buried too deep, and walked away from him, one final time. Amazing episode

      good thoughts indeed

    • @matthewshelbourne9560
      @matthewshelbourne9560 2 года назад +3

Yes Obi-Wan apologized, but I actually believe that the Vader basically told Obi-Wan that he had no reason to apologize as he was not to blame for his turning to the dark side, that he and he alone chose to join the dark side. That if he hadn't turned to the dark side then he would not have become Darth Vader. It was then that Obi-Wan was able to find peace within himself finally free himself of the guilt that had burden him.
Reva's motivations in the story was also related to guilt. She felt guilty of surviving the massacre by Anakin that killed of her fellow Younglings. She thought that by avenging their deaths by killing Vader and when she failed that killing Luke would help her find peace and free her of the guilt that burdens her. It was Obi-Wan that point that it was her compassion in not killing Luke that would help her find inner peace and free her from the guilt that burdens her.
Guilt is the most important theme of Obi-Wan Kenobi.

@@matthewshelbourne9560Vader doesn’t want to give Obi-wan any closure. Hayden has to play that he’s trying to hurt and insult Obi-wan. “You didn’t beat me. How dare you!” It’s more that he can’t help being honest when he faces his old master. Obi-wan hears, “oh, you know I didn’t let you down. You don’t blame me for that.” But actually, Anakin kinda does still. It’s still pretty shocking to him that Obi-wan hurt him. But Vader can’t go back and escape the actions he’s taken just now. He’s knows it’s probably right that Obi-wan take solace from what he said, but that would mean fighting the dark side, and he can’t find it in himself to do that yet. So it’s reasonable words, but denial city a moment later.

When Vader says **"I am not your failure"** , his face is covered in blue light as if Anakin Is accepting the apology from Obi wan . Then his face turns red , when Vader returns with darkness . This was so symbolising in a way that even though He's Darth Vader there's is still some Anakin left in him only those who really know him can take out .(Another instance Ashoka ) and Finally Master Qwai Gon for 5secs after two and a half decades
Overally what a great short series which greatly connects the events , also keeping the characters comically accurate . I will be not mad or sad if we don't get a season 2 .

As for Reva after she was injured - she was at the Path facility on Jabiim and that was where they brought Obi-Wan after he was burned and put him in the bacta tank. At least I believe it must be the same place. So she had immediate access to bacta. So, perhaps, a quick dip for her was certainly a plausible explanation based off what they showed previously with Obi-Wan. As for the ship maybe they should have shown a extra ship or two, maybe smaller ones, in the background earlier when the battle or escape was going on. But it's a small thing so personally I can easily dismiss it considering all the great aspects.

  • @KS-xk2so

Not only did this episode have the epic duel, but it really gave Owen and Beru a lot more depth. I've seen several people theorize that the reason why the Empire destroys Owen's farm and slaughters him and his wife in a New Hope is because, like this episode, when the Empire came knocking, they probably came out blasting. I like the idea that Owen and Beru went out fighting for the boy they consider their son.

I absolutely love the intensity of that chase scene music from TESB that was in the beginning of the episode. The use of the Imperial March, Leia's theme, and the Force theme were also amazing.
Also, the sounds of Vader's ship landing to fight Obi-Wan for the 2nd time were the same sounds used for some ships in scenes at the end of RotS. I love all the sound and musical references in this episode and this along with ep5 of Kenobi will be some of my favorite Star Wars content.
The weapons Owen and Beru had I think are similar to the ones the Tusken Raiders used in how they were more unconventional compared to blasters.
I find it so interesting how Leia said "will I ever see you again" just like Anakin did.
I personally think Obi-Wan moved away because he didn't want to be too close to Luke anymore because it could endanger him, and also because he realized Luke just needs to be himself, and his family is enough.
That Hello there was golden. 😂
Obi-Wan left Vader alive because he couldn't do it. He doesn't kill anyone when they're not a threat, and that was still Anakin. He still probably can't bring himself to kill him.

I think that you missed one extremely important factor that you missed and that is guilt that both Obi-Wan and Reva have and how they're freed from this guilt. Obi-Wan feels guilty about what happens to Anakin and the fact that he turned towards the dark side, it is only when Vader tells Obi-Wan that he didn't fail Anakin, that he chose to become Darth Vader and killing off Anakin Skywalker in the process. After that conversation with Darth Vader, Obi-Wan finally found peace and stopped blaming himself for what happened to Anakin and the creation of Darth Vader. Then there is Reva and the guilt she has surviving Anakin's massacre of her fellow Younglings. She believed that the only way to free herself from the guilt, was to avenge the deaths of her fellow Younglings by killing Darth Vader, failing that killing Luke. When she found that she couldn't kill Luke she thought that she had failed her to avenge her fallen comrades, but it was Obi-Wan who pointed out that it was her compassion towards Luke that will help her find peace and free her from the guilt she has regarding the massacre of her fellow Younglings.

Reva really shouldn't be free from guilt though. While she spared Luke and likely isnt as bad as a person as Vader, she still killed innocent people before this point. Sparing one person doesn't make her in the clear. She is a straight up murderer.

People sometimes forget that Obi-Wan is reserved, not weak. Although he lost to Dooku twice (against whom Anakin had a one-and-one record), he practically flew up a shaft to cut Darth Maul in half by surprise, he nearly ended Anakin the first time, and in this battle, he was motivated and focused as never before. His reserved nature finally took a back seat to the task at hand, and he pounded out Darth with boulders and attacks to his respiratory apparatus even as he smirked in satisfaction. If anything, by delighting in the success of his attack and the agony of his opponent, I believe it could be questioned if Obi-Wan briefly (and accidentally) embraced the Dark Side at this time in his life.

It’s obvious Reva is going after Luke because he’s Anakin’s son and she wants to hurt Darth Vader/Anakin. Her rage and need to avenge her friends and family have blinded her until now.
And did you notice whenever Obi-Wan slashed Vader‘s helmet and he was talking to Aniken and Aniken was responding to obi-Wan his light saber turned blue and then when he said he killed Anakin himself and that he would kill Obi-Wan the it turned back to red, so Obi-Wan drew out a little bit of Anakin and it affected the color of his light saber.
Not too many people Caught that detail, it was a nice touch.

Most people hate the character of Reva. FOr whatever reason. I think she was just fine of a secondary character. Showing you can always forfeit the darkside.

I actually really liked Reva, kind of makes me a little sad they didn't make her a spin off next so that we could have a proper beginning an end. I think leaving her where she was stabbed would have been a good starting for a new series to then let her end up where she is now. Her acting is really good, I actually cried. Of course, our boys were the main part of show for me. I do like how they tie some things up in between 3 and 4. Like the Darth thing, and why Obiwan says the things he did. Not a flawless show, but it was good.

I’m catching up on reactions because I’ve only been watching them a few weeks on RUclips overall, but they’ve given me a lot. I realized quite a lot of people (including myself!) missed Bail saying something about “Him finding out about the children.” It can’t be referring to Obi-wan finding out, the message is TO Obi-wan. So my conclusion is Reva thinks that if she can’t take out Vader, she’ll get his kid. I thought initially it might have been because she figured out Owen made her look like a fool early on. But the justice thing is about killing baby Skywalker.

  • @Shortyd17
    @Shortyd17 Год назад

Y’all. Lol. Reva’s goal was to get revenge on Vader for killing her friends as younglings. She tried killing Vader, she obviously failed, then wanted to go kill the rest of his family as a last ditch effort for some sort of twisted Justice for her friends.

But Obi-Wan DIDN’T walk into the SUNSET, but into the sunsetS, it’s Tatooine! 😜
Now, the reason for not killing Vader is easy: the very same he didn’t kill him (he though he did, but actually couldn’t confirm or finish him, so he just left; this time he might have kill him, BUT when he saw his face, all of the injuries he has, that’s why he breaks and tells him he’s sorry, and he felt the same: he couldn’t kill him.

Oh, my God, that meeting. From the center of the darkness and rage and hatred that is Darth Vader... comes Anakin Skywalker's forgiveness. I'd be willing to bet that he didn't want to say the rest of what he had to say in that moment. But he had to. It's the only way to let Obi-Wan have his peace, to give him the permission to let go. That is Anakin choosing to suffer in the hell that he has created of his life, than to ever have to see Obi-Wan, the stoic, the unbreakable, the greatest of the Jedi... ugly crying. For him.
"There is no Anakin. There is no hope this way. None. Our fight is over. Go. Just... just go. "

Remember the lesson from the sparring match: You're obsession with victory blinds you.
Obi-Wan's mission was to get Leia home and to protect the children. He is seeing the birth of the rebellion and also that Leia will be growing into a leader in that fight. He must somehow groom Luke for the future as well. To fixate solely on Vader at that point was not his mission or his duty.
Palpatine, oddly enough, mildly verbally rebukes Vader on that same point in the next scene. He let him live because the victory of the moment was not his mission or his duty.

There are regular guns in Star Wars, although they are collectively referred to as "Slugthrowers".
Fun fact: During the Mandalorian Wars, anytime the Jedi attempted to deflect the Mandalorians primitive Slugthrower projectiles, the lead would melt on contact with their lightsabers, causing the Jedi's face to be showered in molten metal/superheated metal gas. As a result, the Mandalorians actually did quite well against Jedi, as using Slugthrowers takes away one of the Jedi's best defenses. Begin able to deflect, and potentially reflect, an opponent's blaster.

It was a great final episode I teared up many times. Many great moments, the duel, the conflict with Reva which I totally understood- she had it rough in the last 10 years (got tortured, felt left behind etc. and in the process they made a killer out of her). And also everyone asks why Reva survived that when Darth Maul literally got cut in half and survived, just saying you can survive everything with anger in this show 😂
Uncle Owen isnt that bad he cares a lot about Luke and risked his life for him (he also risked his life for Obi Wan in the first ep) because you said he is so rude, for me he is a good man, he maybe is rough but he really cares.
Thank you for the journey it was a cool trip with you guys :)

Great reaction. Loved Obi-Wan called him Darth because why address Vader as his name... Based on this I need an Owen and Beru show to the lead up to adopting Luke because Beru and Owen... OMFG. And the fact Leia calls him Obi-Wan when she calls him Ben through the series means... she will lead to not just naming her son Ben but also "Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope".

Guys, her "goal" was to hurt Anakin by killing his children. Anakin butchered her friends at the Jedi Academy. She tried to kill him, but was almost killed herself by Anakin (Vader). So she felt the only way to gain vengence was to kill his children. Instead, she honored them by NOT killing them when she had the opportunity.

  • @jrlaudio

The reason Obi didn't strike down Vader in my opinion is because jedi aren't supposed to kill wounded/defenseless people while sith do. In episode 3 Anakin cuts off Dooku's arms and Sidious then convinces Anakin to kill Dooku. Afterwards Anakin says this is not the jedi way I should not have done this.
