I reckon after performing the song a couple of thousand times, his keyboard work is pretty automatic.

I love this song too and my Nightwish-smile agrees! I also love the way Floor rolls her eyes when she sings "A starving crew with show-off toys"! On their latest album there a song about the same theme, "Tribal", also with some amazing drumwork from Kai.
Excellent comment!! Kai is a completely different style from Jukka, but both are remarkable geniuses who only enhance the music. I love, so very much, that they are such good friends, and Jukka recommended him to the band. I also love that Jukka is still with the band in the administration end - that dude is family to all of us who love Nightwish. Thanks, James!

What do you expect when the lyrics are literally a sermon for the current secular religion?
I find this song to be a bit conflicting for me personally. I see the criticism of organized religion and agree. I was raised Roman Catholic, but turned my back on the church in my early teens after recognizing the hypocrisy and corruption within my congregation. However there are many values and teachings of the Bible I still believe 40 years later. The Ten Commandments IMHO are the foundation of a good and just society.
@@whirledpeaz5758 The difference between religions and humanist ethical frameworks is the belief in the supernatural, that which cannot be seen or verified as real, which can only serve as a locus of external control. Rather than responsibility to the divine, people should be taught to be responsible to each other and the species as a whole.
@@whirledpeaz5758 The values and teachings of the Bible have little to do with Christianity. Most of them already existed in pre-Christian Europe and were simply borrowed by the Church in order to keep its hold over the people. The early Christian sects were absolutely disgusting.
The hypocrisy within Christianity is huge. You can break all the Ten Commandments and still expect to be "forgiven" and "saved". Churches are filled with "born again virgins" and I highly doubt that it's Jesus they're looking for there.

Loving your "no pause" style. Thoroughly enjoying being a part of your journey. Can't wait till you hit the pinnacle of this adventure. Both songs will require intense homework due to the intense subject matter. Learning the backstory of "Poet and the Pendulum" adds so much to the experience.
Can't agree more. I love this "no pause" style, too. Her facial expressions, the sparkle in her eyes, the smile all over her face, that is commentary enough.

Troy is playing an Electric Bouzouki ( A musical instrument popular in Greece. It is a member of the long-necked lute family, with a round body with a flat top and a long neck with a fretted fingerboard.).
Marko is Playing an Warwick Infinity / Panthera Double neck Bass and Guitar ( It is called THE BEAST).
This song is against organized religions based on tribal religious texts, especially The Bible, it's not against personal faith in some Deity. However, one should realize that all those religious texts are & have been interpreted and used to justify unimaginable cruelties, persecution, discrimination etc., the worst being the idea that man is separate from nature & by some divine right above all other lifeforms, which explains the current almost catastrophic state of our planet.
lyrics are spot on - so many fractures in our world have a root in the fantasy that each of the religions/sects/whatever are THE ONE way. This song speaks, with anger, against the fact that we humans are destroying ourselves and this world based on a power structure that needs to be made obsolete - we ALL deserve better.

Nightwish is not a "rabbit-hole," they're a honey pot! Nothing but pleasure and amazement. Tuomas does not write anything but masterpieces. Creative people plant seeds, talented people are the enriched soil that grow those seeds. Everybody has seeds to plant, and a great diversity of produce grow from them. The genius of Tuomas found the genius of Empuu, Marco, Jukka, Troy, Kai, and Floor, Tarja and Anette to grow his seeds of brilliant compositions. Nightwish is a symbiotic pairing of composer, musicians and audience ... and we are all the richer for it. Your joyful watching of this great song planted the seeds of joy in all of us. Fortunately, I'm full of enough fertilizer to grow that seed of joy, and it reached my face, where a big smile broke out! Thank you once again, Jynger. The ride continues.

Thanks for this one Jynger, I.. frickin'.. luv.. this.. track 🤘🏻 We all know that most of NW's songs have energy and power behind them, it's one of Tuomas's spells, but this track is off the charts! So much drive and momentum, Kai in full beast mode on those drums and I love anything with powerful tribal-type drumming. (Viking/old Nordic style music is a fav of mine, try it round a camp fire at night... it'll be a spiritual baptism for sure) Thank you my dear, a pleasure as always. Have a great day 🍻
Great choice and reaction. I loved this song when I first heard it on the album, and this Tampere performance of it became one of my favorite live Nighwish tracks. So much intensity. I believe Floor's family was in this audience. Imaging how proud they are of her. Thanks again Jynger!

This is a phenomenal composition with the trademark Nightwish drama, layers and transitions performed live by an exquisite group of musicians fronted by the best vocalist and front woman on earth whether round or flat (the earth that is). Usual smiley face and still no tissues, I was listening to them in the bathroom getting ready for a shower, I have waist length hair, so decided to try and copy floor I'm not kidding after a few seconds I felt like I had been on a huge ride at a fair, talk about dizzy don't know how she does it. I lost focus after their breakup wih Tarja, their first vocalist, and didn't listened again until 2019. I obviously missed a good time, because I could have been in Wacken 2013. It's about 2 hours away from home with a car (getting tickets is another topic 😉) My favorte song those days with Tarja was 'Wish I Had An Angel', and I still think, for some songs Tarja was a bit better voice. Of course, Floor can take all the songs in her style, that was the reason for me to become hooked again. Maybe you find some time to listen / react also to some songs of the Tarja era. Best wishes from Germany (Nightwish Army Vegetable Division)!

@Jyngerslapz I just just discovered Nightwish for the first time around the middle or end of Sept 2022. That lead me to the rabbit hole of looking for other bands in kind of the same space. I highly recommend you check out Sirenia. They have a few music videos you could react to and so far I haven't found any live videos of a quality that you'd want to use for a reaction video. I'm not recommending this band for you to doing reaction to but for your off camera enjoyment. I really think you'd like them.
So far of the bands I've checked out in the genre Nightwish is my favorite. 2nd is Sirenia. 3rd is Epica.

Science is literally responsible for our advancement as a species, organized religion is the largest force holding us back from advancement. Organized religion is responsible for incredible damage to the human spirit over the course of history. If you have a problem with humanism you might just not actually get Nightwish.
