They almost look like American Dolly Varden or Brook trout but I guess they are a small Brown. Beautiful either way even if they're small. You took us on a nice little creek hopping adventure Thanks👍👍
You still fished downstream, walk up the stream, then on way back hit those fast water pools for a second chance. The fish can see you the way you’re approaching. Good luck Mate!
Looks a lovely place to fish. Some beautiful fish you had there the colour of the adipose fin on some of the trout was stunning. Tight lines for the next trip. 😊
Really enjoyed that George. Lovely little bit of water. Bargain for a tenner. Mellow background music and even a new shorty summer haircut . Trout sit and wait for food to float downstream so if you fish upstream...certainly when fly fishing they have much less chance to see you and tve food is presented more naturally . Ive caught fishing down and up tho
Thanks a lot for watching mate really glad you enjoyed the video! Really cool spot isn’t it 👍 and yes I recently had my annual hair cut 😂 will be back to cave man status before too long haha
Those are BROWN TROUT. Brook Trout have blue halos around smaller red dots while the Brown Trout have bigger BLACK dots. The lower fins on a Brookie are VERY pronounced (white). The whole color scheme is different as well: Brown Trout are dark spots on LIGHTER skin and Brook Trout have yellow spots on DARKER skin.
I agree with you there. I live 30m north of Pittsburgh, and the heat has been ridiculous. Some days were only a few degrees from hitting 100F. Not used to heat like this. I'll be happy when it gets milder again after a few years.
@@braddofner I love when people pretend it doesn’t get hot. Live in Hersey Pa. the past 42 years. It hasn’t been any hotter or cooler than usual. What a lovely little stream to fish. You didn't seem to follow the "fish upstream" advice too closely though . The reason it's often more successful is that trout most of the time will face upstream especially if there's a hatch of flies on . Casting from behind them ,if you're not too close , will mean that you are practically in their blind spot. Do give it a try.
Definitely walk upstream so you'll be less likely to spook trout that are holding in areas of current. But also cast up stream, not down steam as you keep doing as it's not a natural presentation, the trout expect prey to be flowing down towards them to pick off on the way past. That stream reminds me of the section of river my family owns in Scotland just down from a rather famous Spey area distillery, that isn't fished either.Similar sized little browns with the odd 750g specimen. My farm's small river in the Tablelands of NSW produces much larger trout overall, all averaging 750g-3kg and occasionally larger again.

Nice video and good place to explore. Just ordered a fishrig180 actually for trout and perch etc going to be using it with some light braid to fluerocarbon on, how do you usually attach your leader to the braid ? Any particular knot or a tiny swivel ? I tried fishing upstream the other day with some mepps spinners and did quite well to be fair. However I am no expert I just enjoy being out fishing. I find I usually catch trout in fast shallow runs with my spinner. I used a blue fox single hook spinner which was great but definitely not as good as a treble for hooking up but I liked how easy unhooking the fish was. I also bought a salmo sinking minnow and floating bullhead the other day. I fished downstream in some deep slack waters on my local river which I’m a member of the club but I blanked. Have you got any advice ? I want to fish more rivers too. Don’t get me wrong the Calder that I fish is nice but I want to explore more rivers. I am going to join another club I think. How do you go about finding out whether a stretch of river is okay to fish or not ? The last thing I wanna do is get my tackle confiscated. I know a few day ticket waters near me but it’s a big wide river the ribble but I want to fish more streams like this video. Thanks mate
Were North American Brook Trout (brookies) introduced over there? I think they were. Have you ever caught any? They are very similar to your native char (technically they are char).
Great to see you catch but a word of warning to anyone spinning please check with the club / landowners first as this method is often regarded as a poacher tactic and having to explain to some large angry bailiff or club members what you are doing can land you in very hot water
😂 well you mainly only see the casts that result in fish, so maybe casting downstream is better! Many pools only accessible from the top on this one too 👍
@@adventurefishinguk yeah, thats why you never take advice from anybody that hasnt fished the same water, in the same conditions, and with the same gear. even then, its a 50/50 chance that theyve got it right. at best.

Thanks mate
What sort of crayfish ? A dead one ! lol
I must be the only person to try and fish these small streams and fail to ever catch a fish… just catch lures on rocks due to it being shallow😂
dang, i would have panned for gold lol
Do you think there could be gold in a stream like this? Thanks for watching!
You asked what kind of a crayfish it was, well I would say its a dead crayfish lol😅
Could that spring have been recently restocked with juvenile trout?
great ....wats ur rod and reel ....
All the details are in the description below!
When will the RR3000 spinning reel be restocked?
Hopefully a couple of weeks mate!
@@adventurefishinguk Il be keeping an eye out, cheers for getting back bud. Keep up the good work
Freshwater crawfish
Thanks for watching!
What lure did you use in this video please George?
Were North American Brook Trout (brookies) introduced over there? I think they were. Have you ever caught any? They are very similar to your native char (technically they are char).
Great to see you catch but a word of warning to anyone spinning please check with the club / landowners first as this method is often regarded as a poacher tactic and having to explain to some large angry bailiff or club members what you are doing can land you in very hot water
Thanks for watching and for the information, better to be safe than sorry!
"I'm going to take your advice and fish upstream'
Spends whole day casting downstream.
😂 well you mainly only see the casts that result in fish, so maybe casting downstream is better! Many pools only accessible from the top on this one too 👍
@@adventurefishinguk yeah, thats why you never take advice from anybody that hasnt fished the same water, in the same conditions, and with the same gear. even then, its a 50/50 chance that theyve got it right. at best.
What lures are you using
10quids? that is dirt cheap, in my country ,sweden ,in the southernmost part you pay a lot more for a similair stream, brooklet a lot more
He didn’t actually want paying and was happy for me to fish but I always like to make a contribution! Thanks for watching 👍
I think that's a dead crayfish, hope that helped
Haha yes that does help! Thanks for watching 👍
What is your accent? My neighbour (here in Australia) has the same accent and I'm gonna use it as a conversation starter somehow
I would guess he's North West England.
I'm between Manchester and Preston and he wouldn't sound out of place around here.
I think he's said he's from Lancashire, which doesn't narrow it down much but it's the right region.
Lancastrian born and bred I think! I bet your mate is called Dave...😬
Lancaster born but Cumbria raised for the most part! Thanks for watching!
@adventurefishinguk hello fellow Cumbrian ✋️
