What I love about SG's channel is that he does videos that are relatable and useful. Like other popular YT channels, except that he is a world-class racer and World Champion...
That's the thing with bikes. He is around bikes all the time and has seen the best of them.. and still gives a wide smile when he hears a good exhaust..

FIM regulations are 1m away at 45° to the centre line of the bike, so looks like the video was correct. The noise meter should be calibrated and be able to provide an average over the measurement duration. Most track day operations will not achieve that in one or more aspects. They are all trying to appease the local council environmental health people. Don't move near to a circuit if you don't want noise. Simple.

@@CyberGasty noise regulators have misunderstood the Euro regulations as representing the stock exhaust output. However the majority of track bikes are neither new nor stock. So their expectations are wildly unrealistic and wrong. Nobody who moves near to a circuit has a reasonable expectation of quiet. Councils should point complaints to the property search results that should include that information.
At a track here (Ontario Canada) the race bikes (Canadian Superbike series) had to pass the same sound limits as us trackday riders. The track sound tester sets the sound meter about 3 meters straight behind the bike and you have to rev about 75% of red line and have to be less than 100 dB. I squeaked in with a 99.6 this year without baffle :) Most racers and even trackday riders put in a baffle, get the sound check sticker then 'accidentally' forget to put the baffle in when they head out on track. This is odd to Australians I think. We have no issues with this on tracks.
Do race bikes have an exemption for this?
Krygsman Yes race week ends have different noise regulations. And in UK each track day has its own noise limits so you gotta make sure you can get in
In Europe except in Spain and Italy it is more and more restrictive. Now you have more and more tracks with 95db limit.

No more trying for the Mallory track record then!
Don't know how accurate they are but you can load DB apps on your phone.
5.500 RPM?
On my Trackdays it was: 1/2 of max RPM, which is 7.500 in my Case.
Others measure 60% of the factory max. power revs. in a 45 degree angle, 1 m away from the bike.
