    Stu was dialed in, man. He played really well. The Oilers deserved to win this game. My one gripe aside from the game getting tied up was the camera angle. It was horrible, almost as if the Stars gave a fan free season tickets in exchange for running the camera.

    • @AHockey1993
      @AHockey1993  4 месяца назад +4

      Yeah their camera has always been a bit iffy. It's exacerbated even more when every fan is standing during play lol doing commentary during the stream last night was difficult 😂

    What did I say!! Stuart Skinner Redemption game!! He was completely locked in. Those two goals were unfortunate, but the only reason Connor and Bouch could even score in double overtime was because he stood tall in overtime!!

    Dallas played 80 minutes of no player infraction hockey..... Riiiight. I'd really like to hear the excuse the NHL comes up with for that garbage. One example: The goal Hyman scored, he was being hooked hard from both sides and the refs (from what I saw), weren't going to call anything. It was unreal to watch in real time. Just glad he's so strong on the puck and buried it.
    Skinner sure built a pretty solid wall there, can't really fault him on either of those goals. Might have flopped a bit on the first one but that really falls on Kulak. I really can't stand it when there's fans that are concerned about Skinner's streaky play, that they're called haters.... That's a bullshit way to look at it. We all know the guy is capable.
    I have a feeling this reffing shit is going to continue so I really hope the guys can play through it. I almost thought the same as you about the 4d chess comment, they're just trying to keep the Oilers sharp.

    While lopsided, I dont have too many issues with the officiating tonight to be honest. The officials should just move their feet and get out of the way of the play a bit more when able.
    Skinner seems to perform best when he has an early high danger chance that he also stops. He lets in 2 a game usually which sucks, but after that first big save and rebound in the 1st he looked strong. (Although a little bit shaken, but that could have been adrenaline.)
    I did also like the performance of the depth players. They werent spectacular, but they played up and matched well against the pressure of the Dallas depth pieces.
    Also, wow that penalty kill has been doing well, but the boys need to start finding their footing on the power play. Perhaps a new setup strat is in order.

    • @smackfpv

      Agree with your comment on the officiating, lopsided is true. let's see if it they try to even it up for the Stars tomorrow. Skinner was solid. Faceoff needs some work and some discipline to reduce give-aways.

    This game was great for the Oilers in many ways. The effort, Skinner's supersolid performance, the amazing PK... I liked specially the way all lines were involved. I mean, I saw much more participation of lines 3 & 4, and that is something specially important in these WCF against Dalla's deep roster. That said, it's also positive that the 3 main scoring forwards -McDavid, Hyman & Draitsaitl- shared protagonism regarding scoring. Good job! Go Oilers!

    Like you said, the officiating last night was questionable at best and putrid at worst. It felt awesome to see this team stick it to the officiating with their unbelievable PK, they've been coming through all playoffs and last night was their best yet. Killing off a double minor in OT. Hell yeah!! Thought Dallas was going to win it when McDavid took that penalty, but thank goodness luck was also on our side with those two goalposts. If we keep playing like this each and every game (minus the blown leads, of course), then our chances at a Cup are looking better and better. Also huge how Stu seems to have found his confidence again!! Looking forward to tomorrow night, LET'S GO OILERS!!!!!!

    Everyone is saying Skinner was dialled in and I’m like… eh. Yeah, he pulled it together, but for the second game in a row he got beat left side while failing to seal the post and being sprawled out on his stomach. Game 7 last series it didn’t bite him in the ass, but he was beat. It happened again this game and it did result in a goal. He did stand firm most of the game but that’s a clear weakness.

      .939 sv%, 2GA, and a really solid +1.8 GSAx. That's dialed in. His huge saves in the first on the Dadonov breakaway, and then the rebound save right after set the tone IMO. One of Skinners best games in his playoff career! Hopefully he can keep it up 💪

      @@AHockey1993 he definitely wasn’t bad, I just didn’t love him giving up the same exact chance as the previous game. Teams learn quickly what skinner is struggling with and I’m worried this will be the same. But I’ve said it a lot, if he can give them even league average goaltending they’ll go all the way. Last night was above average and one bad goal isn’t the end of the world I suppose.
