I have loved this song ever since I was a kid and yes this is the best version. ♥️
Great song!! Great singers!!
Beautiful ❤❤
Their harmonies are so silky! Love this song.
Very beautifull song, excellent choise Daniel and 🤩👍👋 Harri
Thanks Agñete my friend. 😊
@@danielvolk237 The Pleasure was mine 🥰
JD Souther is one of my favorite singers of all time. He co-wrote a lot of the Eagles music. His version of New Kid in Town is my favorite. You must do that song.
Almost forgot about this one. Thanks for reminding me 💚🎶🎵
That's a long time ago since I have heard this song. Beautiful music and fantastic voices❤️🎶🎶👍
I agree, this is Wonderful!
Absolutely in the top 10 of the most beautiful harmonies ❤. Harri, if you want to hear another example of JD Souther’s beautiful harmonies, please react to his duet with Linda Ronstadt “HEARTS AGAINST THE WIND” pure perfection! Wonderful reaction, and thank you to the person who requested this classic 😊
Haven’t heard this tune in decades, certainly is a sweet memory. Thank you Harri and J.D. 💕👍
Excellent choice Daniel. Smooth as silk. JD Souther makes it look easy but his part is very difficult. Of course, you got the best of the best LA session players. Thanks Daniel & Harri.....👋👋👋
Thanks my friend. I think I requested it at least 4 times and it kept getting blocked but Harri persevered and shocked me when I saw it. What a guy.
😊
I love this! James Taylor is a long time favorite. JD Souther has a special place in my heart for a few reasons. First, he was the long time boyfriend of my favorite female singer, Linda Ronstadt, and he wrote some beautiful songs for her. I also love his voice which is heard in the background of some of Linda’s songs, Eagles’ songs and his beautiful solo work. This was a great choice. Thanks Harri and Daniel. 🌸💐✌️
I love the song Faithless Love that he wrote.

Me too. 💐
Thanks Debbie for your nice comments.😊
Painfully beautiful. Makes me wonder if James wrote this about his and Carly Simon's divorce.
Another one of James's duets with great harmony is "How's the World Treating You?" with Alison Krause. Thanks, Harri. Be well.
When I first heard this version I thought it was Glen Frey on backup.
Fine song and fine interpretation :)
I asked for this....!
Thanks. I asked Harri for this tune 4 times and it was blocked by you tube.
It finally made it. Thanks Harri.
@@danielvolk237 Great job, not giving up 👍👍👍
From Jame's 1981 album, "Dad Loves His Work", a beautiful song from James , J.D. Souther and Waddy Wachel, such beautiful lyrics and delivery.😢
Jame's and J.D., with magically meshed harmonies, Jame's extremely soulful usage of his head voice and J. D.'s expressive unique tone with a smooth melancholic touch that blends with all genres.
Topped off with Waddy's 3 note accoustic guitar riff with the most recognizable element of the song, just a timeless classic. Produced by Peter Asher, just a brillant magical masterpiece.
Great reaction Harri.❤❤ Dreamy song Daniel. 👏👏 Cheers from Canada ❤❤🇨🇦🇨🇦
Thanks Mary for your nice comments as usual. I was in Northern Ontario last week. Ahh 😊
Great choice, my friend. Hope you had a fun trip, it's going to be so beautiful in a few weeks.🇨🇦💕 🇺🇲 🤗✌️🎶
Beautiful song, harmonies and performance. There's a "Who's Who" of musicians in that studio! This is the original, Harri. Your first reaction of this song was to some cheesy cover! Excellent selection, Daniel! Thanks to you and Harri!
The legendary Lee Sklar on bass, not sure who else is playing here. Magical sound - gorgeous.
@@timcaesar6749 Magical indeed; Waddy Wachtel on acoustic guitar!
@@pncombies And the great Rick Marotta on drums and Don Grolnick on the rhodes.
Thanks for your comments. 😉
Daniel - This was fabulous. JT and JD Souther are so remarkably talented singers and songwriters. Each has its own place in the history of music ever since the 60s. Neither has lost a step and their vocals are as smooth as glass. Bravo Daniel and Harri.
Two great voices and artists. JD Souther's only hit single is "You're Only Lonely". Could have been a Roy O. song. Harmonies there too, with Jackson Browne and three members of the Eagles. David Sanborn on sax. Great to hear this one. Thanks.
ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SONG'S OF ALL TIME
Loved it Harri. Thank u mate. Slainte ☘️🇺🇲
I am with you Harri on the fender rhodes, makes every song they use it on sound better.
Love this song. Also the song handyman.
Come a, come a, come a, come a....
Upper Class!
Always great seeing a younger Leland with a non Santa Clause colored beard. 😂 Harri great video. Most of those guys on that stage are top notch studio musicians who have played on scores of songs the world knows and loves.
💖💖💖
Thanks, Harry! One of my favorites! Literally music to my ears!
I love JD, and JT is one of my personal all time favs. So together, this is magic. An unappreciated song of JDs is White Rhythm & Blues. Take a listen. Also recorded by Linda Ronstadt as they are good friends and for a time were even more
Fantastic!
Wild. I was driving yesterday, and I rarely ever play the radio anymore. But for some reason I turned it on, and this song was playing. I wondered why I never saw anybody react to it and today here you are!
Leland Sklar on bass.
I'll tell you what Harri; this is real soul love song that has to be connected with the wonderful "All this love" by De Barge" released one year later and offering a similar musical mood!
I'm currently publishing a book for an author who was forced to file for a divorce and began to be shunned by people that she thought loved her. When reviewing the edits, I found that she used the words "Some of them his friends, some of them her friends, some of them understand" to describe how she was feeling (and then I come here and find the song). I'm so glad someone is reacting to it. It's an amazing song.
I'd go with soft rock, Harri. What a killer song. Unbelievably-soul crunching.
Have always loved this song. The 45 single is in my stack somewhere.
I ADORE this song. ❤ (J.D. Souther’s part is so hard to sing…I can usually pick up the harmony part pretty easily, but this one is tough!)
JD was very close with the Eagles and helped them write a number of songs...
One of his best which means it's one of the best songs ever.
Did you know that Duran Duran keyboardist Nick Rhodes is actually called Nick Bates, but changes his last name to Rhodes because he loves that instrument?
Love JT and JD! Beautiful song
This was such a heavy song back in the day! The studio version is both of them too. This song came out before James and Carly got divorced! (well before they announced it anyway.) Still makes me so emotional! (Check out Souther, Hillman, Furay Band- Falling in Love! James Taylor and Simon & Garfunkel recorded a cover of the Sam Cooke classic, Wonderful World in the late 70s. (post break-up.!)
I looked up before commenting. Was going to suggest you check out JD Souther's "You're Only Lonely" and you DID review it. Love it! ❤
Reminds me of the Eagles harmonies.
"HANDY MAN"....! James was a "player"..!
This beautiful tune was written by James Taylor, JD Souther, and Guitarist Waddy Wachtel. I believe it is
based on James and Carly Simon's break up. Don't hold me to it☺️
Such a fantastic song Daniel. I love both of these performers. Thank you and Harri.
@@Cynthia... How is my Canadian sis doing. Can't wait to hear your picks sis.
🇨🇦😊
Can easily see The Eagles cover this song on one of their albums. They may have already at one time.
J.D. wrote or co-wrote a lot of songs.
Well, I'll be a monkey's uncle too. I think Darwin would even agree. 😂
I believe this is the original version of this song and not the James Taylor solo
version. All three of the composers of the song are playing on this version. JT,JD, and Waddy Wachtel on guitar. 😊
And Waddy Watchel...
JD’s soaring tenor is showcased in “Smoke Gets in your Eyes”:ruclips.net/video/YpddY7Q8efc/видео.html. He sang it in Steven Spielberg’s 1989 movie “Always”. He released an 2011 album called “Natural History” of his own recording of songs he had written for other artists.
JD Souther sounds a lot like Vince Gill .
"Her Town, Too" was only ever recorded as a duet, at least by JT. The studio version wouldn't have been recorded in one take - what you're watching is a one-take video. This isn't the audio that is on the record and was released as a single, although it's very close. My guess is that they recorded this video around the same time as the studio version. Either way, it's an amazing performance of a wonderful song. Great job!
If I am correct this is about the breakup of James Taylor and Carly Simon. At least that’s what the word was this first came out
By the way, "Faithless Love" (written by JD Souther) is one of the saddest songs you'll ever hear and for your first time hearing it, listen to JD Souther sing it himself, not Linda Ronstadt. JD puts the "cry" into it.
Nothing wrong with Linda’s version. 💐
@@debbiechang5781 No, and that's not what I said. I was in high school when her version came out and it was fine, but I wanted him to hear it from the man who wrote it. He sings it differently than anyone else, because of where it came from. Nothing wrong with JD's version, either.
I imagine was right around the time of James and Carley's divorce...
