This is beautiful and it's so nice to see a piece made from a huge lump of wood with no resin. But I have to say the thumbnail does look like you're about to carve a legless torso!
You captured the elegance of this art piece. I’m so glad you didn’t add resin, it gets used way too often. The craftsman obligation is to bring out the wood’s final beauty. Well done. Thank you for sharing your video.
A stunning piece of wood turned (literally) into a stunningly beautiful piece of art. I love what you do Jack Mack. You could not have made a better career choice. Portland, Oregon USA
Usually when I watch one of these videos with a woodworker trimming a piece down with their bandsaw, I'm jealous and amazed at how effortless both their skill AND their saw ZIPS right through the wood. This time, however, I was greeted with the familiar sound of the various metal parts, the guide wheels, the blade spinning and all of it whining in protest. Your blade also looked far narrower than most other's that i watch. My bandsaw has a thin blade and also whines ,and the blade likes to bend and flex with every cut, always makes using it an absolute adventure! Watching from central Illinois!
Hey. The blade used here was almost full and ready to go to the big bandsaw resting place in the sky, I’m not one to waste time, changing this blade for a new one for rip cuts would have meant I’d never put this dull blade back on the saw, so instead I got one last use out of it.
Although you never repeat yourself in creating works of art and beauty, I have to repeat myself due to lack of adequate words for appreciating your work. I absolutely love the colour and grain of the laburnum wood. Thanks for sharing
OMG❗️This wood is very stunning inside. The more you started working it, the more the beauty came out of it! What an amazing piece of artwork you created! I would have loved to have seen a epoxy shine finisher on it -that’s just me but either way it’s gorgeous!
Jack 🤩 What a hoggs leg of beautiful wood. The slit of the center wood is so awesome and natural for the piece let alone the finish you always make special to every piece! . Grr!!
Hi Jack I'm Amanda from Scotland in the Uk. I love your videos and this piecd of wood ids awesome it has magnificent grain and markings and the two tone of colouring makes it stand out. I was just expecting you to drill a hole in the side and stick a pole in it ... would have made a perfect E.T. model 🤣 What an absolutely stunning piece of wood and I love that you left the big piece of bark in the side, I feel that this always adds to the piece ... beautiful 👍 I'm originally from Glasgow (Scotland) but now living in Hamilton 😀
I've got several pieces of wood very similar to the one that you started with so this gives me hope that I can turn something half as nice as your piece 👌

I always hated having a piece of wood like that waiting to be split, but what you did with it is a work of art.
I'm fascinated by how you carve out the inside of a vase like this so that the thickness of the wood is consistent. It's amazing.
it is like anything…if you know what you are doing and you do it often enough it becomes easier and easier then second nature.
I love the slow motion-it really shows what the tools are doing.
Left handed . More artistic and creative than most.
Understatement of the year! What a beauty! Well done! Thank you for sharing! God bless!
WOW! Jack.
