    Draymond Green is the key to beating the warriors. Take him out of the game and they'll lose. Best defensive player, guards the best wing on the other teams, best passer. Best decision maker. Emotional leader, Energy etc.

    So Shannon sharpe is going to act like the warriors aren't the number one team in defense? The warriors can shoot badly and still clamp you up and beat you....the warriors are showing that they can beat teams in multiple ways. They can outscore you, they can go to the paint, they can clamp you down defensively, play you physically etc ..... I think they can shoot bad and still beat the cavs or spurs just off of their defense.

    Let's get something clear: the Warriors reeeeeeeally dnt need KD for the first two rounds in the Western Conference. Will they need him for the Spurs (maybe the rockets)?...very likely. They'll certain need KD for the NBA Finals. But my point is....either way the Warriors are unstoppable on all cylinders when they wanna be..

  • @Commandosoap777
    @Commandosoap777 7 лет назад +58

    Again with this ? Make up ur damn mind one day they need him to make the finals the next they don't . Of course they are better with kd a top 2 player but without him the bench players step up because they had to smh it's common sense why do you think it's called "strength in numbers " .

    I've been saying this for months. McGee playing well is more important than Durant playing well for the Warriors.

    • @kaz7690
      @kaz7690 7 лет назад +1

      No

    • @exousia2002
      @exousia2002 7 лет назад

      Simple. Because GSW already has a potent offense in the original 72 win season. McGee is actually better than Bogut if he doesn't do boneheaded plays. This guy dunks, catches lobs, blocks shots and can do hook shots. Hence, golden states utility function is optimized by such a player. Durant is a great player, but GSW already had the top offense from last year. Durant gives them more offensive options, but every shot he takes there is 1 less for Curry who has a effective 60+% FG and Klay. Durant has good defense, but GSW needs center defense even more. See how many small guards attack Zaza as though he is not even there? They don't versus McGee.

    Warriors are just zoned in more defensively when KD's not there b/c they know they're not gonna get his 30 points. That's why they blew Portland out. Warriors need KD to win a ring.

    If Durant played, the blowout would be by an equal or greater margin. People just like to forget about the bench production of guys like McGee, West, Livingston, Clark, Iguodala, who have had their fair share of impactful games during KD's injury. The fact that he didn't play and they won doesn't mean the team plays better without him. You have to also look at the quality of your opponent. A 73-win team that lost by 1 basket in Game 7 still has more than enough to make it back to the finals without him.

  • @Seif97ify
    @Seif97ify 7 лет назад +2

    No KD, Barnes and Livingston..
    Curry and Klay both didnt shoot very well (35% & 33%), yet they won win 29 points? Shows how deep that team is and how that KD being a MVP candidate was a joke. Everyone on the Blazers besides Dame should be ashamed of themselves as well

    I think the point that people seem to miss in this never ending debate is that a great team will always be better than a great player and a great player doesn't necessarily make a great team better. No matter how good a player is as an individual, in a team oriented sport such as basketball the team dynamic will always trump the greatness of an individual player and we've seen that in the past with match ups like the Sixers with AI against the Lakers. KD is a great individual player but the Warriors are a great team.

    As much as I agree with the statement that they're better without Kevin Durant, they NEED him. It doesn't matter how close the game is. When Steph and Klay are off, they NEED someone else. At least, when they're playing a better team than the Blazers.
    Another missed point is that CJ and Damian were cold this game. If they weren't cold, it would've been a whole different story. But let me get this straight:
    It does not matter who the Warriors have playing. It does not matter what their record is. It does not matter how close the games are. The bottom line is that with or without Durant, they are still by far the best team in the league.
    Last year I couldn't imagine how it would be possible for the Warriors to lose 4 games to teams that were worse than them. What did it take for the warriors to lose 4 games? Klay and Steph going cold for 3 straight games. If Durant was there in those 3 games, I GAURUNTEE YOU that the Warriors win the finals. The Warriors, no matter if they are better without him, NEED Kevin Durant on their team. PERIOD.

    This is just silly and honestly a tiresome narrative. I remember Curry playing amazing in January including his best game all year against the Clippers, including winning player of the month with Durant. Are we seriously going to suggest that he will suddenly turn meek and forget how to play with KD? 1) Isn't it more likely that he's been saving himself this year for the back end and the playoffs (as compared to last season when they went all out all year?) 2) He's played a ton with KD now knows how to be aggressive when he's on the court? 3) Also will the chances of 50 point quarters go up or down with KD on the team? I mean seriously would you prefer Barnes, Clark, etc...taking shots or KD? FOOHWTS.......

    • @baileystevens4882
      @baileystevens4882 7 лет назад

      oj oj true. If Kyrie & LeBron can both drop 40+ then so can curry & KD. A team that is so fast pace like them & locked in on defense- it's possible for them both to get good touches. Curry took a backseat & suffered from less touches & tryna make KD comfortable but when the offense ran through him warriors are at their best. This year also showed off Curry's amazing court vision & passing skills (which people don't give enough credit to, he not just a scoring point guard) Klay I feel suffers but he can go off for 30 so quickly on less touches. Warriors just click, they're light years ahead of every team.

    Its games like this that makes KD's move to golden state look even more pathetic. This team doesnt need him at all, and as a superstar he's hopping on another teams bandwagon. The gsw without KD could honestly make it to the finals and its a coin toss on whether or not they win a 7 game series against the cavs.

    The Warriors didn't need KD, but now that they do it's like having a cheat code. The most important thing they needed to do was discover chemistry with this years roll players of which incidentally, KD'S injury back in February afforded them that opportunity. One can argue that injury was a blessing in disguise. For, in the aftermath teams are left damaged psychologically knowing GS can beat them with or without KD.

  • @frazahsa2736

    okay the thing with having KD is that they are better in some areas, and without better in others. with KD, they got more firepower, an amazing shooter when you need him and a tall rebounder when you need him. without KD, they got less firepower, but that opens up klay and curry to go on fire, and they know whos gonna take the shots.

    very true when you say he(Kevin) changes the entire court. To me, and I don't mean it in the exact context, I believe that James sort of does this as well like tonight's game. He gets not just the ball, but the attention and he changes the whole court and how the players play. At least I saw that, who knows.

    Durant was never needed to beat teams in the 1st or 2nd round. He's needed for SAS & CLE. Adding Durant takes away Cleveland's ace in the hole which is hounding Klay and Curry all game long to prevent them from ever getting in rhythm. Having Durant means that the Cavs defense can't just focus on those two and let everyone else beat them. It also means that LeBron can't roam and play free safety anymore. No one on the Cavs can stop Durant and only LeBron can slow him down. Having Durant also adds another rim protector whose length will make up for his lack of strength. Also, Durant missing time was the best thing to happen to the Warriors bench. It forced them to step up and as you saw in Games 1 & 2, the Warriors now have bench players that can do more than just keep up a lead. They are playing smart defense and incredible help defense. They also have a 1-2 punch in West and Clark that they sorely needed last year's Finals when Curry was in foul trouble and when Klay was ice cold.

    Towards the end of the season the Warriors basically didn't play their starters in the fourth quarter against Utah...so they weren't "really trying". FYI

  • @En4cer2K9
    @En4cer2K9 7 лет назад

    They "play" better without him because they never needed him in the first place. They know how to play and they know how to win "with each other". All KD is is a luxurious add-on. It's still year one and they don't have the chemistry with him that they have "with each other". It's as simple as that.

  • @CBrown

    I knew this topic was coming when I saw the game. I don't want to say they are better without him. When they lost against Denver, they were hitting everything. When a team is that hot it doesn't matter who you have. In Game 1, CJ and Lillard were hot. You had to know CJ wasn't doing that again though.
    I just think that without Kevin they are more fluid right now. I think it's just going to take a bit more time for Durant to get used to playing how the Warriors play. As it is, I think Kerr is still allowing Kevin to pretty much do what he wants. When a guy like that can opt out in a year, you don't want to risk upsetting him and loosing him. Give him a year to mesh and sign a long term contract and maybe he's pushed to lay more differently.

    I think all it proved is they can win without Durant. But Durant wasn't brought in to beat inferior teams, he was brought to compete with the other top teams. Durant adds a new dynamic against teams that are capable of matching up with last years Warriors.

  • @prettyflacko6771

    This is such as stupid question. Why does Fox and ESPN keep asking this same question?????? I don't get it. It's stupid to say that the Warriors didn't lock down Lillard and McCollum in game 1 because Durant was on the court. That is just an asinine 9 asinine 10 asinine 11 statement. The Blazers back court just got hot that game. Period. But when the Warriors finally locked in on defense in the 4th quarter, all of that scoring by the Blazers back court stopped.
    They just don't get it. There will come a time in these playoffs where Steph and Klay will be off (like they were last night) and they're going to need buckets. That's when Durant will take over because who on ANY opposing team can stop him? No one.. Not even Lebron himself.
    So stop with this nonsense about they're better without him.

      kingdrosilva94 Sure, the Spurs are great and Pops is a legend. But seriously, they have one A class player, a Kawhi, and a bunch of washed up B players like Aldridge and Gasol. Are you honestly expecting them to beat the team with four all-stars and a pretty deep bench in a 7 game series? I think not.

  • @wrdcreative492
    @wrdcreative492 7 лет назад

    Its as simple as this:
    For as good as he is, Durant is a ball stopper. Warriors operate on movement. I'd say his perceived "efficiency" all of a sudden is because of consistent passing and not a two-man game.
    Smart move for him, but they had the passing down already. So that why they can plug him in and take him out. Are they better without him? Yeah, because they know their "flow". Durant disrupts it a bit. Not a bad thing or good thing. Just ho-hum considering what Durant can be.

  • @DeadBeanz23
    @DeadBeanz23 7 лет назад

    durant is the guy to shoot. but he aint the type to pass and move the ball fluidly with his team. its taking him awhile to adjust on giving it to open men. while without kevin...curry can control the tempo and create more shots as well as thompson which ends up being brutal for any teams once they get hot. add that with draymond also assisting equals game over.

    Steph and klay didn't "shut out" anyone, they relied heavily on 2-3 ppl being in front of them when they got in the lane. If they did shut out Lillard and CJ they wouldn't have gotten in the lane as many times as they did.

    Skip has to be trolling. Warriors were 51-9 with KD till he got injured, that last loss vs Utah the starters didn't even play the 4th. GS lost to bad teams cuz they don't care about regular season after last season, and they still won 67 games

    Durant is obviously the most important player on the Warriors. Typically their best rebounder and their rim protector, Durant still manages to be their best scorer. He is without a doubt their most important player and should have him lead them in the later stages of the playoffs.

    Skiiiiuuup! The eye test is fooling you, when KD was before the injury they were killing teams by 30 EASY while still searching their chemistry! Without KD they switched to 2015 style (played harder defensively, Steph became more ball-dominant and Iguodala returned to a scoring).
    If they can fuse styles or at least switch within the game between "Warriors with KD style" and "Warriors 2015 style", they are unstoppable. And they showing us they can do that!

    • @CREOLEHEAT
      @CREOLEHEAT 7 лет назад

      Exactly. This Warriors team would be scary next season if everyone could stay together. With Durant they were effortlessly blowing teams out by 20 and averaging damn near 40 assists. When he left, they tightened up their defense and Iggy started scoring more. Give them another series and they should be gravy again.

    The difference in game 1 and 2 is NOT the scoring of Golden State, the difference in games 1 and 2 is that in game 1 CJ and Dame dropped 75 points and both were just playing on another level, in game 2 they combined for 23, KD improves this team it has nothing to do with offense of GS
