To solve all this is to create more superteams. Put Wall on the Pelicans. Add Chris Paul to the Spurs. Or Gordon Hayward on Celtics. PG on Bucks.
Silent Noise
Hayward + Paul George to the Celtics would be interesting.
Silent Noise send some stars to the Rockets and I'll be good lol
cbenji07 maybe y'all can get Russ and Harden to team Up.
Silent Noise pretty much, but with different guys tied to different contracts and therefore being unable to leave and join up all at once, it's not a terribly easy process. Plus re-signing with your current team always nets you a lot more $$$, so it's highly unlikely these guys would sacrifice that money to try and compete for rings. As a fan, though, I want to see more competition. No one in the West can compete with a team that has 4 all stars. No one in the East has more than 2 all stars while the Cavs have 3. What made the 90s interesting was that even though Jordan was so dominant, no team throughout the decade ever had 3 stars, so it felt like everyone at least had a chance. Barkley+KJ, Penny+Shaq, Payton+Kemp, Jordan+Pippen, Stockton+Malone. There were a lot of insane 1-2 punches and good 60-win teams throughout the decade. With the recent trends towards the two superteams, no one else really has a shot unless they also have a superteam. The NBA won't have parity again until Lebron and the Warriors core exits their primes.
Hayward and Griffin to Washington. Wall Beal Hayward Griffin Gortat? Porter and Morris and Bogdanovic off the bench? that would be interesting AF. Probably 0% chance of this happening, but this is possible since both are FA's and they might be favorites in the East.
so because Whitlock is bored. everything is ruined?
Faheem Abbas Whitlock is boring
i'ts like saying Jordan ruined the NBA in the 90's...or the Lakers ruined the NBA in the early 2000's...please. Domination is needed to create better competition!!
Diogo Ferreira W
Diogo take this W
lakers had legitimate competition in the west in the early 2000's the spurs kings and portland could have won a title also
No they had really good competition
Marquis Taylor don't forget the pistons in Detroit early 2000 prime chauncy billups
they didn't say that when the pistons went to 5 straight ecf
Joseph Wiley nobody complained about how "weak" the east was then. Nets heat and Detroit for 5 years
JOtrey7 right
JOtrey7 not that I support the ruin argument but the East has been weak for years now. The only season they had a winning record over the West was 2009. The West has won more championships too since 2000
Joseph Wiley Yea they did. The Spurs/Pistons Finals was the least watched in decades.
bigcuz9286 The Cavs/Spurs final was the least watched ever
It blows my mind that Whitlock actually makes the conscious decision to wear that fedora. Awful, just awful.
Watch hockey. That's where you'll find exciting competition.
Why do they never talk about hockey? Hockey is actually interesting and not terrible like basketball.
Its so weird how Colin moves his mouth in sync when someone else is talking.
Shaq/Kobe Lakers had crazy tough series against the Spurs, Blazers and Kings, the West was no joke, getting to the Finals was no cakewalk
aepr84 and magics Lakers had a West cakewalk nobody holds it against them
+Aaron Mcclure MJ also didnt beat any juggernauts in the Finals
It was 2000 or 2001; the Lakers are the only team to go 16-1 to win it all. Only loss was to AI who scored 48 pts. Biggest cakewalk ever.
im a huuuge Lakers fan but i cant deny that....Portland was old and imploding....Kings were not ready yet and Duncan got hurt but i was talking about 2000 championship not 2001
i was more speaking in general about how everyone says the playoffs this year is boring like there hasn't been a team that has dominated their conference before.
Thank god this Cavs/Warriors era is over.
I hate when old guys like Whitlock talk about everything being "bad" or "boring", like dominating just started. Every decade since 1980 was dominated the same way. 1980s Lakers 5, Boston 3, Pistons 1, Philly 1. 1990s Bulls 6, Pistons 1, Houston 2, Spurs1. 2000s Lakers 5, Spurs 3, Heat 1, Pistons 1. 2010s so far Dallas 1, Heat 2, Cavs 1, Spurs 1, Warriors 1. Notice the pattern?
All I'm saying is if the Warriors lose the finals, Black Twitter is gonna go NUCLEAR on Kevin Durant.
Frandy Brown True indeed, and I shall partake in this with great fury. But fr tho, he gotta be suspended if they lose. Naw, the whole team has to be banned for a year
Plsss get rid of whitlock.
2017 Playoffs haven't been that bad in my opinion, We've had some great series
Grizzlies vs. Spurs was a great series
Rockets vs. OKC was a good series
Cavs vs Pacers was a good series(Even though Cavs swept the games were close)
Jazz vs. Clippers was a great series
Bulls vs. Celtics was an ok series
Wizards vs. Hawks was an ok series..
*YOU GET MY POINT?????* People call it boring because they know that Cavs and Warriors will be in the finals again and I don't really see how that's a bad thing.. the finals are gonna be epic this year. Might go 7 games again.
I honestly think most of the people in the youtube comments are smarter when it comes to sports than Whitlock
Best players on best teams go to war!
Chris is so good and objective!
Boring people gets bored - Klay Thompson
colin has a metaphor for everything... literally everything.
The Cavs sweep the Eastern Conference: East is weak
The Warriors sweep the Western Conference: West is tough
Lebron passes up the ball to an open teammate: He's scared to shoot
The Warriors pass up the ball to open teammates: Good ball movement
Lebron asks for a playmaker: Lebron needs all the help
Warriors players recruit Kevin Durant: They are so unselfish
Lebron joins a 47 win team: Lebron sucks and can't win on his own
Kevin Durant joins a 73 win team: Warriors fit his playstyle and has the right to sign where he wants
Cavs draft Lebron, Kyrie Irving and Tristan Thompson. 3/5 of their starting lineup and 2/3 of their all stars: Their team is too stacked
Warriors draft Steph, Klay and Draymond. 3/5 of their starting lineup and 3/4 of their all stars: The Warriors built their roster the right way
Warriors blew a 3-1 lead to the Cavs: The NBA is rigged
OKC blew a 3-1 lead to the Warriors: The NBA is Fair and Square
People really find anything to hate on Lebron
dolomite Rydah THANK YOU
dolomite Rydah that quote from undisputed though lmao
Facts
I'm a huge MJ fan and love what Lebron is doing late in his career. I hope Lebron bends Draymond over his knee and spanks him in the finals
there is a difference cause both rockets and spurs maybe someway even better than cavs, while the celtics and wizards are trash to these two teams
"Soccer doesn't extend its brand." Are you serious? When the season ends, there's the cup finals, the Champions League final, potentially international tournaments, and transfer rumors
hes ignorant
Broussard is spot on as always!!
I dont like how they completely dismiss the spurs
spurs might not beat the rockets the series is not over yet
Andy22
The Spurs are not the Spurs anymore....
No Duncan, No Parker, & honestly No Ginobly (just too old)
Same here
Semion Johnson Spurs are still going to beat the Houston Rockets in the series.
I do think more competition is better. But, the ones that are to blame are those weak teams for not being good, not on those who figure out ways to win. at least the staff and managers
Colin make the same arguments on speak for yourself that he does on the Herd, lmao. he even used the same analogy
YES HE DOES. SPITS ALL OVER THE PLACE.
Thank you glasses man. The only popular media guy that is honest about Jordan retirement
i know he didn't try comparing starbucks to the golden state warriors
Jason Whitlock makes skip Bayless look like a genius
We just need more Super Teams! Tbh, if the playoffs were filled with all Super Teams, that'd be exciting af to watch.
Now u see how the white people felt in the 60's when Bill Russell won like 11 rings lmao 😂😂😂
Kambui Bomani lmao good one 😋😎
I honestly think if there was more evened out teams instead of 2-4 superstars it would be amazing for basketball
First place ANYWHERE where I've seen actual opinions in both the content and comments, not just people repeating general media BS.
thats why the League needs to contract, better teams no weaklings
These comment sections are a straight Whitlock roast lol
Imagine if there were no Warriors to counter balance the Cavs or vice versa. Now that would of been a boring playoff season.
the problem with the NBA is not that two teams are dominating the league. It's the way top players flock to the top couple of teams to chase rings, leaving other teams esp small market teams unable to compete. When the top players band together to form a superteam there is no level playing field. Players in the "other" teams lose motivation to compete because they aren't going to the finals anyways so why bother? It's a chain reaction that will lead to a 2-team league and people will get bored very quickly
This is history guys, enjoy it.
they are not ruining it, they just do not have enough competition who are brave enough to step up.
Always get ads on this but not on any other RUclipsrs so is this a mainstream media thing??
Well, the warriors started it when they acquired another superstar to strengthen their line up almost eliminate competition today. we all know that big 3 have been around even before this era started. this era adopted the big 3 but warriors adding another superstar is a major major moved for trying to surpass the big 3 by assembling a super team. we never heared of the term super team until DURANT joined the warriors this season.
Along with open seeding they need to get rid of certain teams. There should be 24 teams in the league. That way every game is competitive. And it doesn't matter where you go because it's stacked on all teams
If you want to end super teams, end free agency. Just don't pretend you're on the players' side when you want them stuck with whoever drafted them their whole careers whether they like it or not.
Because two teams are dominant in the playoffs doesn't mean the playoff is ruined.
never understand the Whitlock hate. love the dude
Why is no one mentioning how KD destroyed two great match ups out West? Spurs-Thunder and Larriors-Thunder
Col Conno they were up 3-1 in the WCF on the Warriors...
what did he do? sign with another team?
What rule did that break?
I saw the Spurs/Rockets both beat the Warriors this year..dont assume it wont happen again.
cbenji07 don't matter
Russell Westbrook Fan since 2010 KD is a good guy. Even when he's supposed to be a good guy ppl already decided to hate Lebron so KD gets the pass. GSW are the likable entertaining team
cbenji07 They were never going to win that series. Even us fans in OKC knew that.
The playoffs aren't boring, just the series that gsw or cle are in. The other series are entertaining, but its still depressing to know no one has a change to beat them.
Also wth is colin talking about starbucks???
It shows in their ratings, fewer people watching the games, fewer buying jerseys, fewer going to the arenas. *NFL ratings meanwhile through the roof*
wait till the finals. gonna have record numbers in ratings
1 day high ratings, 364 days, *No rating*
Supernova12034 no ratings. what does making stupid false statements get you?
Blowouts aren't necessarily boring. What's boring is when teams give up the fight & stop competing mid series. You saw this with Cleveland vs. Pacers/Raptors....where your star players are bowing down to Lebron or being disloyal to their teammates.
Every team the Warriors have played has competed and fought till the end. They never said to themselves "Oh if we had Lebron or KD we would have won too."
Looking at you Derozan.
CP3 needs to go to spurs Hayward needs to go to Boston PG13 needs to go to the wizards
I think it's great! NBA finals trilogy awesome time to be alive. #Enjoy Greatness 👊
cavs win lebrons the goat, warriors wins lebron is now old and has no HELPS
Whack
DoodPool ur right , 4/5 Allstars in ur starting 5 makes it like that , teams have been making big 3's for years warriors decided to make it a big 4 , and not compete , its crazy how NBA fans are smart and only warriors fans don't get what their team is doing lol , u add Kevin Durant to a team that won best regular season wins record last yeAr and choked in finals so they form a super team bigger then any formed before they might as well add another all star so they start 5/5 Allstars next year if they lose in the finals with Durant
to a degree yes their should be a limit to 2 allstar max per team so stuff like this doesn't happen have 4-5 starters who are all stars what do you expect other teams to do?
If it wasn't for my love of the Spurs since birth I wouldn't even watch the NBA because of super teams
I wish social media was around during the 80s and 90s.......some of those views that's stuck in folks heads wouldn't be the same in my opinion.
First round was interesting but the 2ne round has been sad
Everyone's complaining about Warriors ruining the NBA, Cavs destroy the east 7 years in a row and Lebron is amazing and the face of the NBA and doing everything like angel.
Jason Whitlock just be makin stuff up smh
The main problem with the NBA Playoffs is that there is a bigger differential in talent between Golden State and San Antonio than there is between San Antonio and Memphis.
The same can be said about there being a bigger gap between Cleveland and Boston than there is between Boston and Chicago.
The playoffs are boring and lack any type of suspense when we all know what will happen.
if you guys want better games and more competition make a rule where each team can only have one max contract player
Why that man got on all that makeup lol
lets argue if bolt ruined the sprinting competitions
If there were 2 super teams per conference and one wild card in each then we would not be complaining. We just have to stack more teams. The game is in the hands of Paul George, Jimmy, Blake, CP3 and others ...
I agree with Colin here except for his small aside about soccer being one of those sports that doesn't "extend the brand" maybe MLS sure but real soccer never really has an off season and what little off time they do have in the summer (when there isn't an intl tournament) there's tons of buzz about summer transfers.
Whats more boring is waiting for Whitlock to lose his job. Seriously. He is so annoying AF that I have to comment here. I dont do this very often.
"Making super teams is cheating"
If you're the GM of a team, isn't your goal to put together the best team you possibly can and win a championship?
Whitlock is definitely a Charles Barkley clone!
It seems its not the fault of KD and Lebron yet maybe some of these guys in the NBA don't belong there. It's time to start scouting talent of undrafted kids and maybe even kids who never went to college cause these players are wack man and i know it's better talent out there but it's all politics
Its like why even watch when you know who's going to the finals anyway.
More superstars need to team up to create more competition
3:27 bruh the east was weaker than the west but who you think the Lakers had to go through to get to the playoffs. Sacramento, portland, trail blazers , etc. West was strong af back in the day
the Cleveland and Gsw are rivalry for sure and the sweeping is to tell you that they still want to meet in the finals. 👥👥👥👥👥👥
Yes it is a rivalry between the two best teams
Whitlock actually talking sense what is happening
'soccer' does extend the brand and season. when the season ends, the transfer window opens...
the NFL doesn't have teams meeting in 3 straight super bowls due to the high level competition and their at the top of sports
The best way to summarize why those two teams are dominating the NBA so much is because they have the most top 20 players in the league on their teams. The Warriors arguably have 4 of them while the Cavs have arguably 3 of them. The next best is probably the Clippers with Paul & Griffin. After that though, no team probably has arguably 2 top 20 players on their teams because each of them probably has just 1 (if any at all). Consequently, no team comes close to those two teams in terms of pure talent leading to why no one is really surprised seeing this happen because we all saw it coming once Durant left for Golden State.
This is just American sports copying the European soccer teams like Real Madrid an Barcelona. It gives the attention the the sponsor not the fans. It's bad for competitive sport. New rules should be put into effect on signing players for the minimum and salary manipulation. It's not fair overall.
pacquaio v mayweather? its more like paqcuiao v marquez...
1st fight: Cavs had too many injuries, that's why they lose
2nd fight: GSW could have won easily but they CHoked..
3rd fight: both teams are healthy and stacked! Repeat vs Revenge
#Trilogy
#Rivalry
You want to see dominance watch the Cavs or Warriors games; you want some competitive games watch Houston/San Antonio and Celtics/Wizards. How can anyone be bored?
How is going to 7 games with the Knicks and Pacers "overstated"? I swear the revisionist history going on in these shows is ridiculous!!
Whitlock trying to find something to complain about. Just appreciate the greatness.
soccer doesnt extend its brand ? Summer transfers is one of the most enterntaining aspects of soccer
I wanted OKC and the Folden State to go at it.
it's funny how when lebron only had a superteam nobody said nothing.
uhm yes they did... literally all of them did.
DETROITFRESH you can't compare the teams. Kyrie only got more recognition after last season and KLove is an on/off player. You definitely can't compare their defences either lol LeBron is the difference maker
Tee Williame lebron don't make no one better stop looking at ESPN. Kyrie and Love was already great before lebron Wade and Bosh was already great before lebron. the roll players was either good or great before lebron. He benefits from being with them. His numbers the only one who goes up , they numbers were better without him
DETROITFRESH smfh, lebron makes Jr, tristan, Channing, Jefferson, dellavedova better. And that's just from these cavs teams. There are more players from his Heat teams, and his early cavs teams. Smh he makes a lot of people better.
DETROITFRESH lmfao are u dumb or stupid kid? They destroyed him on media... god kids like u who just started watching know 0
bring back the 90's
raul arosemena no thanks. If I wanna see physicality, I'll wait till September
Back when Jordan played you had more than 5 elite/better than average teams in the league. Each team brought a different strength to the table, so you could tolerate seeing different teams end up in the finals (playing the bulls). The NBA now is so top heavy that, you wouldn't even want to see anyone else play besides the cavs n warriors in a 7 games series finals.
I don't think it's ruining the playoffs for the whole world, but it has certainly lost its flavor for me personally. I have no interest in any of the games that have been played in any of round two, I'm not at all interested in any of the conference championships, and I have less than zero interest in watching the same two teams play in the finals for the third, fourth, fifth, sixth straight year. Some of these players on other teams need to have better jersey sales so we can see different teams be successful.
Warriors drafted 3 of their big 4s and they cheated? None of the three guys, Steph Klay and Draymond, were considered having huge potential in their draft. Warriors built their own team, they made it better instead of trying to get other super stars to join.
"LeBron jumped from team to team to team" He's been on 2 franchises in his 14 year career. The one that drafted him, and the one he left (my team) to go back to the one that drafted him.
Quit acting like he jumped to Boston after they beat him, or the Spurs after they beat him, or... GSW after they beat him... like... someone... else.
The NBA has always been top heavy this is nothing new. The 70's were the only decade when there wasn't no dominant team and nobody remembers much from that decade. 60's it was all celtics mostly beating the lakers every year, 80s lakers and celtics dominated, 90s Jordan dynasty, 2000s lakers and spurs, 2010s whatever team lebron is on and warriors. It's always been this way
Saeed Villanueva facts
Saeed Villanueva Alternative facts...
If there wasn't a Cavaliers, GSW would run away with it and vice versa. Be thankful we have two equally matched titans to watch and not some random average teams going on Cinderella runs.
I don't like dominance. I like winning. I wanna see Christmas day Warriors vs Cavs, the 2 relevant teams playing a competitive game. I like watching Warriors vs Thunder last year or Warriors vs Spurs (I'm a warriors fan). I don't like watching Warriors vs Blazers or Jazz, up 25 in the first quarter. There is a fine line between success and dominance.
Lebron James in 2011-2014, the eastern conference finals were interesting. He had battles with Paul George. The past 3 years, he has managed to coast through the ecf.
I will say, you can't be mad at the warriors for signing Durant, what nba team wouldn't?
Kevin Durant and LeBron are the modern day Magic and Bird.
I'm a warriors fan, but I imagine if you were a fan of ever other team besides the cavs and warriors, these playoffs would be insanely boring
let's all be real and honest here, the only interesting series in this year's playoffs is the match up of GSW vs CLE... like the guy said its the mayweather vs pacquiao, now the only question is who'll be mayweather and who'll be pacquiao??
jason L Cavs in 7
The NFL draft was 10x more exciting than the NBA playoffs this year
aaaaand another bad whitlock take that makes everyone groan
Well, imagine a team that beat one of these two teams? "One of the greatest underdog stories..."
Imagine those two teams in the finals, the two best teams in the NBA today, giving us an epic series that everyone will remember who has seen it?
This is what makes all sports interesting. You need heavy favorites, because then we will talk about dynasties or great underdog stories. If you have 8 teams that could win the title? Yeah, maybe interesting for the fans of those teams, but the rest of the world doesn´t care. We care about superstars playing against each other, and if a team with lesser talent rises to the top, we have the underdog story because those superstars have been beaten beforehand.
"Golden Era" dominated by Lakers/Celtics. "Michael could have won 8 titles in a row!" - How is that not boring?
To act as if the Warriors and Cavs are evenly matched to sell ratings for the Finals is so idiotic. Stop trying to set LeBron up for failure. The matchup was even BEFORE Durant came. Now it's lopsided.
