What's the purpose of that little allen screw? It just stops it from slipping out? Cuz I'm having a hard time trying to get it back in when I reinstalled my db killer. Wondering if I can just leave it
Take that DB killer to an exhuast shop, get them to fabricate a slightly smaller item, so it'll fit easier. Make it smaller by half on one end/cone shaped. Bes tmod I ever did.😊
Thank you for this vid. DB Killer is out, I’m doing the holes today. I’ll do only 2 per tubes as I use this bike in the city, your bike seems pretty loud. ✌️✌️✌️
Just removed my db killer but instead I used a small butane torch to heat up the exhaust around where the db killer is mounted into. It came out with minimal force! I just was careful not to heat up the db killer as that would've been pointless.. Thanks for the video though, it helped alot.
I have just tried to remove my db killer on my Akra for my MT07...I got the little screw out the top then tried to pull out the baffle with pliers and mole grips...it didn't want to move! Haha...great tip on the WD-40 tho and tapping with the hammer! Will try again using those tips...Thanks!!!
Haha I know that baffle sits pretty tight in there! Good to hear that this video was helpfull to you. Let me know if you manage to get it out and what you think of the sound :)
TheNiekoss Yeah will do!!...I've got a friend with a moto cage and he's got his baffle out...it's awesome! I can't even hear my bike next to his lol..thanks!
Moto cage, nice! Haha I had that problem also while riding with friends(before modifying db killer), one of them on a z750 4 cil. no baffle. I could hear nothing but their motorcycles. Its much better now! The loud and low 2 cil sound is pretty addicting now ;)
TheNiekoss cool!! Yeah I can't wait to get it out!....Just had another go but still no good :-( haven't got the same shape pliers that u had tho only normal ones or mole grips...will buy some that look like the ones used and try again...it won't even move a tiny bit!
+Chris MotorLife hmm that sucks. The advantage of using water pump pliers (the one i used) could be that the handles are longer and you can use more force, but more importantly you have a good angle to tap it with large hamer in the opposite direction.. Being able to use the hammer properly did the trick for me. Then it started to move with each tap.
Ive just taken my DB Killer out, and want to modify it, like you have. With it out the sound is much deeper than with the db-killer in, how does the modified one compare in terms of the deepness of the sound and the volume. On a scale of 1-10 with 1 being with the db-killer in and 10 being the db-killer out. Thanks :D
@@Vlekdaan I drilled holes in my dB killer and put it back in and it sounded no different to before, other people have cut those tubes completely off so that might work, but it's much nicer with the DB killer out, you can buy higher flow dB killers for this exhaust so I would suggest that
Thanks for showing this, i will do this to my future MT-07 :) but i will probably take the Db killer out, and leave it like that, then i got 2 "horns" :D
hey sir, great video, i have a kawasaki z400. i bought a leovince gp corsa evo. i installed it without db killer, but it is too loud. i installed the db killer back in, but i need a little something extra like you. should i drill some holes? would it be a little bit louder?
Bedankt voor het delen van het filmpje. Top! :-).
Sorry i got a question. Did you remove the Db without taking out the bolt ? Cause i cant get to the bolt to unscrew it to grt the db out i have to take the whole header...
Nederlands?
Hey man! Thanks. I really have no idea. But if the inner pipe/part of the DB killer on the Suzuki is somehow the same, I think it could be worth trying.
Thanks!
Thanks man! Great it was useful to you. By the way it seems that over time the modified db killer gets a little louder, so dont go to crazy with the amount and diameter of the holes, if you decide to drill holes in the inner pipe. Cheers!
i dont have enough clearance between the db killer screw and swingarm so i cant use the hexagon wrench lol. yours is clearly way bigger and i wondered if i did something wrong on the installation of the exhaust in the first hand.
Iemand ervaring mee?
Just got my akra DB killer out on my 2018 MT-09. Damn, it's so loud and back fired a lot got me worried about the cops around here. Do you see performance loss and back firing with this mod?
Also, I don't think removing it will alter air / fuel mixtures as this is purely for decibel reduction. Straight out headers would be different though.. The ECU makes small adjustments anyway while you're riding as the EGO sensor measure oxygen levels in the exhaust.
Db killers always add some amount of back pressure, it would alter air/fuel ratio That's not a problem as the difference won't be huge and the mt07 is an injection equiped bike, it will adjust itself
@Theniekoss Question man.. i got a ninja 650 2019 model i got full Akrapovic exhaust on my bike an people telling me removing the baffle will effect the bike it will "So called fuck it up" is this true? What is the perks on removing a baffle please reply be great man !
Hey, yes the performance can change when removing it. But the question is well you really notice it. It doesn't hurt just try removing it in a way you can place it back and just test it yourself
Hey man, I already received many questions about the extra db killer yamaha mt-07. I purchased this spare DB killer at Assenburg: www.assumburg.nl/webshop/uitlaatonderdelen/akrapovic-uitlaat-onderdelen/detail/132/akrapovic-db-killer--dbkillers.html.
Yo. Herkenbaar.
+Kitsune Hey man, yes it's a major difference between a modified db killer like in my video and without a db killer. Personally with the original db killer i thought it was a little too soft, modifying it was a perfect inbetween.
So you only drill holes in the db killer, for when you put it back in, it's louder? Is that the only reason? Has nothing to do with the db killer going back in easier? Thanks.
+Flash25807 Hey, no it is absolutely louder without the db killer :)!. But for me that was too loud, and I wanted something in-between -> You can cut off the inner pipe, but but then you will have problems aligning the little screw holes on top of the exhaust when trying to install the db killer again. When you drill holes, it's easier to align the screw holes.
+parv d hey man, i haven't noticed any changes in performance. But I still have the DB killer in the exhaust and I believe if you take it out entirely, the pressure drops and the bike will produce a little less power. But this is based on what i have been reading about it, not first hand experience ;)
Nice and informative video. Iam curious though. How many miles(european) do you have on the bike? Since it probably decreases the pressure in the exhaust it will run a little leaner, but how much this actually affects the engine lifetime is beyond me. Ive been searchibg evry where for a flash tune kit for a mt07 2014 but it seems to be impossible, so iam thinking of trying this without a tune to. But a little worried because my bike has gone 1800 miles(european) or 27 000 miles(american)
you can buy the ecu flashtune that is stated to work from 2015 models as they have 2014 ecu maps for them as well. reason they dont list 2014 is because the fz/mt07 didnt ship overseas before 2015. you can double check by looking at the sticker on your ecu unit and compare it to the unrestricted maps in the flashtune software. mine is 2014 with ecu 1XB-8591A-00
@@danieln935 oh ok, and you have been driving with modified akra all the time? Asking because iam a bit worried what happens to the engine if not tuned ;)
Alfredo Wp no I just bought this spring tbh. I am driving with the db killer in now without any holes in it. The prev owner rode without db killer. Cant say there is no damage, but hard to say. Cranks up and runs smooth. It has a restrictor plate on the throttle to comply with a2 license/ max 35kw. Getting rid of that thing later this month so I can give it full throttle lol
Hey ! Handig filmpje.
😅 Gaatjes boren is overigens THE way to go. :)
@@TheNiekoss De MT-09 is geweldig.
What is the size of the smallest and largest drill? excellent video, I have an akra titanium without catalytic and db killer, but it is a lot of sound to my ears, maybe modifying the db killer as in the video I can have a better sound
Hi, First of all, thank you for your nice video. It is very useful! I would like to know what is the size of the hole you did in the DB Killer inner pipe? Thanks
OK thanks. I dont have it yet but i think I would start with some smaller holes to see what happens. It is more easier to enlarge the hole than reduce it :-)
+Francois Bibeau yes and I noticed that the sounds changes slightly after ridin for a while.. Maybe it is only inside my head but I noticed the exhaust getting a little louder over time. Starting small is best practice ;)
Hi there, I bought an Akrapovic like yours on ebay, guy said it was as new but when I fired it up it was far too loud, I discovered the db killer had been hacked off and only about 20mm of pipe on the inside remained lol, paid cash so basically dont stand a chance of a refund, can you please please tell me how you managed to find a spare db killer and where. Many thanks Chris
+Chris Hines yo man. That sucks I can imagine its pretty loud. I purchased the db killer af the following website. Let me know if you can purchase as well from your country: www.assumburg.nl/webshop/uitlaatonderdelen/akrapovic-uitlaat-onderdelen/detail/132/akrapovic-db-killer--dbkillers.html
+Chris Hines if it doesn't ship to your country I can help you out. By uploading this video I noticed this particular spare part isn't easy to order from abroad..
+Chris Hines no I will keep mine just in case I want to go back to original state :) can you send me a DM on twitter? We can work things out (@niekoss)
+aldamith if you are having issues removing it 'my way', you can try using a tip of some of the commenters and use a torch to Heathen the Outer part of the exhaust. Sound after removing it makes it all worth the effort :)
considering i slept for like 12hrs i better be damn ready! :'D weather seems to have cleared up cause it was raining this morning so all signs point in the right direction
+Daniel Schlegel no need to map the fueling. I would say there are very much look alike in shape (headers) but im not sure if there are 'identical', there arena to be a tiny difference in the curve of the headers. The color is different btw. Cheers man
Firstly thank you very much @TheNiekoss, great tutorial, I managed to remove DB killer pretty easily, but I have some problems to put it back in..did you spend much time or did you just put it in in your first try? :) cheers
+matej piskar Hmm i remember i worried about getting it back in. But I used some lubricant wd-40 to grease it up before putting it back in, and i used the hammer with screwdriver (put some rubber at the end to avoid scratches, to slowely slam it back in position and align it with the hole for the screw. Hope that helps!
TheNiekoss wow such a fast response :D, yea I managed to get it back in, I used hammer with some wood so I dont scratch it..only problem is that I cant turn it a little bit around so I could put screw into the hole, but I guess I will have to try few times :) thank you very much!
+TheNiekoss I'm still deciding on putting a filter on- but a lot of riders who has the akropovic has the DNA filter in it- r u not having any problem with the exhaust?
+TheNiekoss well they say the bike lack on power n hear popping sound n the bike tends to run lean sometimes... If your not experiencing any problem then I should be fine- I live in Hawaii n riders can't go as fast like other places does because it's a small island.
Hmm ok no I dont experience any issues but I will be alert if any of theae issues start occuring. Popping sound? There is a Popping sound, but now sure what you mean by that. There is this sound when I release the throttle and the engine is slowing down. In sure you know this sound it sounds great on all motorcycles..
Hey dude, God damn it.. I did exactly like you did my mine is rock solid! I don't want to remove the whole exhaust just yet but I really want my baffle out, did you have a hard time removing it the first time? I mean I can't move it at all!
+Marcus Östlin Hi, i did have a hard time removing it, until I started using the exact pliers that I used in my video with the rubber gloves for extra grip. Chris Motorlife (he responded in the comment section of this video) made a about this, which might be useful to you as well: "All I know is I tried with about 3 different sets of pliers and a big set of mole grips but none of them worked...you have to use EXACTLY what he uses in the video, by the sounds of it you did.. I bought myself a 4lb club hammer cus the ones I had were heavy but weren't working..when u put the glove into the pliers u really gotta get them into the baffle hole as far as it will go and get a grip tighter than an alligators bite! Then when u hit the pliers with the club hammer u gotta hit pretty hard! It will work but u just gotta keep trying the nack... I was about to give up but tried one last time..once u see it start to move a tiny bit you know it's working then u just gotta hit harder until it budges. ..real tight grip till ur fingers hurt and hard hits is the key... hope you manage to do it!!" Btw you also need to be aware of the right angle to hit the pliers with the hammer. So.. maybe one more try and some extra power? Make sure to use the rubber gloves otherwise you will damage the metal on the db killer..
Marcus Östlin aha :) i'm actually having a hard time just getting the screw out... think i might have fucked up the threads on the screw.. guess i'm fucked then :D not about to drill into the screw itself just to get it a little louder
+Tza Hiko Tsja klopt.
Great video! I'm thinking about purchase for a extra db killer but I can't find any webpage to buy it! where do you purchase it? congratulations for the video!
+Joaquin Gines Martí thanks man! I purchased mine on this website, not sure to which countries they ship but its worth trying! www.assumburg.nl/webshop/uitlaatonderdelen/akrapovic-uitlaat-onderdelen/detail/132/akrapovic-db-killer.html
+TheNiekoss Amazing and very helpful video! Best DB-killer removal guide yet! I will have a go since i just want it a tiny bit deeper andlouder. May i also ask these 4 questions: 1. Also i noticed you drilled twice on each inner pipe. Did you maybe try the sound with only one drillthrough on each pipe? 2. Could you please provide me with the drillbit sizes? 3. Why did you have two sizes of drillbits? Small one for Pre-drill? 4. Im guessing you are aware, but for all people... When you pull out the DB-killer, you get the engine breathing more, which messes up the fuel mixture, without a re-tune its running too lean and thus with less power and _potential_ issues with stalling or additional wear.. I guess the same effect is in place with those drilled holes, however most probably less much than running with no baffle at all hehe. Either way, I´ll be giving your safer way a go! :)
+jockeleu I was trying to achieve the same, a little louder but nothing too crazy because then it would be easier to just take the db killer out entirely. 1. I did not try 2 holes per pipe, but i did try drilling smaller holes at first. When I put back in the db killer to give it a try it did not give the result i wanted, so I made the holes bigger Something i did not notice myself right after modification is that over time and maybe after the engine and exhaust gets hotter the sound gets louder. So maybe just start with a smaller drill bit, and try riding it for a few hours en then decide if the sound is as you wanted it to be ;-) 2. I don't remember them exactly but I'm pretty sure it was a size 10. 3. Yes just for pre-drill. It was difficult (with my regular tools) to drill the pipe because of the cilyndric shape. Starting off with a smaller drill bit makes it somewhat easier. 4. Yes I did read about the issues with taking off the db killer, it was a concern and a purchased an extra db killer in case I would mess up, or did not like the performance or sound after modification ;). So i could always go back to the original setup. This was also one of the reasons I decided to drill holes, and not to cut the inner pipe. I thought that if the core of the shape of the inner pipes remain intact, maybe it does not affect the exhaust output as much. I did not notice any issues by the way other than a louder sound, but off course that is only by manual observation. Good luck and let me know how it goes!
+TheNiekoss Thanks for all the replies! If you do more mods of your bike, please continue to document like this if you can! :) Two more questions: 5. How long time did it take before you experienced the exhaust getting louder? (So i might wait a bit with the mod)... 6. Are you hanging out in any of the MT07 forums?
No problem! And yes will do my best to capture future mods! ;) 5. I think after the first or second ride (after the modification was done) of 45 minutes average the sound was getting louder. It roughly remained as loud as it became after these first few rides. Start of with a small diameter and I think there is nothing to worry about ;) 6. Not yet. Any suggestions?
Note: My personal opinion. Guys don't even bother to remove db killer by your self from this akrapovic. I watched this video and i tried almost 2 hours but db'k didn't even move a cm. Even the screw removing by yourself is very hard since your hands cannot reach properly. In short just go to the dealer and have him do his work. Like I'll go tomorrow. Super tired 0.1% progress.
Well I would like to, but I have to be around Rheden first. ;) I live in The Haque if you didn't know already... This weekend I have a ride with Gunnar GBTW to a dealer in Made, he's looking for a new bike. :) There will be opportunity's even this year if weather holds up.
Mine was a royal pain in the ass to remove. I should say it is the titanium/carbon model and was welded in. I Drilled out the marker where they welded it. Then a sledge hammer and half hour of whacking. It's quite insanely loud with no db killer. Like the hulk on steroids loud.
+Mrstupidcommentbelow Haha klopt.
Hey guys, I was wondering if someone has any experience regarding drilling holes or cut the inner pipes a few cms. Which one will make the exhaust sound better and louder? (I have no CAT installed, will this make a difference?) Would appreciate any kind of help! Kind regards, Osman
@@Partnerthedog He said that drilling holes is better because the db killer fits better when you put it back in. You better watch it one more time yourself, he did not say anything about how it sounds compared to cutting the inner pipe few inches off. And as you see I was asking it in general if someone had any experience with these modifications. Looks like you need some glasses my friend.
I tryed it but it dosent work! I can not remove the DB killer! It moves not 1 mm! i used the WD40 but i think there is no space were i can get IT between.
Don't give up.. It's sometimes doesn't come off fast at all, but eventually it gives! That's the lesson learned from all the comments below. Did you use the exact same pliers as I did? So you can hit the pliers in a good angle?
+stainlessk1 yes i understand what you mean. You did take the tiny screw out did you ;)? Keep trying slightly different techniques.. Are you able to hit the pliers with some good force or does it slide off(no grip) is your hammer big enough?
+stainlessk1 I just visited a dealer and he mentioned that in order to get the db killer out, you could try to increase temperature (so the parts shrink or expand) of the outer part of the exhaust. Or decrease the temp of the inner pipe part. Maybe use ice or a hair dryer.
I cant get the tiny screw out without taking the whole exhaust off, it just simply wont come out, any other tips for getting it out or do i just have to take the exhaust off ?
+Im Donut Monster I did not have issues with getting that screw out! There is not much space to pivot your tool but it can be done! No need to take off the entire exhaust. Did you use a small tool like this one: www.baptist.nl/uploads/images/producten/prod1_7448.jpg
hello my friend great job.....i would like to ask you where did you find the second db-killer?did you buy it from akrapovic center or did you order it from the net? i want to have an extra.thanks a lot.
+χρηστος ζαχαροπουλος hey man! Thanks. I purchased the extra db killer at: assemburg, a dutch/german webshop: www.assumburg.nl/webshop/uitlaatonderdelen/akrapovic-uitlaat-onderdelen/detail/132/akrapovic-db-killer--dbkillers-per-stuk.html. Someone Else recently asked the same question and he ended up getting it off revzilla.com. Maybe check that out?
+χρηστος ζαχαροπουλος +χρηστος ζαχαροπουλος did you use a heavy hammer with the same doet of pliers i used in my video? It doesn't come off easy but once you see it move a little you should be able go get it out this way. If you tried this a few times and it still doesn't come off you can try heating the outer pipe with a hair dryer (to be clear: NOT the two inner pipes). This way the Outer pipe expands and I know someone in the comments was able to get it out after heating the Outer pipe, and then pulling it out with pliers and a hammer. Let me know if this works!
+tefrumpzax I've been reading about less available power after completely removing the db killer but i'm not sure if you really notice the difference or not. I see lots of videos where the db killer is removed completely. Maybe ask +Chris MotorLife in a reply on his video's (he's in the comments below) I know he has completely removed the db killer. All i know is that it sounds good ;)
+Anil T.V I have no personal experience with riding without the db killer for a long time. I have read about it and from many comments from other users I think it's unsure if it will 'damage' the engine, I dont believe so. But it does in fact influence the performance in a negative way. If this can be noticed while riding im not sure. I decided to modify, and not remove the db killer also because of these reasons. And because without the db killer it is too loud to my opinion.
Hi Niek - I think you're on the right track as the std exhaust is way too quiet but people go too far the other way and make their bikes ridiculously loud , you seem to have made a happy medium but I'd like to know what it's like for steady highway riding as you don't want an annoying drone for long trips so can you tell me what it's like? I used to have a Norton twin with std 1950s mufflers which were perfect - gentle and steady riding just a soft burble but when you used full throttle a nice deep rumble Cheers Chiggie
Hey thanks for your comment. Yes It was my goal to find this in-between situation and I seem to have found it with drilling holes in the inner pipes and leaving every thing else intact. I don't make long trips very often though, mostly just around 1-3 hours. To my opinion while riding a steady 90/100 km/h in 4th/5th gear the bike isn't that loud at all. When you open up the throttle it really awakes. However, I recently purchased new (custom) ear plugs and ever since I started using these, less sound is making it's way into my ears :)
I have the same bike and also thought the standard exhaust didn't have a nice sound. After hearing an akra without the db killer in I have completely changed my mind. Without db killer the noise is terribly loud and makes that people ask for a motorbike ban because of the anti social noise guys like you produce. Please leave the db killer in. With db killer the akra sound is nice also.
+Vikki Bartlett hi I purchased the spare db er at Assenburg: www.assumburg.nl/webshop/uitlaatonderdelen/akrapovic-uitlaat-onderdelen/detail/132/akrapovic-db-killer--dbkillers.html Believe it was about 54 euro's.
Most likely not legal to ride without it. It depends on the amount of decibel it produces and what is legally allowed ;) Not every country is very strict on maintaining that law though. And thanks! Having so much fun riding it. Good choice;) which color did you order? Exciting stuff a new bike coming in
Thanks for the info ! :) I will check out if it is allowed or not. I am ordering the matte black one. It's pretty exciting as its my first bike, any extras I should add except for the exhaust??
I just want to say this video is outstanding. You covered every base. Thanks. THIS is how an exhaust comparison video should be done.
Hey man! Thanks! I was frustrated by figuring out how the hell i could get that sound right lol. So decided to make a video. Cheers!
thank you man you just save me the cost of buying "bearing puller", there is nothing to compare to that sound without the baffle. drive safe
Welcome! Drive safe
✌️✌️✌️
thanks for the tip! with it out its waaay too loud, too quiet with it in, this is the perfect middle!🤙
Can confirm this removal process works - thanks for the excellent video.
Great that it helped you out man!
Just removed my db killer but instead I used a small butane torch to heat up the exhaust around where the db killer is mounted into. It came out with minimal force! I just was careful not to heat up the db killer as that would've been pointless.. Thanks for the video though, it helped alot.
Great tip! Nice to know that heating the outer exhaust part actually works fine too!
I'll add this as tip in the video itself.
THANK YOU. LOL at the MT-07 Beep... horn indicator issue.
Ive had mine for a week and I always beep at people when I pass them instead of canceling my signal.
Seth Glenn you will get used to it
Seth Glenn mate in 2020 I still feel your pain
Great video. I have the same bike and exhaust so I will be doing this mod very soon. Removing the db killer is a little to much. Thanks for the video
+Paul Jones Thanks man! Goodluck with this modification! Cheers
if we say the loudness on the exhaust is a 10 without the db killer and a 1 with it in. where would you put your exhaust in loudness from 1-10?
+jørgen mo Good question ;) I would have to say 4 or 5.
thank you very much for fast answer, gonna do this myself at once :D
+jørgen mo cool! Good luck with that!
i kinda lovet it,ended up with 10mm holes. as you said a solid 4-5
have you tried to get it to a 7 or such too?
The before and after sounds like little brother to big brother. Sounds good.
Hehe thanks! Cheers
Old Video but holy hell you saved me, my DB Killer was stuck and i mean stuck.... but this way worked (a little different)
Thanks :D
Do you know the answer? Want to know this too:D
@@Vlekdaan I drilled holes in my dB killer and put it back in and it sounded no different to before, other people have cut those tubes completely off so that might work, but it's much nicer with the DB killer out, you can buy higher flow dB killers for this exhaust so I would suggest that
@@JoshHarrisPOVThanks Joshua!
@@JoshHarrisPOV and wich are the higher flow ones. Mt 09 killer or the rc8?
Thanks for showing this, i will do this to my future MT-07 :) but i will probably take the Db killer out, and leave it like that, then i got 2 "horns" :D
It hurts your ears lol need earplugs. Trust me I did it today no dB killer and rode around a while
hey sir, great video, i have a kawasaki z400. i bought a leovince gp corsa evo. i installed it without db killer, but it is too loud. i installed the db killer back in, but i need a little something extra like you. should i drill some holes? would it be a little bit louder?
Bedankt voor het delen van het filmpje. Top!
Sorry i got a question. Did you remove the Db without taking out the bolt ? Cause i cant get to the bolt to unscrew it to grt the db out i have to take the whole header...
Nederlands?
7:15 Db killer in
9:40 Modified Db killer
Vroeg me af of je enige verschil voelt qua torque?
Hey brother, love the video, was wondering wether the same exhaust modification could me made to a Suzuki gsx s125
Hey man! Thanks. I really have no idea. But if the inner pipe/part of the DB killer on the Suzuki is somehow the same, I think it could be worth trying.
Alvast bedankt!
Great Vid, good to know my video inspired you to take the baffle out.
An excellent tutorial, very informative and much appreciated.
Well done, thanks mate
Db killers always add some amount of back pressure, it would alter air/fuel ratio
That's not a problem as the difference won't be huge and the mt07 is an injection equiped bike, it will adjust itself
i know its been a long time, but did you have the catalyst in the exhaust at the time?
@Theniekoss Question man.. i got a ninja 650 2019 model i got full Akrapovic exhaust on my bike an people telling me removing the baffle will effect the bike it will "So called fuck it up" is this true? What is the perks on removing a baffle please reply be great man !
Hey, yes the performance can change when removing it. But the question is well you really notice it. It doesn't hurt just try removing it in a way you can place it back and just test it yourself
Does this useful for 07 akrapovic carbon racing exhaust ? In Which the db killer only have 1 pipe .
is the inside welded? other videos i watches they had to use a 6mm drill to remove it?
hi, i wonder where did you get the spare db killer? the link provided is broken
Where did you buy the other DB-Killer?
Hey man, I already received many questions about the extra db killer yamaha mt-07. I purchased this spare DB killer at Assenburg: www.assumburg.nl/webshop/uitlaatonderdelen/akrapovic-uitlaat-onderdelen/detail/132/akrapovic-db-killer--dbkillers.html.
Does your bike has a katalysator in the exhaust? Because mine sv650 does, but I want to remove it in an easy way but how? 😆 NL btw?
Yo. Herkenbaar.
How did you get the baffle back in? I've been hammering the shit out of it but it only goes about halfway in. Don't want it to fall off mid ride lol.
lube
Hi man! is it bearable after you modified it? because right now it's so loud my head hurts after riding for awhile without db killer. please reply!
+Kitsune Hey man, yes it's a major difference between a modified db killer like in my video and without a db killer. Personally with the original db killer i thought it was a little too soft, modifying it was a perfect inbetween.
Can i do the exact same with the new akrapovic euro 5 for the new mt 07 2021 ?
So you only drill holes in the db killer, for when you put it back in, it's louder? Is that the only reason?
Has nothing to do with the db killer going back in easier?
Thanks.
+Flash25807 Hey, no it is absolutely louder without the db killer :)!. But for me that was too loud, and I wanted something in-between -> You can cut off the inner pipe, but but then you will have problems aligning the little screw holes on top of the exhaust when trying to install the db killer again. When you drill holes, it's easier to align the screw holes.
Hey, Nice informative video. Many Thanks.
Apart from the better sound. How about actual performance.
Did you notice any change after the mod ??
+parv d hey man, i haven't noticed any changes in performance. But I still have the DB killer in the exhaust and I believe if you take it out entirely, the pressure drops and the bike will produce a little less power. But this is based on what i have been reading about it, not first hand experience ;)
+TheNiekoss Thanks
Hi, I hope you are still active. Do you have the catalysator in or out, regardless of the modified db killer?
I'm still active! But late with responses I see.. Cat was in. But I no longer own this MT-07, I sold it.
But a little worried because my bike has gone 1800 miles(european) or 27 000 miles(american)
you can buy the ecu flashtune that is stated to work from 2015 models as they have 2014 ecu maps for them as well. reason they dont list 2014 is because the fz/mt07 didnt ship overseas before 2015. you can double check by looking at the sticker on your ecu unit and compare it to the unrestricted maps in the flashtune software. mine is 2014 with ecu 1XB-8591A-00
@@danieln935 ah cool thanks for the info!
How many miles have you put yours through? :)
Alfredo Wp i havent recieved my kit yet, but it should be in the mail from canada (cheapest)
My bike has 28000 km
@@danieln935 oh ok, and you have been driving with modified akra all the time? Asking because iam a bit worried what happens to the engine if not tuned ;)
Alfredo Wp no I just bought this spring tbh. I am driving with the db killer in now without any holes in it. The prev owner rode without db killer. Cant say there is no damage, but hard to say. Cranks up and runs smooth. It has a restrictor plate on the throttle to comply with a2 license/ max 35kw. Getting rid of that thing later this month so I can give it full throttle lol
hi there, just wondering where you got your second baffle from? i also dont wanna damage the original one
+andrew g Hi! I added a link the the supplier of the spare DB killer in the description of my video!
Hey ! Handig filmpje.
😅 Gaatjes boren is overigens THE way to go. :)
@@TheNiekoss De MT-09 is geweldig.
What is the size of the smallest and largest drill? excellent video, I have an akra titanium without catalytic and db killer, but it is a lot of sound to my ears, maybe modifying the db killer as in the video I can have a better sound
cut it down by around 6 cm thats what i did u get a decently loud sound which is bearable even on long trips
@@tictac8947 cut the inside part or the one outside, the part that we can see?

Hi,
First of all, thank you for your nice video. It is very useful! I would like to know what is the size of the hole you did in the DB Killer inner pipe? Thanks
+Francois Bibeau thanks glad you liked it! I dont remember the exact drill size but it was anything close to 9mm-10mm.
When you have removed the killer, is it easy to put it back in ?
Yeah it was pretty easy, you can use a lubricant like wd 40 to make it go smoother. The only shit job was taking the damn thing out ;)
Do you need to screw it down or do you think the friction will hold? It doesn't seem to go anywhere once I tapped it back in with a mallet.
+TheNiekoss , wow man that very kind of you, or maybe sell me yours if you don't want to use it, how we going to do this then?
+Chris Hines no I will keep mine just in case I want to go back to original state :) can you send me a DM on twitter? We can work things out (@niekoss)
Ok, thanks mate, let me try and see if this place will ship to the UK first and if not I will get back to you, thanks for all your help mate.
Is this with the catalytic converter installed? I assume not.
Yes it is with Cat
cheers for the vid:> i'll be attempting to remove my db killer in the next few days and probably modify it depending on how loud it is without it :)
+aldamith good luck trying to remove it, hopefully it comes off without too much trouble. Cheers!
Thanks and hopefully it does! If weather and self motivation allows I'll attempt it tomorrow
+aldamith if you are having issues removing it 'my way', you can try using a tip of some of the commenters and use a torch to Heathen the Outer part of the exhaust. Sound after removing it makes it all worth the effort :)
How's your self motivation today? :-) Ready to remove this thing? Let me know how and if you get it off!
considering i slept for like 12hrs i better be damn ready! :'D weather seems to have cleared up cause it was raining this morning so all signs point in the right direction
Geweldig!
do you need to map the fueling with this pipe? do the headers look identical to the original exaust headers?
+Daniel Schlegel no need to map the fueling. I would say there are very much look alike in shape (headers) but im not sure if there are 'identical', there arena to be a tiny difference in the curve of the headers. The color is different btw. Cheers man
thanks bro, ride safe
How did u attach the new/modified db killer?
What size holes did you drill in the db killer?
About 8/10. Start small and test ;)
Hallo,
Firstly thank you very much @TheNiekoss, great tutorial, I managed to remove DB killer pretty easily, but I have some problems to put it back in..did you spend much time or did you just put it in in your first try? :)
cheers
Thanks for making this video about taking out the DB killer- are u running any after market filter on your bike?
+scar h Nope no after market filter yet. Any suggestions? :)
+TheNiekoss I'm still deciding on putting a filter on- but a lot of riders who has the akropovic has the DNA filter in it- r u not having any problem with the exhaust?
+scar h no I dont have any problems. What exact problems do many riders have with the exhaust?
Chris Motorlife (he responded in the comment section of this video) made a about this, which might be useful to you as well:
"All I know is I tried with about 3 different sets of pliers and a big set of mole grips but none of them worked...you have to use EXACTLY what he uses in the video, by the sounds of it you did.. I was about to give up but tried one last time..once u see it start to move a tiny bit you know it's working then u just gotta hit harder until it budges. ..real tight grip till ur fingers hurt and hard hits is the key... hope you manage to do it!!"
Btw you also need to be aware of the right angle to hit the pliers with the hammer. So.. maybe one more try and some extra power? Make sure to use the rubber gloves otherwise you will damage the metal on the db killer..
Thanks man! I'll try again tomorrow! Cheers!
so, how did it go? :D
henrik I bought some special tools that punched the db out, it was really stuck in there.... Nothing i could've done by hand!
Marcus Östlin aha :) i'm actually having a hard time just getting the screw out... think i might have fucked up the threads on the screw.. guess i'm fucked then :D not about to drill into the screw itself just to get it a little louder
Nooit problemen mee gehad!
+TheNiekoss finally I can't buy it because they don't send to Spain, what a shame! but thankyou anyway. I will continue to seak...
I could purchase it and send it as package to spain.
To help out a fellow biker ;) If you really cant find it anywhere else
+TheNiekoss Amazing and very helpful video! Best DB-killer removal guide yet! I will have a go since i just want it a tiny bit deeper andlouder. May i also ask these 4 questions:
When I put back in the db killer to give it a try it did not give the result i wanted, so I made the holes bigger
Something i did not notice myself right after modification is that over time and maybe after the engine and exhaust gets hotter the sound gets louder. So maybe just start with a smaller drill bit, and try riding it for a few hours en then decide if the sound is as you wanted it to be ;-)
Two more questions:
5. How long time did it take before you experienced the exhaust getting louder? (So i might wait a bit with the mod)...
6. Are you hanging out in any of the MT07 forums?
No problem! And yes will do my best to capture future mods! ;)
5. I think after the first or second ride (after the modification was done) of 45 minutes average the sound was getting louder. It roughly remained as loud as it became after these first few rides. Start of with a small diameter and I think there is nothing to worry about ;)
6. Not yet. Any suggestions?
Hey Niek mooi filmpje!
Link: www.akrapovic.com/#!/motorcycle/product/road/14876?brandId=41&modelId=341&yearId=3731
Top, bedankt voor je snelle reactie!
Alvast een fijne jaarwisseling! 😄
No problem. Thanks jij ook fijne jaarwisseling!
If you want send me a link where can i buy db killer... The link that you upload in not work... Please
Super tired 0.1% progress.
your neighbour's must love you lol.kind regards Phil from Oz
+Phillip Payne Haha yes they do! ;) since this video i take it easy with revving in the Backyard lol
Hi there, can't open the Page to order the DB killer! Any Idea to get it in Germany? Thx André
Hey man, hmm that sucks. Can't you find anything else in Germany, a company / website like the one i suggested?
If you can't find any other options let me know, and i try to help you out, order one and ship it to you.
HEY NICE VIDEO BRO I JUST REMOVED MY BUFFLE TOO LOVE THE SOUND AHAHA
WHERE ARE U FROM THE VILLAGE LOOKS AMAZING ??????
Thanks man! Tea the sound is awesome without the db killer lol! I live in the netherlands, video was captured in and around the village Velp ;)
+TheNiekoss AWESOME MAN !! ;)
Gekocht? Thanks. Cheers
Hi, bij Assenburg: www.assumburg.nl/webshop/uitlaatonderdelen/akrapovic-uitlaat-onderdelen/detail/132/akrapovic-db-killer--dbkillers.html
Volgens mij iets van 54 euro.
Sounds real good Niek!
Known environment too @8.00, we did meet there several times already... ;)
+KwakboyMotovlogs next time (when it's dry outside ;) lets go for a ride
Well I would like to, but I have to be around Rheden first. ;)
I live in The Haque if you didn't know already...
This weekend I have a ride with Gunnar GBTW to a dealer in Made, he's looking for a new bike. :)
There will be opportunity's even this year if weather holds up.
Can anyone tell me where I can buy a db killer from in the uk??
wait... those 4 holes (each pipe) added that much sound... nice
Mine was a royal pain in the ass to remove. I should say it is the titanium/carbon model and was welded in. I Drilled out the marker where they welded it. Then a sledge hammer and half hour of whacking. It's quite insanely loud with no db killer. Like the hulk on steroids loud.
TheNiekoss groot gelijk idd!
dope sound. which size did u use for the drill?
+daninator96 I think it was an 8mm drill bit!
Hey guys, I was wondering if someone has any experience regarding drilling holes or cut the inner pipes a few cms. Which one will make the exhaust sound better and louder? (I have no CAT installed, will this make a difference?)
Would appreciate any kind of help!
Kind regards,
Osman
He explained in the video it's better to drill holes than to cut it. Did you even watch
@ossieskru8658 you just repeated what I already know and acted like I didn't know it wtf is wrong with you, mental handicap or something
Does it crackle and pop or not? I found it hard to hear
hello my friend great job.....i would like to ask you where did you find the second db-killer?did you buy it from akrapovic center or did you order it from the net? i want to have an extra.thanks a lot.
Maybe check that out?
thnkas i also have problem i cant take out the baffle!!its so difficult.i am trying with the hummer but nothing!!!
Let me know if this works!
ok my friend.i ll try and i will inform you!!thanks a lot for your infos
is there any downside in having the dB killer completely removed?
+tefrumpzax I've been reading about less available power after completely removing the db killer but i'm not sure if you really notice the difference or not. I see lots of videos where the db killer is removed completely. Maybe ask +Chris MotorLife in a reply on his video's (he's in the comments below) I know he has completely removed the db killer. All i know is that it sounds good ;)
+TheNiekoss oh okay I see. thanks so much for the quick response!
try using muffler by 3tech + EVA, type GP3 Spartan or Tridente, check on youtube..will be nice
removing the dB killer and riding for long without it damages the engine?
I used to have a Norton twin with std 1950s mufflers which were perfect - gentle and steady riding just a soft burble but when you used full throttle a nice deep rumble
Cheers Chiggie
Hey thanks for your comment. Yes It was my goal to find this in-between situation and I seem to have found it with drilling holes in the inner pipes and leaving every thing else intact. I don't make long trips very often though, mostly just around 1-3 hours. To my opinion while riding a steady 90/100 km/h in 4th/5th gear the bike isn't that loud at all. When you open up the throttle it really awakes. However, I recently purchased new (custom) ear plugs and ever since I started using these, less sound is making it's way into my ears :)
Think i might do this to my mt. Took the DB out and while it sounds absolutely amazing it's just too much. Very rude to those around you IMO.
exactly. same here. please share how loud it is compared to DB killer out!
Where did you get another dbkiller ?
Before 7:15 After 8:52
I have the same bike and also thought the standard exhaust didn't have a nice sound. After hearing an akra without the db killer in I have completely changed my mind. Without db killer the noise is terribly loud and makes that people ask for a motorbike ban because of the anti social noise guys like you produce. Please leave the db killer in. With db killer the akra sound is nice also.
where did you buy the spare and how much was it.
+Vikki Bartlett hi I purchased the spare db er at Assenburg: www.assumburg.nl/webshop/uitlaatonderdelen/akrapovic-uitlaat-onderdelen/detail/132/akrapovic-db-killer--dbkillers.html
Believe it was about 54 euro's.
did tou take out the catalytic converter ?
+Pk Lavi no i did not!
TheNiekoss awesome! thanks man
Nice vid! Do you have the cat installed?
+Adil Karakus yep i do!
TheNiekoss thanks! Full respect for still replying to comments on old videos! Got my sub
+Adil Karakus no problem man! And Thanks a lot for the sub :)
Is it street legal to just remove the DB Killer?
awesome bike man, I'm ordering mine next Monday :)
(as per previous comment....) I hadn't seen this video before I tried by the way found it after lol ☺👍
Great home made mod!!
R.I.P. \m/ Ride in peace
Hellishrider lol Still happy with this mod every time i ride it 😬
How do you specify which DB killer you need. I don't even know what language that site is in
+Jimme Alicea van you use the translation option in Google chrome browser? You can always mail these guys and they Will help you pretty quickly.
