I wanted to give a couple of these to the grandkids for Christmas. Trying to match the camera to the film is very confusing. Even more, there seems to be a problem getting photo cartridges, nobody has stock, not even Ebay ! Long story short, no matter how great the camera is, for 8 pics in the demo cartridge, it is awfully pricey. I did not buy any. If Kodak gets their supply act together I might reconsider, but for now, NO THANKS.

I have been using the Kodak Mini Shot 3 for over a month now. What is annoying me is when I take photos driectly with the camera why does anything near a white background or daylight hitting from the side of a shot always nearly comes out like a burn out, and ruins the the shot. Anyone experienced this? Any ideas how to stop that? I have tried the apps fpr this camera but they fail. Thanks :)

Thank you for the great review! I've owned the Kodak Mini 2 Retro, which is a 2x3 printer and its GREAT. I just purchased the Mini Shot 3 Retro after watching your review. Here is why this product is superior compared to other products in the market.
    1. The film is extremely cheaper verses Instax and Polaroids. I think Kodak's is 30-40 cents per photo and it's a $1 a photo for Instax and Polaroid. This reason itself should be a reason why the Kodak 4PASS products beat any instant printers in the market.
    2. The photo quality is incomparable with Instax or any Zink products. I believe it's also water resistant?
    3. Unlike other analog products like Instax, the Kodak dye-sub camera printers are 2-in-1, meaning that it can also be connected with a phone to print photos that way.
Yes, it does take 50 seconds or so to print a photo, but it takes an Instax or Polaroid photos several minutes to fully develop, so.. the Kodak 4PASS products are actually developing photos much faster.

    • @Andrew-vr5md
      @Andrew-vr5md 3 года назад +3

@@jesusbuenrostro7671 They are both good! The only difference is the size of photos. The Mini 2 Retro prints 2x3 (2.1x3.4 inch to be exact), and the Mini 3 Retro prints 3x3inch square sized photos. So whichever size you will find it more useful! Enjoy the awesome product, I still love them.

I was waiting for this review!!! So thank you so much 😊
I like the design but the features seem quite limited even if my first concern is to get a square format printer. Do you think it’s a good printer or should i get the instax share sp3 instead? Or maybe the canon selphy square QX10 🤔 i can’t decide….

    • @JustAnotherChris

Just depends on what your style is. Do like film or paper? Film is more expensive than paper so there’s a few factors. I prefer film but that’s not everyone’s favorite.

  • @Boswd

I guess it just may be me but it seems like you put a lot of stock in the fact of it not being a camera you could bring out and do a lot of quick street like shooting. While I don't disagree with that sentimate it, I don't think that should be as a huge almost a dealbreaker. We got one for Christmas and when you use it for fun occasions settings like parties, holidays, family gathering quick shots of some fun stuff this is probably one of the best camera's in it's class. We have the fuji instax mini and those pictures stink, I'm sorry I know it's an internet reviewers darling but the quality is such crap we found the quality of the kodak to leaps ahead and love the bluetooth printer feature of this as well. Seems like you really liked it but just couldn't get past it not being a quick point and shoot. which is fair but use it within it's situations it was made for, this is wonderful just MHO

  • @TheLeiPol

Good review of this camera. In Europe it’s also available as the Agfaphoto Realpix. Kodak has also a minishot that uses smaller paper and these products are also available as a printer only. These dye sublimation devices give better quality photos when compared to Zink based products. I can see a market for these types of devices. These are digital, no problem, but it would have been nice when used as a digital instant camera there’s was a saving of the digital file on a memory card, just my two cents.

I think the fact that it doesn't store photos kind of hurts it because it's not quick enough for instant photography. I feel like it puts this camera in a weird spot. Especially considering they're already a ton of bluetooth photo printers and instant cameras. I don't see anything that really sets it apart from anything I already have, polaroid hi print and instax instant cameras.

So my Olde Canon PowerShot 15 can do a better job and have 4X6 inch prints at the local drugstore for less than this "Kodak" Dye-Sublimation camera/printer? (Plus, I can import .JPGs or RAW files from the memory chip to Ye Olde computer to scrutinize/"lightroom"-to-death.) It's not instant, but "it just works." My late uncle was a fan of instant picture cameras, but even "Mr. I-gotta-see-it-now" eventually bought a Minolta Maxxum 35mm film camera system.

The camera itself looks awful, design of it okay, photos it takes look real bad, should of just made it a printer only like the polaroid hipoint.
Would be nice if Kodak developed their own new instant film/film camera instead of licensing their name too other companies (like with this printer/all the Zink ones they done, their new budget 35mm cameras and even the never released/vaporware super 8mm camera that looked promising) the new film they make nowadays for professional films makers and 35mm shooting and even new 8mm is really really solid like it’s always been, would be nice if they came take some of that quality and make something with it in this market

I'm buying this camera for use during delivery driving. I deliver to auto dealers, and overtime the dealers become complacent to the fact that a 60' big rig comes into their dealer overnight and they leave cars or things laying around that sometimes prevent delivery. This camera would allow me to take a snapshot of a problem and then leave the image with the dealer.

Thanks! Ive put all my Instax cameras on the shelf for now because Im tired of blurry and/or crappy underexposed photos. Have both Fuji and Lomo cameras and neither do well for portraits because of the ISO 800 speed film which I hate. Maybe time for an SX70 and some 160 film! Anyhow, I ordered one of these because it looks cool, photos look good, love the square format and its way cheaper than Instax film. I disagree about The Who Song sign shot at 6:10 though. The shot from your phone has that super fake HDR look, the shot from the camera looks much better IMO. Thanks.

I can tell you right now the Liene Quality will be better. But it is bigger photos so that could be a negative to some

Thank you so much, I was about to buy this as a present for someone and your review made me realise it's not a good fit.
Sometimes bad news is good news, like when it saves you wasting cash on the wrong gift.
Not meaning to be stupidly reductive, but do you have a favourite instant camera near(ish) to this budget?

I like your videos but actively avoid them due to your thumbnails. I HATE the weird eye thing that seems to be becoming a habit amongst some RUclipsrs.
It just puts me off in a deep way, urgh. Just creepy.

Hello. Great review, txs. I have the same wondering than Kelly Blad below: wondering what it looks like compared to the instax square film ? Would you happen to have both type of printer or camera? If you do, I would really be interested seeing the exact same picture taken/printed from phone with the two formats. The only comparisons I found on internet are between the kodak and the instax mini but they’re not even the same size !!! Comparing two different things is not very relevant..
    Txs in advance.
(Pis: just a little « remark »: if you add a « analog » filter to you videos (from 5:52) then we can’t really see if the good analog looking is from the print-outs or the video filter 😉)
