      Nice build. I paired my 5800x (non 3d) and 32gb ram with a 4070 Ti Super. Do you think I'm bottlenecked a lot at 3440x1440? I play mostly AAA games on high/ultra settings. I think the 5800x is about 5% worse than the 14400 at gaming, but do my 2 extra cores help with a bottleneck?

    I would like to mention something importand that some people may not comprehend correctly.
    gpu utilization is not always a bottleneck indicator, either because the game can be unoptimized, or the drivers may not be stable yet.
    Also cpu and gpu in gaming they are not only working together but also seperatly.
    Take example the palworld, while you have 99% gpu utilization the fps count is lower than 14700k, and my guess is that a 7800x3d could do even better.
    There are also games that are cpu heavy, where even most powerful cpu's will strugle to perform even at highest settings like spiderman or microsoft flight simulator.
    On the other hand, the moment you lower graphics or resolution, you turn the weight on cpu, meaning that if u just want a system that will provide consistent 240fps, in case you are a pro player or something, then the star of your system should be your cpu and not your gpu.
    My point is that there are always will be bottlenecks on your system no matter what you run, and there will be always better cpu's gpu's that will give you a perfomance boost.
    what you should be aware is that while you play at 1080p or 1440p, you should run a gpu for gpu heavy games that will have atleast 90% gpu utilization(as a pair with your cpu), although anything above 95% is ideal.
    It is not about perfomance only, purchasing a very powerfull gpu that cpu cant handle at all can be a waste of money, while technically you could have about equal perfomance with an inferior card.
    To be fair though, if you just want better graphics and fps upgrading to a good gpu most of the times will be a good move, considering the perfomance boost and generally your gpu should be the star of your system(if u run high settings), if u can affort only one "good" piece.
    even if your pair is not ideal, like this pair on the video, your system can be a good perfomer as an example, especially comparing with the perfomance of your previews gpu(if u consider upgrading).
    Let me explain a 13500/14500 with a 4070 super VS 13400/14400 with 4070 ti S, will do worse in most scenarios, i can also imagine the same scenario even runnin the 14700k and 4070S, however for 240fps low settings i would recommend the i7 for this example.
    At the end of the day,considering you have a limited budget, look at what perfomance you are aiming for and the games you play, and get the best that you can and forget about minmax.
    Even way inferior modern systems can do great, just by tuning settings down.
    My english is not perfect, but hope you get the idea. thanks for the video, such information is very helpful,and nice system by the way

      also for gaming consider that hyperthreading and E cores do not give you advantage at gaming(intel).
      what you should look for is how many physical cores you have, and clock boost. this is why amd cpu's do better at gaming, especially those with the 3d cache.
      However if u do productivity aswell, or heavy cpu workloads, intel can give u insane value, because there hyperthreading is working properly and you can take advantage of all your cores

    There is no Bottleneck here.
    i5 14400F is a powerfull chip perfectly capable to be paired with 4070ti,4070 super.
    You need to realize that GPU utilization doesnt need to be higher then 90%,especially at low resolutions,and it's also depends on the game.
    Framerates are all time high in every title except Cyberpunk,and this clearly shows that CPU is a good perfomer.
    If you can get steady and stable 60fps on your game then there is nothing to worry about,because 60fps is super fine,and pretty much a norm for smooth playing.
    Many people like to exaggerate things,so we get to the point where anything bellow 150fps is not acceptable,which is clearly stupid and make no sense.
    And yeah about Cyberpunk,ideal resolution is 1080p for this GPU if you wanna use Raytracing and ultra settings,system is not build for 4k resolution,or even 1440p on such high settings.
    On 1080p this machine would get 100fps plus on ultra settings+frame generation.

      From my rig, it's good enough. I can get most games in ultra or high at 1080p with consistent 80 fps. But 1440p would struggle a bit. But there is an upgrade path of getting a better gpu of 4070 or 4070super. Budget wise, it's a sweetspot.

    The memory controller is also bottlenecks it. The 14th gen CPU has the best memory controller because the new NIVIDA drivers send the overflow workload to the RAM and at that point the RAM speed and CPU memory controller becomes very important to frame rate.

Consistent 60fps should be considered good. The only reason 100+ starts to look better is due to deficiencies in monitor technology (sample and hold).

      The next generation is not around the corner. Many many months of waiting. I think that if you are not happy with the performance you have and have a desire to get a new CPU then there is little to no reason to wait. Yes, next-gen CPUs will be better. They always are, every generation. The main thing to keep in mind is that there won't be any ground breaking revolution. If we were getting a 2x improvement or something silly like that then I could understand why in some cases it would be better to wait for that upgrade. But that is not the case. So, don't feel like you'll be missing out on anything if you don't wait for the next generation.

      Wait a couple of weeks and get the newest 14 gen Intel CPU as it has a native 6.2ghz clock speed and the best memory controller. If you don't to run it at its native clock that's OK, get it anyway because they saved the best silicone for last and it will be better batched than all the other 14 gen. It's memory controller is also upgraded from 13th gen and that's important because NIVIDA drivers send overflow workload to system RAM. So since you are already getting a NIVIDA card then get some fast RAM and the INTEL CPU for the memory controller and good silicone if nothing else. By the way by fastest RAM you can pretty much ignore the CL rating, 40 is fine, it's an outdated metric. For instance my RAM is 8200mhz as that's the fastest my MB supports and I got 64 GB of it at 40 CL, but always get the max speed your MB supports for future proofing as games are using the RAM more now than before due to DDR5 speeds. If I were you and wanted to get at least 48 GB but whatever amount you go with make sure it's the fastest your board supports especially with an NIVIDA card.

      By then the next generation of Ryzen CPUs should be either out or just around the corner. Intel’s new stuff is also coming at some point this year. Some new GPUs are also expected in Q4 2024. So, wouldn’t worry about planning with current PC parts in mind.

      @@theivadimIm going to order a pc in 1/2 weeks for AC (mainly vr) and concluded a 4070 super is a minimum to play this game at decent settings/fps. I decided to go the 4070ti super way because of feature proofing with 16gb vram. What is the best budget cpu to pair it with? I’m thinking about the 7600 to use the am5 platform later, but what is the best cpu in the 200/250$ range? are they all bottleneck class prices?

      Good combo. 7800X3D would be better of course, it would give like 20fps more in most games in 1440p.

    • @theivadim
      @theivadim  6 месяцев назад +2

      You should be OK with the 7500F for now. You can always upgrade in the future because AM5 motherboards will be supported for a while. Of course, don't expect top tier performance at this price point. But at least you'll be able to run games on higher graphics settings and enjoy them thanks to the 4070 SUPER.👍

    • @theivadim
      @theivadim  6 месяцев назад +1

      Just to elaborate: your plan is good if you mainly play AAA games that are GPU demanding. If you want to play competitive games and you value high FPS then it is best to pick a faster CPU instead of a better GPU. I hope this helps you make a decision. Just ask if you have any questions.🙂

      Nice question! I actually have a 7500F that I originally purchased last September as a "placeholder" for a new AM5 motherboard build -- paired with a 4080 -- and it's been working great so far. (I'm running at 1440p or higher resolutions with unlocked frame rates when possible, up to 144Hz. I also use 6000 Mhz DDR5 -- which is supposed to be the "sweet spot" in price/performance for Zen 4 RAM.) The 7500F has been a sizable and noticeable upgrade over the power-limited 5800X that I had been using with the 4080. (I was power-limiting the 5800X because it was running a little too hot -- and loud -- for my taste.)
      I've been realizing that the 7500F should serve me well until the mythical 9800X3D or 10800X3D comes along (with Zen 5 or Zen 6). Honestly, a future "9500F" or "10500F" might even be enough, depending on how demanding games become (and especially if AMD adds more cores to future iterations of their x500 and x600 series CPUs). Comparisons from Hardware Unboxed showed that the 7500F and 7600 are almost identical performance in gaming to the 5800X3D (on average).

      One more thing I'd like to suggest. Have a look at the 13600K or 14600K (and KF) prices. The 4070 Ti SUPER can really take advantage of a better CPU. Those CPUs might be within your budget as they've seen some discounts in many parts of the world. And they are pretty much the same CPU but both are faster than the 12600KF. Just keep in mind that they are still just 6-10% better than the 12600KF on average. So, not a huge deal. Factor that in when comparing the prices and making a decision.

    • @theivadim
      @theivadim  6 месяцев назад +1

      In that case, I'd go for 12600K (or KF if you don't need integrated graphics). It's definitely not worth it spending 2x more on a 13/14600K. The performance difference is not significant. Keep that money and save, invest, or spend it on something fun that isn't a CPU🙂

      I suspect that it will in some games and scenarios. But you'll have to find someone testing it to know for sure if the 7600X is the right choice for your particular needs. I haven't touched the 7600X yet. If you've been enjoying it so far then it's enough🙂 But if you want to make sure then just check your GPU utilisation when you play the games you like. If it's 95-100% then your CPU is doing a good job. To do that just press Alt+Z to when you're in game to bring up NVIDIA in-game app. There you'll find Performance overlay options. Choose advanced option to get more info. Once you've setup it up use Alt+R when you're in game to display that overlay. Or just find a step by step guide on RUclips. I'm sure it'll do a better job explaining how to set this up than I did here😀
