Did you know, you can right click on the salvage button to open up a menu where you can filter what will be salvaged, for example only salvaging cannon ammo
That's awesome! This whole time I've been manually throwing out steel one stack at a time in order to keep salvaging

Also one thing to note if you don’t know this already. You can get ammo racked.
Basically, if you have a storage that is full of ammo and that storage block get destroyed, it will go kaboom. Not as devastating as a reactor kaboom, but still dangerous.

I think different ammunitions (cannon, different types of missile) also have different blast damage compared to otherwise.

@@lavaleopard2961 well yea, had a nuclear destroyer once, ammo racked and it causes a chain reaction, the nuke storage blow up and hit both reactor and erased the ship.
Attacking any faction ship WILL make you wanted.
The problem is with that first go is that they died so fast they couldn't call for reinforcements.
What I'm hearing is that in order to attack a faction vessel and get away with it, you need to make sure their comms array doesn't exist before they realize they need it.

@@Jenna_Talia well im not wise enough to know how to use them on anything except pre built ships...still trying to create a dreadnought capable enough to take on the anzu and will so far it has taken on both my King-Class and Queen-Class dreadnoughts which are basically the same just one uses more shields and the other uses more armor both are 400+ crew ships with 2mil+ price range and that beast just cuts them up like steak
Diagonal Ship: just change the flight orientation and the ship builder grid will align as appropriate. i.e. on the 8-way flight direction under the ship context menu (to the right of your ship name), select one of the 4 corners pointing diagonally. Then click the "wrench and screwdriver" icon, and you should see the building grid flipped diagonally. Hope this helps!!
EDIT: There also seems to be a new UI element: when you are in the ship builder mode, look to the far right for a little blue triangle above the Command Point budget graph. Clicking this will expand up to include cost of the ship and flight direction. You still need to click out and back into the build mode, but this will change the aspect, too.
You can also right click the mirror mode button to see more mirroring options and angles.

People movers / conveyor belts increase speed by 50% in the right direction, and decrease speed by 75% in the reverse direction and by 25% when traveling across the tile.
You can also designate storage rooms for specific resources. It's kinda hard to tell if you knew this in the video, so sorry if I just repeated what you already know
Hi! So, about the "WANTED" thing that happened, or didn't happen, when you attacked the first time this video. I am pretty sure that if your first shot or first instance of damage destroys every cockpit, then no WANTED goes out. It makes trailing someone with a railgun and sniping them VERY fun
For the painting, you can use the black vague/blurry decals to fake a sense of height/depth as it kinda looks like a shadow
The moving catwalks are incredibly efficient if placed correctly. The crew gets a 50% boost going with it, a 75% decrease moving against it, and 25% decrease moving across it. Also no worries about delays Lath, we will wait however long you need. Keep up the great work!

Also, maybe you noticed, but the "swarm" unknown signal, as far as I know, is usually a teeny tiny difficult-to-see supply cache with some really expensive things like CPUs, diamonds, enriched uranium, tristeel, hyper coils, and gold!
I really love the new ship design's side armor. Because the deck cannons can fire at a pretty decent angle over it, the ability to turn the ship to protect the exposed center while still firing is very tactical.
To make a diagonal ship u need to go into ship settings,( where u can change the attack defaults), than you go to flight direction and change it to any diagonal thing but preferably do top right. Then design the ship so it flies dioagnally
You can also set the mirror to be diagonal as well.
Since enemies seem to like aiming down the center, maybe you should move the shields to be on the sides of the centerline.
IA is looking for your weakest point most of the time unless it can't possibly reach it. In that case IA knows it has to down the shield first that's why it aim at it, they don't necessarily aim center :p

Please add some forward facing small shields on the front of the Malal's Wrath, and some structure holding the front section on - just as a backup.
Also, you might want to set your main cannons to be fire at target only, so that you can give the disrupters a chance to fire first, thus avoiding issues where the disrupters arrive just after the first salvo of cannon shots, although it looks like you're doing something like this already, in which case ensuring that the disrupters are fire-at-will, then only selecting the target when everything is stable and they've had a chance to hit would substantially reduce the number of early misses you get, which is important as your ship is a relatively alpha-strike heavy brawler, and should be able to take most of the ships you're fighting out in one hit (or at least cripple them).
If you want to make your ships crew efficient a really good tool is creating specialised roles, and then having precise numbers of each role in each area - using bunks to make the crew count accurate.
Finally, ammo factories are really effective and small, so much so that you may find it easier to put the factories on the ship near the cannons, and store sulfur onboard, and produce new ammo mid fight.
I think again, *THINK* that the disrupters have more range than the cannons, but the cannons may also take time to actually shoot, sometimes railguns act like they have a way longer cooldown than they actually do, so deck cannons may be the same.
@@lavaleopard2961 I was seeing the disrupters firing behind the cannons several times in the video, so that may be the case, but it didn't seem to be enough - although that was largely in the earlier parts of the video when they were further back, so might be reduced substantially.

I find it fun that most people decide they're gonna turn a pirate base into a ship, usually their mobile manufactorium.
I myself have a chonky boy full of factories and storage space, only with a small enough crew to feed the engines and work when stationary, and reenact the first Alien movie
I love the pattern you got on the colors there, gave the ship some dimensionality
you can put your weapons and engines on working non stop mode, so you can properly strestest your build. Also you can try design ideas in sandbox mode (as well as stresstest, so you can simulate ammo/sulfur consuption, then save bluprints and buildem in career mode.
Also thanks for the brawler inspiration from past video, it is booring to use beams or railguns or missiles early-mid game, but shildless brawler, thats neat! Speed becomes critical for catching those fastmooving little snipers. And with speed and increased power consumtion comes crew management

A funny thing I saw was ships with armor behind and in _front_ of the shield. The idea being to shield the shield from EMP, using it only for attacks that can pen the 1st armor layer.

Oh Lath! I recently learned that rare resource asteroids are super common around stars! So if you've got a ship with shields that can be easily supplied to keep them powered, you can mine them! Either that or use a tractor beam ship to pull them out.

When you go into the blue print mode for building, the button in the bottom left, that puts you into mirror mode. If you right click that it'll bring up a menu with diagonal options. Loving the content so far, I really like your design.
Whenever I see games with building pieces with names like "2x1 corner", I know Lath will pick it up and build something that looks awesome with it.

If i remember right:
With the walkway = 125% movespeed
Across the walkway = 75% movespeed
Against the walkway = 50% movespeed
So if you plan it out it's really worth, even if your crew has to go across them sometimes
200% with, 25% against, 75% across.
I grap the demo of this game years ago and watching you play has made me buy and start playing again

The large shields work with a “line of sight” system, that is, if it is blocked by anything else before getting to its projection range it will not appear in that area. Smaller shields do not suffer from the same problem.
Actually, making a list of things to take care of when moving seems like a wise idea. Notes and reminder popups are basically how I avoid utterly failing at life under even the best of circumstances! 😂
Being able to grab sections then cut and move pieces aside is handy in building.
I imagine the "Malal's Wrath" charging into every battle with a mighty Battlecry "i am still relevant!" ;-P

that unknown signal with three ship had a small cache with ressources that they guarded.
once you can see it, the map marker disappears, but the cache itself will remain untill you salvage it.
...or accidently blow it up, like mine tend to do while fighting the ships without micromanaging.

You don´t need doors at your engines if they are connected directly with a engine-room. The engine-room will move power for you, this way your crew does not need to give power directly to your engines

Been watching Avack's playthrough and you may want to follow his idea of calculating the number of crew is required to run things and how many to supply them to get better efficiency
i can see a Dragon Head in top part of your ship outline (see ingame bottom left window)
now that's a theme for the ships ;)
Just something to note, to disable a ship you don't have to destroy the reactor, you can instead destroy the command room. Doing this prevents the large reactor explosion which would take out a lot of potentially valuable salvage, it's almost always more beneficial (and usually no more difficult) to aim for the command rooms instead of the reactors if you can.

A good design you could do for the factory ship is a lady bug typed shape, seeing as it would have a lot of storage and a lady bug shape seems like it would go well with that
if you right click on the mirror button you can choose witch way it mirrors.
and if you select your ship and than press the top richt button of the bottom left interface you can change the flight direction.
Hey lath your weapon's main advantage is that they can fire behind armor, you can stack tons of armor in front of them, I would suggest removing the large shield and replacing it with armor and at the very mouth of the ship you can either readd you large shields or placee a small shield
I find it funny all this stratagizing for taking down and understanding shields, when I the fool when caught in a stalemate with another shielded ship opted to ram into them point blank so I could ignore their shield and break them since we were equally matched and going to fight forever

I’m more worried about the G L A S S part of that.
Fewer large thrusters are generally more efficient than more small ones. You should replace to the next larger vice adding another small one. Also, medium and large reactors are much better than smalls because the cells they make left the crew carry more power per trip (two and three cells per trip respectively).

You can enable a larger build grid in the mod menu,there is a vanilla mod that enables lager ship building
What would be awesome is the side armour, you had the beam lasers coming out at an angle having them "focus" on a single point, like an upside down V

This is super cool ane unlike your longer videos (which I still absolutely love) i can watch it sometime other than at night before bed.
Been enjoying the series quite a bit. You could lean into the insect theme and call the primary craft the Locust of Malal, though I suppose that would be more apt for some sort of swarm craft.
I think instead of two ammunition stocks, it would be better to have two ammunition factories and two sulphur stocks on your main ship.
1. Stocked ammunition can blow up huge.
2. Factories can produce more ammunition quick enough and in more quantity then you can stock.
3. Also less huge explosion with a factory hit.
also some weapons like the deck guns and the twin heavy laser weapon have a firing mode to fire either barrel separately or all at once~
A tip for any readers including lathland, but my tests have concluded using a large shield an adjacent medium reactor (with at least 2 doors directly connected to the shield) and a dedicated crew who's whole job is to deliver energy to the shield allows the shield to become near invincible to non-EMP and is able to survive at least half way to the sun itself from the edge of the danger-zone
(layering multiple of these shields allowed me to literally TOUCH the suns surface.. RIP Solar Diver.. Died on a light touch with the sun)

i think you should create multiple craft based on different weapons! Like, you currently have a cannon craft. I think all the weapons are really fun to use, so you should also have an HE Missile craft, nuke craft, laser craft, ion craft! (Id also love to see you struggle with and hopefully succeed in fighting as a fleet)

game just added 3x1 armour and structure wedges also intersections of armour and structure pieces where but are as a in between on the same tile for all wedge variants.
an idea i have for a future ship, make a long bulky "Battleship" with deck-guns lining the sides so you can unleash enough rounds to detonate a star, and maybe a medium sized craft made just for producing and hauling that Battleships's ammo

By the way, the 'swarm' points are not exactly swarms, those are loot spots that are guarded by ships! There is a (hard to spot) cargo pod in the middle of that with some rare materials.
Though that pails in comparison with how much you can make by attacking and looting a trade station. Even saved a space station and sold lost cargo back to it!
Lastly I don't think you get less resources (or at least not by that much) when you utterly blow up a ship. You get reduced refunds when scraping ships one way or another. That's why you get notices of parts giving back reduced amounts when modifying a captured ship.
Especially on the preview, your ship looks a lot like a head for some giant insectoid capital ship. I think it would be interesting to try and add stuff on the back of it to slowly grow it into one, though it does seem rather inefficient.
that first kill took you from +386 to +372 corporate reputation. I would expect at least negative reputation before expecting any bounties
Could be interesting to model the storage/ manufacturing ship an amalgamataion of every station you destroy.
Kind of like the spacehulk.
Maybe you can make a sort of Hermit crab ship using mining lasers at 1x speed, one of those massive asteroids, and just rotating your ship in the correct sequence. It would be hellish while mining the asteroid, but it would mean that you’re invincible except for your weapons and where you drilled the starting hole from.
