What a great video, thank you both. I'm a researcher, including being published on vitamin D research. I found out how critical Hormone D is years ago and it changed my life. I only knew because I was working within the literature on the topic.
Wow that's indredible @churchofinfiniteknowledge1608 I'm curious to know - how did discovering this change your life? Did you begin supplementing more or getting outside more? Would love to learn...
@@howtonotgetsickanddiepodcast One obvious change was I basically never get sick with flu and cold any more. Even covid (tested positive) was nothing for my system. I learned how important D was in 2012. It also helped tremendously with my autism challenges and life-long nervous system disorders.
@@churchofinfiniteknowledge1608 thanks for sharing - so interesting that it impacted you on all those levels. Interestingly, I've never worked with a client that I didn't want to put on a Vit D supplement because going outside is better but they're almost never going to do it enough due to work/life requirements.

I have all the symptoms of low vit D and I always test low for it. However when ever I try to take it, it makes me so tired I literally cannot function. I have tried everything I have taken it with vit k, I take vit 3. I know it's not just me I have researched it and there are a lot of people who go through this but no one is asking why this happens. My diet is clean and I do not eat hardly any sugar or processed food. Please if anyone can help with this, please let me know.
@redmoon8217 this sounds super frustrating epesically because you probably want to take vitamin D for all the health benefits. Question: do you take D3 as K2 complex? or do you take straight vitamin D3? And when you say a clean diet, can you elaborate some more?
@@howtonotgetsickanddiepodcast Hi, I am not taking it at the moment because it just gives me horrible fatigue. Yes I took D3 and I tried it on its own and K2 both in combination and separate. My diet is lots of fruit and vegetables. I eat fish but not meat. Occasionally I will make a treat from scratch where I will use some sugar but not often.
@@darlin1951 I have tried it in the morning and the evening. Same thing happens. It's like I have been drugged, it's not so much the next day as the day after. I have researched it and it happens to other people too.
@@redmoon8217 I think the absence of an entire protein rich food group will have some kind of unhelpful impact so adding meat will likely help in some way. Additionally, fish is some of the worst protein you can find unless it;s wild caught due to fish farms and how disgusting and small they are. Most fish is farmed and horrifically nutrient deficient as a result - they're even contemplating removing the advertising or messaging (in the EU) that salmon is no longer a good source of healthy fats due to them being so nutrient deficient. All of this to say that it's likely something is missing from the fish and with the absence of meat.. is that the cause of the improper processing D3, I do not know.

I guess podcasts can be like that sometimes given they're curiosity driven conversations. Having said that Stasha has plenty of highly scientific and very long podcasts getting into the nitty gritties of the science, especially with Mike at @highintensityhealth Loosely speaking though B5 is required for the synthesis of a handful or hormones and neurotransmitters including: acetylcholine, cortisol and melatonin. Meaning there is a 2 phase issue with the stress response and the inability to produce melatonin sufficiently. There's obviously so much more...
Watch her other long podcast where she goes into the b5 part more/ most 50 with the B50 pill will work but a few need more b5 if they still have burning hands and feet and she eases it up 5 at a time
@@lmyers9999 yeah I watched a lot of those in my research for this conversation. She has a wealth of content on the internet - the episodes with Mike Mutzel over at High Intensity Health are great!
@@lmyers9999 I watched it too. But try asking her how much B5 to take and her staff just want you to sign up to her sleep program. It's basically a long winded sales pitch.
And D does also control thyroid hormones which regulate metabolism - it all works in concert and if there is not enough iodine- the thyroid is SOL as it needs iodine to make thyroid hormones to increase metabolism in reaction to D’s orders to increase
@@lmyers9999 I think what you're illustrating is that it is more complex than can be captured in just 1 podcast episode which is absolutely true - it can be difficult to talk about all sides of the equation given there are so many, and then we introduce the state of the farming/agricutlural industry which is getting closer and closer to having soils that are totally depleted of nutrients, iodine being just one of those that are lacking.
Oh for sure there is always a protein conversation to be had when it comes to the dietary aspect of many things. Are you more the protein leverage hypothesis or more of the blood sugar, insulin and low carb ... Or, both? haha

supplementing works as far as I can tell, but going outside seems to work better

Very tangential. Was there ever a full thought formed on b5 and how it may affect sleep?

fantastic woman indeed!
I totally agree! Can I ask, what did you enjoy about this episode?
Eating two popcorns also has to do with the fact that carbs don’t satiate/ and is not as simple as D/bs
And D does also control thyroid hormones which regulate metabolism - it all works in concert and if there is not enough iodine- the thyroid is SOL as it needs iodine to make thyroid hormones to increase metabolism in reaction to D’s orders to increase
Iodine is also a factor- the soil is depleted etc
