- Time for more metal musings from me. Today, I'll be sharing my reaction to @nightwish's performance of 'Nemo' at Wembley in 2015.
Thank you, everyone, for your kind comments on my last video, and for the heartfelt condolences after Bruno's passing. I'll do my best to respond to each of you as soon as possible.

Same for me. I first found Nightwish in about October 2022. Within a couple of days I'd bought all their live stuff (with Floor) and a couple of their studio albums, and since then they've been on continual repeat in my car, and when I listen to music at home, it's always either Nightwish or Floor's solo stuff.

@@themetalmuse Nightwish has a few amazing songs to workout to. One of my favourites is Everdream. Especially at the end when it kicks into double bass and makes you want to sprint to the moon!

Same. June 2022 was my discovery and I listen every day. Also bought all the live stuff and some studio. And then came the t-shirts! 😂
Love the addition of Troy with low whistle and guitar with E-bow.

The big difference for me was that in this version Troy played guitar with an e-bow in the last part of the song - it gave the performance a whole different vibe

Also, I know this is Tarja's song or maybe some would say, but Floor has transcended this song. I cannot help, but feel the power of her voice that elevated this song. Words are impossible to describe, really, but no doubt you can feel it.

@@themetalmuse actually she had it cut shorter during the recent tour as getting thinner. Maybe from the cancer treatment in 2022/23.

Floor is not only a powerful voice, but also an incredible performer! Her training in classical (10 years) and modern (4 years) dance gives her truly admirable mastery of the stage and fluidity of movement. Her passion for dance is evident in every performance of hers.

Thanks! It’s been hard to find my smile again. I swear I keep hoping to see him at the door when I come home. The saddest thing was when my dad woke up from his surgery (high on morphine) he kept saying Bruno was at the end of his bed, but it was just the weight of his tubes. Not sure why that broke me. I suppose cos I keep imagining him just out of sight.
Dom, you are right. In this Wembley Arena concert Floor is more stronger and confident than in Wacken 2013. Even she did amazing performance there, she was not the official member of the band yet. In Wembley how ever, she is confident about her role in the band, and being part of the Night Wish family.

What I mean is to go all in with Sabaton, Even if it will take time as you react to other music too!😊 Feel free to do the same with nightwish if you feel like it!😊🥰 But it makes absolutely nothing if it will take time if you decide to do it! The song “Nemo” is so good that I don’t care who sings it or which era I came from. Tarja’s version in the official music video is excellent, and one of the few performances of hers that I fully enjoy.

Frankly, I do not care for Tarja’s live performance singing; her tone is too operatic, and her vibrato is too overdone for my taste. But I truly respect her as a recording artist where she seems to modulate those affectations more than she does on stage.

Love this song!!! Love the picture of Bruno on your desk. I've bought the live DVD's because it's rare to catch them in my locations on the east coast od USA. If i get the chance I'm all over getting a ticket one way or the other. I did catch them in Ireland and Finland. And they NEVER dissapoint. She is one if the closest to flawless lead singers I have ever seen live. She owns the stage. Thanks for the video Dom and have a great day! 🍻🤟👏

Do the "Tribal "official live that they released maybe 2 months back. That would not disturb your doing the concerts in order. Another would be the Noise video if you havent already. I think you would love both, they are on the harder side, as opposed to the softer songs like "Sleeping Sun"

Troy just played the Irish Low Whistle in this song at Wacken, here he finishes with the EBOW on guitar. All of those are additions to the song, as he didn't start playing with NW until 2007, Nemo is from the 2004 album, Once. If you want to hear Tarja on this song, or on Sleeping Sun, check out the live versions, both were played at the Helsinki 2005 concert (End of an Era DVD) , same concert as her and Marko's version of Phantom of the Opera that you have watched.

I prefer this one to Wacken, but Wembley is special to me having seen Nightwish there.
The 2022 performance of Nemo wasn't as good as 2015, but my favourite of all is Buenos Aires 2018, which is also my favourite concert, with Wembley 2015 second.
I Want My Tears Back is best at B.A. too.
I'll tell you a little story.
I started driving my son to school in 2022 due to bus problems. In my car I have an MP3 CD of all the NW albums that just plays on repeat.
One day my son came down and said his Spotify playlist analysis had come and it said his top played band was slightly ahead of his second
Top was Nightwish with 460+ plays, second was whatever with 30 or so (don't recall the exact figures but it was that sort of order).
I asked what his favourite was. His answer surprised me : Our Decades In The Sun - not what you expect from a 17yo.

I love Nemo, and Floor continues to change vocals on this and most songs. The songs sound fresh and different, each perfomance.

@@themetalmuse The day you posted your video my cat disappeared and I was devastated as well, I didn't write this to you though because you were in much bigger pain that I was, also wasn't sure you'd read my message and didn't want to make you feel even worse.
My cat returned 3 days later in good condition but I couldn't remove you and Bruno from my thoughts. I hope with the help of the two minions you will cover that hole of Bruno!

Superlative performances from all the band members, as usual. Marko's bass is seismic , especially in the first half of the song. It chugs! And I also love when Troy comes in with the EBow, at the end. Lovely harmonies. And yup, you are spot on about Floor. Effortless, or at least she makes it look effortless.
You might also like this more stripped back version, which Floor performed in her solo tour, a couple of years ago.

I think I've said this before but I prefer this show to Wacken, for all that people rightly love that one. This is a headier brew, especially with the new material written with Floor in mind, and a much more developed role for Troy. You are going to have a blast when you get to Greatest Show On Earth...

@@themetalmuseMysterious Captain Nemo is one of the main characters in Jules Verne's novels "10000 leagues under the sea" and "Mysterious island". He commands a huge electric powered submarine called "Nautilus" (so. the first US nuclear submarine much later).
In series "Mysterious island" (in 70's) captain Nemo was played by an charismatic Egyptian Oscar -nominee actor Omar Sharif ("Lawrence of Arabia", "Doctor Zhivago").
Haha, maybe this was a little far fetched, but in some Nightwish -shows Troy has joked about this connection with Verne's adventure classic. And in the song there's also line "Nemo sailing home...". "Nemo" means "nobody" in latin.
Tuomas likes to use references from literature, movie and art. I'm 💯 sure that he did this on purpose.
