For those who are wondering, Troy is playing a Fylde Irish Bouzouki and the guitar part of Marko's Warwick bass is a Framus guitar. Also, the greatness of Nightwish is how easy they're able to make complexity look so easy and of course they are absolutely amazing skillfull.
I don’t think anybody doubts that. I’m a big Nightwish fan. This song didn’t resonate for me personally. Given that Storytime was my top played song on Spotify for 2023…. You can probably get the hint I’m into those big epics they do. 😄 but people have said their version in Tampere is better so I’m gonna check it out. Thanks for the additional details tho!

Yes, we can hear the purrrrr. 😸 From the Endless Forms Most Beautiful album, it's one of the heavier songs on the record. I like that Kai gets showcased a bit in this. The song is a criticism of the negative aspects of organized religion. They aren't opposed to one having beliefs or to religion in general, just some of the things that have been done , by man, in the name of religion.

I really don’t understand why everyone hypes the Tampere concert so much unless they where there 🤷🏻♀️ I personally loved this song on first listen and prefer the Wembley version of the concert because the sound is just better plus I much prefer Floors look here 😊 Oh and please enjoy the time you have left with Bruno 🐈⬛🫶🏼 let him come first we will just have to deal with it no need to apologise 😋

Especially when you get the message behind it. Each band member is top notch in this song: drumming, guitars, keyboard, singing.

I’m so sorry for your loss. 20 is an impressive and respectable age. Trust me I’m spoiling him so much, treats and wet food on demand. I boil him chicken and bake him fish too. The vet visited our home today and said she thinks we might have two more weeks. He got a nice vitamin shot and some slow release arthritis medicine and some probiotics, so he’s in good hands. He really likes this vet who visits and always comes up and sits beside her to get ear rubs.

So I had planned to when I filmed this but honestly I was so tired by the end. This is my favorite Nightwish song, it's a full banger musically and the lyrics are absolute daggers. Personally I don't think Tampere is a huge amount different but the visuals are quite different. I will say that many Nightwish songs don't immediately blow me away. If I'm honest only the Anette era singles, Storytime being the prime example, hit me fully on the first listen, because they are intentionally simple and poppy. When Tuomas has worked with his full depth some of my favorites only became so after revisiting. This song is similar in message and concept to Tribal. The once upon a time part is among the greatest Nightwish moments to me.
It took a couple of times for me too but now i love it. My favorite version is Tampere. Nightwish just has so much musicality to soak it all in in one shot. I love them for it 😊

I have a 12 year old female dog (hopefully 13 in May this year) who already has senior dog issues, such as cataracts in both eyes and certain difficulties getting up and down from my bed, but she's always happy, playful, and hungry. My mom is a nurse, so the very few times she's fallen ill she has taken care of our furry girl. Whoever says what that person said, never had the blessing of having a pet, either from a puppy, or from old age. You just keep doing what you're doing, keep caring and loving him the way you do 💕. (And sorry for getting carried away)

It is probably my least favourite on the studio album, certainly very near the bottom anyway; as a result the live performances get a boost, but although thoroughly enjoyable it's still not a favourite of mine and I can relate to your feelings. Next up _is_ one of my faves, though, so you'd better like it! (Joke. You feel how you feel, no hate here.) All the best.
I think this song is a grower (and you were quite distracted). I'm pretty sure it didn't strike me too much at first listen as well...to be honest, I'm quite often like that, so I would be a horrible reactor 😂 But give it few times and I'm sure you find it great too. I was so distracted but again I think you’re right about it being a grower. Also several people have said that the Tampere version is better. I’ve had this experience before with a song from another band. I disliked the song a lot and then when I heard it live my brain clicked and now I love it. Music and mood and setting and version make a huge difference. The vet can’t believe he’s still here, but you can see he doesn’t look quite himself. But he’s not suffering at all and he’s so taken care of. But I can’t help when the mood takes him to join me. He’d been asleep most the day and the second I turned the camera on he was like “oh hey ma”

Bruno is okay for now, but he has good days and some worse days, but he is always a cuddle bug. I will definitely try this song again, this Tampere performance is meant to be a game changer.

@The Metal Muse: After yesterday, I am grateful you still have Bruno, Dom. I lost my boy Bear due to old age yesterday afternoon (I'm in the US Eastern Standard Time timezone), at roughly 12:30 pm. He was 15 years old, and in his last week, wasn't eating anything. He also knew his time was getting short. But he was a good boy, him and his brother Toby both. It just hurts to lose a friend like a kitty or a doggo when they been a part of your life for over a decade. If you could, Dom, I have a request to make: Yaad by Bloodywood. Yaad is specifically about losing pets or other family, and is an emotional, cathartic song to listen to.
Oh I’d love to comply but I’m worried that would ruin me. “Emotionally” I’m hanging by a thread. DM this request or email me it. I won’t forget and I will do it. Maybe not while Bruno is like this. I’m so sorry for your loss because honestly it’s one of the most gut wrenching pains. I don’t care what people say, a pet isn’t a pet to me, they’re a little angel/soul sent to me on loan to guard. With Bruno, I don’t actually know how I’ll cope. When his sister passed a few years ago I was in consolable but I had Bruno to comfort me and remind me to get up and go fill his bowl 😂🤣 Bruno: “well mother, yes it’s all very sad but you know the real tragedy here is? My bowl, I can see the bottom of the dish, so kindly gather yourself woman and get to the kitchen. Less sniffle sniffle and more tin open open.”
@@themetalmuse : Cats can be demanding, this is true. On the other hand, a cat won't lay with you for four days while you are, pardon the pun, sicker than a dog. Back five or six years ago, Bear and Toby did just that: They laid with me in my bed, and wouldn't leave, other than to eat, and go potty. For four days, all I did was stay hydrated and sleep, as I was extremely ill. Toby, particularly, was also very empathic. As I suffer from depression, I had days where I just didn't want to do anything, and Toby would give me hugs, and lay with me on the couch. He always knew when I wasn't feeling the greatest, and he always listened. Point is, you're absolutely right. My mom has been hit hard by Bear's passing, and because of the weather here being very cold, snowy, and icy, I haven't been able to get out to her house, since I ride a bike everywhere, instead of owning a car. But I shared Yaad on Facebook with the lyrics, and my mom said Yaad made her cry again. But I hope it was a good cry, since we all have to deal with death and the passing of doggos and kitties, just like we do with people. Even I have struggled to hold it together at times, over the last couple of days, trying to keep busy. But Bloodywood is probably one of the most socially conscious and empathic bands I've cone across, similar to Five Finger Death Punch and what they do for military personnel. So for me, Yaad is a reminder that, just as Karan, the flutist and guitarist, says that even though there is a void left behind when they go, our pets leave us with a gift: Knowing and experiencing unconditional love and forgiveness. And I know with Bear and Toby, those two brother doggos absolutely gave that gift every day. Even toward the end, my mom told me that Bear didn't want to leave her, because he knew how much it was going to pain my mom when he did go. From what she told me, Bear even asked permission to go, as doggos do. And even though it still hurts, I wouldn't change anything about knowing Bear and Toby, because they truly enriched my life. They made my life better. And despite how much it hurts, I will always be grateful for that.

The main reason I watch reaction videos, especially from those in the music business, is to get professional opinions and explanations of what is actually happening in a performance. Don't like the track much myself and I would have loved if you'd been able to go into specifics. Something you seldom see alas. Some of the most entertaining/inspired film reviews I've ever had the pleasure to read were those from ppl who didn't like what they saw. Anyhew, my two specific points are the transition into the folky part: drags on for too long w/o much happening. A change-up for changeup's sake imo. Then there's the ending. You have two stellar vocalists crying out in a powerful crescendo and [BOOM you'd think, the end] then a redundant number of bars are added by way of ending the song. The overall message "need for a better tale" is nice enough but where Tuomas gets into specifics it would've been nice if another belief system had been referenced instead of the tired old dig at Christianity. For comparison, take Floor Jansen's first band After Forever (mainly Mark Jansen in that dept.). They at least had the guts to openly criticize radical Islam in e.g. "Follow In The Cry". If I can make a suggestion?.... I always liked those blocks of crystal they do the 3D laser burning inside the block and it looks like a 3D portrait in the middle? That would be an awesome keepsake for you with Bruno. They would only need your favorite photo with him and they literally burn it I side the crystal. OR You can have him put in a giant Pokémon card if you're into that sort of thing. I hope you include him in your videos as long as he's around.... Bruno is a very handsome boy. Give him a scratch for me too! I, for one, always appreciate honesty. Not every song can be your new favorite, though it certainly happens a lot. Some are going to be just okay. For myself I always liked the message of this song but I have to admit that as a Nightwish song it's not as multidimensional and compositionally interesting as many of the others.
The lyrics went over me, I struggle sometimes hearing lyrics first time around….and second… third and fourth …. 🥲🥲🥲 so many mid-sung songs by me…. But people have been kind enough to eliminate me on them and I think I need a do over for this song but the Tampere performance.
If you want a great heavy metal song by Nightwish, try "7 Days To The Wolves".... or something a little easier on the ears, try " Alpenglow"....or Marco singing "While Your Lips Are Still Red" live at Wembley Stadium! I like my music a little on the harder side...so I love Nightwish's heavy metal songs.

My cats favor a side of one thumb across the flat of the head' approach. What?? You cat's head isn't flat up there... try the one-thumb thing for a couple years... it'll flatten right out. At another time and venue, this song may have captured you. But for right now, you are applying your attention towards its best and highest purpose. "In Praise of Cat" The classiest state of being there is.
Well as a metal heal myself I think although lyrics are important it’s how the music makes you feel. I love loads of German, Swedish and Finnish metal songs I don’t understand the lyrics to but love.

Bruno looking a bit ragged 🙁 Weak Fantasy has grown on me over the years and is now my No 6. You might have a different opinion if you watched Tampere instead and werent (rightly) distracted. Try revisiting in a few months at Tampere. This is about organised religion. Hete are some band comments: One of the very best, growing on me all the time. This song, being anti-organised religion, caused a lot of controversy. Here are some band comments about that: MARCO: What comes to the new lyrics, "Weak Fantasy" was the only one that actually hints at ancient tribal literature We obviously realized that religion is a touchy subject and that we'd have to carefully consider the tone of the lyrics. It's still funny that you can publicly criticize and mock art and politics as much as you want, as well as artists and politicians but when you stick your finger in the hornet's nest of religion.. uh-oh. TROY: We were working on "Weak Fantasy" for quite a while. Tuomas originally used more direct, aggressive metaphors, but in the end, we decided to opt for a more ambiguous tone. Some people might still find "Weak Fantasy" confrontational, but you can have different interpretations as well. The wisdom is in the eye of the beholder. TUOMAS: We discussed this stuff with the band for hours on end, and everybody stood behind the lines in Weak Fantasy" for instance. In Nightwish, I have never felt the need to neither rebel nor preach, and that hasn't changed, but if the listener stops to consider different viewpoints because of our music, that's always great. There's never enough open, intelligent, and unprejudiced discussion in the world. Marco- There's obviously nothing wrong with leaning a higher power per se. A belief in something supernatural can comfort you and help you get through the day. But its just horrible when people use ancient religions as an excuse for their own utterly condemnable acts or to instigate senseless indiscriminate hatred towards others. Blind fundamentalism seldom leads to anything good, whether you bow to Allah. Jahve, Jesus, the Flying Spaghetti Monster, or something else. TROY: As the wisdom goes, if you could reason with a fundamentalist, there would be no fundamentalists. TUOMAS: It's only during the last years that l've started to question my own religious stance. Why have I been a Lutheran and believed in the kind of God Lutherans do? It's simply because I was born in Finland in the 1970's. In another culture, in another time, there would have been another god above others. In 10th century Denmark, I would have worshipped Odin and Thor. If I'd been born North Korean, I would've been forbidden to believe in any kind of Supreme Being In other words: what you believe in - or what you think you believe in - is based on pure coincidence. TROY: It's baffling, but some of my friends are actually afraid that I will be cast intothe fiery pits of hell. I can only compare these dear friends of mine to chain smokers in this respect: they know it's unhealthy, but they still refuse to quit. I don't understand why people believe in something without any proof, yet laugh at other similar beliefs - I mean, if I were to claim that you can live to be 150 by eating just yoghurt, nobody would believe me. They would ask me for some kind of proof and research findings. Why can't they apply this logic universally? TUOMAS: To be precise, I consider my- self an agnostic atheist. I don't believe in God, so that makes me an atheist How do I know that God does not exist? I don't, but neither does anybody else. That's why I am also an agnostic. To confess that you do not know some- thing is actually an intelligent and constructive stance. It makes you humble, unlike a blind belief in something unproven MARCO: We had just returned from an 18-month hiatus, so everybody was itching to make some noise again even to rehearse! It's always interesting to play new material, because new songs are not in muscle memory yet. I'm using a double-neck instrument for "Weak Fantasy" for example, and there's a moment when I have to leave the bass humming, turn on the guitar, and, on a certain eighth note quickly grab the other neck. You have to practise these things quite a bit to be able to play them with confidence.
Rightly so. I lost my last cat a couple of years ago and was mighty upset. I've had cats all my life but in my twilight years I couldn't bear to lose another so for the first time in my life I am without a companion. I’m so sorry for your loss. 20 is an impressive and respectable age. Trust me I’m spoiling him so much, treats and wet food on demand. I boil him chicken and bake him fish too. The vet visited our home today and said she thinks we might have two more weeks. He got a nice vitamin shot and some slow release arthritis medicine and some probiotics, so he’s in good hands. He really likes this vet who visits and always comes up and sits beside her to get ear rubs.

This is my favorite Nightwish song, it's a full banger musically and the lyrics are absolute daggers. Personally I don't think Tampere is a huge amount different but the visuals are quite different.
I will say that many Nightwish songs don't immediately blow me away. If I'm honest only the Anette era singles, Storytime being the prime example, hit me fully on the first listen, because they are intentionally simple and poppy.
When Tuomas has worked with his full depth some of my favorites only became so after revisiting.
This song is similar in message and concept to Tribal. The once upon a time part is among the greatest Nightwish moments to me.
This one may grow on me.

@@themetalmuse That is very insensitive, rude and annoying. I have a 12 year old female dog (hopefully 13 in May this year) who already has senior dog issues, such as cataracts in both eyes and certain difficulties getting up and down from my bed, but she's always happy, playful, and hungry.
My mom is a nurse, so the very few times she's fallen ill she has taken care of our furry girl. Whoever says what that person said, never had the blessing of having a pet, either from a puppy, or from old age.
You just keep doing what you're doing, keep caring and loving him the way you do 💕. (And sorry for getting carried away)

It is probably my least favourite on the studio album, certainly very near the bottom anyway; as a result the live performances get a boost, but although thoroughly enjoyable it's still not a favourite of mine and I can relate to your feelings. I think this song is a grower (and you were quite distracted). I'm pretty sure it didn't strike me too much at first listen as well...to be honest, I'm quite often like that, so I would be a horrible reactor 😂 But give it few times and I'm sure you find it great too. I was so distracted but again I think you’re right about it being a grower. Also several people have said that the Tampere version is better. I’ve had this experience before with a song from another band. I disliked the song a lot and then when I heard it live my brain clicked and now I love it. Music and mood and setting and version make a huge difference. The vet can’t believe he’s still here, but you can see he doesn’t look quite himself. But he’s not suffering at all and he’s so taken care of. But I can’t help when the mood takes him to join me. He’d been asleep most the day and the second I turned the camera on he was like “oh hey ma”

This song is one of my favorites but I'd not seen the Wembley version before and I agree with you, it's kinda "meh". As everyone and their brother has already pointed out, Tampere will give you a very different experience. I love that version - and Floor's "Freddie Mercury" stance at the very end is kinda low-key epic. (as for that "wailing wall" commenter, how precious are they? rolls eyes, some people just can't help themselves)🤘
Bruno is okay for now, but he has good days and some worse days, but he is always a cuddle bug. I will definitely try this song again, this Tampere performance is meant to be a game changer.

@The Metal Muse: After yesterday, I am grateful you still have Bruno, Dom. I lost my boy Bear due to old age yesterday afternoon (I'm in the US Eastern Standard Time timezone), at roughly 12:30 pm. He was 15 years old, and in his last week, wasn't eating anything. He also knew his time was getting short.
But he was a good boy, him and his brother Toby both. It just hurts to lose a friend like a kitty or a doggo when they been a part of your life for over a decade.
If you could, Dom, I have a request to make: Yaad by Bloodywood. Yaad is specifically about losing pets or other family, and is an emotional, cathartic song to listen to.
Oh I’d love to comply but I’m worried that would ruin me. “Emotionally” I’m hanging by a thread. DM this request or email me it. I won’t forget and I will do it. Maybe not while Bruno is like this. I’m so sorry for your loss because honestly it’s one of the most gut wrenching pains. I don’t care what people say, a pet isn’t a pet to me, they’re a little angel/soul sent to me on loan to guard. With Bruno, I don’t actually know how I’ll cope. When his sister passed a few years ago I was in consolable but I had Bruno to comfort me and remind me to get up and go fill his bowl 😂🤣 Bruno: “well mother, yes it’s all very sad but you know the real tragedy here is? My bowl, I can see the bottom of the dish, so kindly gather yourself woman and get to the kitchen. Less sniffle sniffle and more tin open open.”
@@themetalmuse : Cats can be demanding, this is true. On the other hand, a cat won't lay with you for four days while you are, pardon the pun, sicker than a dog. Back five or six years ago, Bear and Toby did just that: They laid with me in my bed, and wouldn't leave, other than to eat, and go potty. For four days, all I did was stay hydrated and sleep, as I was extremely ill. Toby, particularly, was also very empathic. As I suffer from depression, I had days where I just didn't want to do anything, and Toby would give me hugs, and lay with me on the couch. He always knew when I wasn't feeling the greatest, and he always listened.
Point is, you're absolutely right. My mom has been hit hard by Bear's passing, and because of the weather here being very cold, snowy, and icy, I haven't been able to get out to her house, since I ride a bike everywhere, instead of owning a car. But I shared Yaad on Facebook with the lyrics, and my mom said Yaad made her cry again. But I hope it was a good cry, since we all have to deal with death and the passing of doggos and kitties, just like we do with people. Even I have struggled to hold it together at times, over the last couple of days, trying to keep busy.
But Bloodywood is probably one of the most socially conscious and empathic bands I've cone across, similar to Five Finger Death Punch and what they do for military personnel. So for me, Yaad is a reminder that, just as Karan, the flutist and guitarist, says that even though there is a void left behind when they go, our pets leave us with a gift: Knowing and experiencing unconditional love and forgiveness. And I know with Bear and Toby, those two brother doggos absolutely gave that gift every day. Even toward the end, my mom told me that Bear didn't want to leave her, because he knew how much it was going to pain my mom when he did go. From what she told me, Bear even asked permission to go, as doggos do. And even though it still hurts, I wouldn't change anything about knowing Bear and Toby, because they truly enriched my life. They made my life better. And despite how much it hurts, I will always be grateful for that.

The main reason I watch reaction videos, especially from those in the music business, is to get professional opinions and explanations of what is actually happening in a performance. But like you said it's good for people to have different tastes or life would be boring! I know some people said the Tampere version is better and mind you I prefer it over this video. Don't like the track much myself and I would have loved if you'd been able to go into specifics. Something you seldom see alas. Some of the most entertaining/inspired film reviews I've ever had the pleasure to read were those from ppl who didn't like what they saw. Anyhew, my two specific points are the transition into the folky part: drags on for too long w/o much happening. A change-up for changeup's sake imo. Then there's the ending. You have two stellar vocalists crying out in a powerful crescendo and [BOOM you'd think, the end] then a redundant number of bars are added by way of ending the song.
The overall message "need for a better tale" is nice enough but where Tuomas gets into specifics it would've been nice if another belief system had been referenced instead of the tired old dig at Christianity. For comparison, take Floor Jansen's first band After Forever (mainly Mark Jansen in that dept.). They at least had the guts to openly criticize radical Islam in e.g. "Follow In The Cry". I, for one, always appreciate honesty. Not every song can be your new favorite, though it certainly happens a lot. Some are going to be just okay.
For myself I always liked the message of this song but I have to admit that as a Nightwish song it's not as multidimensional and compositionally interesting as many of the others.
The lyrics went over me, I struggle sometimes hearing lyrics first time around….and second… third and fourth …. 🥲🥲🥲 so many mid-sung songs by me…. But people have been kind enough to eliminate me on them and I think I need a do over for this song but the Tampere performance.

You might have a different opinion if you watched Tampere instead and werent (rightly) distracted.

TROY: We were working on "Weak Fantasy" for quite a while. Tuomas originally used more direct, aggressive metaphors, but in the end, we decided to opt for a more ambiguous tone. Some people might still find "Weak Fantasy" confrontational, but you can have different interpretations
as well. The wisdom is in the eye of the
beholder.
TUOMAS: We discussed this stuff with the band for hours on end, and everybody stood behind the lines in Weak Fantasy" for instance. In Nightwish, I have never felt the need to neither rebel nor preach, and that hasn't changed, but if the listener

that l've started to question my own religious stance. Why have I been a Lutheran and believed in the kind of God Lutherans do? It's simply because I was born in Finland in the 1970's. In another culture, in another time, there would have been another god above others. In 10th century Denmark, I would have worshipped Odin and Thor. If I'd been born North Korean, I would've been forbidden to believe in any kind of Supreme Being
In other words: what you believe in - or
what you think you believe in - is based on pure coincidence.
TROY: It's baffling, but some of my friends are actually afraid that I will be cast intothe fiery pits of hell. I can only compare these dear friends of mine to chain smokers in this respect: they know it's unhealthy, but they still refuse to quit.

18-month hiatus, so everybody was itching to make some noise again even to rehearse! It's always interesting to play new material, because new songs are not in muscle memory yet.
I'm using a double-neck instrument for "Weak Fantasy" for example, and there's a moment when I have to leave the bass humming, turn on the guitar, and, on a certain eighth note quickly grab the other neck. You have to
practise these things quite a bit to be able to play them with confidence.
