Did you that Fernox will not sell you a replacement magnet assembly for their Filters, even if you have just installed a new one and dropped the magnet assembly breaking it making the filter useless, No you have to buy a complete new filter. What an excellent customer service policy.
The opposite end of the large plastic spanner used to slacken off the lid is what you use to remove the bottom drain off plug. Don’t need a separate ring spanner.
Hi, I would remove the o-rings and lube them before refitting or replace them. One in the top cover and one around your drain screw. And after the job is done, bleed the system. No matter how little, but you let the air in. Saying all this, I am not a plumber nor have I ever done this.
Very good video and tutorial and thanks for also showing us how to add the system protection additive using the Magnaclean as a way of filling the system. Much better way than injecting it via the radiator bleed screw?
Know it’s a old reply but in this vid he didn’t need to because he overfilled inhibitor which spilled out leaving no air trapped. Opening the air vent would have released no air and just inhibitor straight away.
Yes you vent on emptying and refilling to remove air (oxygen) that contributes to corrosion. No oxygen no corrosion. I fitted auto air vents on radiators prone to trapping air though best solution is no leaks. I would recommend a new boiler. If that one is 65% efficient you would expect a new one to repay itself in 5 to 8 years.

Apart from not checking for non-ferrous material, good work. Gives me confidence to have a go at mine.

He didn't remove the air first !
Thanks for the tip? Was going to look through my tool box to see if I had a 14mm spanner? LOL!!!

You forgot to clean out the non ferrous particle capture part at the bottom of the plastic sleeve. It comes off by a quarter turn.
Unfortunately he was found dead with his organs missing
Good on ya mate. 👍🇬🇧🏆

Excellent, thank you
I just spent 10 minutes trying to pull all the crap off before I realised it's a plastic sleeve over the magnet... Wish I watched the whole video.
wow 40 years old boiler ,i bought a 5 year old grant combi that was leaking from the rusty water storage tank (still have the photos)
My Worcester Bosch lasted 25 years before dying. I thought I’d done well.
Do you not vent the top nut before switching the heating back on.
yes you should.
