Does this Edmonton roster have what it takes to win a cup?
If skinner plays lights out
yup, if skinner keeps playing amazing like in game 1 vs Dallas, and the oilers get more offence going they got this
No way let’s be honest rangers or Florida we’re going to win from the start and I’m a canucks fan
Put Corey Perry back in the lineup , yes.
@@iceKOId he’s a liability
huge win for the oilers, skinners confidence levels on max, McDavid avenges being snake bit all game with the 2OT winner!!
It's game 1 calm down lmao..
@@kindrin4773 still a huge win for a team which everybody was writing off against the Stars
@@kindrin4773 my fault for being pumped after everyone wouldn’t shut up about how the stars were going to “walk all over the oilers” but instead they won an exciting close game by being the better team

Forgets to mention that Holland executed possibly the greatest trade in oilers history: Acquiring Mattias Ekholm.
He also has the best signing in Oilers history: Zach Hyman

they always forget about drai
Draisaitl is even higher points in the playoffs
Draisatl is an absolute savage in the playoffs. I met a dude recently who tried to tell me that Matthew's is better than draisatl. He's a leafs fan, but even then, the delusion is real. Draisatl has the 3rd best point streak for playoffs in NHL history... but Matthew's is better... the delusion is real
I don’t disagree that McDavid is the best player in the world, but you gotta give Leon his flowers. That guy is an absolute beast in my opinion their neck and neck and sometimes Dry comes on more than McDavid does.
The only reason why he doesn't get as much praise is because his game isn't as pretty.
@goat9295 No.. its because hes German and on the same team as McDavid, who's Canadian. Had Leon gone to an American team, or just a team with less talent, he would probably get way more attention.
@@millsy5094don’t think it’s his nationality dude
Yeah man, Driasital has a crazy good career spreadsheet.
@trytinn its a mixture of things. Cant tell me if he wasnt canadian or american he would be getting way more attention though.
This is crazy to watch after mcdavid scored the game winner
Yet another "hockey expert" who ramps up the Stars as the massive-depth of talent, and the Oilers are nothing but McDavid, therefore have no hope of even a sniff of a finals. Yeah, that aged well. Oilers weren't supposed to win over LA without a massive fight, were dead in the water with the Canucks.... and yet here they are. So far, not one of these so-called experts (including TSN, ESPN, etc, etc) have done any sort of mea culpa, just the same storyline of the 'lucky to be in the playoffs Oilers' they've promoted throughout the season, and in every round so far.
@@jamiewilson3599the storyline alters the betting odds and changed consumer behavior. It's all about sports gambling now. The "analysts" give scripted predictions. They are like the news anchors. You could watch 20 different networks but they all say the same thing. Sports analysts give their takes in the moment, but when it comes to their "official predictions", it's all scripted

During playoffs
Connor has 62 games played 32 goals 66 assists for 98 points (+23)
Draisaitl has 62 games played 40 goals 62 assist for 102 points (+14)
both have been going crazy in playoffs, just shows how much oilers has relied on the duo and how much they have lacked depth
I mean this argument a double edged sword like he said this year just over 50% of the points are coming from Drai and mcdavid but since there scoring so much there is still a lot of depth scoring or else it’d be much higher
Connor McDavid will go down as the greatest player in the history of the NHL
You sound just like a LeBron fan
Over Orr, Gretzky, Mario? Ya no
No. Just no. Among the greats? For sure. But not at this rate. No “greatest” has not won the cup. I hope he doesn’t end up in the same category as Iginla. There’s great, and then there’s greatest.
@@joelmacdonald6994 I would say Lundquist falls into "greatest that never won a cup." Dude was easily one of the best tenders and the Rangers let him down throughout his carrer
@@skylarsimes8 they could not play in todays league
Well he just did tonight.
Keep up the great content!
uh Draisaitl can do what connor does in the playoffs maybe even better?
Saw a stat online the other day that said only 3 players in NHL history have had 100pts in 60 or less playoff games.
Gretzky, Lemieux and Draisaitl.
Their stats are fairly close 102 points for Leon and 98 points for Connor both have played 62 games in total. Connor has a slightly better +- ratio but also a bit more ice time per game to produce said points , who is better ? hard to say tbh both are insane playoff performers. That being said Leon definetly deserves more attention/credits.
They do completely different things, but yeah they're both high point producers. Draisaitl moreso on goals
I feel like comparing Dri and McDavid is like comparing Steve Yzerman and Brendan Shanahan.
Did this guy just predict the exact score of game 3 in the thumbnail?
He probably changed the thumbnail yesterday
That was a massive win for the Oilers they looked really good last night. Besides the 1st OT it was a war.
Almost blew another 2+ goal lead
I was more speechless when he missed an empty net.
It's that hesitation that he always has. He realized he couldn't pass it off to someone like he does 99% of the time he has a clear shot on goal
Good. Thanks.
That was quick
That McDavid goal against the Rangers is the best goal I've ever witnessed. He splits 4 guys and a goalie between the blue line and the net from almost a stand still. The announcer doesn't even know what to say, they're speechless
Oilers giving that deal to nurse was a tragedy. Makar is going to be the goat of defense.
This series is going to be a lot closer than anyone thought.. wouldn't be surprised to see a game 7 overtime in Dallas
you've extended your window to half of the men in the us, rob. the canucks was one time.
How about drai 😮
If McDavid can combine the last 2 seasons he has had, next year. He is going to be terrifying. 65 ginos and 100+ apples, if he can combine those in the same season the league is in for a rough year
the only way to be better than McDavid is to go down to the enchanted hockey pond and having the fair maiden of the ice pond hoist up a magic glowing hockey stick to you so you become invincible
What if you're not gay? 😂
@@Sid-gu5qk it works no matter what
Would love to see another video like this about Draisaitl!
Bud had this video on the ready 😂 good video tho
Panthers gonna Rain on that Parade !
Great video
This year is their best year in a good while. The biggest improvements had to be the picked up players like Ekholm and Hyman. The coaching is a huge factor too. When all these players find their roles, they fire off completely and you can’t stop them from rolling. With their coach knowing McDavid from the Erie Otters era and Knoblauch having high pressure tournament experiences and cups (still love that my team beat his in 2017), that coaching prowess is definitely a key. Not only is the team beginning to be high end, but so is the coaching staff.
Oilers should thank the canucks for prepping skinner for the next round lol.
The problem is not the Stars, it is the referees that follows NHL's "instructions" to prevent a Canadian team to win the Cup. Put McDavid in any US Team and he would have had held 2 Cups up to now. Yesterday's game speaks by itself about how biased the calls were.
I believe all sports are rigged. And I don't believe the NHL is rigging for Canada not to win.
I was hoping you'd go into why Nurse got that massive payday. His predecessor managed to lose both of his top pairing D-men in the same off-season. Klefbom was forced to retire due to injury and Larsson to the expansion draft as his mom would not visit him in Edmonton (his dad died of a heart attack in Edmonton during a visit from Sweden). Holland was left with a tough decision. Either let Nurse walk as well (since previous management had been signing him year to year and hadn't signed him long term to a cheaper contract) or sign him to what had been market value. Clearly a tough decision, but one that had to be made since the Oilers would have been left without their top 3 D.
How is there no interference or holding penalty on McDavid's high stick penalty when the puck is 15 feet away from McDavid and Duchesne?
How come there’s no penalties at all for the Stars?
I think you did a video comparing regular season and playoff production, can’t find it! Which one is it?
getting that close to 2 ppg is crazy
They need a solid goalie!!!! if you watch their games, you can see how dominant the oilers are in most of their games and they put up a lot of points but all of that goes to waste if they're goalie isn't solid enough to help maintain that lead. every 3rd period is always a heart attack waiting to happen because you know skinner can just as easily let it 5 goals in 5 minutes LOL! give us a solid goalie and the oilers will be unstoppable!
Why aren't we talking about Draisaitl
god that one against the rangers, McDavid just makes it look like a be-a-pro character
Just a small matter because of the lack of love for the Bolts, but the PENGUINS arent the most recent team, the Lightning have been to 4 Stanley Cup Finals and 6 Eastern conference finals, 4 Stanley cup finals, and 2 cups.
I called it
That just shows you that hockey is not a 1 man team
We also need to say that since Coffey in behind the bench with the new coach, that defense is an offensive powerhouse that can feed the forwards. The changes the Oilers made in December 2023 is the turning point and will get them the Cup.
This account glazes the oilers so much
And he said he "was a fan". Getting a lot of butthurt Canuck fan vibes
Looking at those highlights makes it obvious that McDavid is playing through something
Goldeneye pause music again. That’s really why I’m here.

Video Update; Edmonton vs Florida in the Finals starts on Saturday June 8
Turn around time is crazy
He's hurt, he's not skating close to his normal.
Let's not forget they only lost to the team that ended up winning the cup for the last 2 years
We gotta get Skinner on the Fuhr diet of booger sugar😝
This is Holland's last year already regardless of what happens he's retiring
Thanks for the analysis Rob. The issue is the cap - sort of. When 2 players take 1/3 of the cap hit, there's no way to have enough goal support around them for long enough to become a dynasty. If player 3 has a breakout 30-goal season, he wants $10 million and forces himself to be traded... breaking up the team's core. But here's the rub... even if that #3 guy is willing to take a discount to make dynasty, HIS AGENT ISN'T. The NHLPA doesn't like any player taking a discount, and THEY are aligned with the agents. This is where the business overshadows the athletics in a sport, and ultimately its the fans who lose out. There will never be another Oliers dynasty for this reason... nobody could afford to employ the Kurri, Coffey, Anderson, Messier, Lowe and Huddy of today's NHL because of the cap and the no-discounts-allowed.
You should really talk to Tom Brady about this
McDavid will sign with MTL and win the 25th Stanley Cup of the Franchise.
Rob sound like a bitter Canucks fan

Its the playoffs, and every team has a chance to win
They're in the CF with no points from Perry or McLeod, and 1 from Brown and Desharnais. Sooner or later they are going to get some production from the lower echelon. It all depends on Skinner keeping them in the game. Last night the defense was impenetrable and only a boneheaded freebie from Kulak gave Dallas some life.
The Edmonton Slew Foots / Slashers / High sticks
Vancouver crosschecks they play even dirtier after the whistle
Watch Detroit make it to the cup in 2 years
thats a long fucking marathon in Toronto
era adjustment isnt real. it only exists because gretzky gaped his peers by 1000 points and people want modern players to seem as good or better while not realizing it makes the rest of the 80s players look like farm team players which just isnt the case or ive seem even some Have things like messier adjusted above gretzky in some stats..... THEY PLAYED THE SAME YEARS! im also gona say if jagr was able to play through half gretzkys career and also play as recent as 2017 i dont think the talent has came as far as everyone thinks.
Gretzky couldn't give those 2 line passes or he'd have hundreds more points.
Considering the context. He only needs to win one with oilers. After that, whatever’s cleaver
If i am remembering correctly holland is retiring anyways after this season no? Doesnt matter what happens regarding his job
Imagine if he was HEALTHY
You are the hockey jimmyhighroller
there has been another player as dominant or maybe slightly left marcel dionne
*Dude needs a Grant Fuhr*
Gretzky's peak was more like 11 years.
Kane hasn't been the same since he had his wrist sliced. 😢
Video clearly shows that a****** dragging his skate over his arm
Oilers dynasty is still all time best
McNuggets does it! What a stud 😮
He was nicely fed, he did blow a practically empty net earlier. Didn't you see him point right to Bouchard immediately after the goal???
Can you imagine how dominant this Oilers team would be had they actually had someone like Yzerman as a GM? Without McDavid & Draisaitl this team wouldnt even make the playoffs. Its just sad we'll probably never see McDavid on a stacked team with a lot of depth. 😢
It doesn’t matter who the gm is. It’s a hard cap league. When a team has an elite top 5 player that player is gonna eventually get paid such a large percentage of the cap it’s nearly impossible to have quality depth.
Especially when the player gets to the point both mcdavid and draisaitl are at in their careers. The oilers might better off trading one of them when Draisaitl’s contract is near up.
@@adamc-sv2tp cant tell me if they had a gm who drafted smart, or just smarter than Holland that it wouldnt help the team with depth. I say Yzerman because he showed that it is possible to still have depth while having players like Kucherov & Stamkos. Leons contract is peanuts compared to whats hes worth until next year. Contracts like Nurses are a result of bad decisions by the GM.. I just think the team could and should have been built around McDavid, instead of forcing him to work extra hard because the team lacks depth. If they dont win the cup this year than yeah I agree, Leon will likely walk, and rightfully so. Its insane to say "it doesnt matter who the GM is"... 😕
And no one knows what it would be like because hes been there for McDavids whole career. They havent even seen a cup finals...
Yzerman could dynasty this team without McD and Drai
I'd love to see McDavid win a cup. But as a Red Wings guy I would rather Holland never win one again.
This means Draisaitl has a better adjusted ppg than a prime Wayne Gretzky
Leafs have time to draft a #1 goal-scoring defenseman but after 2029, they may have lost their chance. They ignored drafting Top-2 D for a decade now. And goalscoring D make you so much harder to play, notably if they also play a 200' game. Hence why Dallas and Carolina and Colorado and Tampa stay dangerous.
So Gretzky's playoff production dropped by 25%... what a choker 🤣😂
If Edmonton can push dallas to at least game 6 then i think they have legitimate chance at the cup and after last nights game things look interesting
“Let’s call him Zach”
Why do I suspect that everyone calls him Zach? 😏
Buster Hyman
The problem with those houses up north is, almost no one wants to live there except the rig pigs, and people in town. Tell your "friend" good luck with those garbage houses. 😅
Something needs to change? Well its changing right before your eyes buddy
Maybe worth noting that Gretzky never won another cup after leaving Edmonton. Meanwhile that team went on to win another cup without him.
Also, making comparisons to the pre cap era vs the cap era is kind of pointless. A prime example is the 90’s Rangers when they basically went out and bought a cup with a stacked team (filled with a bunch of the dynasty Oilers players).
Like 9 players I think what series my graduating year
Only a few oilers went with Gretzky, they knew who ran that team. Gretzky later joined Mess again not the other way around.
Injuries r a big part of winning the cup
All this proves is that Messier value as a leader was unmatched. I'm not Messier fan either
Wouldn't be surprised if McDavid and Draisaitl leave if the Oilers can't get to the finals within the next few seasons
As much glazing as you rightfully give McMeme, let’s not forget that this year it seems all the “the Oilers are just two guys” trash-talking has finally been shut down. We’re seeing a lot of performance from other players.
I think you make some of the best hockey content on youtube and everything about your videos is great except.. PLEASE get a better microphone or work on your audio levels - narration volume is all over the place. Keep up the quality content
game 1 could change a lot. dallas had them. hit the post two times. came back two times. interesting.
EDM practically blowing another 2+ goal lead
trade mcdavid to detroit if he wants a cup.
Wait until you take a look at Draisaitl’s playoff point totals… Forgot about Drai unfortunately
