larry coryell is one of those underrrated jazz guitarrist forgotten in the masters of jazz scene....brutal...
I was lucky enough to see Larry and Aladar play duets in a small club in Frankfurt in 1994. It was one of the highlights of my life.
Larry coryell has been one of my favorite guitar player since the seventies
Jazz Fusion master.
same with me
The great Larry Coryell, Bireli Lagrene, Aladar Pege, wonderful, grateful appreciation!
larry é fantástico.
Unglaublich!!!Aladar Pege fenomenal...So...Ein liter wein haben wir ausgetrunken, als er in Heilbronn wahr...Gute zeit gehabt.
Music from somewhere else . Takes you to wherever you want to be . Thank you from a lowly mortal .
RIP Larry Coryell.
Bireli is always doing something interesting, i don't think he knows how to play boring if he tries, he gets restless and breaks out as soon as it gets even close to dull, so very inventive and fiery.
Larry Great!
The trade-offs between the bass, Larry, and Birelli....starting about 10:30.....beautiful......RIP Larry.....
R.I.P. Larry
Pege fantastic!
It's a real treat to watch & listen to this great musicians! ... THANKS & CHEERS!
Holy shit, great footage, wow, love it!!!
Aladar Pege with Walter Norris in Synchronicity another gem!
He used to live right up the street from my elementary school in New Canaan, CT. So did Dave Brubeck, and his youngest son Matt was a grade ahead of me. Dave and his new band came in to play at our auditorium. Darius was on Bass and his other son was on drums. I think Paul Desmond had passed away previously. I think I was in 7th or 8th grade It blew me away. I had never heard Jazz live and I got hooked. I was p[laying classical clarinet and switched to alto sax two years later as I had discovered Charlie Parker and Donna Lee. I said to myself, I don't care how hard you have to practice, but I am going to learn and be able to play Donna Lee prestisimo!
outstanding performance by everyone
GENIAL !!
Wonderful!!!
Inspirational music from all 3 !
Magnifique !
How would you like to follow this kid Lagrene's solo?...and Larry does it beautifully.
Well put! :)
great concert, Bireli is outstanding............
Aladar Pege.....grande...
great!!!
Good playing. I haven't seen Lagrene in this setting before, though I have a record from the same year where he also plays electric, live at marciac, a trio recording with a good French drummer (that I saw play once with Sylvain Luc) and a French bassist. Coryell and Lagrene played as an acoustic duo a few times after 1986, I think, but this may be the first time they played electric guitar together.
Birelli is so majestic, fluent, flawless and deeply musical. He is truly amazing. Even so, I prefer Larry - who, not as naturally gifted [who is?], always seemed to be searching for something new and expressive in his playing.
Isn't Bireli always searching for new things also?
Jazz-evangard super trio!!!
RIP ALADAR PEGE
❤❤
OH MOMMA THIS IS ON FIRE!
Nice.
Great gentle and impressionistic version of Luis Bonfa's "Morning of the Carnival" from 55-69 min.
...Al bueno...aplausos y premios...
Lagrene is the best jazz guitarist ever, that I know so far, but I don't know that many
Gabriel Tarditi Ever? No that would be Django Reinhardt. But Bireli is very good too. Also check out Angelo Debarre
Rick Jordon Tal Farlow?
Everybody has to have his/her best one
You said it...you don't know jack.
After Django Reinhardt....
the number of references in those solos man...
Én feliratkozom.
Larry Corelly
Larry Corell
at least , he is one of the best tfor playing with such grand master like Corryel and Breli ; All thoses things you are ! that's true !
With all the tapping and harmonics, I can't help wondering what Coryell's "Opus One" (28-33mins) would have sounded like on a clean-tone electric twelve-string as opposed to the acoustic twelve string (is it an Ovation guitar?) he used. Tis good one way or another!
his guitar is a yamaha special order ....she was the in serie ..
This concert features some of Larry's (and Birelli's) most tasty playing. At times throughout his career Larry did overplay, and become less than tasteful by repeating the clichés over for too log of a period. Here he plays just enough when he begins his solos and then brings each solo to a great high climax. After hearing Birelii's solo first, one wonders, how in the hell is Larry going to follow that? Truth is he follows Bireli's solos perfectly with great taste and execution.
You don't know jack .
What Yamaha was Bireli using?
Someone knows the guitar of B.Lagrene??
It has a beautiful sound...!!
I think it a custom made Yamaha. He has many guitars but he quite often played a Yamaha in this time period before playing a couple of his favorite Gibsons later on.
thank you Byron!

Never heard of you.
Aladar Pege, likes the sound of his own playing, and it is clear that he considers this gig to be a contrabass solo. His strings are too low on the fingerboard, which may make it easier for him to play each note, but the slap and buzz sounds that disturb the listeners concentration on the guitar solos is an unforgivable intrusion , which any half competent sound engineer would never allow in a studio recording. Aladar Pege seems to be blindly oblivious to this non musical distraction however, and judging by the way that he smugly ploughs his furrow through the intimacies of this delicately poised trio, I would have preferred that he had been left off the gig, and that both Bireli and Larry played light accompaniment to each others solos. I have heard bass players of that ilk in the past, but usually they end up unemployed, and finding their true vocation in life, out of music.
anthony williams the audience seem to really like his solo.
Didn't distract me from the guitar players at all.
I think there might be a problem with your ears. :(
