I loved how Cruz stood up to Eshan. It was obvious how he would maltreat the beautiful and endearing Aaliyah. She and Cruz brought out the best in each other. Their relationship was real and genuinely loving, not just superficial.

I think there was a hint of setup for a reveal that it had been Aliyah's mom all along who was the true brains of the operation.
If her mom has the opportunity to assume official authority, she will seek vengeance and the stakes will be higher. The US government realizing the flawed Intel and the new circumstances will recruit Cruz again despite the tougher risks. Meanwhile, already having lost her father, Aaliyah will be bound in the worst conflict of interests. Mourning her father knowing Cruz, who she loved, was involved and torn between avenging her father and protecting Cruz from her mother

everyone forgets she just slaughtered her father in his under ware and the fiancé.. she just signed her death warrant for bringing a killer and the US gov right in the middle a of a sacred event.. but hey.. love wins right ..?

Clearly the best show of 2023. The connection between audience and main characters is brilliance. Not only do you feel what each character is going through, but you also get an understanding of the social, political and economic ramifications that define their actions. It is not all the time you have a show that places you in the center of everything. On to season 2.

Overall I liked the show. I had a hard time with Ep 2 and the Cruz beating. I didn’t much care for Joe after that. I’d watch a S2, but think we need more of Cruz and Aaliyah and how they deal with the aftermath of this. To me they were the heart of the show. It was devastating to see both of them shattered. But At least they are alive.

I suspect Aliyah's mom will be a big part of the story; that she'll take charge and seek to punish Cruz

I don't like Joe here too. Aaliyah could be doubt or give more love for Cruz we never knew, but plz don't kill their characters n their feelings on s2

I really liked the ending and would love for it to continue in S2. Cruz is very sympathetic and I want her to find some measure of peace at some point, particularly as it relates to her relationship with Joe as her pseudo mentor. For S2, I would like to see some reconciliation there as well as much more action scenes like the ones in ep 8. That Cruz fight was epic in a way that seemed believable, but also very deadly.
I'm surprised and very glad that Aaliyah survived. She's an incredibly charming character that fits perfectly with Cruz. Im also surprised I came to care so much about their relationship. I feel sorry that things ended the way that they did, but with her being alive there's a chance her character could show up later and we can have closure with that storyline. After all, Cruz just quit. If they need her for anything later, I dont doubt they can leverage information on Aaliyah's wellbeing for Cruz's participation.

    @boba6890 Год назад +10

The last episode of Lioness was great, the relationship between Cruz and Aaliyah beautiful, yet their stories end tragically. Cruz rightly says in her fight with Joe that Aaliyah was a good/decent person; all that they did was radicalize her and create the next generation of terrorists. Aaliyah's fiancé Ehsan deciding to fight Cruz himself without his bodyguard was well set up. Ehsan slaps Cruz in the face, threatening to murder her in the sea. Cruz responds: "I'd like to see you try...(Cruz refers to the massive bodyguard)…"I suggest you bring 'Tons of Fun' if you do, because I could wipe the floor with your bony ass." When Ehsan speaks in Arabic about Aaliyah not opening her legs if Cruz goes; Cruz gives him a metaphorical kick to the groin: "Bet you she spends it with her legs closed anyway". This showed how tough and smart Cruz is. Cruz knows Ehsan can't handle her talking to him like this, meaning if he now comes after her he'll likely do it without his massive bodyguard specifically because Cruz said he can't possibly win a fight Without the bodyguard. (The exchange where Ehsan strikes Cruz occurs because Ehsan figured out that Aaliyah chose Cruz, a woman, over him, and he can't handle it). Upon learning Cruz is a Marine Ehsan should know not to confront her alone yet thanks to Cruz he's boxed in by his ego, injured pride, knowing that Aaliyah loves Cruz, and what Cruz said. If Ehsan brings his massive bodyguard "Tons of Fun" it proves Cruz is right, so he intends to prove her wrong by killing her himself. Cruz easily kills Ehsan. Ehsan has no chance against Cruz yet he's blinded by rage and feelings of inadequacy.
In contrast, Cruz's interaction with Aaliyah's father is very different and unsettling because he seems like a sweet man, and chances are in many ways he is. Aaliyah states that her father sells oil to the highest payer. The highest payers where Aaliyah's father does business are terrorists. While the US government and the CIA heads say Aaliyah's father is the biggest target since Bin Laden it's a poor comparison; he finances terrorist groups through oil sales but he doesn't plan terrorist attacks or kill anyone himself. Cruz knows this; (it's why she watches 8 hours of videos of terrorist attacks yet isn't persuaded that killing him is right). Cruz kills Ehsan in self-defense, but her killing Aaliyah's father is another matter entirely. Cruz knows that killing him is the whole point of her mission, and as a soldier she completes that mission, but since Cruz has a very strong moral compass on a personal level she feels that killing him is totally wrong as he's an older man who is essentially a civilian, not a soldier like her or an actual terrorist, let alone a terrorist mastermind, and it not only destroys Aaliyah, it increases terrorism; it's why this a breaking point for Cruz and she quits.

Not certain whether this is an original story made for television or adapted from a series of novels like the vast majority are these days. If adapted, the major players and major plot points are already set. If not,...
I think that it is very risky and probably illogical to bring back Cruz as anything much more than an advisor but they will if they also make it Aliyah's mom's singular mission to avenge her husband. Aaliyah will then be trapped, torn and conflicted. It will be unavoidable for Cruz.

I LOVED this series! I loved the family interaction. The way someone finally wrote that the child can be disciplined and loved. Those lines from dad at the hospital with the daughter were phenomenal. The writing for this series...BRAVO! I am so upset that it's over. It's like Homeland meets Seal Team with a feminine twist. Taylor S does it AGAIN!

I’ve been looking for just one comment ,positive comment on the family interaction. The conversation between dad and his daughter and also joe and the daughter I love very much. I liked how joe and her daughter sort of buried their feud and before then I like joe’s no nonsense approach to discipline...further more, I like that they humanized Joe,showing her as a vulnerable mother who loves her family despite always been away and how hard it can be to deal with it.

I found the finale disappointing in parts. I find it hard to believe a CIA operative (Cruz) would have a digital footprint online for Aaliyah's fiance to easily find. I would think the CIA would clean up any online information, especially her graduation photo from the navy. It was clear why she became a lioness from the start. 😏
Also, Aaliyah's father in the kitchen at the same time as Cruz. I thought the men and women were in separate areas of the wedding venue.
Eshan was a wimp after Cruz insulted him. 😂 Not so tough after all and didn't flow properly from the initial interrogation by him at the start. I loved Cruz and Aaliyah's romance. Heartbroken for them in the end. 💔 😢
It's not the finale I was expecting but a good show overall. 👌

    • @sevenohnine

In the real world, the lioness' social media trails would have been wiped by the government. In addition, if the government missed the data on the internet, the other side would have found it the first time they searched for her. This is clearly a weak excuse storyline for Cruz to kill the bastard fiance who previously hit her.

Absurd ending that insults the CIA's competency. How do you not scrub Cruz's photos online completely? The groom finds out she's a Marine and rushes to find her WITHOUT any security! LOL!!!! These security guys are good. The groom would have told them what he found, they would have woken her up and escorted her to a room to interrogate her quietly. If they would even have done that. I bet they would have just let her go and canceled the wedding. But that's too boring.
Only redeeming quality of the season finale was the actor who played the father and the knife scene. Really well done, shockingly. The actor should have played a bigger part in another role.

My theory is because the White House wanted Amrohi alive so much, they released the info on Cruz in an attempt to have her stopped by anyone who found it. Last ditch effort, only thing they could do since Caitlyn made sure the White House couldn’t intervene

Also, i'm surprised you didn't mention aliyah's reaction to the death of her fiancee and her father , I almost got the sense that she was in some way relieved. And there are a couple other things. When her identity was found out, I got the feeling she was set up Because clearly They did not find anything previously. I think that's a little Easter egg from the

I agreed that some of the past episodes were pretty lame although the season finale was good. The writerz need to write better script rather than injecting a nearly impossible storyline of Cruz's social media feed that in reality would have been scrubbed by the government. The scenes with the fiance could have been omitted and Cruz simply executed her mission as the opportunity presented itself. The other scene where Cruz attacked Joe did not make any sense since Joe is sort of a mentor to Cruz and she clearly care about her operative, and Cruz knows this. If there is a second season, Cruz is definitely off the team unless the writers don't know anything about being on such a team that deals with life-and-death scenario. In anycase, I was never a fan of the side stories that seem to be fomulated into the current storyline for TV shows. They are jsit distraction to stretch out the episodes and waste everyone time, especially .... me, the viewer. This whole season could have been a great 2-hour movie, or a 3-episode TV movie but ....

I don't agree with the critic's statement. I'm glad that things were disturbing (abuse, racism, etc.) they're supposed to be. I think it was some of the best series writing in a long time. The digital footprint wasn't believable unless the writers purposely planted that as a set up for S2. Then it would make sense that maybe Nicole Kidman's husband purposely did it... someone in the government so they could prevent the assassination. But that's yet to be seen. (I find it interesting that men get so upset when they're represented in the stereotypical mysoginistic role but it's okay for the woman to show all her body to work undercover.)
