- In this video I turned an emerging vase. This process is done by carving away part of the outside to make it look like there are two vases, when it's really only one.

Hi my name is Carl Jacobson,
I started woodworking with my grandfather as a young boy. I continued woodworking through high school, and started woodturning after seeing a turned project in a friends shop. Some of my fondest memories are working with my grandfather in his wood shop. Being able to share our passion for woodworking, ties it all together. We also do a lot of epoxy projects as well as woodturning. Хобби

Beautiful vase, Carl. 😊😊
Thank you!
I just was given two pieces of burl by my 85 yr old father. He asked me to make something special and he was excited to see what I came up with. This was a very inspiring video as I was seeking out a project that I could do with the burl. Thanks for the inspiration!
That's really cool! I'm sure you'll make something great.
Another wonderful piece !!!
Thank you Mike!
Robin finds the most interesting things for you to try.

Thank you Shane!
Beautiful work! I think I might be jealous over your power carver.
Thank you 😀
A very interesting piece of work. Good texturing. Yes the burning tool was a bit much but you recovered very well. The little torch did a nice job. Overall a very nice piece. I hope Robin approved. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and remember, when the wood goes around, the face shield comes down.🙂🙂
Thank you Glen, yes Robin like it 😀
Carl great job there I really liked the concept of the vase, well done.
Thank you Alan!
Wow! I love this!

Thank you so much John!!
Amazing piece! Beautiful combination of turning and carving! Always my favorites to watch!
Thank you buddy!
I like the video format. Great content
Thank you!
Gorgeous piece, Carl! Loved seeing the hand and power carving rather than using a Dremel. Not that a Dremel is a bad idea, just nice to see something a little bit different.
Thank you Seth 😀
Nice, Carl. A different take on an emerging vase but more like something I would expect from you. That center kind of looks like cholla wood.
Bill
Thank you Bill, yes it looks a lot like Cholla.
Such talent and skill. Beautiful piece of work ☺☺
Thank you very much!!
Very nice work Carl. May have to roadtrip to Tigard!
That would be great Mark, love to hangout again.

Très sympathique cette technique ,original et magnifique. trop beau,j'adore.👍
Merci beaucoup
Looks a bit like a bottle in a pouch Carl. I will try to find time to have a go at this but might use a lace effect on the outer skin to try and give it a leather pouch effect.
Nice work as usual Carl.
All the best
Tony
Thank you Tony!! I thank the lace would look really cool.
WELDONE carl beautiful. very coooooool.
Thank you!!
I just got some young black walnut with very little heartwood. I may try an emerging dark vase coming through the light sapwood. It's not great for much else.
That sounds really cool David!
That looks great, good work. How long did it take from start to finish
Thank you! Probably about 5 hours all together.
Cool vase Carl!🤙🏼🤙🏼 where is the info on the pizza cutter info you speak of? How long is the challenge going on?

@@CarlJacobson thank you 🤙🏼🤙🏼
I wonder how effective leaving the emerging part and burning the main body would have been.
I think that would look cool too.
I'd LOVE to submit a piece for the pizza cutter contest but you're all sold out of the kits on your online store. Can we use other kits?
Absolutely you can use any pizza cutter you want the link to submitted is down below in the description.
Looks kinda like a voodoo lily.
Right!? :)
Very cool idea, thanks for showing how it’s done Carl.
